I overall liked and enjoyed this book. I feel like the the first half just was slow and dragged on a bit. I've read other things by this author that I enjoyed more but still look forward to reading this author and the next book in this series.
I liked this book but it was not my favorite Elle Casey book. It was really angsty and I’m not a fan of the hippie dippie lifestyle. It was very well written and the characters were well thought out and written, I just didn’t really like them.
What a fresh and original read!
Amber and her two “sisters” Emerald and Rose are in their mid-twenties and besides attending college, they have resided on commune in Maine with their mothers their entire lives. Having never known who their biological fathers were, they were shocked to find out their dads are actually musicians in an uber famous 90’s rock band. When a representative for the rock legends comes to the Maine to offer the girls a deal, their initial reaction is heck no! Ultimately, they think about it and elect Amber to travel to NYC to get all the details and decline their offer in person. Well, things don’t exactly go as planned!! Amber never expects to actually like the “dads” and never, ever expects to fall for their young bandmate....wowzer!
Elle Casey always creates the most fantastic and quirky characters that immediately hook you! I knew within the first 15% into Amber that I will absolutely read every book Elle writes in this series. The amount of sarcasm and wit throughout this novel totally adds so much to the storyline and there was never a part that lagged—LOVE THAT! Amber is a 5 star read that I recommend to everyone!
Amber was raised in a hippie commune with her mothers and two sisters and has just learned she is the daughter of a member from the 80’s band, Red Hot. Besides Amber’s mom there were two others who were groupies of the band back in the day and the three young women followed the Red Hots for two years until all three learned that they were pregnant with babies from an unknown band member. It was peace, love, drugs and rock ‘n roll so not knowing who the exact father was not out of the ordinary. The women knew that they had to try to give their daughters a life out of the spotlight and the craziness of touring with a famous rock band. The best way to do this was to settle in Maine with no connections with their pasts.
Amber was the go-getter out of the three young daughters and was determined to go to New York to let the band members know that there was no way the girls were going to accept any money from them and maybe find out how they could wait all of these years to reach out to them or their mothers.
Ty was a new member of the band who seemed to be on the outside looking in even though he was able to play Red Hot’s music backwards and forward. The interaction between Ty and Amber was hilarious at times and at others heartbreaking. The band members themselves did have redeemable qualities that Amber was able to see, even if she was sure there would be none there. They made her a job offer she could not refuse and the ballsy Amber did not walk away from it. This was a strong female who had learned the value of being nice to people and working hard. I cannot wait to see what becomes of her sister Emerald in the next book in this series.
I received this book as an ARC for a freely given and honest review.
I became a fan of Elle Casey when I read Shine Not Burn. When I saw she had a new book out, I thought I would give it try. AMBER is the first book in her new series Red Hot Love. This is an entertaining, fun, light hearted story but to be honest, at times, I thought it was silly and unrealistic.
Amber and her two best friends find out at the age of twenty four they are the daughters of famous rock stars. The girls were raised together by their mothers on a farm and have lived a sheltered life. Amber decides to brave New York City to meet the band and confront her father and give him a piece of her mind for abandoning her. But nothing is as it seems and Amber has to try to piece together the truth. Against her better judgment, she starts to like the band members. Especially Ty, the youngest and newest member of the band.
Ty has demons and lots of baggage and Amber wants to help him. Ty joins the band when one of the band members dies and the fans still haven’t accepted him. He is living his dream. Playing with a bad he loves and achieving fame but he feels something is missing.
Amber is a combination of sweet, naive and bold and brave. She doesn’t let the fact that the band members are rich, successful rock stars intimidate her. Amber yearns for a life in the city but feels guilty leaving her family and especially, the two best friends she grew up with. She realizes being a famous rock star isn’t as easy as it seems. Yes they have money and fame, but along with it, they give up their freedom.
First thanks to Netgalley for the book in exchange for my HONEST opinion.
Ok, lets start. some of this book was just ridiculous and unbelievable. A band of 4 rockers sharing a sexual relationship with 3 women all without protection all at the same time, all 3 women get pregnant at the same time and all leave together and raise the baby (who all are days apart in birth and all 3 girls) without the men knowing. Skip to 24 years later they find out and want to be around their daughter. ( crazy part during all this they never want or ask for DNA they just want to all be called dad and pitch in together.) This is so distracting that you kind lose the real story in all the drama. I also felt like Ty was always hiding something. He seem fishy,IDK. But I did laugh alot this book had some really funny parts.
I mean overall I'll go 3 to 3.5 stars. I would read the next 2 books in the series.
This is the first book in this series and what a fantastic start. This book has it all, fantastic characters, drama and romance. The characters are amazing and are fun and captivating. i just couldn't put this book down. I cant wait for more in this series and by this amazing author in the future.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book
Highly recommended
I loved Elle Casey's "Shine not Burn" series, so I figured I would give this new series a try, and hope it would be just as great.
Even though I enjoyed reading this one, it was very different from her other series.
This book is about a group of women of around the same age (24/25), being raised by their (different) mothers, on a communal honey farm. They are very selfsufficient, and therefore also very sheltered.
Non of the women know who their fathers are.... that is until a lawyer shows up one day, with papers from their actual daddies.
Turns out their fathers are members of a pretty famous rock band. Question is...how come no one told them...not their moms and not their dads....
Amber is the one who offers to go to New York and get some answers. The plan is to come back home asap....but she didn't count on Tyler...
Ty is the newest and youngest member of the rockband. He has some issues though and Amber being the fixer upper that she is....decides to butt in. The band offers her a longer stay, which will give her time to help Ty and get the answers she needs for her sisters.
I liked this book, but it wasn't a favorite. I myself am not really a big fan of naieve and sheltered women, even though the whole commune deal really intrigued me.
I will definitely check out the other books in this series ;)
An Arc was kindly provided to me via Netgalley

It was a cute book. I liked the relationship between Amber and Ty. They were too cute with their banters. I also liked the relationship she had with the other band members.
Unique story of three daughters of Hippie farm mothers who find that their dads are Rockstars after 25 years. Very implausible but premise was unique.
I took a star from rating for how the story seems stretched to last three books. I think it hurt this book in that treatment. It doesn't seem as the dads make much effort to meet the daughters because it's almost too late in this book to have me warm up to them.
Most of the book is introduction of the "farm" and the relationship between Amber and her "female" family. It's mediocre on the romance between Amber and her rockstar. Amber's attitude about her dads lasts a long time because it waits until towards the end to reveal.
I loved Amber but she was in her head or on phone TOO much. There was value to her character when she accomplished or solved and those moments were entertaining.
I'm thrilled the story was unique and that was the four star review. The negative is the stretching of the story.
Amber is the delightful first romantic comedy in the Red Hot Love series written by author Elle Casey. I'm definitely looking forward to reading the rest of this series. Thanks to NetGalley and Montlake Romance for the advance copy.
Honestly I expected more out of this book, I enjoyed the plot idea where this girl from hippie commune comes to the big city to meet her rockstar fathers. I did enjoy Amber herself she was feisty stubborn and helped her fathers even though she came there to tell them off and then go home. Ty was a cute addition and his personality was hit or miss I kind of felt like he was bi-polar at times. The romance was cute and fluffy. Honestly this whole story was pretty fluffy and light.
I'll be honest, I didn't enjoy this as much as the Bourbon Street Boys series but maybe I shouldn't be comparing them, because they are quite different. This is a nice rock and roll romance that builds slowly which is something I love -- I like to get to know the characters and I like the slow intensity of the building of the relationship. Well written and heartwarming, sweet and sexy -- good read! Would definitely recommend!
I’ve been meaning to read Elle Casey for so long, so when I saw Amber, I couldn’t help but check it out. It sounded like a great read and while I usually don’t read a book as soon as it hits my kindle and I have time to dive into it, with Amber I started it right away. And I’m so glad that I did because it was absolutely wonderful and I completely loved it!
Ty definitely has the whole tortured-artist thing down pat. He has a lot of emotions and while he has his jerkish moments, I liked his sensitiveness. Ty can be sweet and say exactly the right thing that just makes your heart melt. I loved getting to know him and I’m sure you will to.
Ty might be the rockstar, but Amber totally stole the show - she is amazing! She’s funny and feisty and doesn’t let anything or anybody get her down for too long. She would do anything for her family, she is so dedicated to them. Amber can be very serious and she gives out great advice, but she’s also extremely fun, silly, and playful. I positively loved, loved, loved Amber - she’s the best!
Amber made me laugh so much - it was a true joy to read. I didn’t ever want to stop reading and there were several times when I could just not pull myself away. It was full of fun, heat, and humor. It will tug on heartstrings, melt your heart, make you laugh, and put a smile on your face. I adored Amber and I absolutely, positively can’t wait for Emerald and Rose’s stories!
Amber is the first book in the Red Hot series, it’s told only from Amber’s point of view and she and Ty do get a happy ending.
Not your typical rock star love story, this is what happens to rockers after the lifestyle. Rockers can't have families follow them on tour, right? Well, that's what three women said as they walked away from the lifestyle and loves of their lives to raise three babies, babies of rock stars. Amber, is one of those babies, along with Rose and Emerald. Amber sets off to NYC for answers and finds much more. The story is quite unique, hippie chicks and rockers. It really works and I was thrilled to be reading something so different. I was hoping for answers as well but with two more books we might be waiting. Requested from Netgalley and wrote this review voluntarily.
I enjoyed reading about Amber and all the complications she was suddenly exposed to and how she persevered to overcome each one as she uncovered the truth about the mysterious past of her mothers and the unknown fathers that were never in her life. Most children wouldn't have been contented to live their childhood and adolescents and not try and find out who their father's were. Amber and her sisters seemed quite content and secure with themselves and their mothers that it didn't seem to have been an issue for them. Amber has remarkable courage and a deep desire to face the unknown fathers and set things straight for herself and her sisters. I could never have done what she was able to face and accomplish. I did feel that Amber came across as being more naive than she should have been. She attended college away from her home and family. She would have been exposed to the reality of life while she was away from home. She even considered taking a job away from home and then decided she was needed more at home.
I liked the characters in the book, some more than others. Amber's idea that she could change Ty's life and go behind his back to tell off her fathers because they did not treat Ty like a member of the band and did not stand up for him during their performances seemed to me that it would have angered Ty and caused some interesting friction between them. Instead he just accepted it and Amber continued calling the shots in his life and trying to figure him out and "fix" him. It made me feel that Ty had a weak nature. I would liked to have seen him with more depth and development to his character.
I was startled with the hidden past of Amber and her sister's mothers and the initiative and courage it must have taken to make a 180 turn in their lifestyles. If I was Amber or his sisters I would have had a hard time dealing with the hidden knowledge that slowly came to light. I would have been overwhelmed, angry and resentful towards my mothers. Amber, however, took it upon herself to discover the whole truth behind the secrets for herself and her sisters.
Overall I found this book a fast read and enjoyable. You won't regret adding this to your reading list.
I usually love anything Elle writes. A well written story that kept me interested the whole way. If you want a quality read, which I've noticed can be hard to come by these days, then I definitely recommend this book
Such an amazing book of learning who you are meant to be and how to survive in a whole new world. But first you must master your newly found powers. And out run the enemies that will stop at nothing to capture you or worse. There are a great group of friends and characters that make this book a quick, fun and fast read. Cannot wait for book 2!!
I loved the author’s series Bourbon Street Boys and was looking forward to this new series.
Maybe because I am older, not a fan or rock stars, all the gals pregnant at the same time, a tad unrealistic, etc, I have to say I was disappointed.
The plot nor the characters held my attention nor did I care for them.
Because I have great respect fo this author, I have given it a 3 star.
I was gifted this copy by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Amber is book one in the brand new series, Red Hot Love, by Elle Casey. I love diving in to a new series by an author I adore. This one has a completely different feeling than her other books. It completely sets it apart. At first, I was a bit surprised. But the further I got into the book, the more I forgot about what I went in expecting and just enjoyed the story.
Amber Fields is twenty four years old and lives in central Maine on a communal farm called Glenhollow Farms. Amber was raised on the farm along with Emerald Collins and Rose Lancaster, all the same age. All three girls had different mothers who also lived on the farm. All the girls called all the women their “Mothers.” Some called the farm a “hippie commune.” Does wearing natural fibers, growing your own food and selling it at a farm stand, harvesting your own honey, make them hippies? Maybe in a sense. But all three girls were intelligent, loving women. They knew nothing of their fathers. Until the day a fancy lawyer showed up on their doorstep with his shiny shoes and equally shiny car, and a briefcase full of papers, offers from fathers they didn’t even know existed.
When the truth comes out, the girls realize their mothers haven’t told them the truth. Their fathers are members of a legendary 90’s rock band. But where have they been all their lives? Why didn’t they try to contact them before? When it becomes apparent that one of them will have to go to New York if they want any answers, Amber volunteers. She’s the most outgoing of the three. Just a quick flight in, tell the men just what they think of them showing up after all this time. Then right back home she will go. Only things didn’t exactly work out that way.
Tyler (Ty) Stanz is the only young member of the group, a replacement lead guitarist. Ty and Amber are off to a rocky start but there are sparks there, definite chemistry. And Ty is your textbook tortured, hot as heck, smoldering, moody, talented, did I say hot, rock star. Amber is a fixer. She has a gift for helping people find solutions. And she sees Ty as a challenge. To help him fix whatever is troubling him. Not to mention, she wouldn’t mind being able to spend a little more time with him.
When the band makes Amber an offer to stay for two weeks in New York to help them out, she sees it as an opportunity to get the answers she and her sisters crave about their fathers. And an opportunity to get to know Ty. It’s also a chance to see if she made a mistake staying on the farm after college. That maybe she is missing what the city has to offer. But this lifestyle is nothing like she could imagine, the paparazzi, the invasion of privacy, life in the spotlight. The sacrifice these men make to be able to play their music. Could she ever really get used to that?
“I don’t know where we’re going. But I’m looking forward to getting there. Something is happening between us, and it doesn’t feel all bad for a change.”
I did enjoy this book. What bothered me some is Amber’s naivety. She was homeschooled so had limited exposure to the world but she had been to college although it was never said where. But she did have some idea of how people outside her circle were. What I loved about Amber, though, was her ability to break through the iciest of exteriors. For instance her stoic driver. Her mission was to make him smile. To get him to engage with her and watching her at work was so adorable. Her demeanor was so cute and I laughed out loud more than once.
It really was fun watching Amber take New York by storm. Will I be continuing the series? Definitely, yes. Emerald’s story is next and I can’t wait to read it. One thing, though, is for some reason I have a huge interest in this lawyer, Mr. Lister. He is so buttoned up. I can’t remember if he is married or not. But I find myself wanting to know more about him. To get his story. So maybe I’ll get more of him in the coming books.
“Buckle your seat belts, boys. Hurricane Amber is about to make landfall.”
