I had a hard time reading this book. The cover would appeal to readers who like anime or manga, and I enjoyed the underlying premise. However, most of the time, I felt confused and lost. I don’t know if it was because I was reading the Nook version, but the narrative was rushed and disconnected. There wasn’t enough background information for me to connect with the characters, and sometimes, certain characters disappeared for a while only to reappear later in the story. Also, the point of view suddenly changed from person to person so it was surprising when you read about a secondary character’s thoughts. Additionally, some grammar and punctuation errors made the story more confusing as well as the use of certain words that made me think I should have read a prequel to understand the significance between the different races. Ultimately, I was left with more questions than answers. I would like to read a printed copy just to see if the published version makes a difference. Yet, this book is one I wouldn’t recommend.
