4 sweet and sexy stars!
Aurora Rose Reynolds can always be counted on for sexy, feelgood romance, and she delivered with this book. A gorgeous love story with an irresistible hero who is determined to get his girl, this book was sweet, hot and beautifully romantic and I loved it.
Mackenzie (Mac) has just been stood up on a blind date when a gorgeous man strides into the bar where she’s sitting alone and strikes up a conversation. Mac is way out her element, all dolled up in girly wear when she would usually be at home with a pair of sweats on, but she decides to live a little for once and she goes home with him and has a night of unforgettable sex, before running away before he wakes.
Wesley knows that one night with Mac will never be enough, and when he sees her again he proves it with another blisteringly hot encounter (seriously steamy!). But again, Mac runs. The next time they unexpectedly see each other, he decides he’s not going to let her get away so easily.
I know without a doubt she was made just for me. Now I just need to convince her that I was made for her, too.
OMG, I love me a strong-minded hero, and that’s exactly what Wesley is. He knows what he wants, he doesn’t hide it, and he determinedly chases after Mac, not letting her get away with her stupid behaviour, and it was so good!
“Are you done running?” he asks while sliding his hands up my thighs, making my breath catch.
“I’m scared,” I admit.
He closes his eyes and touches his forehead to mine.
“Me too.” His admission catches me off guard, and my boy jolts. “But I’m not running, and I need to know that you’re going to give us a chance – a real chance.”
And he’s so freaking hot! Wes has a dirty mouth, the chemistry between these two is insane, and the sexy time in this book is sizzling.
“One of the things we’ve got figured out is chemistry, gorgeous. We have that in the bag. I can’t be in the same room with you without getting hard … I’ve never wanted anyone the way I want you, and I know by the way that your body reacts to me and my touch that you feel the same.”
Mac is a relatable heroine, though she is a bit annoying to begin with, with all of the running that she does. Her reasons are weak, but I like her as a character and I like that it doesn’t take her too long to come around. And once she realises that she feels for Wes just as strongly as he does for her, it’s all on, and it’s gorgeous!
“I kinda like you, Wesley Jameson.”
“I just straight-up like you, Mackenzie Reed.”
But life is unexpected, and these two will have to face some surprising twists and turns, as well as some demons from the past, before they can get their HEA.
This book follows on from Running into Love – Mac is the sister of Fawn, and Wesley is Levi’s partner. Both of these characters were introduced in the first book, but this one can easily standalone. In fact, I had forgotten about them entirely before I started this one and it wasn’t until I started reading that I even remembered them. But I did enjoy revisiting with Fawn and Levi, and the sisters’ hilariously crazy family, and Mac and Fawn’s younger sister has a bit of a storyline building already, and I’m really excited to read that one.
This was a really great read. I loved Wesley and Mac as characters, I loved seeing them together and I was easily caught up in their unfolding love story. There was the potential there for stupid drama, but it never reached that point, and instead we get a mostly functional relationship, with a committed couple overcoming their issues and finding their happy place together, and I loved the way it all played out for them. And that epilogue was just gorgeous.
I loved it. 4 stars.
Overall, I liked this read. Wesley and Mackenzie (Mac) have a sweet romance. By sweet, I do not mean that this is a clean read. This is a steamy read,. So by sweet, I mean that there is little angst and no villain. Most of the conflict in the story is internal. I liked Mac's relationship with her sisters. I would be interested in reading Libby's story and hope the author writes that soon! All in all, this was a read I'd recommend.
First I read in this series.
Hero is Wesley. Heroine is Mackenzie (MAC )
This story takes a love story step by step. Its a sweet read but also hot Love how the author writes about the dating world in this day and age. How both sides female and male are trying to connect in this day and age but insecurity always gets in the way
Mac is looking for a date she connected to via a site She’s in the bar waiting and waiting. One lemon sour martini and then another. It seems her date is not showing up .
Wesley walks threw the bar door and Mac right away is drawn to him . Her eyes are drawn to him right away . Both Mac and Wesley connect and they go back to Macs place for a wham bam thank you mame .
Then Mac does something that most males do she skips out .
They do meet again at a family gathering. They both are in shock. But again they connect But something is stopping them. Mostly it is on Mac side. She’s afraid of something and to trust
I was pleasantly surprised to find that Wesley and Mackenzie's beginning wasn't exactly the impression I got from the first book. I like that the author went back and overlapped their story with Fawn and Levi's. I love seeing how a couple gets started and it also cleared up why they weren't a couple yet. The impression I got from the first book was that they were just keeping it casual. Instead, Mac was literally stumbling her way with Wes.
There was a bit more pushing away in this book than the first. It really helped getting both of their POV's to know that they were completely gone for each other. They just weren't great at expressing it in the beginning. I loved Wes's possessiveness and protectiveness with Mac. I loved Mac's sweetness and I loved Miss Ina! That cow conversation was hilarious! We got more of the girl's crazy mother and I'm completely intrigued about Libby and Antonio. I'm looking forward to their story next. ARC Provided by Netgalley.
Book 2 in The Fluke My Life Series and this is Mackenzie ( Mac) Reed’s story, Mac is the second Reed sister we have met and her story starts with her being stood up on a blind date, so she decides to have a few drinks to nurse her sorrows what she didn’t expect was a tall hot stranger to sit down next to her at the bar.... Wesley is instantly attracted to Mac and one things leads to another with it ending in a hot night of passion......
The chemistry is sizzling and the characters are easy to love, Aurora Rose Reynolds did a great job of describing this couples journey from one hot night and one of them running for the hills to a romance that grows into a true love story and let’s not forget this book is hot ....
Looking forward to the next in this series.
Mac is recovering from the loss of hope after learning the man she’s best friends with and has had a huge crush on for two years is now engaged to another woman. When her blind date stands her up she meets Wesley. They hit it off and are soon enjoying a one night stand with Mac running out the next morning. She suffers from some insecurities and it’s better to cut and run than wait around until her sexy ONS realizes the woman he met the night before isn’t the real Mackenzie.
Wesley is immediately attracted to Mac but when she keeps running he can’t help but wonder what it is about him that she doesn’t like. Eventually he earns the chance to take things to the next level with her and he couldn’t be happier. He just has to make her see that this is the real deal for him while making her fall in love with him along the way.
I absolutely loved this couple. Their relationship was fun and easy but overshadowed with something from Wesley’s past that he can’t talk about. Initially, he worried that she would run again and yet it was his actions that pushed her away.
This was one of those feel good reads that have just enough angst to keep the story going but not enough to make you want to throw your Kindle at the wall. It may sound like a lot of push and pull but it that was just a small part of the story. The secondary characters added dimension to the book and I loved that we not only got to see Fawn and Levi from book one of the Fluke My Life series, we got a tease of what’s to come with Libby.
I highly recommend this for anyone looking for an easy read between darker, heavier stories. If you enjoy your heroes all possessive alpha and protective as well, your heroines sweet but sassy and not a doormat without being harsh, this is the perfect book for you.
This is an honest review of an advanced copy provided by NetGalley and Montlake.
Dual POV
Safe – no ow drama; her ex-crush/friend is still in the picture but causes no real drama
No apparent triggers
"I kinda like you, Wesley Jameson."
"I just straight-up like you, Mackenzie Reed," I say.
So, when Mackenzie and Wesley meet it's not exactly in the best circumstances for Mac. She's just been stood up, but she's looking HOT. Unfortunately, for Mac, this isn't her normal look, so she's a little worried about where this interaction is going. Giving into the physical attraction between them, she spends the night with him, but in the morning runs away. Wesley goes after her, but is just a little too late ...Fast forward. Wesley & Mac meet up completely by accident (this was not part of the plan). Now Wesley knows a bit more about her and can infiltrate her life.
This story was completely swoon-worthy, as ARR stories tend to be. There was minimal drama, nothing too crazy going on, and just a sweet love story. I definitely recommend for anyone looking for a hot , but definitely sweet love story <3
I cannot get enough of Aurora Rose Reynolds Fluke My Life series! I am loving this new world and these new characters! After finishing Running Into Love I was instantly wanting Mackenzie aka Mac's story! I was excited to find her story was next.
Mac has been burned before, having a crush on her friend only to be rejected and tossed aside, she's not about to go down that road again. When she wakes up in Wesley's bed and finds her heart is beat erratic just by the sight of him, she knows she has to get out of their and fast. Plus she's not a one night stand kind of girl and she finds herself in unchartered territory. I instantly loved the chemistry between Mac and Wesley.
Aurora Rose Reynolds sure knows how to put the alpha in her male characters! Wesley is no exception. This man is fierce when it comes to Mac. From the moment he set his eyes on her he knew...#BOOM. There was a very strong Mayson like vibe to his character. A vibe that I have been greatly missing lately!
I ate up this novel like it was my last meal. Literally I picked it up this morning at Chapter two and devoured it in one sitting. The only downside to this novel was the fact that the insta love was really INSTANT.
Beyond the main characters, I also enjoyed the other characters and their interactions. I loved the humor they brought to this novel. I especially loved Libby, Fawn, and Mac's mom and dad! They are the perfect addition to this series.
Overall, I really enjoyed this novel. I cannot wait to read Libby and Antonio's story!!!!!
Stumbling Into Love is Book Two of Aurora Rose Reynolds' Fluke My Life series. This was the first book I have read from this author and for the most part it was pretty easy to follow along without having read the first one. It certainly wasn't a deal breaker for me but I was a bit disappointed that it took me about a third of the way through to finally learn what the hero actually did for a living. We learn early on that he works with Levi. That would have been great information had I known what Levi did for a living.
This story started off very well and I finished it very quickly. There were certainly times I wasn't sure if I liked Mackenzie or Wesley but the author did a great job explaining why they were acting/feeling like they were. Not sure that I necessarily agree with their reasons but I was glad they finally started communicating with each other.
Even though I had a couple minor complaints about the story, it had a lot of good things to offer as well such as great character development and an interesting plot. Overall I found it be very enjoyable with a lot of fun secondary characters. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
Wow!! Aurora nailed it again. Stumbling Into Love is the second book of Fluke My Life series and is Mackenzie and Wesley's story. I find this book more enjoyable than the first book in the series. I also love how I was easily hooked from the start of this book and up to the last! Tho, the story is not that complicated, I still loved it!! One of my favorite reads!
This was another great story by Aurora Rose Reynolds who is now on my auto buy list of authors. The story straddles the line of romantic comedy and screwball comedy in the best possible way. Mac and Wesley are such great characters and I love how the story intertwines with the previous book but not in a way you'd need to read that book to understand this one. I don't think a reader would even know that there was another book in the series the overlap is done so well. I recommend to anyone who loves romantic comedies and a good love story.
Mackenzie Reed is a massage therapist in New York. She grew up in Long Island & is the oldest of three sisters. She’s had a crush that wasn’t returned, and is going on her first date in two years. She’s at the restaurant, & finally realizes she’s been stood up. She’s about to leave when a sexy stranger offers to buy her a drink. This man is absolutely beautiful, & Mackenzie decides since she’s all dolled up, she’s going to go for it. She has an amazing night with Wesley, and then leaves his apartment thinking she’ll never see him again.
Wesley Porter is a detective with the NYPD. After an unforgettable one night stand, he’s desperate to find his mystery woman, & explore their crazy chemistry. He finds her only to continue to lose her. She’s always running and fighting what’s between them.
Mackenzie is a tomboy who loves baseball. She’s always felt like one of the guys. She can’t believe this great guy would be so into her. She thought he was too good to be true, but soon learns he’s genuine, and wants more with her.
I really enjoyed this book & love this series! Each one is about a different sister, & we get more of the first couple in this book. I can’t wait for Libby’s book up next.
**Thanks to Netgalley for giving me this book and exchange for my honest opinion.
let's get started, Okay so basically the book is about a girl named Mac (Mackenzie) she been of having a crush on a man (for 2 years) who didn't feel the same (who actually had a girlfriend she didn't know about) she decides to go on a blind date (to get over the other guy) where she gets stood up. While she there she meets Wesley. Mac being a good girl and tired of it she decides to have her first one-night stand. The next morning she sneaks out but forgets her phone, while she's getting on the train she sees Wesley running to her but he's too late. She goes to his house a couple days later (after going over in her head what she should do and how to get phone back.) Skip a couple day They meet again at Levi for Thanksgiving, and then from there their Love Story begins. There is a lot of back and forth Mac is scared to get hurt, Wesley's having problems from his old life or why he moved to New York in the first place but you won't open up. I don't want to ruin anything so I'll let you read the rest of book.
I really enjoyed it I like to seeing fawn and Levi. I liked Mac and fawn family who are so funny.
I'm looking forward to reading the next sisters book
ANOTHER AMAZING ADDITION TO THIS FUN SERIES!
I just devoured this book! Mac and Wesley just took control of my day, I couldn’t put this book down until I flipped to the last page! I loved it! The chemistry, the storyline, the characters! ARR had me hooked from the first page! But now I need Libby’s book! Seriously I really hope she ends up with Antonio! So excited! If you love Fun, sweet, yet sexy as hell reads I highly recommend picking this book up! Am so glad I did!
**ARC RECEIVED IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW**
We first met Mac and Wesley in Running into Love (Fawn and Levi’s story) and from the moment we met them we knew there was something going on between the two of them. Well apparently a lot went on with these two, like a one night stand that didn’t quite stay that way. Every time these two cross paths they seem to end up naked; then when Mac realizes that Wesley is not only the BF to her sister’s boyfriend but his partner as well. Mac has spent the last couple of year’s fawning over a guy who interested in someone else and Wesley has spent the last year or so hiding from whatever brought him to New York.
These two needed a crash course in communication and it could have made the coming together (no pun intended) of this relationship a hell of a lot easier…but then again, that would have been boring. While this book didn’t have the humor the first book had it was still a fun read. Mac is a little quirky and Wesley is a tad bit bossy but they balanced each other out. Mac’s crazy family is still present; her mom is a hoot!!! Thank goodness Wesley didn’t come with a crazy family. I don’t think we could handle another one.
To get the full effect of Mac and Wesley, I would suggest reading Running into Love first. I mean it’s not necessary but I think it will give this story a little more umph.
So at the end of the last book I was hoping for Mac and Wesley’s story and I got it. I also hoped for a story for Lucas (Levi’s brother). I still want a story for him but I’m just as eager to her about Fawn’s and Mac’s younger sister Libby!
I received a copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.
Stumbling into love is the second book in the Fluke my life series presenting another Reed sister’s story. I enjoyed it; the book was a short, relatively quick and sweet read. A fluffy, heartfelt story that starting to be the signature form from the author. I will be honest I liked ARR’s earlier works a bit better with a tad bit more drama and angst to it. However her writing style is still top notch and if you are looking for a light romance to read, then it’s a perfect choice.
Mackenzie after the first couple of bad decisions and stubborn reluctance was a great and likeable main character. She knew who she was, and what she wanted and wasn’t afraid to be herself. I think among the three sisters she is most relatable for me.
Wesley was a bit of a mystery and a strong driving force behind my need to finish this book. I just wanted to know more about him. His personality and his past gave a new element to the book. And the chemistry between them was steamy and amazing.
I liked this story and it again reminded me why Aurora Rose Reynolds is one of my auto-buy authors, since no matter my mood I always can enjoy her books.
Aurora Rose Reynolds has done it again with another fantastic book. Stumbling into love is the second book in this series and I enjoyed this one more than the first book. Mack and Wesley were perfect together and their chemistry was off the charts. I loved the banter between the the three sisters and also, the mother she was hilarious. I loved everything about this book and can't wait for the next in the series.
Stumbling into Love was a total feel-good read for me! It had a great balance of sweet and sexy. A bit of push and pull - not high on the drama, but enough to keep you interested.
Mac is a self-proclaimed tomboy, but she doesn't feel quite that way to me, except that she likes to run from things that scare her. She has a close family, all of whom I loved. I love her crazy mom, her close sisters, her protective dad.
Wesley won't be deterred. He is into this girl and won't give up. I like seeing a guy with actual feelings and insecurities. Not in a weak way, just in a way that shows he cares and can get hurt. Also kind of love his possessiveness!
I see this is part of a series and am looking forward to reading the others if they are as good as this one!
Aurora Rose Reynolds does it again. Nice simple, sweet easy read. Sometimes the drama gets too much and this book fit the feel good bill.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. To be honest I initially requested this book because I had the author confused with another. I figured out my mistake pretty early on but I am still glad I requested this and will be interested in reading other books by the author. While there were a few things that I really did not like about this book I really enjoyed it overall. I liked the characters and was so instantly drawn into the story.
However sometimes I feel as if I read too many romances because there are so many things have become overdone in the genre that instantly snap me out of my happy place if they show up in yet another book in a lazy seeming fashion. In this book we have another hero weirdly out of the blue exhibiting over possessive behavior that is supposed to be endearing but is creepy and overbearing. This was in the very beginning of their relationship and let me tell you if any guy pulled that in real life I would be running and not thinking, "Wow. He must really be into me if I am not allowed to even speak to other men. Then of course there is the need for the female character to be sure that she is unlovable because of reasons. This one can be handled well but when Mac exclaimed "But I am a tomboy" as if that is justification for being sure her boyfriend's mother will not like her I snorted. There were a couple of other issues that made this seem more like a first or second book by an author but they were minor and I read so much romance that when I see something three book in a row it bothers me more than it might others.
This was a good read. I saw that my library has the first book in the series and I will likely check it out.
