As usual psychiatrist Alex Delaware is called to a horrific scene by lieutenant milo to give some thought about what might behind the murdered man with no face and no hands. The murdered man appears to be unknown to the family whose den he currently occupies.
There appear to be no suspects since the man is difficult to identify. The most likely suspect is the man who lives next door who is described as both an artist and weird. He seems to have a late night association with the fourteen year old daughter who lives in the house where the dead man was found.
After weeks of surveillance after hours the Milo and Alex neon to look at the other next door neighbor whose wife has disappeared. The head of the disfunctional family also seems to have taken a fancy to another women and during a date he is murdered. But how are these people tied together. After the second murder the police find the neighbor is not renting his house he is squatting in the house. This is the beginning of the end of the murder couple who set themselves up in nice quarters to find people susceptible to night moves.
I enjoyed the book but it is not the most riveting of the series. It seemed to drag in the middle and was somewhat confusing connecting all the pieces. If you are a fan of the series it's still must reading.
I have read most if not all of Jonathan Kellerman's Alex Delaware novels. I love Alex and Milo, although Blanche is probably my favorite character. When I saw this was a Delaware novel, I immediately requested the book
The story starts immediately with a body, which I always appreciate. Right from the first sentence, Alex is rolling out to catch up with Milo. And what an interesting conundrum - a man is found with no face and his hands have been removed, and he is in a house that is not his and where no one knows him. What an interesting and difficult case. And then there's a second body, and things really get interesting.
Night Moves is typical Kellerman - all the descriptions, the driving around doing legwork with Milo, the massive meals. The book moves along at a good clip and is highly entertaining. As always, I look forward to the next venture with Dr. Delaware.
Another good one by Jonathan Kellerman. Dr. Delaware and Milo Sturgis embark another adventure in NIGHT MOVES. This one has a really twisty plot and really interesting characters. It starts off with a bang when a suburban family return s from dinner to find a body with no face or hands. Alex and Milo investigate and find plenty of secrets in this sleepy neighborhood. Kept me up too late saying "just one more chapter."
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced readers copy of the newest book in the series, in exchange for an honest review.
I have been a fan of Mr. Kellerman’s, Alex Delaware series for many years.
I love the relationship that exists between the 2 main characters, Alex Delaware and Miles Sturgis.
I love how all of the murder mysteries that they are involved in are very complex, original and well thought out.
This book did not disappoint me.
It had so many twists and turns that kept me interested and entertained that I couldn’t wait to find some free time everyday to be able to continue reading it.
Normally, I love the Alex Delaware/ Milo series, unfortunately, this storyline just didn't hold my interest very well. But, I still enjoy reading about the characters and the banter back and forth between Alex and Milo. I hope I find the next book more to my taste.
Alex and Milo checking out murders just like always. There is usually a twist at the end. Kellerman never disappoints.
Jonathan Kellerman is one of my favorite authors and he never disappoints. This is yet another book in the Alex Delaware/Milo Sturgis series set in California and it was fantastic. Love reading the next in a series where the same characters appear! Imagine coming home to your affluent neighborhood and finding a dead stranger in your den. This is the main plot for the book, and as usual Delaware and Sturgis work together to solve the mystery. According to Good Reads, this is #33 in the series! Amazing that they are still as good all these books later. Thank you to the publisher for providing me with an advanced copy for an honest review.
Another winner from Jonathan Kellerman! Even after more than three dozen Alex Delaware novels they remain fresh and inventive. Great plot lines, intriguing surprised and well-developed characters. Highly Recommended!
