I admit, I jumped into this series with book 4 (this one) so I did have a couple of questions, but those were answered as soon as I looked at what other stories I now NEED to read. Constance is the lady I want to be when I grow up. Kind, caring, compassionate and innocent in the ways of the world. Her sister is her whole life and she will do anything for her. But then Constance meets with Nicodemus and her life turns 180 degrees. What follows opens her to the wider world around her and it is the way she adapts and changes that makes her so interesting a character.

Nic has reached breaking point. He's seriously considering taking an eternal sleep. He has tired of the world and his past is tangled in his present and he had a rather jaded view.

Constance has a very hand quirk, she can find very rare and unique artefacts. She is also a super protective sister and she would step in front of a bullet to keep her safe. but can she take on a Drakon?

Nic and Constance are instantly attracted to each other but both are lugging around a multitude of baggage! Whilst the road to love was rocky, you can tell that even though they have to work at it, they'll be good together. I love the fact that the heroines aren't just arm candy, they have talents all of their own and they don't have to rely on the men to get them out of sticky situations.

We do learn a bit more about the Dragon Guard and the background of the story but the story arc itself doesn't accelerate much. I'm hoping for the story to move on a bit in the next book. But otherwise a great read.

Drakon's Past is a novel of dragon shifters, romance, and secret societies from N.J. Walters' Blood of the Drakon series.

This quick-moving fantasy introduces collector, Constance Owens, who has a knack for finding valuable treasures surrounded by less than ordinary things. This time, though, her precious find has a strange aura surrounding it and she plans on selling as fast as possible. Collecting the four powerful dragon statues sets off chain reaction with dangerous consequences. One of the buyers kidnaps Constance's sister and the other buyer, Nicodemus Wilde, offers to help Constance retrieve her. Nic especially wants to get his hands on the statues because they have the power to capture a dragon.

Constance and Nic are perfect for each other. It's basically love at first sight, but of course they're the last ones to know! I do appreciate how their romance is challenging and the trust between them isn't immediately there. They have something to work towards besides their present goals. This dragon-shifter romance will be familiar to fans of the sub-genre, but it has its own flare. There's a little action to counter the romance and camaraderie between Nic and his fellow dragon brothers that links the series together.

I admit to not reading the previous novels of this series, but I didn't feel completely left out of the loop. Walters adds in details here and there that allude to previous stories and expound on the world she's created. Readers of Donna Grant will enjoy this walk in Walters' land of dragons and secret societies!

These books are so much fun to read. Sure, there is a sort of formula to them all, but I don’t care! Each character is unique and their meeting with the differently stubborn dragons sets of a wild series of events.

Constance is really good at finding things. This works out well for her business of reselling vintage items but ends up landing her in hot water when she stumbles upon some dragon related artifacts at an estate sale. The Knights of the Dragon end up in play along with Nic, the solitary unmated dragon of the bunch. Nic is interested in the statues in the way he is interested in amassing a collection, but soon learns that these statues might be nothing but trouble, rumored to be able to capture a dragon if properly aligned. The big bad, however, ends up taking matters into his own hands while Nic finds this information out, taking Constance’s sister hostage.

Poor Constance really can’t catch a break throughout this story. First she’s paired off with the dragon who has the most trust issues. Then she’s got to find a compromise so she doesn’t hate herself when she’s inevitably tasked with betraying Nic or losing her sister. Sure, there are plenty of different decisions I would have made along the way, but with such a fast and furious set of action, I could easily buy Constance’s choices. These two are a great pair and my only complaint would be wanting to see more from them! Maybe next time? I’d love to revisit all the couples in some epic follow-up book. Maybe there could be some massive destruction of the Knights, too. That would be awesome…

If there is one thing I love, its dragons and all the fire that goes with them and this book has lots of beautiful fire. Nic is one hot dragon and the sparks that fly between Nic and Constance are sizzling hot. The characters are strong and charismatic, drawing readers into their story of a romance that is full of emotional turbulence that keeps this romance on rocky ground throughout.

Anticipation builds keeping readers on edge as a dangerous enemy threatens Nic and Constance with some mysterious magical artifacts. The story is chock full of suspense and surprising twists that ensure readers want to know every last detail.

N.J. Walters brings exciting words to life with vivid well written worlds and her worlds are always filled with vibrant, captivating characters and Blood of the Drakon is definitely one of my favorites as her world of Dragons has some unique qualities that makes it a bit different from others. Drakon’s Past had me completely spellbound from beginning to end and I am looking forward to reading the next book by N.J. Walters.

This is the 4th book of the series. From the mountains, to the sea, to the a hidden lair at the depths of the earth. Each brother has their own terrain. This time, we are going to the dessert.

How should I put it?

All of her books are action packed. Each page is full of unexpected twist and turn that will make you long for more. The ability of each of the women in their lives compliments to their respective mates.

This book, made me cry in more ways than one. I have read this book like, three weeks ago, but the impact of it, I can still feel it as I write this review, 01/26/2018. The raw emotion that Nic felt will make you cry. ~or not it depends on your emotional state.

Over all, this book opens up old wound and how the mysterious group of people who help drakons came about. Although, I would love to read more about them.

I would love to read more about this series! More power!

Drakon’s Past is book four in the Blood of the Drakon series by N.J. Walters. This series, whew! What a ride it’s been. Sexy drakons (human mothers, dragon fathers) check, strong, feisty women to love them, check, plenty of smexy times, check, and intense suspense, check. I’m not sure if this series is complete or not. It feels like it might be. All four brothers have had their own book.

This book centers on Nicodemus Wilde, the one brother that lives out in the open. He lives in Las Vegas and spends his time gambling, and buying and selling antiquities. We haven’t gotten to know much of him in the previous books. Nic, though he lives among people, has felt alone his entire four thousand years of existence. He has felt, lately, that he was getting ready for the deep sleep, a time when a drakon gives up, just goes somewhere and curls up and goes to sleep. Nic got a call from a dealer he did business with letting him know he had something that might be of interest to him, a dragon statue with gemstone eyes. This call would change Nic’s life as he knew it.

Constance Owens and her younger sister Abigail had continued to run their grandfather’s business of finding and selling antiquities after his death. Constance had a gift for just knowing when something special was nearby. Somehow her senses always led her to the most wonderful finds. That is how she ended up finding a set of four dragons, each with gem stone eyes. She showed one of the dragons to a friend and fellow dealer, Mario, knowing he might have a buyer for it. Little did she know that Mario would contact two buyers in hopes of driving the price up, one they could trust, and one they could not.

One of the buyers was a member of the Knights of the Dragon, a group dedicated to controlling or destroying dragons. This man was evil and ruthless. He knew the dragon statues were special, that together they could give him great power. And he would do whatever it took to obtain them.

Thus began Constance and Nic’s journey. Nic doesn’t trust. When he and Constance met, he knew immediately that there was something between them, some unseen bond. But he would not allow his heart to get involved. He couldn’t risk it.

“Constance Owens was special. There was something about her that made all his senses sing.”

“There was something about him that set all her senses humming. It was the same sensation she got when there was something special nearby, something precious that others didn’t see.”

Nic and Constance are thrown into danger, facing up against a man who held great power and resources. Would it be enough to take down a fire breathing dragon though? Both Nic and Constance fight to protect themselves and each other while also trying to protect their own heart. There are many secrets revealed and Nic and Constance are tested over and over again. Their connection becomes stronger but would it be enough? Can Nic every truly trust her?

I have loved this series from the first book. As I said above, I’m not sure if this is the final book or not. I do recommend starting at the beginning of the series so you can meet all four brothers and have a better understanding of their history. But you can also read this as a stand alone. Enough information is given that you wouldn’t feel at all confused. If you are a lover of sexy dragon shifters that will truly take your breath away, then you will love these four brothers. Thanks to N.J. Walters for this fantastic series!

“For the first time in centuries, Nic was at peace.”

Drakon’s Past is a stand-alone novel, although it is the fourth in N.J. Walter’s Blood of the Drakon series. I was able to follow the story no problem, not having read any of the previous in the series but did feel there were details missing.
In this novel we have two sisters, Constance and Abigail, who find and sell antiques (junk). Our heroine, Constance, has found some dragon statues (which of course aren't actually only statues but also possess a magical ability). Two buyers are interested in the statues. One is our hero, Nic, who wants them to keep dragons safe. But the other buyer is a bad character who kidnaps Constance's sister to ensure he gets the statues. Nic promises to help Constance get her sister back.
These two main characters have awesome chemistry. What entailed was fun story. Nic being a dragon is fated to have one destined mate, who he discover is Candace. There's a lot of danger pushing the characters together but the biggest hurdle for Nic is his reluctance to trust a woman.
Greatly enjoyed the author's no nonsense writing style. This is a fun must-read PNR! You should pick it up.

Drakon's Past is the story of the 4th brother, Nic. I feel like I have been waiting for his story forever. Nic is very different from his brothers. He isn't a recluse like they were, he enjoys being around people, and he is a fire dragon. Nic lives in Las Vegas and discovers a woman who is attempting to sell a dragon statue. However, Jeremiah Dent of the Knights of the Dragon wants the statue as well.

Constance is a simple woman who has a strange talent for finding valuable things among the junk. Raised by her grandfather, she lives a quite life dealing in antiques with her younger sister, Abigail. She can sense that the statues are dangerous or bad in some way. Both Dent and Nic want them, but she can't imagine that anyone actually believes in dragons! With her sister kidnapped by Dent, Constance will do whatever it takes to get her back. But, she is wildly attracted to Nic and he is the one who is helping her, not threatening her.

Nic's brothers are in contact throughout the book and I enjoyed that. Even though they live in different parts of the USA, they are in communication and care about each other. Nic and Constance have a bit of a 'fated mate' thing going on, but its not quite the insta-love that normally happens and I think a lot of readers appreciate that. The plot is filled with drama and the clash between the Knights and the dragons really reaches a pinnacle. Drakon's Past gives you the romance you want and the action you need! I fell in love with all the brothers and recommend this series if you like unique shifters!

Good ending to the series. I enjoyed the story, but I just remember that the other ones held my attention more. That doesn’t make this a bad read at all, the storyline and plot were very interesting and original. I love the Drakons and the backstory and how it influences how they are now.

Nic was interesting, but I just didn’t get wrapped up in him as the brothers. There just seemed something missing from his character. Constance was a strong woman and put in a bad spot. The side story with Oscar was interesting. As always hot steamy loving.

I enjoy Ms Walters writing and have read lots her stories. She made this series great!

Received an ARC from NetGalley. Thank you!

Drakon’s Past by NJ Walters was such a surprise. I have read a few of Ms Walters’ books and have enjoyed them all, but I loved Drakon’s Past!
The writing was fantastic, as is to be expected from this author. I particularly enjoyed the world building that had the unusual concept where the Drakons were established from Dragons travelling from another dimension, and then, essentially abandoning their offspring when they didn’t turn out how they wanted them to. It was an intriguing idea, and one that I am hoping will be explored a bit more in future books. I loved the play on the mediaeval knights versus the dragons theme, taking it beyond mere physical combat to a metaphysical one.
I think what made this book stand out was the characterisation. Walters’ characters are always well developed, so that isn’t unusual. But I found myself particularly drawn to Nicodemus, he endured his heartbreaking history to find his mate (even if he refused to acknowledge it at first) only to know that she is going to betray him. It was almost a self-fulfilling prophecy, but at the same time, your heart broke for him. Constance was a very genuine character, and even Nic could, eventually, understand her betrayal was 100% reasonable. Of course, she didn’t want to do it, but what else was left for her to do?
Although I loved both Nic and Constance, I did get the occasional urge to bang their heads together. They were both so stubborn! But this frustration just made for a much more enjoyable read.
It will be interesting to see where this series goes from here. I must admit I am curious to learn the story of the drakon’s tears that Constance finds at the beginning of the story; and although the Knights have been defeated, they are certainly not yet vanquished!
Drakon’s Past is book four in the Blood of the Drakon series. It can be read as a standalone. I had not read any of the earlier books before reading this one. But I warn you, once you start in this world you will not want to stop and will have to go back to the beginning. I know I did!
If you enjoy dragon shifters and paranormal romance I cannot recommend Drakon’s Past by NJ Walters highly enough. This book was addictive, I devoured it as quickly as possible and just had to go back to the first book to read the stories of the other characters we meet in this book.
This one was 5 shiny stars!

Drakon's Past is the fourth instalment in N.J. Walters "Blood of the Drakon" series, but the stories are written in a way that you can pick up any book and still be captivated.

This is the story of Constance and Nic. Constance has a special 'gift' for determining the difference between what is good and what is evil, which is exceedingly valuable in her line of work. Through a twist of circumstance, she encounters Nic; and as with previous stories, Nic doesn’t trust easily, unless you are one of his brothers.

Drakon’s Past is another action-packed, entertaining read, and I’m sure others will find it as enjoyable as I did.

Constance Owens is an antique dealer. She has a talent for finding really special items, like the four dragon statues she discovered at the latest estate sale. There is something about them that makes her want to keep them close. So that means she must sell them quickly before she can't let them go.
When one of his contacts tells him of a beautiful dragon statue for sale Nicodemus Wilde knows he must have it at any cost. He doesn't realize just what it could cost him.
Our hero is a drakon, son of a dragon male and a human woman. He and his brothers are in danger from an organization that would imprison them if they could.
Our heroine is a brave young woman who just wants to protect her sister.
This is a sexy, all action story with great characters and lots of emotion. It's part of a series that is better read in order because of the back story with the enemies. But you can easily enjoy any one of them on their own.
I have loved each one. Very exciting.

A great instalment in the Blood of the Drakon series, but I would recommend that you read the others first. I liked Constance & Nic and the storyline was interesting and well paced. I'm not sure if this storyline is now finished, but if not then I will be there.

Nic finds a woman Constance who he believes is his mate but he is betrayed by her, in order to save her sister. He realizes this is the reason but he still feels betrayed. There is a lot that happens in the book and they end up together in the end. The book is a good read and I would recommend it.

Drakon's Past is the fourth book in the Blood of the Drakon series by N.J. Walters. This passionate book continues with the common myths concerning dragons; such as they hoard their riches but also bring new twists to the legends.

While this book did not have as strong of a female lead as some of the previous ones, it is still an enjoyable read. I may not forget Constance Owens, but it is more because of her deceptions than her ability to find lost treasures. On the other hand, Nicodemus Wilde was not a character I wished to see go into the deep sleep of forever. I liked him, wanting to see him find the same as his brothers had.

The plot is well-developed even with an emphasis on the “mating aspects of their relationship. The overall theme with the Knights of the Dragon and the Dragon Guard continued. The four dragon statues element in the story was one of my favorite parts. Overall, a pleasing addition to the series.

3 Stars - 3 Flames

I have a lot of mixed opinions of this story. On one hand, a liked the concept and idea of the story line, but on the other hand, I'm just not so sure it worked for me.

Constance collects unique items and it just so happens that she stumbles upon statues that hold more stories than she's was thinking imaginable. Add in the fact that her sister has been kidnapped and she's pretty desperate to find answers to a lot of her questions. To say she finds herself in a predicament would be an understatement.

Nic is one of the Drakon brothers and every bit cautious when it comes to trusting people outside of his brothers. He's lived for over four thousand years and it looks like he's ready to go in to his drakon sleep without ever finding his mate, unlike his brothers. That is until he runs across Constance. He can feel the mate "pull", but there's something that's still pulling him back.

The romance in the story was interesting for me. I didn't really get the grasp of their relationship aspect other than they were attracted to each other and were "supposed" to be mates. I found Constance to be annoying actually. It seemed like she did everything she was NOT supposed to do. I get it. Strong female and all. But...eh. I found Nic to be so sad and lonely that he was more desperate to find a mate than actually wanting one. If that makes sense. But I digress. Overall, it was the fourth installment to a series that I've been enjoying. And if there's another one, I'll probably pick that up too.

I loved reading the exciting and engaging paranormal romance. I voluntarily reviewed a book through NetGalley. When Constance buys four dragon figurines, her sister gets kidnapped and an unbelievably handsome, sexy man, Nic, wants to help her. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written full of romance, mystery, and intrigue, and a must read love story.
