5 star 🦉Night Owl Read 🦉

Received a Netgalley ARC in exchange for an honest review

This Billionaire series by Jackie Ashenden is incredible & even though I really loved Van & Lucas’s stories I just have to say I was absolutly captivated with Wolfe & Olivia’s book !!!

Here is why ...

Amazing characters with relatable flaws
Well written & thought provoking storyline
Sarcastic & snappy dialog
Strong female heroine who can really kick butt when she needs to
Oops did I forget to say vividly imagining Wolfe’s touchable tattoos? 😂
Off the freaking charts chemistry
Standalone with a great HEA

When a book pulls u within the first few Chapters & you are up till the wee hours of the morning turning the pg for just one Chapter you know u r in the hands of a great author !!

Highly recommend this author - series & book ❤️❤️

This was the last of this series I assume and since I actually liked the last one I thought this one would be the culmination of things and the "best for last" but this was not the case, felt more like a rush job to meet a deadline.

Wolf was a pretty inconsistent character, and some of the navel gazing got old towards the end. Our heroine was supposed to be some kind of really smart and really naive but it all came across as really unreal and unbelievable.

So what we have is an alpha male (like all of this authors heroes) some sort of "poor rich girl" who is coupled with what looks to be a mentally disturbed hero.

All this was just too much, this could have been a much better series with more effort on the story and less on the sex (which she managed best in book 2) instead this last book comes across as some kind of pulp fiction that was basically entertaining but allowed scanning of large sections with no loss of story or plot.

3 Stars and wishing it was better than it was and realizing that this series hit its peak in book 2.

The Undercover Billionaire by Jackie Ashenden is a steamy tale of lust and revenge, and the third story in the Tate Brother's series. In a previous series, Billionaire Fairytales, the De Santis brothers all found happy endings despite a difficult upbringing. Now it's their sister Olivia's turn.

Olivia De Santis knows all about the feud between the Tate family and the De Santis family, brought on by a falling out between her father Cesare and his one time best friend Noah Tate. Mortal enemies, the children of those men grew up knowing only what their fathers told them, which was not always the truth. When Wolf Tate showed up as a teenager in Olivia's home with a tale of woe about abuse at the hands of his adopted father Noah, she befriended him. Over the years Wolf had worked for her father but for Olivia, he'd been someone she could confide in, even during the years when he was away in the military. So when he shows up to kidnap her in the middle of the night, she goes with him willingly.

Wolf's finally at the end game of his mission. A double agent for his father, he'd infiltrated the De Santis household. Now his father Noah is dead, and he believes Cesare is to blame. He plans to kill him though he can't tell Olivia that, only that she has the information he needs as Cesare's assistant to help bring him down. He's willing to do anything to get it, even seduce the young woman whom he once considered a friend. But what starts out as a plan for revenge gets complicated when he can't separate his mission from his real feelings for Olivia. In the end will their friendship lead to love or ruin?

I love reading Jackie Ashenden's novels for the intense action and sexy scenes and her ability to make you care about the characters. If you haven't read any of the previous linking book in the two series, don't worry, this one reads well as a standalone though it also ties up some of the story arc loose ends of the series. Wolf turns out to be one of my favorite heroes of the bunch because his conscience comes through in time to prevent him from making a big mistake. Plus, while he is attracted to Olivia (and vice versa), in contrast to some of her other heroes he is not quite as rough in the bedroom and treats her with a gentler touch.

Olivia turns out to be a stronger heroine than even she'd expected, quickly learning to stand up for herself against her father, a man who has many secrets. Of course she doesn't want him to die and works toward finding a solution that will enable him to live while still paying for his crimes. Both Olivia and Wolf learn a lot of family secrets in this one that impact them emotionally but also draw them together. It turns out that the friendship they developed starting in their teens isn't so easy to dismiss despite some shocking revelations, and is the foundation of their true feelings for each other. They get their happy ending and the series is neatly wrapped up with this final exciting chapter. It's an entertaining and enjoyable read.

Unrequited love isn't really my jam but naive heroines are kind of my crack so I'm a bit biased when it comes to Olivia and Wolf.

Olivia has been in love with her best friend, Wolf, for several years now but being the mousy, shy introvert that she is, she's kind of accepted the fact that her love will always be one sided. No way that sexy Navy SEAL Wolf Tate will ever look her way. But she figures being friends is better than nothing.

When he shows up in the middle of the night with crazy demands and a desperate look in his eyes, Olivia can't deny the equally crazy need to help him.

There is naive and then there's naive and Olivia is definitely the latter. She maintains this blind belief that Wolf can't possibly hurt/lie/use her for his own nefarious end because of her feelings for him. She hasn't seen Wolf for ten years, they've maintained a fragile connection through emails but nothing since she was sixteen and he was eighteen and even than it was still a fairly new friendship. She is an heroine that is sheltered, innocent and wears her heart on her sleeve for everyone to see. Which makes her a vulnerable and in need of protection.

Wolf on the other hand is a hardened weapon, single minded in his mission and blinded by his own needs to see the lies, half truths and clear betrayal of the man he calls father. Even beyond the grave, Wolf allows himself to be manipulated and used. In turn he has very little calms in using and manipulating Olivia.

This was a revenge plot that didn't really work for me. It was so obvious that his father was just using Wolf and yet, Wolf never wised up and continued being an obedient weapon for a man that showed nothing but contempt for him. The few flashbacks show a man who belittled him and slowly chipped away at Wolf's self esteem. It was a dysfunctional relationship based on blackmail. And yet this man meant more to Wolf than the only person that ever gave him any worth. Olivia was his only friend and he was still willing to betray her and that was a hard pill to swallow for a hero in a romance.

I wish Olivia would have done a few things differently. One, Wolf needed to be brought down a peg or two. Olivia definitely needed to stiffen her spine a bit and make him grovel a lot longer and a lot more than he actually does. Her forgiveness was won too easily. Secondly, I wish the author would have shown us a stronger more independent Olivia. I wanted to see her realize her worth and be able to stand on her own, separate from her father and apart from Wolf. She had potential to be a really strong and positive heroine but we never see her stand on her own, for her own sake. She's a strong supporter, always willing to put others ahead of herself but I wanted her to fight for her happiness and not have it so dependent on Wolf.

Would I recommend?
If you follow the series, you'll like it. But as a stand alone, I think you might not understand the undercurrents of what drives Wolf and in turn might not enjoy his character as much as the others.

I didn’t read the previous stories in the series and I might have missed a few details but not enough to deter from enjoying this book. Well written entertaining story with danger, intrigue, adventure and romance. Wolf was definitely an Alpha at his divine best and he needs to be to save Olivia. She’s a sassy heroine. Their chemistry is off the charts hot. I’m going to have to read the other Tate Brothers stories.

The Undercover Billionaire is the 3rd book in the Tate Brothers series by Jackie Ashenden.
Wolfgang (aka Wolf ) Tate, a Navy Seal, is home on bereavement leave due to the death of his adoptive father, Noah. Wolf receives a letter from his father, just like his other two brother received, one that sends him on a mission. This is one that if he completes, he will get information that will lead him to his birth mother whom he has always wanted to find. Thing is, he needs info on his enemy who is also the target of his mission - Cesare de Santis. Wolf gets the idea to get info on his target by getting the information from Casare’s daughter Olivia. Only one thing, she is a good friend of his and that could put his mission in danger plus cost him the loss of a good friend. What’s this sexy SEAL to do? Oh I could tell you but instead I will recommend you read this sizzling romantic action/suspense read. All I will say is Wolf is a bad bad boy and Olivia is going to make him pay (smile). I loved the witty banter between Wolf and Olivia. Olivia is a spitfire, sassy and very sweet. She has harboured a deep love for Wolf for over 10 + years which Wolf doesn’t know at first. Wolf is all alpha male, possessive and determined. This makes for a fantastic read. I look forward to reading what Ms. Ashenden writes.

My Rating: 4.5 stars *****
“I received an advanced copy of this book from the author at no cost to me."

Wolf Tate, a Navy Seal on bereavement leave, is after revenge. Raised to believe he was more of a "tool" than a "brain", he vows revenge on his father's killer. So desperate for love, acceptance, and a family he believes everything his father has ever told him. As a teen, his father used him to infiltrate the "enemy"--the de Santis family. Using his training and experience from the Navy, Wolf breaks into the de Santis home to kidnap Olivia de Santis. The only problem is, she's his only friend.

Olivia first met Wolf as a teen. She spent hours talking to him about literature, their families, everything. She was infatuated with him then, but is in love with him now. She's spent the last 10yrs isolated from others her age, but maintained contact with a Wolf via email. While she's surprised with his kidnapping, she's not scared because she trusts him.

Wolf has several decisions to make, none of them easy. Does he believe Olivia or his late father? Is he a well honed machine or an intelligent Navy Seal with the capacity to love? This is the third novel in the Tate Brothers series. Although it can be read as a stand alone novel, I recommend reading the series in order to get the full background on the Tate-de Santis feud. Suspenseful, funny, and heartbreaking. I loved the twists throughout the novel. I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

This third book in the Tate Brother's series was action packed and steamy. It was a rollercoaster of emotions that just never hit the mark for me. Wolf is an ex Navy SEAL that was groomed into a killing machine. His father kept him under control by telling him what he wanted to hear. His only true friend was Olivia, the daughter of the man he was sent to kill. Now the time has come for Wolf to carry out his father's plan and he needs Olivia to do that. Olivia is smart, sassy and just a little too naive. Wolf had so much potential but he unfortunately fell short in the sexy alpha category for me. I liked that Wolf and Olivia were there for each other when they were younger but I just couldn't connect with them now. These are all my own personal feelings about this story and yours may be totally different. If you are a fan of this series then you should definitely try this fast paced, steamy romance.

the last tate brother continues the tangle with the de santis family, this time kidnapping youngest daughter olivia in the name of completing his mission. in the undercover billionaire, wolf discovers that everything he’s ever been told is a lie and the mission he’s on isn’t as noble as he imagined it to be.

for all the suspense and sex, these books are surprisingly cerebral. and i enjoy that we get a full sense of where the characters are emotionally, even if it’s all going on in their heads. because we are allowed to understand them. we get why they tick. and how they fall, or maybe how they realize how far they’ve fallen, oh-so-long ago.

This one left me wanting. Wolf Tate is home on bereavement after his father died and like his other adoptive brothers he has received a letter with mission from his father to find his birth mother. To do this he will need to kidnap his best friend since high school, Olivia de Santis. This is where it goes off the rails. She is in her 20, a virgin, dresses like a nun, and has never been kissed. Really? Oh, and Wolf is a Navy SEAL and is convinced he is stupid. Okay, both have been manipulated throughout their lives and are continuing to be manipulating. There are twists and turns and power plays and, yes, there is chemistry but still something missing. Overall, I did enjoy this and ultimately there was a happy ending but just took forever to get there.

Crazy action packed drama with a romance entangled by emotions and desires. When a man is determined, who can stop him from achieving his goal? Vengeance, hostages and a whole lot of twists will keep you guessing right to the end.

This author is usually hit or miss for me and this unfortunately was a miss. I really enjoyed the first two books in this series so I was disappointed with the way this last one ended. I just never felt the connection between the characters and Wolf wasn't a hero that made me swoon.

This is the third book in the Tate brother’s series. This is Wolf and Olivia’s story. These two are supposed to be bitter enemies. The Tate’s and de Santis’ are bitter enemies. But Wolf became infiltrated into the de Santis’ home when he was 17. He pretended that his dad Noah was beating him and he wanted to help Ceasar de Santis take him down. While he was working with Ceasar, he became very close with his daughter Olivia. But then Wolf decided to become a Navy Seal and has been gone for ten years. He’s back because of his father Noah’s sudden death and has a mission to accomplish. This is an intense relationship between Wolf and Olivia. They both have self esteem issues. Their ride is volatile, but also heartfelt to watch. I liked how everything came to a head and the saga of Tate/de Santis is finally put to rest. Good job Ms. Ashenden. On a side note, you should really read the Billionaire Fairy Tales Series and then the Billionaire Navy SEAL series(Tate Brothers). This will give you all the background story of the de Santis’ and Tate’s. It makes the whole picture come together.

3.5 stars--THE UNDERCOVER BILLIONAIRE is the third ( and final) instalment in Jackie Ashenden’s contemporary, adult THE TATE BROTHERS romantic suspense series focusing on three foster brothers-Sullivan (Van), Wolf and Lucas Tate-as well as their foster sister Chloe Tate. This is thirty-year old Navy SEAL Wolf Tate, and twenty-eight year old heiress Olivia de Santis’s story line. THE UNDERCOVER BILLIONAIRE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary although I recommend reading the series in order for cohesion and backstory.

SOME BACKGROUND: In the aftermath of their adoptive father Noah Tate’s death, Van, Wolf and Lucas Tate are called home from active duty to find themselves the recipients of three letters outlining what the future has in store-letters from the grave asking each son for a final favor. There is a dark history between father and sons, marred by secrets and lies, and a father ill-equipped to look after the family he chose to raise.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Olivia and Wolf) THE UNDERCOVER BILLIONAIRE follows the acrimonious and heart breaking friendship between Navy SEAL Wolf Tate, and oil heiress Olivia de Santis. For close to thirteen years, Olivia believed Wolf Tate to be her only friend but her recent abduction by the man in question reveals the painful truth about their relationship and her father’s thirty-year war with Wolf Tate’s father. Wolf has been on a mission to ferret out the truth about the man who raised him as his own and his connection to Cesare de Santis only to realize that everything he believed to be true was closer to a lie. What ensues is the back and forth, caustic relationship between Olivia and Wolf, and the potential fall-out when Wolf refuses to back down from a mission that was going to h*ll.

The relationship between Olivia and Wolf is angry and antagonistic. For close to 13 years Wolf faked his friendship with Olivia de Santis, a friendship our heroine believed to be pure and true. Wolf’s revelation all but destroys our story line heroine, a woman who will give Wolf everything and more. The sex scenes are intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text but I struggled to feel any palpable sexual attraction due in part to Wolf’s cold reactions and continuous rejection of our story line heroine.

Throughout the story Wolf Tate slowly destroys our heroine’s heart. Olivia is an innocent, in more ways than one, but has become nothing more than a pawn in her father’s war against Noah Tate, a war that all but destroyed the boys Noah raised as his own. Wolf, desperate for the love of a family, will do almost anything to reveal the truth, a truth that will destroy his relationship with the woman with whom he will fall in love.

THE UNDERCOVER BILLIONAIRE is a story about vengeance and betrayal; deceit and family; power and control. The premise is a story of desolation and dejection; the romance suffers with one man’s lies and deception; the characters are broken, naïve and desperate. I did struggle with the believability and elaborate ruse of some of the story line and series premise including some important information that Olivia was able to find within ten minutes that our hero could not find for close to thirty years.

QuickShot Review
This was an ok read. The story suffered from a lack of connection between the hero and heroine, and the inevitable betrayal came late and the resolution of that betrayal just didn’t work for me. I am usually a fan of Ms. Ashenden’s writing, but I’m going to chalk this up to a lack of knowledge of this series and perhaps I would have cared more had I known them from earlier books. It was just not my cuppa.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

I have not read the previous books and maybe if I had, things might have made more sense to me.

It was pretty hard to relate to two people that had been manipulated by their fathers. What was even worse, after finding out about the manipulation and lies, they both are still loyal to their parent.

I found it hard to like Wolf and I guess I would have thought that a Navy Seal would have more honor than to murder a civilian even if he was his father's enemy. Olivia is not much better as she at one point was willing to let her father "give" her to a man that wanted her.

If you can get past that Wolf lied, kidnapped, and abused her friendship and that Olivia was just so naive that she could not believe her father was using her, had no reaction when Wolf kidnapped her - she couldn't accept that he would do that if he was her friend.

If you can get past all that, it is mildly entertaining and the epilogue wraps up the brothers and their women, and the feud is finally over.

Wolf and Olivia should have been the couple that made me want to devour this book but unfortunately I had a hard time getting into it.

I had a hard time believing that Olivia had no clue how her father was. I mean she wasn't a teenager anymore, she had to start questioning things.

Once the action started heating up it did get better.

I just couldn't get into this book.I didn't like Wolf and Olivia was too naive.

Although this book is a standalone, I have read and reviewed the first two books in this series about three adopted brothers who’s adopted father dies and they become embroiled in his feud with another major billionaire. This story is about Wolf, the youngest of the boys, who needs to kidnap Cesear de Santos’ daughter, Olivia to get information regarding de Santos’ illegal doings. Wolf and Olivia have had a “friendship” for many years, which Olivia thinks is real and Wolf thinks is just part of getting inside the de Santos house to get information. It took me a few pages to remember the gist of the field, and what the major storyline was about, but once I did, I was full immersed in this book. Wolf and Olivia had a interesting relationship which made for a fun read. Lots of angst and reveals of the entire story. I enjoyed the entire series and this book.

The last of the Tate Brothers is Wolfgang “Wolf “ and his mission is to kill Cesare de Santis. He plans the kidnapping of Cesare’s daughter, Olivia ,in order to use her as bait.
Olivia de Santis has been in love with Wolf since she was fifteen years old. So when she awakens to finding Wolf in her room she is a little confused. But when Wolf goes out the window carrying her, Olivia gets mad and doesn’t understand what he is doing or where he is taking her.
Not all plans are foolproof as Wolf soon learns.
Jackie Ashenden will not disappoint.
I was given an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
