I had high hopes for this one. In the end, it was fine. I had hoped for more with this but it just didn't deliver.
OMG ICING ON THE CAKE by Ann Marie Walker was just an outstanding book, I was hooked from page one and was so disappointed when the end of the book came, I wanted so much more. There has not been an Ann Marie Walker that book that I have not loved to pieces.
This book is about Cassandra Miller and her brothers wedding and letting loose for the first time ever, what she did not realize was the man she choose for her weekend of fun was an actual Prince. The romance that starts between Cassandra and Henry aka Hank was hot enough that it could have heated the ovens to cook the cupcakes for Cassandra's brothers wedding. There were only happy moments between Cassandra and Hank, that is till the press revealed who he really was and breaks Cassandra's heart with all the "lies" he told her (in order to have a normal weekend). Can this relationship be fixed with a cupcake catering job?
I was so in love with Cassandra and Henry, please give us more, although this is the second book in the series you do not have to have read book one in order to understand the story line of this book (but book one was just as great so I would suggest you read it all the same).
Confession time... I have watched The Prince & Me far too many times. So when I heard the second book in Ann Marie Walker's Wild Wedding series was a combination of The Prince & Me and Notting Hill... Where do I sign up? I adored the heck out of the first book in the series and was counting down the days until the publication of the next book. And let me tell you, Icing on the Cake did not disappoint. It delivered on everything I wanted. This book made me laugh uncontrollably, swoon unabashedly, and yell loudly at a character many times for not telling the truth. One of my favorite elements of the book was that there is more of Cassie and Olivia's friendship. Olivia goading Cassie... best friend ever! Then we have the chemistry and sexual tension between Cassie and Hank. All of the burnt cupcakes were well worth the time they spent together.
Overall, Icing on the Cake was a fun read that kept me up way past my bedtime. Plus the combination of the two movies was perfection. And if you're waiting for Prince Henry's wedding like the rest of us romance lovers, then this is the book to read to keep you company.
When I read the first book in this series, I thought I’d never find another book with a more perfect blend of humor and romance. Evidently I was wrong because Icing On The Cake is even more delicious than its predecessor. I found Cassie delightful in the first book and couldn’t wait for her story. Hank and Cassie’s story is the perfect mixture of sweet and spicy with a heaping spoonful of humor. If you’ve been craving an amazing romance, this newest addition to the Wild Wedding series will more than satisfy your apetite.
Cassie Miller had a lot on her plate. After leaving her CPA job to pursue her passion for baking, she and Livvy, her silent partner and BFF, were anticipating the opening of Sugar Rush, Cassie’s new bakery. It was what Cassie had dreamed of but it was also a lot of work. So much so that it consumed her every minute. Not only was she preparing for the opening in just two months, but she’d also offered to make the cake for her brother’s wedding this weekend. When Livvy suggests that Cassie take advantage of the wedding for a little relaxing fling, Cassie balks at the idea. With invoices to check and shelves to stock, she had no time for men. Of course, once she returned from the wedding it would be crunch time. This might be her only chance for the romance she’d been lacking in her life. It wasn’t like Prince Charming was going to stroll into her bakery and sweep her off her feet. Maybe Livvy’s idea wasn’t so crazy after all. For the next 3 days, Cassie didn’t have to be an overstressed entrepreneur. Instead, she could be a hot single girl without a care in the world.
Royal bloodlines came with lots of perks but they also came with a price. Security, no anonymity, and the paparazzi always stalking “the poster boy for overindulgence” were just a few of the things Prince Henry had to deal with. And it would only get worse once it was his time to take the throne. Even more reason to make the most of his time now. And the upcoming wedding of one of his old school mates was the perfect time to do so. With a little shave and a change of his usual attire, only the bride and groom would have to know who he was. He could have a weekend without the cumbersome title. A normal American experience. For the next 3 days, he didn’t have to be His Royal Highness Prince Henry William Arthur George. He could just be Hank Green, another wedding guest without a care in the world.
When Hank runs into Cassie at the bakery she’s using to create the wedding cake, the chemistry between them is immediate. In her wildest dreams, Cassie couldn’t have conjured up anyone more delicious than Hank. He was gorgeous, and that sexy accent and cute little dimple were icing on the cake. Hank was every bit as enchanted with her. She was beautiful. The perfect mix of sexy and innocent. And she smelled divine. Sparks flew immediately. And inhibitions flew out the window. They were different around each other. Cassie found herself uncharacteristically flirting. She’d never been so bold with a man. It was liberating. There was just something about him that made her go from being Martha Stewart to being the Slutty Gourmet. Hank was different too. He was known for being a player- a love them and leave them ASAP kind of guy. But after a few moments with Cassie, he only wanted more. And when they kissed, it was out of control. What started as a wild fling quickly became more complicated than either anticipated. It wasn’t just the physical attraction either. Though that was explosive. They enjoyed being together, talking and sharing their lives. But Hank wasn’t sharing the whole truth. And once the truth came out, so would all the baggage. He knew he needed to tell Cassie who he was but he wanted a little more time with her as Hank before she discovered who he really was.
This is what romance should be. Sexy and fun. I adored Cassie and Hank. They were the perfect match. They both discovered new sides of themselves that they never would have found alone. While content with their lives, they were still missing something. Their time together made them realize they could have everything they wanted if they were willing to seize the moment and take the risk. Even though it was a whirlwind romance, it didn’t feel rushed. The evolution of their relationship felt believable. And the chemistry was intense. The sexual innuendoes alone were off the charts. When they dipped strawberries in chocolate, I was sweating and giggling at the same time. And I will never look at a confessional the same way again! I loved watching Cassie embrace her wild side and I loved seeing Hank find someone worth fighting for. Each was exactly what the other needed.
It was wonderful to see Cole and Olivia again too. I always enjoy the banter between them and I hope they’ll pop in for a visit in future books. I’m still hoping for a book about Cole’s sister. And carefree Conor. I think that might be an interesting match. Regardless of whose story it is, I can’t wait to read it. This series has been the perfect balance of funny, witty, sweet, and sexy. Definitely a series made for romance lovers. I voluntarily read an Advanced Readers Copy of this book.
Fiery and unexpectedly spicy!
Fun from start to finish and a great weekend read
I wish I could have liked this one more. Cassie and Hank's romance seemed too rushed and made the ending feel unrealistic, especially given who Hank is
Cassandra/Cassie hadn’t had sex in a long time. Her best friend was Livvy also her silent partner in the bakery. Cassie had been putting every spare minute she had into the bakery- Sugar Rush. The grand opening was in two months and cassie felt there was so much to do. Livvy hadn’t envisioned Cassie working eighteen hour days. Cassie hadn’t wanted to take the weekend off but it was her brother Mathew’s wedding Cassie hoped to find the one and be happy but it would be awhile yet right now she had a shop to open. There were invoiced to check, shelves to stack, and vendors to meet with and ads to place. The lists went on and on which meant Cassie had no time for men. Cassie was making Mathew and Emily’s wedding cake, groom’s cake and cupcakes as her gift to them. Three years ago cassie had quit her job as a CPA in one of Chicago’s top accounting firms to follow her passion. Henry/ Hank knew that a change of this magnitude could cause an international incident. Because what Henry was about to propose went against all acceptable procedure. But for the weekend Prince Henry just wanted to be hank an ordinary man and told his detail this.henry and his grandmother argued about the topic of his travel when he traveled on leisure henry wanted his location to be a need to know basis . his father the Crown Prince Edgar was a little more understanding. A royal bloodline came with a lot of perks but at a price. Edgar was head of henry’s security team. Henry was going to Mathew’;s wedding as he had been one of his best friends from university. While Cassie is working in her borrowed bakery to bake for the wedding Hank walked in to ask for directions. Hank is immediately taken with Cassie. Cassie sees Hank at her brothers wedding and decides to go ahead and have some fun and let her wild side out and hank seems more than willing. Then eventually through the press Cassie realizes who hank really is and the lies he told her.
I liked this book a lot. It was a fun easy read. I advise you to read the first book in this series for a smooth flow and knowledge of the characters as some are carried forward into this book. I didn’t really care that Henry didn’t tell her the truth and she had to find out by the press. He could have trusted Cassie instead she had to be hurt more than necessary. I chuckled at times while reading this. This had a kind of Cinderella feeling to it with a “ common” woman and a ‘royal” male. This dragged a little for me at times. I did enjoy the plot. This was predictable but I still liked it and finished it. I liked hank and Cassie together. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend.
Super cute story of a European prince and an American that was not aware of the royal status of the prince. Icing on the Cake is the second in a series where I did not read the first book. My guess is it was about Cassie's best friend, Cassie is the main character of this book. Not having read the first book did not seem to make any difference to me in understanding or enjoyment. This book does get a bit steamy here and there, so keep that in mind if you it is something you like or do not care for. I found this book to be a quick ready that held my attention, I stayed up pretty late last night wanting to read more.
This was a cute, quick read. I read this all in one sitting.
Cassie doesn't have time for much, let alone date. She is in the process of getting her bakery ready to open. She does take a time out though to cater the desserts for her brother's upcoming wedding.
Prince Henry just wants a reprieve from being a Prince. He decided that while attending his friends wedding he would just be Hank, a normal, average guy. Hank bumps into Cassie and from there sparks fly.
A hot and steamy night makes them actually want a bit more. But Hank will have to tell Cassie who he really is. What happens after that? You'll have to one click to find out.

A prince in disguise... Henry just wants one weekend where he can be himself. He decides to go incognito at his friend's wedding. How was he to know he'd meet a sassy baker who brings heat and passion to his weekend. Can "Hank" and Cassie keep it as a one weekend stand?
From the get go I wanted to love this book. It checks all the boxes. I wanted to know more at the end (I'm a logistics kind of girl), and since this is a series (that can be read as a standalone), I am pretty sure I might get my answers there. I just wanted them now!
Definitely one click this if you like steamy hot fairy tales!

Icing on the Cake by Ann Marie Walker is a hot and steamy romance that may just show that even fairy tales can come true. Great plot, characters, and a really good story. I did feel like I needed more, but with this being book two of a series, I may have to go and read book one. That is not to say that it was distracting or that you cannot read this one alone. It is written as a standalone and it can be read as such. 4 stars.
Cassie doesn't have time for anything and Henry wants to be normal. After a night together, they both realize that they want each other, but that may not work. Henry will have to tell her the truth.
I recommend you one click this book today!
The second book in a fun and steamy series, Hank and Cassie's story was romantic, yet at the same time frustrating, you just knew the s#%t was going to hit the fan when the deception was admitted to, but was just a matter of until it did. Though chaotic, it was still handled in a believable fashion, ending with the HEA you just knew was coming...it was still a fun ride getting there.
This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
Ann Marie Walker had me at the cover. Cake. Ahhh.
I loved this fun contemporary sweet romance. There is alot of sweet here what with all the baking going on.
It isn't a 'sweet romance' in the sense of sweet and clean.
There is some language. And well grandma would blush a bright red!
But Icing on the Cake is a great read that will keep you turning the pages to the end.
I loved the characters. Hank aka Prince Henry is charming.
Cassie is just fun. The two meet and are immediately attracted to each other. The bedroom scenes are tasteful but as I said
granny would blush.
The story takes place in a weekend since Henry is only in town for the wedding of Cassie's brother. So it was a quick romance with only one actual date. The most romantic date! Which began with horse back riding and then a very romantic barn bedroom scene. This is what romance is about!
I loved getting another glimpse at Cole and Olivia (Cassies bestie) their fast and sweet and hot romance is book 1 in the series.
I had the pleasure of reviewing Black Tie Optional. My review is here.
Although I really did love this book I was very disappointed that the author didn't include an epilogue. I felt that the book ended abruptly and I wanted much more.
The story was pulled together. All the drama worked out.
But it ended flat for me.
So did Cassie end up becoming Henry's princess?
And what about her thriving business. Does she leave it behind.
I guess with this one the reader is left to decide.
I received a complimentary copy from Indie Sage Promo.
This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
This book was amazing! I was pulled in from the start and could not put it down.
I just loved the storyline and how it all played out.
Can not wait to see more from this author
Cassie is about to get her dream: her own bakery. Henry is planning one weekend that might be like a dream, being his own normal self. When Cassie and Hank meet the chemistry is off the charts, but their fairy-tale weekend together comes to an abrupt end when reality makes a harsh appearance. Plenty of laughter, some sizzling romance, and an overall fun filled cast of characters make this second in the Wild Wedding series a great read.
This is book two in the Wild Weddings series. I have not read the first story, and it isn’t a necessity to in my opinion, before you start this one. This story is listed as a standalone in the series but does refer to things that happen in the first book.
When playboy Crown Prince Henry travels to Georgia to attend the wedding of his college roommate, he decides that he doesn’t want the residents to know who he truly is. He changes his name to Hank and only brings a couple of security officers with him, including his head of security.
While trying to find his B&B, he meets Cassie. Cassie is in the middle of opening her own bakery in Chicago but has dropped everything to do the baking for her brother’s wedding. She’s taken over a local bakery to get this done. When Henry walks in looking completely lost and asking for help, Cassie steps up and helps. Sparks immediately fly between the two and the ever-careful Cassie makes a rash decision (for her) and the two have a wild night together. The next day Hank finds out that the woman who’s name he doesn’t even know, is the sister to his friend.
I was surprised by this story and in a good way. The writing was great, the characters were real and flawed, no cookie cutter heroine here. I think that my favorite character out of all of them is Olivia and I really need to know her whole story, so I will be checking out the first book in this series, ‘Black Tie Optional’.
**Reviewed for Dreams and Screams Bookaholics**
What a cute rom-com - I could totally picture myself watching instead of reading this story! I loved the references to Notting Hill, which just happens to be one of my favorite movies! I read the preview to this book in Black Tie Optional and was really looking forward to reading it. I love the whole secret royalty theme, and I know it's going to come back to bite Henry in the ass, but I still like the whole fairy tale aspect to it. Fairly predictable, but still enjoyable. Lots of laughs to go with plenty of steam. Hope there's more in the series!
Would have been a cute story without sex on the brain but even so was a good read
Icing on the Cake by Ann Marie Walker is the 2nd book in the Wild Wedding series, and my first book by this author. This book is a steamy romance, not my usual genre, but it was OK. This book is a quick read, and perfect for those who enjoy this genre.
I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
“I don’t have time to be swept off my feet.” Cassie opened the recipe book that was sitting on the counter next to her and began flipping through the pages. “Maybe just pressed up against the fridge,” she added with a giggle.
I adored Ann Marie Walker's first book in this series, 'Black Tie Optional.' She has an intelligent and witty writing style that I love. 'Icing on the Cake' however is a complete standalone and you do not have to read the first book in the series. There is nothing angtsy or overly dramatic in this book so if you are in the mood for a funny, sexy story with a guaranteed HEA, then you're in the right place.
"Well you won’t find a cure for re-virginization in one of those cookbooks,” Olivia said. “What you need is a little adventure. Put some spice in your life.”
Cassie is a seriously overworked baker but she LOVES her job. She owns her own business and is visiting a small Georgia town to help with a wedding. Her best friend pushes her to live a little. After all, what better place for a hook-up then a wedding? Also in attendance: "Hank", also known to the rest of the world as Prince Henry. He is desperate for anonymity but is quickly smitten with the smart, sexy Cassie. They have tons of chemistry and the romance is yummy.
Prince Henry ditches his security detail and swears his friends to secrecy. But will Cassie be able to forgive him once she learns his true identity? And will Henry be able to have any kind of normal relationship with Cassie? This story is a fun confection that is humorous, hot and light.
“I might look like a bloke who doesn’t know his way around a kitchen, aside from making a mean bowl of cereal. But I’m a fast study.”
Fast. Fast and furious. Fast and furious against the refrigerator. Or maybe he could just spread her out on the stainless steel counter, lower his head to her—
“What’s next on the list?”
Jeez Louise. Forget cooking foreplay, she was halfway to the finish line all on her own."
I enjoyed this fun & sexy book and appreciated that Cassie was independent and strong-willed. 'Icing on the Cake' is a lovely story if you are in the mood for some sweetness and light mixed in with some hot chemistry.
This is the second book in Ann Marie Walker’s Wild Wedding series. I was very excited about this one because it had one of my favorite things, a modern-day prince. The inspiration behind Henry aka Hank is of course Prince Harry, and I can totally get behind that any day.
What I love about this book is how much I laughed. There were so many scenes that had me smiling and getting that giddy feeling. My favorite scenes though were during the treasure hunt. Yes, there is a treasure hunt. I won’t give anything away but it’s one of my favorite things in a romance novel so far this year.
Don’t hesitate to pick this one up. It’s the perfect romantic comedy.
