Molly Pink was the assistant manager of the Shedd & Royal Bookstore. She was also a member of the Tarzan’s Hookers, who busied themselves crocheting baby blankets. Timothy Park put his house up for sale. His real estate salesman was Logan. Timothy ran a workshop group of would-be actors. Elise-Adele and Molly went to look at the house for a possible purchase but shouldn’t have been there when Logan appeared to show it to another buyer. Unfortunately, Molly left her orange scarf at the house.
Logan discovered Tim’s body when he arrived. Barry, a local policeman, was convinced the scarf was Molly’s due to the fabric and pattern and tried to convince her to confess. Molly was forced to find the real culprit before she was jailed for murder. This book was well-written and I enjoyed reading it. Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book.
Plot was fairly interesting only because of the characters involved. I enjoyed all 3 of 'her guys' enjoyed her use if the long hook at the end--made me smile

Thank you to NetGalley.com for the opportunity to read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
You miss one or two books in a series and everything you knew before seems to be all screwy…. Seriously I missed 3 marriages, 2 breakups, some additional pets and the return of the singing seniors? Remind me not to let that happen again – I may not recogninze anything..oh wait – if Adele and her crazy crocheted clothes are there I’ll know where I am.
What I loved: I was Team Mason - all the way so of course I love all of the things that happened over the course of this story. It was also wonderful to see the Hookers together creating something beautiful for the community.
What I didn’t love: See above – Team Mason here; not Team Barry so I’m scowling at how the book ended.. and annoyed that Molly didn’t get to eat this amazing sounding vanilla ice cream – 5 types of vanilla bean AND marscapone cheese? Scoop me up some – and make it a triple.
What I learned: Why isn’t there a crafting channel? I just want a show on to show me how to complete a French knot.
Overall Grade: B

The Tarzana Hookers gather to embrace a charity project and concentrate on crocheting much needed baby blankets in a short time period. Protagonist Molly Pink, is the assistant manager at a bookstore where they meet to select yarn, chat, and nimbly make their hooks fly. One of the members, Elise, is a newly licensed realtor and eagerly shows Molly and Adele one of her husband’s listings unaware that the owner’s corpse is downstairs! One of them unknowingly leaves their scarf behind and the police find it when the body is discovered by another realtor. Detective Barry Greenberg investigates the case and cautions Molly to stop asking questions. Molly doesn’t want to see any of her friends get in trouble.
For fans of Betty Hechtman’s Crochet Mystery series, you’ll recognize familiar characters and enjoy Molly’s menagerie of pets throughout the story. The plot makes for a quick and easy read. I was surprised at who the culprit turned out to be. Crochet pattern included for your enjoyment.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a digital ARC provided by NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books.
I have mixed feeling. On one side I really appreciated the fast pace and the humour, on the other side it seemed that the mystery took a back seat to Molly, the heroine, stone-walling Barry, the detective.
The stonewalling was funny at the beginning and became a bit boring after a while.
I like the ending and the characters over the top.
There were no plot hole but the culprit was too much of a surprise and too few hints to understand.
An entertaining read but I could have been better.
Many thanks to Netgalley and Crooked Lane Books
On the Hook is the 12th book in the Crochet Mystery series. Molly Pink gets coerced into going to a house viewing with Elise and Adele. After being at the house for less than 5 minutes, a nervous Elise ushers the pair out because her husband (who is unaware that she has gotten her real estate license) is coming to show the same house. Unfortunately for Molly, she accidentally drops her scarf in their rush to leave, and when Elise's husband finds the owner's dead body in the basement, it becomes evidence. Timothy Clark, the dead owner of the house, is also Adele's acting coach. The discovery of the scarf brings detective (and former boyfriend) Barry to Molly's door, and forces her to reacquaint herself with other ex-boyfriend, attorney Mason.
The story is extremely fast-paced, more so than any other of the Crochet Mysteries that I'd read, and I found my way through the entire book one boring Sunday. While I continuously wonder why Molly insists upon stone-walling Barry, my only real issue is that with the exception of the killer, damn near everyone ends up happy. That was a little too much in my opinion. Overall, a good story and mystery though.
I received an advance ebook copy of this title from NetGalley.
This was my first foray into the world of Molly Pink and her crocheting friends. I found it entertaining enough that I will probably seek out the other books by this author. Not being familiar with the characters and their situations, there were a few spots where I found it a bit difficult to follow, but the confusion level was not enough to diminish my overall enjoyment of the story.
The opening section of the book I found a bit hokey, but can't really put my finger on why. Then the story got rolling, and pulled me in.
I used to visit the San Fernando Valley a lot, and the author clearly knows her geographic territory. I have also done a great deal of crocheting, for many decades, so that aspect of the story's environment appealed to me also. Plus, who doesn't love a good bookstore? Especially one with a yarn department. If such a store existed in my part of the world, I would probably spend a lot of time there.
Overall, a fun read, not the best ever, but certainly far from the worst.
I was privileged to be able to read this book early through NetGalley. This was my first encounter with Molly Pink and The Hookers. It was thoroughly entertaining while at the same time a murder mystery with crochet splashed throughout. I really enjoyed the mix of characters and will definitely be reading more books in this series.
I really enjoy this series! The latest book keeps up with the rest of the books. The author moves the story along at a great pace and keeps the reader interested. You want to know what happens, but also enjoy reading about the characters' lives. I can't wait for the next one!
Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. Oh how I wished I could crochet and join this club. Thoroughly enjoyable read
This is one of the series that makes me wish I could yarn craft thought I've only read bits and pieces of it. Good addition with a nice touch of romance.
I have enjoyed the previous books in this series however, I really didn't like this one. Molly is extremely bad at relationships and only gets in her own way. I do like the other characters as well as the yarn craft information.
Molly and her group of crocheters, the Tarzana Hookers find themselves in a boatload of trouble. Elise is thrilled to have finally earned her realtor’s license and is eager to show her first home. Unfortunately the tenant has been murdered. And what’s more, the dead man, Timothy Clark, is the acting coach who was helping fellow hooker, Molly, pursue her dreams of an acting career. Molly has left a scarf at the murder site and her former beau, a cop investigating the crime recognizes it as hers. Molly will need the help of another ex (a lawyer) to help get her out of this sticky wicket. If this sounds crazy, it’s because it is, in a delightfully zany way.
