A funny, adorable, and relatable set of comics that are just as relevant today as they were when first published in 2018. Struggles with ADHD, love of cats (and puppers), and dealing with the dumpster fire that is our world sometimes all connect with me.
I especially appreciated the section at the end about the difficulties of being an artist in the online era but also the importance of continuing to grow as an artist and share your work, both for what creativity brings your soul and also to lighten the world as a whole.
I enjoyed this comic a lot. It was funny, and also relatable. There were several times throughout that I thought "Yes, that's me!", or "I get that feeling. I've been through that!". It almost felt like the author had a sneak peak into my life at times. The author's drawings were really cute as well. I'm definitely going to be buying a physical copy of this for myself, and picking up her other volumes as well.
Sarah Anderson does a wonderful job of quickly capturing the humor in life's ups, downs, and relationships (both with friends and with pets). I will continue to devour everything she writes!
I love Sarah Andersen's comics, they are always so funny and relatable! Highly recommend catching up on the series!
Any Sarah Anderson book goes on my bookshelf automatically. I even purchased this book for a few friends as gifts. It's that good and that relatable for any new adult/millennial. As a librarian, this is the group that is hardest to get into our libraries and having humorous books where the main character could resemble them or a friend are exactly the types of books that we need more of to recommend!
Delightfully entertaining. Anderson's illustrations are adorable as well as hilarious. I love everything she's put out & this book is no exception.
I was already already familiar with Sarah Andersen’s work, but I was still so happy to find out there was going to be a collection published. The art is fun and so lifelike, but the topics Andersen talks about are still fleshed out perfectly. It is very relatable and really incapsulates the feeling of equating your life to herding cats (and what it feels like to have to literally herd cats sometimes).
Part of me would like to just write, love it, love it, love it, as my review. Sarah Andersen's comics are pure gold, which are difficult to review without just pasting a handful of them. Still, she does a great job once again of showing the charms and difficulties of twenty-first century adulthood.
Sarah Anderson's comics "Herding Cats" will have readers laughing out loud.
Each comic is so relatable that readers will find themselves constantly amazed at how right Sarah is when it comes to everyday life.
I have definitely become a fan of Sarah Anderson and I highly recommend purchasing this collection.
5 OUT OF 5 STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I really loved Sarah Andersen's latest collection of comics, in fact I have reread this one several times. They are so relatable and funny, I can't wait to see what she puts out next.
Absolutely hilarious! I just reread this. Much needed humor in these stressful times.
Thank you for the opportunity to read, Netgalley.
After following Sarah Anderson on Instagram for so long it was nice to see her art in a book. Funny, entertaining, and far too relatable, I love this book.
'Herding Cats' by Sarah Andersen is the third collection of Sarah's Scribbles about living cozy and having lots of cats.
This collection, like the previous ones, includes some cute comics about owning pets and wanting more. There are comics about bad self-esteem, and adulting. The latter half of the book is an essay from the author/artist encouraging younger people to create art and ignore how cruel the internet has become.
I liked this collection, and the essay in the latter half. It's about what I expected based on reading previous collections.
I received a review copy of this ebook from Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.
Delightful! Sarah Anderson has a way of being relatable and bold in her comics. Herding cats is no different with her same simple black and white illustrations and endless wit. I would certainly recommend this along with her many other comics.
It seems like we have been flooded with similar introvert-theme based comics nowadays....
I have heard a lot about Andersen but this is my first read by her. Most of tropes, I have already seen but it was funny regardless :)
Solid 3.5 stars
Herding Cats is Sarah Andersen’s third volume of Sarah’s Scribbles, a collection of webcomics. I enjoyed reading the first two a lot so I was looking forward to this one a lot.
The comics are still nice, but I felt that maybe they were getting a little bit repetitive at this point. While relatable, a certain point can only be made so many times. This edition however also included some writing on writing (for the internet in particular). That was a nice addition.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a free electronic copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
Liked it. The drawings were funny and super enjoyable.
Super quick and easy to read Relatable.
Love it.
Can someone give me more from Sarah Andersen pleaseeee?
I love her and need this book in my collection. This book was soo uplifting, although I discounted a star because her previous books were funnier and didn't look like something I already read (being the first one my fave) but I still love her style <3
I think Sarah Andersen is a great artist in the way she humorously captures daily life in her comics. Some of the sections are just plain fun, featuring her cats (we love to see) and others have small messages about our society and world (e.g. climate change).
Overall, it's the sort of book that is difficult not to enjoy, and that will easily get anyone in a great mood.
And if you need any other reason to pick this up, I give you two words: Buff Cat.
Yes, you heard me right.
If you’ve spent some time around the humour side of the Internet (which I recommend you do sparingly as Internet users have weird ideas of the word and meaning of ‘funny’) – you’ve most likely seen some of Sarah’s Scribbles. They’re short. They’re funny. They’re so darn relatable.
This was no different from her other work I have seen. She blends humour with everything that I’m feeling – yes, coffee might make me more anxious, but it might also make me productive. Yes, I am known for calling my cat everything under the sun (he’s my sunshine, my lamb, my chicken, etc etc), but does he know what his actual name is and can he tell other cats what his name is?
But at the same time it speaks about humour and cats and life – it also speaks a little about how we treat ourselves – burnout, seeing our accomplishments as failure and all. And that it’s okay to take a break once in a while or to be happy and proud of ourselves even when we create something that’s not a total 100% from the start.
