Overall, an interesting read which reminds us to not take anything for granted. This includes what you consider a cornerstone relationship (your marriage) and the comfortable job you have.
I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read The Middle Ground. The Middle Ground is a Rapid Read. I was able to complete the book in an hour. It is more of a novella or short story than a novel. Missy Turner is a 33 year old mom to a teenage boy, married to her high school sweetheart. Pregnancy forced the marriage. Missy is fairly content with her life, when one day, she loses her job, finds her husband cheating with the neighbor and is in a café when a robber comes in and places a gun to her head. The story is a quick read, not very involved, although the subject matter is serious. This book is apparently one in a group of Rapid Reads, for those who may not have as high of a rate of reading as others. Overall, an ok book - I don't recommend it to anyone who is at a higher reading level or reads over 50 books a years.
quick read, not a very lengthy book, feels unfinished and rushed. Could use a bit more substance
I am so sorry. I did not finish this book. I just couldn't connect with it.
Quick, easy read. The story was interesting, if a little unbelievable.
However, Missy loses her job, comes home to find her husband cheating on her with the neighbor, and is part of a robbery at a diner so who knows how you’d act under similar circumstances.
If you need a light read, this would be a good one.
It was a short book, you understand the relevance of the title once you are halfway through the book. Missy Turner is happy with her life, when suddenly everything falls apart. She loses her job, her husband is sleeping with someone else and is held hostage by a robber at a Cafe.
I felt the story was incomplete. It kind of finished too fast. The ending has left me confused
