What an amazing thriller this had so many twists and turns I felt like I was on a rollercoaster and I love a good plot twist fantastic
This was a brilliant read. As soon as I started reading this book I just knew I was going to love it. Highly recommended
Little Liar by Clare Boyd was another excellent book by Claire. I was hooked from the beginning till the end. This book had great twists and turns throughout that will have you up reading it till the early hours of the morning.
So be-aware!!
This is a great holiday read especially if you're fans of psychological thrillers you will love this book!
I highly recommend this book 5 Stars!!! Brilliant!!
Big thank you to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion
I really liked this author and this book did not disappoint, it was an appropriately paced, page turner that will have me hooked throughout the story.
Gemma's at the end of her rope and then...a neighbor calls the police. Gemma's got a secret and her daughter Rosie does too. And then Rosie disappears. No spoilers from me but this is a well crafted and twisty read that actually kept me guessing.
Unfortunately I didn't really enjoy this book. I found it rather dull and slightly predictable. I probably would not recommend it
This is a gripping read.
I found that this tale is haunting me. How easily lies can ruin a family. This is a book that you will not want to put down. The ending is not one that I could foresee a great read enjoy it very much a page turner
This book did a good way of showcasing the difficulties of being a good parent, and Gemma was a good character. I'm not sure that I would really classify this as a thriller, but it was a good read.
Gemma has a power job so she is away from the family most of the day. Her daughter Rosie is spoiled and requires lots of attention. The neighbor Mira is bored and has nothing else in her life but to watch the neighbors. The characters demand and require lots more love then they are getting.
It was good but I wanted to scream at the adult characters.
Clare Boyd captured the insecurities and frustrations that go along with being a good parent, or at least trying to be. The disconnect between neighbors is so easy to achieve these days. Boyd tells the story of a frazzled mother, a manipulating child and a neighbor who started out with good intentions. The writing is tight, and the rhythm is intriguing.
Rosie is a difficult child. Gemma is a stressed out mother. Their neighbour Mira is a woman concerned. They all bear their own burdens. And the all burdens start to unravel when Mira calls the police after another screaming match at Rosie and Gemma' s house to report a possible child abuse.
First - this book is not a thriller, but a human drama. I am opposed to these untruthful advertisements.
This book is about motherhood and how it can be burdened by one's own upbringing (mainly the hurts from the said upbringing).
While many of the psychological observations are spot-on, the novel itself is heavy-handed, burdened with too many psychological observations and quite prolonged. I applaud to the need to go deep and to truly see the past with the eyes wide-open to understand oneself. Yet, all the reflections and healing could come sooner - as the quite abrupt ending shows.
But while I leave the book as an unsatisfied reader, I need to chew some food for thought on the true "look to oneself in the mirror". Not a bad accomplishment, then!
This book was provided to me as a free ARC.
Unfortunately, I did not enjoy it as much as I thought I would. I found the characters quite annoying. ALthough I did begin to feel sorry for Gemma as things got more out of her control.. Mira was too much of a busybidy, poking her nose into things that were none of her concern.
If you loved The Couple Next Door and Big Little Lies, you’ll adore this razor-sharp, tense and utterly engrossing page turner about the people we choose to trust and the secrets we keep behind closed doors.
This is a tough one to review. I really didn't like it however, it was one of those books where I really could care less about the characters but I knew I would finish the book to see how it would end.
Little Liar
This was a thought provoking read for me and really made me think how actions and events could be viewed by nosey neighbours.
A child’s scream in the middle of the night is reported and soon police and social service are involved. Do they need all this involvement? What exactly are they hiding?
This was a great read, the characters evoked strong feelings with me, and Mira especially annoyed me! Fab story, four stars.
This book dragged out and did not hold my attention. I did not finish it. I sadly cannot recommend this book.
This was a good read for me ,however I really didn't like any of the characters at all . And at the beginning of the book the Rosie tantrums really got on my nerves , a good sign of the writing I guess . I did find it went on a little long but still a solid read . 4 stars from me
:I thought this book could have been shorter. It dragged out too much. Did not hold my attention. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of this book. Although I received the book in this manner, it did not affect my opinion of this book nor my review.
Gemma and Peter Bradley have a picture perfect family with two kids, Rosie and Noah, and another on the way...or do they? When Gemma returns home after working all day she takes a few minutes to herself outside before going inside where she knows her kids will be demanding her attention. Even further, Rosie has taken to throwing temper tantrums as of late which are very demanding on their relationship.
Witness to these tantrums is their nosy neighbor Mira, whose house is situated very close and can hear little Rosie screaming and crying. One night Mira notices the screaming is practically bad and begins to get worried. Should she call the police or let it be? She decides to pay a visit to the Bradley residence to check on Rosie. Next thing she knows, Gemma has the police at her door. What is it that Mira saw and could it all be based on a lie?
Little Liar is told in alternating points of view between Gemma and Mira, along with some alternating time lines along the way. Over time I have found this to be one of my favorites means of story telling for these types books. It really helps to get to know the characters better and to slowly unravel the story so you don't get the full picture until the very end, essential for a mystery/thriller.
Little Liar was advertised as a psychological thriller, but for me, it was more like a domestic drama without much thriller or too much mystery. I love domestic set stories. They are one of my favorite genres because they have so much drama. Despite the lack of the thriller and mystery aspects, I still really enjoyed this book. It kept me engaged the entire time wanting to know what was going to happen next, how it was going to end.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the e-galley of this book for a fair and honest review.
This book wasn't exactly nail biting or definitely not a thriller. But it was a decent book with a good story line. Definitely has twists you won't expect.
