Undercover detective Janie Roberts is out to catch a criminal, someone is abducting women from the club she is working undercover at, and she intends on stopping them and putting them behind bars where they belong. She has her eye on a suspect, but he's caught her eye for more than one reason, he's also devastatingly handsome and they have some serious sparks...
Shattered Fear is a spine-tingling and sultry little tale that is sure to keep you mesmerized from start to finish! This was my first read by this author and I have to say I really enjoyed it, her crafty story line was very engaging, so much so, that I devoured it all in one sitting. It was packed with loads of emotion, drama, suspense, and made for an amazing start to her new series!! Can't wait for the next installment!! Highly recommend you give this one a try, you will not be disappointed with what you find!!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title.
Janie Roberts is posing as a bartender at a Gentleman's Club as part of her undercover assignment. She is trying to find the person who is abducting women from the Club. Brent Taylor goes to the Club one night and meets Janie. Janie begins to suspect Brent of possibly being the kidnapper. Brent convinces Janie to go out on a date with him and Janie begins to learn more about Brent. She is surprised by some of what she learns, but still keeps the fact she is really an undercover detective to herself. When circumstances force her hand, Janie is left trying to figure out who the kidnapper is from the sidelines. I don't want to give too much away since this is a prequel to the series and sets up the rest of the books. I did find the plot interesting, the story flowed pretty well and I am interested in reading the next book in this series. There were multiple POV's in this book and it did get kind of confusing at times as to what was going on. It was a nice murder/budding romance book and if that is part of the genre you like to read, I would suggest giving this one a try. I was given an ARC from NetGalley for my honest review.
This definitely made the my slight book slump better. Though I'm upset I can't read the next short now, I'm definitely looking forward to it.
This is a short story and prequel to a new series full of suspense. Janie is an undercover cop who wants nothing more than to find the man kidnapping woman and killing them. While on the job she meets Brent. A man of Fame and money for being a philanthropist. He also fits the bill for the man she is looking for.
She ends up getting in way over her head with him that she can only hope her gut feeling about him is right.
There's quite a lot that happens in this short story that pulls you in. The writing style is excellent and the romance doesn't feel forced but maybe a tad bit fast, but that's okay. It doesn't take away from the story. I can't wait for the rest of the shorts and the full stories!
I didn't enjoy this novella, it wasn't for me. even though I thought I would have loved it I didn't.
I was gifted the arc to review for an honest opinion.
This is the first book I've read by this author, and I found her to be a good storyteller. I was interested in finding out how the plot played out, and since this is the first of three novellas that focus on the same characters and their story (which I didn't realize going in), this one left me hanging and wanting to read the others to find out what happens. With that said, I admit that the character development fell a little flat for me. I liked the characters of Brent and Janie, but I didn't really feel much connection with either of them, nor did I feel their connection with each other. If you're looking for a good mystery, you should give this one a try, but if you are more interested in romantic suspense, you might be disappointed in the romance part of this one. The romance is there, but the build-up to it is lacking.
This was just okay. There was no real character development and while the sex scene was hot, there was no real build up of sexual tension beforehand. Janie is an undercover police officer, but I had a hard time believing it with her actions and reactions.
This is a short story and the beginning of a new romantic series. Janie is an undercover cop trying to find a killer. She is working as a bartender at the bar where some of the women disappear. Brent is handsome, rich, and just might be the killer. Janie can’t help but be attracted to him even though she knows she shouldn’t. She gets fired from her job and now the killer is after her.
Great story. Cliffhanger. Sex. It only tells Janie’s version and the killers. I hope the next one tells both Janie’s and Brent’s.
