I was so excited that Nic was finally getting his book! And Constance was a perfect match for him! There is a little bit of insta- attraction, but just like the previous books, the plot had the perfect mix of action and romance!
Can't wait to read the other books in the series!

Constance and her sister Abigail are antique dealers so when Constance finds a box with four dragon statues and a necklace she knows she has something worth a lot. When she brings it her grandfathers friend Mario he contacts two buyers knowing that they would both be interested. Constance doesn’t tell anyone she has four statues not even Nic who is one of the men contacted but the other man takes her sister convinced she must have all four. When Nic sets eyes on Constance his dragon knows she is his mate but Nic doesn’t trust anyone except his brothers. When Constance decides she is gonna turn Nic over to the kidnappers she is going to do and save Nic later. This story is sweet and dangerous and Constance is fearless but loving, but is it enough to save Nic.

I read Drakon's Tears first, which should have been after this one, so that made a difference. That book dealt with the aftermath of this one, so it covered a lot of the plot and such, so this one wasn't much of a surprise. Ended up skimming a bit, and wanted more of Nic and Constance and less of the Knights. Creepy. Would recommend, but suggest you read the books in order.

I loved the first book in this series (Drakon's Promise) and I was delighted to find that Drakon's Past was just as good if not better than it. The two main characters were really well written and their story arc was well thought out and well written. I can't wait for the next book in this series. I am reviewing this book based on an ARC received from NetGalley in exchange for an honest opinion.

What a ride! It starts off strong and really doesn't let the pace down. Seeing the struggle between Nic and his dragon was a fabulous part of the story. He recognized Constance as his mate, but the circumstances make it seem as if they can't be together. Great dragon shifter romance!

Nic has been a bit on the outskirts of the previous books in this series. Unlike the other brothers who tend to keep to themselves, Nic seems to spend a lot of time with regular humans. He loves to party and act the playboy, particularly in Vegas. What his brothers don’t know, though, is that he’s doing it in a desperate attempt to stave off the Big Sleep. Apparently, when drakons eventually get bored with the world, they lay down and sleep forever. (Everyone implies this is just “sleep” and not death, but I don’t know, that sure sounds like dying to me.) Nic’s been feeling the urge to just lay down and give up, so he leads a wild lifestyle in an attempt to keep up his interest in living. When he hears about a woman selling highly unusual dragon statues, he goes to investigate and finds Constance. She sells antiques and other collectibles to support herself and her teenage sister. When her sister gets kidnapped by the Knights of the Dragon, she knows the statues are more important than she thought. She doesn’t trust Nic and doesn’t know how he’s involved, but she doesn’t have a lot of options for getting her sister back. She and Nic circle each other and do what they can to rescue her sister.

I have to be honest, I was pretty disappointed in this book. I didn’t like Nic or Constance much. I didn’t really feel much of a deep connection between them, just plain and simple lust. I didn’t like that Nic takes advantage of Constance’s vulnerability and worry about her sister. Constance too is wishy washy. I got why she wouldn’t trust Nic, but then she keeps getting all horny for him and letting him come around. I just never felt much there.

There were too many loose threads in the book, too. This idea of the Big Sleep is never properly explored. Why do drakons do this? How does Nic avoid it? It’s kind of plopped there and then never referred to again. There is no resolution to the larger story arc of the Knights of the Dragon. Sure one villain gets beaten here, but what about the rest of them? How come the drakons don’t put a stop to the group once and for all? What happened to Karina Azarov (the head of the Knights)? Now all four of the drakon brothers have gotten their stories. We’re told there are more drakons out there but we haven’t met or even heard the name of any others. So, is the series going to continue with a drakon we’ve never met, or is it over, leaving tons of unresolved story lines? I don’t know what to think.

Even worse, the one thread that IS resolved is Nic’s mommy issues. Thousands of years ago, when he was a child, his mom threw him out and let the villagers chase him away. He’s had a huge chip on his shoulder since then and doesn’t trust anyone, particularly women, because he’s sure they’re all rotten. Of course, it’s a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy. Because he doesn’t trust Constance he doesn’t tell her the truth, and because she doesn’t know the truth she has to betray him in order to save her sister. And then in the end, Nic gets a resolution of his issues that was so trite and unbelievable. It was just silly.

It’s always a bummer when a book you’ve been waiting for lets you down. If the author continues the series, however, I'll continue reading.

This is my first read of the now four books in this series about dragon shifter brothers and their fated life-mates. I was able to follow the plot well but perhaps missed some plot detail because of this. Nevertheless I enjoyed this book a lot. It was an intriguing world this author created. Nic was an attractive and interesting character but I did feel that his betrayal/abandonment issue was a little weak. Yes, his mother betraying him was beyond devastating but it was 4000 years ago! Surely he had some positive experiences during that period! We all have childhood issues but most of us are able to put them into some perspective during our measly human lifespans-again, he's had four millennia. That being said, I still enjoyed this book. The plot and background were fairly engrossing and I did like Nic and Constance. I look forward to reading the previous books as well as any new ones in the series. All in all, a good read.

If it seems too good to be true then it usual is. The same applies here.

Constance Owens has a talent that has gotten her into a spot of bother. 4 statues and greed have led to her sister being kidnapped and she will do anything to get her back and I. Mean. Anything.
Nicodemus Wilde is near the deep sleep of drakon’s where they are never to awaken again. All of his brothers have found their mates and he is alone but is until an antiques dealer contacts him about a statue.

The whole mate thing went faster than it usually does but there inner monologue of oh she doesn’t want, oh he doesn’t want me did me bloody nut in. I mean really, dude you are four thousand years old. You should know better.

So far I have loved the first three books in the series but here my love ran out. I didn’t like the plot for the MC of the book. IMO I found it to be flimsy at best. I mean really Constance how about telling him the plan instead of lying to him and I don’t know betraying him like that? It would have been so much easier but then again there wouldn’t have been a book.

The icing on the cake was when she was told to not open the door and what does she do? Yes peeps she opens that bloody door to see what is going on outside the soundproof room. Woe and behold she gets a gun held to her head. I mean really how stupid can you be?

I skimmed as the sex scenes bored me and my mini rant is now over.

I like how the overall story progressed with the Knights of the Dragon and the Dragon Guard coming more prominent in the book now.

The question now though is if the series stops here, it would be a shame if it did stop because it has a lot of potential. I would like to see if any of the other drakon’s will be found and have books.

I'm in the minority here.

I have a lot of mixed opinions of this story. On one hand, a liked the concept and idea of the story line, but on the other hand, I'm just not so sure it worked for me. Overall, it was the fourth installment to a series that I've been enjoying. And if there's another one, I'll probably pick that up too. 3/5

Caught in an unexpected situation, Constance handles herself to the best of her abilities with the knowledge she hasin order to save her family. Nic, our last Drakon brother, is losing interest in the world, but finds himself drawn to Constance and, more importantly, her connection to the Knights of the Dragons. As these two follow a dark path to reach their goals secrets are unearthed both good and bad that bring them to something more.
You definitely won't want to miss this latest installment of Ms. Walters's great series! I can't wait to see what she has planned for the next one!

Thanks to publisher and Netgalley for allowing me to read this story.

I have been a huge fan of this series since reading Drakon’s Promise in 2016. I’ve stalked this series on Netgalley. Once again, the cover is a hunk, though I miss the tattoos and dragons in the other backgrounds. The blurb is catchy (Dragon shifters! Yeeeesssss!). So, I was thrilled to receive advanced reader copies in exchange for an honest review. And, honestly, I love this series!

Like the earlier installments, Drakon’s Past starts out like typical a romantic suspense novel – introducing you to the characters, giving them backgrounds, laying out a general idea of where the plot is going. Since we’ve met Nic in the earlier books, it wasn’t a surprise that his lady love would be interested in collecting and that a mutual interest in antiques would bring them together. Or that they would both have paranormal abilities. He, obviously, is the son of a dragon and a drakon shifter. Constance, the heroine, has a special talent, as well: she’s good at finding things and recognizing treasures. A handy skill when that’s how you make your living.

As for the plot, well, this one fought me a little more than the earlier books. Predictably, there was a kidnapping. But, this time it was the heroine’s sister that was taken by the Knights of the Dragon. Nic has to deal with his 4,000-year-old abandonment issues, so he wasn’t surprised when Constance betrays him. And, unlike with his brothers, Nic’s dragon didn’t sit up and say she’s MINE, his sort of perked up and was like…she’s interesting. So, the possessive, inherent bond wasn’t quite right. Maybe that’s because Nic was heading towards the sleep. But, mostly it just left me feeling that theirs wasn’t a relationship that would last. The story moves very quickly over a matter of days, and there is no trust or solid basis to build that future with.
The biggest issue I had, though, is that he came running when she called, and left when she kicked him out after their first quickie on the couch. That didn’t read well for either of them and didn’t sit well with me. It was an obvious plot device and made me sad. The writing just wasn’t as tight and awesome as it was in the earlier novels.

Which brings up the question: Is the series over? I dunno. There are only four brothers, so you would THINK that it was over, but it didn’t tie off any loose ends for what happens with the Knights. What about the other Drakons Tarrant has been in touch with? Will there be more in the series? If not, why wasn’t there a handy little epilogue to tie everything in a nice, neat bow?

Overall, this book left me wanting. Both one more revision to get rid of the connection / plot device issues and – IF this is the end of the series – to clear that up for the reader. But, if this ISN’T the end, then YES, it left me wanting more in the series! I really do love these brothers and their ladies.

I gave it 2.5 stars

DRAKON'S PAST was by far my least favorite book of the series.

Since this series is all about the romance I will start there. The insta-love between Constance and Nic was a little too unbelievable and there was no real bonding time involved before they jumped into bed. I never really felt the connection that was supposed to be there which made it hard to root for them to become a couple.

The situations they were in was also a little too much. Constance's reactions didn't always seem to match the situations. One minute she is ready to murder Nic because she thinks he has her sister and the next she is all gaga over him. She is told not to do something yet she does it anyways and ends up in trouble. It was extremely annoying.

One thing I did like about DRAKON'S PAST was the information we got about the Dragon's Guard. Now that all 4 brothers have their mates this might be the way the author plans to continue the series.

I have really enjoyed most of the past love stories and books in this series, but DRAKON'S PAST was a bust for me and I don't feel like it added much to the series.

Drakon's Past, N.J. Walters

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre: Romance

I missed the first two in this series, but each are stand-alone reads, though the stories are closely connected. I really enjoyed book three but this one felt a little too simplistic for me. I am intrigued by the idea of the Dragon Guard though, and hope that even though each brother now has their own lady that the series will continue. There's much more to come out with the age old hunter enemies, and the ew found Dragon Guard organisation.

I liked constance, understood by she did what she did, families come first, amongst everyone would have done the same. I did find it hard that she pulled off what she was asked to do, and that Nic didn't find it all all suspicious when she – well, - jumped him is the best way to describe it. Really? In the terror of threats, kidnapping, death of someone close this somewhat reserved lady wants to crawl all over him and lick him up and that doesn't trigger suspicion?
I liked Nic, and his brothers of course, but holding a lifelong grudge against women because of betrayal was a bit hard to believe. He must have met some trustworthy ladies in that time.

The story is pretty simplistic compared to the last one and felt a little too light for me to rate higher. The solutions followed the problems so quickly that there wasn't time to worry about things going wrong. It was a decent read, but not a great one for me, and I found myself skimming just to get to the end and finish it.

Constance Owens has a gift that comes in hand with her line of work. She just never thought that her line of work would get her involved with a group of very unsavory people . She could not have imagined the world that she would find herself in. She could have only dreamed of having the chance at a romance that would change her life. She finds more adventure after locating a very special statue then she had ever in her life imagined possible. Constance finds that her life begins just when she thought it would end.

Nicodemus (Nic) Wilde had seen much over his lifetime. He had endured much and settled for even less. He finds that life just does not hold that much appeal to him. His brothers are finding their mates. He finds that his connection to a woman that he comes across may be a mistake. She are with people that have made it their life's mission to destroy the Drakon.

Without going back through the previous books and confirming it, I must say that I don't recall very much about Nic. Nic and Constance coming together was more of greed than anything else. One man greedy for one thing or another tells others of a special find and it happens they bother are interested in the find. Things get a bit intense after that. Nic and Constance find that they need to rely on each other as things get dangerous for them both. .

This was the last book of this series and I was so hoping for something over the top. A way to drag me kicking and screaming to get back to my eReader. I love dragons. I love the adventure. I love their mating and find that one. I love the bonds of their connection.

I was just saddened that there was not something more. NJW does a great job with her writing and provides a direction for her series to proceed on. I was wanting more. I'm not sad, not disappointed. I just wanted more. I will have to sit down one weekend and read them all again.

I’ve been (im)patiently waiting for Nicholas’ story in this excellent Blood of the Drakon series. And wow, did I enjoy Constance and Nic’s romance.

This was a bit different from the others in the series. Nic has been a bit of an enigma in the past books . . . his brothers have worried about him endlessly. And I love their brotherly connection! Nic has always been a bit of a loner—lonely surrounded by people and beauty. He’s not a typical Drakon who hides away, he’s out and about in the world, but always on guard for his own safety. Until he meets Constance.

Constance has the gift of finding valuable items mixed in with junk. She’s a bit of a treasure finder—something that helps her stay ahead in her profession as an antiques buyer and seller. She knows valuable items on sight. And when she discovers the set of dragon statues, she knows there’s more to them than they appear—she can feel it.

And, whoa, there really is much more to those statues than meets the eye. And those statues bring Nic into her life—and those statues but both of their safety at risk. Can Nic and Constance find their way through the magic and mayhem surrounding the statues? Will they both trust the other when push comes to shove and their lives hang in the balance?

The heat between Nic and Constance was panty melting. I loved how they came together—that they found their way to each other. And that eventually they trusted each other. Drakon’s Past brings the series to an end, but the Drakons and their stories will stick with me much longer.

4.5 - "Can you ever forgive me..?" "...I don't know." Stars!

We return to the Blood of the Drakon series for the fourth, and what I am assuming is the final book; Drakon’s Past.

Nicodemus Wilde’s book has been a long time, coming and I was hoping that in the telling of his story the author would tie off all the loose ends, and make sure the villains from the previous three books got their just desserts. What we actually end up with is a whole different villain, although he is a member of The Knights of the Dragon and a load more loose ends in relation to the relatively unknown Dragon Guard, it is my hope that the author has a spin-off series in the works that will actually give readers the closure that still hasn’t been really been achieved in the four books of this series.

How had her ordinary life become something out of a thriller novel…

That said, as you can see from my rating I really enjoyed this book. Constance got a bit annoying at points, but Nic just like his brothers before him, was extremely hard not to love. Their story like all the previous books was pretty easy to get along with, and the relationship between them developed at break neck speed, even though both are reluctant to admit their attraction, Nic’s dragon is ready to sit up and beg as soon as he see’s Constance, and her feelings for him are pretty much the same (minus the Dragon). Which with the villains out to get them, as you would expect, leads them into all sorts of adventures and a few scrapes along the way.

"Hate me later… Love me now."

The series in general has been a pretty enjoyable read, as mentioned in my opening paragraph I just don’t think it’s been tied up to be classed as everyone getting the HEA. So I cross my fingers and hope there is more to come, the publisher really does not do their authors any favors by giving next to no information regards to upcoming releases/new series until the very last minute, and it frustrates me no end. However, the author has a writing style that agrees with this reader, so I will certainly be looking for more from her in the future.

Caught between a Drakon and a hard place...

Constance didn't mean to stumble across some dangerous artifacts that would bring the Knights of the Dragon to her freakin doorstep but she does and when they kidnap her sister in exchange for the statues, Constance is desperate enough to hand them over, just to get her sister and their once safe lives back to normal. Finding out that dragons are real and that the Knights mean business when it comes to enslaving the drakons left on earth, Constance is torn between protecting her sister and letting the Knights succeed in their evil plans.

When Nic finds out that the Knights have threatened Constance and that they're closer than ever to gaining unprecedented power over the drakons, its a race to stop Constance from making a disastrous mistake. Nic understands the importance and the love of family and he promises to do everything in his power to help Constance and keep the Knights far away from the coveted statues. But how much trust can he garner from Constance when they've only just met and her sister's life hangs in the balance?

What I loved:
I have been a fan of the drakons since book one and each brother is special in his own way. Nic had been an intriguing brother, the only one that chooses to surround himself with humans rather than take the safe and secluded route. He definitely ticks differently than his brothers and his back story is a lot sadder too.

I don't want to spoil it but I loved that he was able to find some closure and get answers to his past and how the events in his past rippled onto his future. I'm a sucker for happy endings and although it was bittersweet, I'm happy he finally got the truth when it comes to his beginning.

He was a strong person but he definitely became stronger, not only because of his past coming to light but also because it allowed him to let go and stop putting up barriers when it came to emotional attachments.

This was a lot angstier than the previous books but it hints *fingers crossed* that even though he's the last brother, this might not be the last book in the series. I hope so! I'm dying to know more about the Dragon Guard.

DRAKON’S PAST was an exciting ride that kept me glued to the pages and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s the fourth book in N.J. Walters paranormal series, Blood of the Drakon. DRAKON'S PAST is Nic, a fire dragon, and Constance, a antique dealer's story. Danger, romance and sexy dragons make this series addicting! N. J. Walter's paranormal world of drakons (half dragons/ half men) and the evil knights that hunt them, set in present day, is unique and exciting and she keeps me anticipating more. I highly recommend this series for paranormal romance fans looking for a great dragon shifter series.

I was happy to continue on in this series thanks to the past ones. I also was waiting for Nic's , it seems in a series you are always waiting for that one. This one is also a close one with it right away gonna pull at the emotional meter. Constance has her gifts but also happens to be the one for him. slowly we are pulled to the edge thanks to this pairing. She seems to know how to locate trouble too which is one of the strings. This one is intense with you falling fast and hard. Once in this world you suffer every thing there is to offer plus enjoying it all at the same time. As you finish you will reach the point of one satisfied reader.

Constance Owen has a unique talent, an innate ability to find hidden treasures – what a boon for someone who buys and sells artefacts and antiques! The Dragon sculptures she discovered hidden in a cellar give off a weird vibe which makes her uneasy. She wants to sell them quickly but decides to offer them one at a time. This leads to two very different factions endeavouring to obtain it and the other three. With her sister in peril, should she follow her head or her heart? Can she trust anyone to help her?

A Drakon, over four thousand years old, is lonely, especially after his brothers found their mates. When he is contacted about a dragon statue he needs to discover more. When he meets the person selling it he knows she is his fated mate – but why is she working with the Dragon Hunters? Can he trust her or is he risking himself and his brothers by being with her? What is her secret? Can he protect her and his own kind?

The story has a brilliant eclectic mix of characters, plenty of suspense and tension, as well as murder, mystery and romance! It flows beautifully, making it a real page turner and enthralling read. I have no hesitation in highly recommending it to anyone who enjoys stories packed with strong alpha males and independent, feisty females involved in a dilemma strewn race against time and enemies to help protect those more vulnerable than themselves. It is a delightful and fast paced addition to the series and a story which I thoroughly enjoyed reading.

Many thanks to Entangled for providing me with a copy of this novel to read via NetGalley. The review, however, is my own honest opinion after reading the novel.
