Interesting, engaging and wild. Pay close attention. Three halfling females are the focus of this story plus Daire, a reaper. I’d categorize this read as adventure with a sure thread of romance, rather than a romance with some adventure. By the end of this offering, the romance seems to be on sure footing, but the battle is still waging, so who knows where the story will land. If you don’t like reading multiple stories before getting the ultimate conclusion, hold off on starting this one until the series is complete.

I received an ARC of this book, from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Dark Alpha’s Night is yet another magnificent addition to the highly rated Reaper series by Donna Grant. It has everything a fantasy romance lover could ever ask for – intelligent storyline, non-stop action, and take-your-breath-away romance that will leave you dreaming about it long after you finish the book. There is nothing plain or light about this story. It will take your senses on a no-holds barred adventure and steal your heart somewhere along the way. This is true genre perfection at its finest. You don’t get any better than Donna Grant when it comes to high quality romance and razor sharp plotlines.

Ettie has been preparing her whole life for something that she had no clue about. As she teaches her sisters how to fight, she spends each day waiting in apprehension for what is around the corner. Daire’s life becomes less and less simple by the day as he watches the other Reapers as they meet and fall in love with their perfect mates. He is left frustrated and finding himself longing for who he may find. When fate leads him to Ettie, he is prepared to do the possible, the impossible, and the legendary to save her and her sisters. Ettie doesn’t know what to think about Daire, but she knows in her heart that he was sent to help her save the last of her family. When the unexpected happens and hearts open to each other, will Daire be brave enough to make Ettie a part of his life, or will Ettie be forced to make that decision for them?

Watching the beauty unfold before me as Daire and Ettie meet and slowly fall in love, I found that my heart was lost to them. They had an uneasy alliance that bloomed into something neither expected. However, things are never as easy as they seem, and they both must decide what they want and how hard they will fight for it. The little Halfling warrior won the heart of the big, lonely Reaper, and neither would ever be the same again.

Donna Grant is a goddess in the world of fantasy and romance. Her stories are thought-provoking and highly entertaining while never easing up on the fierce passion and utter determination of her couples that find and refuse to give up their mate. Grant is a true master of the brilliance that it takes to create and write highly complex and beautifully challenging stories that encompass every part of the human psyche. She is an unforgettable author who gifts her readers with unsurpassed and exquisite literary masterpieces.

I liked the premise, and the romance is sweet. There's light and dark Fae, and I love the idea of Reapers and Death as a person. The story didn't have the depth it could've though, and that affected the emotional impact of the story. This is the first book I read in this series and by Donna Grant, so that may have something to do with the emotion not gripping me. The story is still entertaining though, and I'd like to check out more in this series and to see where the series ends up. There's a larger story that goes throughout the series, but there is still an individual story for the main couple of this book. Daire is a reaper, and he's part of a reaper group that is trying to stop an evil "ex"-reaper from stealing Death's life. Death is a female, which is great! The bad guy is somehow stealing Death's power, so Daire and the others need to stop him before she's killed. They decide they need to find some half Fae descendants of the evil guy. Ettie and her sisters enter the picture. Ettie has been training for a battle that she's pretty much in the dark about. Ettie's okay, but she has some self-esteem issues. I didn't like the scenario of Ettie feeling inferior to her sisters. I didn't really like the sisters. I liked Daire. He's tough and has a soft heart. Ettie and Daire are sweet together, and they have good chemistry. There is a little bit of action, which I enjoyed. I loved the magical aspects, and it'll be interesting to see where the story goes.

Gifted read for an honest review by Netgalley.
Donna Grant is an amazing storyteller, fantastic fantasy world builder. These stories build on each other and are set in and around Ireland. Because where else would the magical creatures like the Fae, death and the reapers live. Reapers and Death good guys, Bran oh Bran, serious bad guy and his dark fae! If you love magic, fantasy with a little romance and heat, then you'll love her books. 3.5 stars

I almost didn’t finish this book, as previously stated I have not read all the books in the series and found it a little difficult to follow, though as the book progressed you did get a pretty decent backstory concerning Bran and why he was so hellbent on his revenge. He starts to search for his blood descendants and eventually finds Ettie and her sisters. It turns out they have been sitting on a big secret—one only Bran knows. Through their contact with Bran, Ettie meets Daire. It is here that the books lose their flavor. I just found the romance rushed/instantaneous. I am a big fan of supernatural mating, but this was just too much.

For fans of the Dark World that Donna Grant has built, the newest addition to the Reaper series, Dark Alpha’s Night, is another masterpiece, even though its shorter length could be somewhat misleading. Daire and Ettie were a joy to get to know and to see fall in love through the drama and danger hunting them. I have been wondering when Daire would find his love and was thrilled to get to know him more. Ettie was a great match for him and together they made true magic, but the love between them was the most magical part of this story. I was thrilled for all the interactions of characters from the Dark Kings series of course and love seeing how these two series have become so intertwined of late. Daire is a sexy and alpha hero with just the perfect level of vulnerability that makes a woman lust after him while at the same time wanting to protect and care for him. For anyone that hasn’t read these two series the little bits and pieces of each that interact together might be a bit confusing, but in the end there is enough greatness and backstory in each, that the reader can love it anyway. I love this series and cannot wait for whatever story comes next, but I can guarantee that anything from Donna is going to be magic.

Ettie O'Bryne and her sisters have been preparing for "some day" all of their lives and now the reason for the training is revealed, as well as the news that they're half Fae! Daire is a Reaper who works for Death, but he cannot stay away from Ettie and her unusual talent.

Thanks to the publisher and to NetGalley for an ARC; all opinions are my own.

I found this really awkward to read. The writing was not particularly engaging and the story was not unique.

This is the first book I’ve read in this series and I found it to be quite enjoyable. Ettie and Daire have instant attraction and the story line is quite fast paced. Bran is a major pain and the other Reapers have their hands full trying to deal with him.

Death has seven Reapers, who keep the balance between the Light and Dark Fae. One of the Reapers, Bran has gone bad and turned on his brothers, more importantly on Death herself. The remainder Reapers have to stop him from his devious plan, part of which is finding his offspring.

Growing up Ettie and her sisters have been trained to be prepared. For what, they aren’t sure but to be prepared just in case anyway. So it comes as no surprise to any of them that the thing they have to be prepared for is a guy who shows interesting Ettie. She is the serious plain one of the sisters and gets a little upset when her sisters question Bran’s desire for Ettie. Which of course has them fighting. Until Daire appears that is and all is explained.

Daire and Ettie were an interesting pair. For one who is raised to trust no one but her sisters she sure does fall for Bran and then Daire super fast. I didn’t really feel like there was much chemistry between these two. More like insta-love, which didn’t suit well for me. Her flip-flopping from both of the guys also annoyed me a lot.

Ettie is suppose to be the strongest of her sisters, the most devoted. I didn't really see that. Instead she was kinda whiny about how she was overlooked a lot in comparison to them. She was also suppose to be the most responsible, but she seemed to fall for every line that either guy gave her.

I came into this one as a blank slate and that took away from the story. There is a massive backstory that I had no clue about. I did not realize when I started this one that it was the fifth book in a series. It was confusing for me, as the book is based on previous events of the series. I recommend reading the series in order before you read this one. The multiple points of views was confusing, only because I did not understand the back story between Death and Cael. Plus, I still don’t get why she is avoiding him.

My Rating 3 out of 5 stars

With no fault of the author, I could not get into the book at this time. This is pure it's not you, it's my mood. I will re-visit the book later.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you.

I am loving this Reapers series!! It is Donna Grant's writing at its finest. Daire and Ettie had an almost instant and undeniable bond. Dark Alpha's Night is fast paced, full of action, love and reveals some new pieces in this puzzle that will eventually tie into the Dragon Kings world more than it does now. I cannot wait for the next book and for Bran to be stopped!

To some Fae, I am their worst nightmare. For I do Death’s bidding. But for all our strength and skill, a powerful enemy has risen up. Finding Ettie could change everything. The Half-Fae is our one chance. She’s sharp and strong and fierce. She steals my breath every time I'm near her. And looking into her eyes is like a bolt of lightning right through me. She’s what I’ve been waiting for my long, dark existence. But for us to be together, we must first stay alive…
This is the next book in Donna Grant’s Reaper series. This Reaper take is about Daire, the reaper we’ve met throughout Rhi’s storyline in the dragon series. Now that he’s back with the reapers, he starts to go a little stir crazy until a clue on their enemy’s next target. Even though I’d been secretly hoping he’d find happiness with Rhi, Ettie didn’t disappoint. I loved seeing a much more in depth look into him and getting to know Ettie. Very good book. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. I highly recommend.

Ettie is a half Fae and she has spent her life training for the unknown because her father has always told her and her sisters to be prepared. While she knows others never believed her father she can't help but feel like maybe there is something out there waiting to come for them when they least expect it.

Daire is a Reaper and while Reapers are fairytales to some.... others know that they can be your worst nightmare. When Daire finds out that evil is lurking around Ettie he can't help but to keep her safe.

I voluntarily read an advanced review copy of this book

Donna Grant did a great job creating this world where your imagination can run free and explore everything that it has to offer.

Overall this book was really good. I guess I was a little disappointed because I had high hopes that Daire would fall in love with someone else #teamRhi . But hey, Daire and Ettie's story was still a really good romance and I am happy that I read it.

I didn't know this as a series and I can't read the books before this. Sorry but I couldn't get into the book at all. I tried though, I'm so sorry for my ADD brain.

Three equally fascinating women are featured in this Book #5 of A Reapers Novel series with Ettie being the main character. Ettie is the big sister who has been raising her two unique younger sisters Carrie and Jamie. These three sisters create a lot of back and forth sisterly competition. The reader will feel right at home if they have siblings as I did.

The evil villian Bran is also a featured main character in this book and readers who have read early books to this series will see him in a different light mostly because he is a good actor at being who and what he wants to be to get what he wants. There is a part of me that feels compassion for him and how he suffered in the past but it is short lived because he is wicked.

Daire has always intrigued me from the other books from this series. He kind of sits back and is the strong silent type. His relationship with Rhi has always caused me to wonder if he was silently in love with her. But the reader will understand clearly what his feeling are towards Rhi and what he will do to protect her.

This interesting Reaper will come alive when he meets Ettie and this reader enjoyed how he became a dynamic hero in this story and was able to show Ettie her greatness. There is lots of action in this book and all the Reapers come into play. The scene with Death causes me pain and I really want Bran to go away and quit his progressive destruction of her. I look forward to the next book in this series because I have so many questions and resolutions that I need from this thrilling series.

For this reason I give it 4.5 STARS.

This is a series that I've had on my Amazon list to purchase since I've read some of the Dark Kings books. This series seems that follow the same format of the kings books, strong alpha male finding his female. It maintains its own separate storyline while working towards a common goal that ties all the books in the series together. If you enjoy the Dark Kings book you'll love this.
