Bonnie is an incurable romantic and so has her perfect job working for a bridal magazine..... only problem is she can never find her own Mr Right! Rohan is a complete cynic he certainly doesn't believe in happy ever afters and so ends up in Twitter row with Bonnie.

When Bonnie is sent to Edelweiss Island to find out the secrets of why any marriage that takes place on this island never ends in divorce she finds herself in the company of Rohan and the only way to get to the bottom of the secrets is to pretend that they are going to get married..... can she pull it off and how well the cynic cope!

A lovely warm hearted chick lit book, no great surprises but perfect for the beach when you want something nice and light to read

I've not read any Jaimie Admans' books before and this won't be my last. This was an adorable read, a little predicable but aren't all chick lit books! I'm glad they both saw sense in the end and didn't write their articles about the island and ended up together. I enjoyed reading about the island and got a lovely picture in my head with stunning views. I would have liked a 'one year on' chapter to read what their big day was like but never mind! A lovely well written book. Thank you for letting me read and review this book, I'll be looking out for the next one.

There’s journalism, there’s love, there’s a handsome and overly sarcastic arch-rival There’s even an island that may or may not have magical powers where mariages are concerned. It’s Jaimie Admans The Little Wedding Island!

THE BOOK
“‘Will you… pretend to marry me?’

Bonnie Haskett loves everything about weddings. She loves her job at a national bridal magazine and even has a deposit down on her dream dress. The only problem? She doesn’t have a fiancé!

So when Bonnie is sent to Edelweiss Island, known as ‘The Little Wedding Island’, it’s a dream come true. She’s heard the rumours, every wedding that takes place in the tiny chapel ends in a happy-ever-after.

But there’s a catch! Investigating the story, Bonnie needs to pose as a blushing bride – and the only man up for posing as her groom is her arch rival (and far too handsome for his own good) journalist Rohan Carter…

A gorgeously uplifting summer romance. Perfect for fans of Holly Martin and Caroline Roberts.”

THE OPINION
Here’s the one big downside to reading a book about a journalist, when you yourself have studied journalism and have worked for a newspaper for a little bit: you get really critical about the “real-ness” of it all.

In this particular case, that kind of made me start off on the wrong foot with this whole book. My literal notes were: “How naive can you get? Does she not realise that what she does reflects directly on the magazine? That you don’t claim “you were right” in doing what you did to your boss when your behaviour resulted in two advertisers pulling their ads? Especially in a time when the printed press is barely surviving as is?”

This would be a constant throughout the book. In general, I don’t think you would necessarily get sent out on an undetermined amount of time-trip to a cosy island as punishment. You might get send back to the lowest starting point of the magazine hierarchy. That would’ve been plausible. This? Not so much.

However, when you get over that? When you give in to the “suspension of disbelief” and just go with the story? What remains is a lovely story of people who are not that different after all. Oh, and a large amount of meddling to get them to that realisation. As you can expect, in a book like this.

The characters are relatively well-rounded, although they do appear to be more so left to the turns of fate than necessarily taking their story into their own hands. Again, that’s something that’s pretty typical for a book such like this. And sure, the final “dramatic turn” that will eventually lead to them being together may seem a bit conveluted. I mean, it is thrown in there pretty rashly and some solid thinking could probably have helped both Bonnie and R.C. Art. But again: that’s what you’re signing up for when you read a book liek this. And all in all, the whole is very well executed.

There’s just the right amount of annoying-ness in both of them to keep them realistic. The inhabitants of the island are – quite frankly – amazing. And I desperatly want to go see the Little Wedding Island now. Just sayin’ 🙂

THE RATING; 4/5
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, despite some little hick ups in the portrayal of “life as a journalist”. This is definitely, as it is advertised as well, a perfect summer read. The wanderlust that might come from reading the book? That’s all at your own risk, though 🙂

Bonnie works for a bridal magazine and loves her job as Bonnie loves everything about weddings even if she hadn’t met her Mr. right. But she had found her wedding dress and was making payments on it even with no wedding for herself in sight. Bonnie argued online with R. C. Arts who writes for The Man’s Land. The two magazines were in competition with each other and the magazine that loses would go out of business. Bonnie’s boss is mad at her and is sending her to Edelweiss Island that has a church that says every couple who has been married there has never divorced. The boss wants Bonnie to write a bang up article that will save the magazine as well as her and other people who work for the magazine’s jobs. On the boat to the island Bonnie saw a man who was very seasick but she was cold and he offered her his coat. Bonnie is attracted to and likes this man and hopes to get to know him better while on the island. The islanders do not like reporters and run them off their island. Bonnie finds this man Rohan is the first guy she has been interested about in a long time. Then Bonnie learns he is her nemesis R. C. Arts and he admits his boss made him come to the island for an article for punishment as he is mad because they had argued online. Bonnie and Rohan do agree to act as an engaged couple to get the information they need for their articles. Rohan has obviously been hurt and is guarding his heart.
I enjoyed this book and didn’t want to put it down to see what would happen next. It was a fun enjoyable read. It did make me chuckle at times while reading this book. I liked the pace and the plot a lot. I loved how Bonnie and Rohan were such opposites yet they make it work eventually. I also loved how this island was dedicated to love and marriage.I really liked the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend.

Lovely cover, great title, engaging blurb and my first book by Jaimie Admans. I love the idea behind this book!

Bonnie Haskett loves weddings, wedding dresses and works for a wedding magazine. The only thing missing?! A men!
Rohan Carter is her arch rival, a journalist from another magazine.
The two of them get into a fight on social media and get sent to Edelweiss Island by their bosses.

Edelweiss Island is all about weddings and both of them should find out, if the publicity for it is really and what really goes on on the island. The easiest way to do that, without the others realising who they are?! Yes, a fake engagement. At first they don’t know who the other person is and I didn’t like the way it was all revealed. It didn’t fit the storyline in my opinion and some things didn’t make sense.

I really like the two main characters and their chemistry was electric. You never knew what was going to happen between them, but the feeling of them belonging together really came through.

It’s a sweet story, full of ups and downs, but something was missing for me. It's very predictable and sometimes also confusing. Nevertheless, it’s still a very enjoyable read.

3 - "I sense you’re sceptical…" Stars.

Pack your case, get your best hat off the top of the wardrobe, and make sure your bag is full of confetti, as you hop on a boat to Edelweiss Island, just past the Isle of Wight and second star to the left… Also known as The Little Wedding Island to its residents, and those who travel there to tie the knot.

"People use humor as a barrier to protect themselves…"

I find myself again partially enjoying a book by this author. The secondary characters, the island and the story-line themselves were absolutely stellar, but again (and this was my bug bear with the previous book I read by her) I found myself disliking one of the main characters more and more as the story progressed.

No sooner do you think you’ve found a good one, then they turn out to be a knob in disguise…

The knob in question this time is Rohan Carter, you understand early on that this is a guy who has been hurt by his past relationships, familial and in the love stakes, but what started out as pointed sarcasm and acerbic wit, just turned into bitter and on occasion’s outright rudeness as things moved on. I won’t lie I didn’t find a lot of his snark, and put-downs for everything that enamoring in the first half of the book, but it just went downhill from there in the second half, but I stuck with it as I liked the story in general, and applauded Bonnie for trying to change his mind about love and all things romantic, while trying to get what she needed from her visit, as well as keep up the pretense of a fake engagement with him.

Decent story writing from this author again, I just found her lead characterizations a little too much to keep me feeling amiable towards them for the whole book.

A lovely romantic, cute story of conflicts of beliefs. Two reporters battle for the best story to save their own magazine. Does love really exist? Is it true there has never been a divorce by any couple married at the church on Edelweiss island. To get the scoop on the story, each takes a separate trip to the little wedding island to hunt the story. Oh, no reporters have ever been successful. Reporters are not welcome. I truly loved the book.

I’ve been a fan of Jaimie Admans’ books since her debut self-published novel Kismetology. I’ve loved watching her grow as a writer, and was so excited when she signed with HQ Digital. Her books always have a wonderfully charming, magical element to them, and The Little Wedding Island was no different.

As someone nearing her mid-thirties who’s had trouble finding love, I really connected to Bonnie. Despite never being in love, she still believes in love and the possibility of fairytales. When she meets cynical, sarcastic Rohan, she refuses to let his bad attitude toward love sway her...especially when she sees the softer side of him, the side he doesn’t let the rest of the world see.

This book was so utterly adorable, I just want to clutch it to me and hug it forever. It takes two tropes a lot of people love - enemies to more, plus fake dating - and combines them into a story that’s full of giggles, swoons, and so much heart. Bonnie and Rohan balance each other out perfectly, and their interactions range from hilarious to steamy (those kisses!). I loved that the island was called Edelweiss Island and that Admans worked in The Sound of Music in really fun, funny ways. Plus the story features the cutest little dog imagable, who I wanted to snatch from the pages and keep for myself!

I wasn’t sure Jaimie Admans could top The Chateau of Happily Ever Afters, but I think I love The Little Wedding Island even more. The characters and setting are memorable and full of charm, and this story left me with a great big smile on my face (and lots of happy tears). The Little Wedding Island is the perfect escape, no matter the time of year. If you’re looking for a sweet, funny, feel-good book, this is a must read.

of course, what drew me in in the synopsis was the “Will you pretend to marry me?” bit and then reading “her arch rival” sealed the deal for me. There was no way i was going to miss out on such a book. Bonnie & Rohan’s story was equal parts witty, emotional, and awfully romantic. Definitely one of my very favorite reads, i totally recommend it for all the hopeless romantics out there.

This cover draws you to the book which promises a lovely romantic read set on the most beautiful sounding Eidelweiss Island. I wanted to go and attend a wedding there!

Bonnie is a journalist for a wedding magazine and is a romantic at heart- she wants everyone to get their happy ever after. She gets into an online spat with a blogger journalist from a rival magazine who is completely jaded with weddings. They find themselves sent to investigate the wedding island by their respective magazines and have to overcome the islanders opposition to journalists. There is a lovely romantic feel surrounding the book, some amazing characters including little Puffin and the setting made me desperate to visit. I loved Rohans brusque, acerbic exterior covering a warm hearted man with a painful past.

I wasn't sure about the vicar and wouldn't surprised to read a side story about him! The rest of the islanders were a wonderful set of characters with their very own bush telegraph and an antennae for love.

Bonnie Haskett loves her job at a wedding magazine, even going as far as to have her own wedding dress picked out despite no 'Mr Right' on the horizon.

When Bonnie retaliates on twitter to a guy from a rival magazine it gets her into a lot of trouble with her boss, and her pleas that she was defending a bride and groom from being objects of ridicule fall on deaf ears. 'Banished' from the office to research a story on a place where none of the marriages have ended in divorce, she runs into a charming man on the ferry to The Little Wedding Island. Little does she know that he is, indeed, her twitter nemesis! When it turns out that he, too, has been despatched by his irate boss to get the same story they have to find a way to work together to get their story from the tight-lipped islanders.

This is a light-hearted fun read, well written and sparkling, although I felt I knew where it was heading from the very beginning. Entertaining nonetheless and recommended to those who enjoy rom-coms and chick-lit.

My thanks to HQ Digital for approving my copy via NetGalley. This is my honest, original and unbiased review.

Bonnie Haskett is one that believes in happily ever afters and finding love so working for a bridal magazine covering weddings has always been perfect for her. Unfortunately though after finding herself in a Twitter war with a competitor she finds that her job isn’t exactly secure with the magazine losing business. Now her boss expects her to find the story of the century that will help save her job and decides to send her off to Edelweiss Island, also known as The Little Wedding Island, which claims that no one married there has ever gotten divorced.

On the ride over to Edelweiss Bonnie finds herself helping another passenger who suffers from sea sickness. Rohan Carter is quite charming and nice and the pair find themselves hitting it off until Bonnie finds that Rohan is the same man who writes as R.C. Art who Bonnie had gotten in the Twitter war with. But when both of them find they have been sent to the island to save their jobs they come up with the plan to try to get the scoop but pretending to be an engage couple looking to wed on the islands when they are shut out like every other reporter.

The Little Wedding Island by Jaimie Admans is a bit of a rom com read with it becoming obvious from the start that it would be filled with humorous lines. But it went so much beyond the laughs bringing the reader into the story between this couple who are so clearly opposite of one another and also bringing in the charm of this magical island dedicated to love and marriage.

The author did a wonderful job setting this story and really fleshing out the characters and their surroundings on the island. Whether a cynic like Ro or a romantic like Bonnie the island and it’s residents couldn’t help but warm hearts even including a lovable little puppy for me to oohh and ahh over. Such a wonderful book from top to bottom that I couldn’t help but smile throughout reading and was a bit sad when my time on Edelweiss came to an end.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

This is a lovely story with some great characters. You find yourself immersed in the story from the beginning.

Rom Com at its best! Bonnie and Rohan - well, they have totally opposite opinions on love and marriage but..... You know what's going to happen when they both end up on romantic Edelweiss Island and pretend to be an engaged couple. It's actually chuckle out loud funny, with snappy dialogue. Bonnie's a bit too naive and Rohan is a bit too cynical but together, they're a good team. Thanks to Netgalley for the ArC. This is a fast, very entertaining light read with- best of all- a happy ending!

Bonnie writes for a bridal magazine. She loves everything about weddings, brides and bridal dresses and simply everything about weddings. She is the eternal optimist. She believes that there is true love out there everywhere. So far she has not been in love, and her dates have been like horror stories, but she believes that somewhere there is true love for her.

She has had a twitter battle with a writer from a men's magazine, RC Art. He was bashing a newly wed couple. She said he should not do that....he publicized her tweets to the world and she came off looking badly.

Both magazines are owned by the same publisher. Both writers are in trouble.

Bonnie and RC are sent to Edelweiss Island. It is a small island off the coast of England. It is supposed to be a wedding venue that is wonderful. And no couple who has been married in Edelweiss church, has ever gotten a divorce.

RC (Rohan) is going to write an article showing that the entire island is a scam filled with con artists. Bonnie is going to write an article showing that love has given the island a special magic and if couples wed in the church have never gotten a divorce, it is all about the love.

Bonnie does not know Rohan and he does not know her. Their meeting is not exactly spectacular. On the boat crossing to the island, he is at death's door from sea sickness. Green is not his best color. But, even being so ill, he is kind and considerate.

He is charming and funny and kind and caring. She is sweet and funny and kind and caring. The two of them find that getting to know one another is a wonderful experience.

In order to get a story, the two of them pass themselves off as an engaged couple. After they declare they are engaged, immediately they are welcomed by the people of the island.

This is a terrific story. The dialog is very funny. Bonnie and Rohan have conversations which made me laugh out loud. They are wonderful characters. He is not the cynic he appeared to her. She is not the weak minded woman he thought.

The islanders are very interesting. They are sincere in their promotion of love and marriage. The entire island is devoted to providing couples with the best possible experiences. And none of them have cooked anyone in a stew.

I like humor in the books I read. This book was perfect for me. Rohan is a very funny cynic. Bonnie is funny right back at him. Together they are wonderful.

This is the first book I have read by Ms Admans. After I finished this one, I purchased 2 more of her books. This is one of the best books I have read in quite some time.

I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley. I am voluntarily writing this review and all opinions are my own.

If you require a book of innovative imagination including romance and live, this is he novel you need. I have heard of the author before because she wrote a previous book I wanted to read but I still haven't been able to get hold of it.... I will.... So this is my first read by the talented author Jaimie Adams and it certainly won't be the last.
The island is set in the UK, so we all need that build up of where it's going to be along the way with love and romance, the main character is a little naive towards love but that's what this is about... It's one of those stories you can see where it's going but you don't want it to end.
The story is brilliant, the setting, the writing all compliments each other and I loved it,

Going into this I didn't think I would like it as much as I did. The characters were cute and the plot was interesting with the island history and sort of spooky feel surrounding the islands secrets.

Bonnie and Rohan were a good match and each character complemented the other quite well which is something you rarely see in a cosy romance. I really enjoyed the meet cute on the boat and reading about Ro's love for dogs.

Overall a very satisfying and lovely read.

This was a pleasantly sweet read, there's chemistry, wedding bliss galore and a dynamic between the two main characters. I didn't find I connected on a deep level with the plot or characters however and was left just wanting "more". The island seemed a bit bizarre to me, and I get it's fictional but this was so far out there it bordered on fantasy which personally wasn't for me in this genre but it's a quick, feel good read, especially if you're emersed in wedding planning.

This is the first book I have read by Jaimie Adams and I just want to say - ‘Wow’! It was absolutely fantastic and I felt that I was actually there on the island. It is one of only a few books where, at the end, I have actually let out a sigh of contentment. Admittedly I initially thought that it was going to be unbearably predictable and I did wonder how Ms Adams could fit in a whole story around a small island but I was pleasantly surprised. I am now going in search of her debut book as I can’t wait to read more by her.

The book itself: Bonnie writes for a wedding magazine and has managed to get herself in a spot of bother with her boss after she has a very public Twitter spat with a fellow writer for a rival magazine. Cue both persons being sent to the Little Wedding Island to chase the story about what makes it so special.

What follows is a wonderful story where we get to meet the lovely islanders and witness Bonnie and Ro fall in love.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for an ARC of this book.
