Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. Cakes and Paris already a winning combination. Really enjoyed this book, quick and feel good read.
The setting of this book seemed promising, Paris is a lovely city, and I love reading about it. The main protagonist, Nina went to work in Paris, but ended up not seeing that much of it until quite far into the book. I liked Nina, and it was good that she eventually managed to stand up to get overprotective family, who didn't seem to think that she would ever amount to much in life.
The good descriptions were lovely, and I enjoyed reading about Nina's determination to learn how to bake, and return the Patisserie back to its former glory, with the help of her new friends.
I loved all of the Characters, except for Sebastian. He was overbearing and rude, and I think that if I had been Nina, I would never have been able to forgive him, or fall back in love with him, even when he explained why he acted like he did.
Overall this was a nice book to read, it is book 3 in the series, but it can be read as a standalone novel. I would recommend this books as a light hearted read, especially for readers who love cakes.
A lovely holiday read for my summer reading fest! I really enjoyed this little gem of a story, but didnt realise it was a series so works very well as a stand alone too!
This book combines two of my favourite things - food and Paris and I think the author did both justice! The descriptive words used for the cake creations had my mouth watering and the imagery sued to describe the streets of Paris had me reminiscing!
A thoroughly lovely read - I will certainly be looking up the other books in this series now! Many thanks to netgalley for an arc of this book in return for my honest review.
Once I got this book for review it leapfrogged over many books on my TBR pile. Julie Caplin is I have to say now one of my favourite authors. This is the third book of hers I have read and it was just as wonderful as the previous two. It's a standalone book so you don't need to have read the other two first.
Nina finds herself in Paris organising a patisserie course at a run down patisserie. The course is to be run by an old crush of hers called Sebastian. He's made it clear he could do without her being there, but as he's broken his leg she is his only hope.
I really didn't want this book to end - it was just so lovely to come back to each time and read all about the people and the course they are on. The references to Paris and the streets, the visits to Laudree made me feel I was back in Paris myself. I also loved all the vintage finds in the Patisserie - it just felt like I discovering everything with them. Of course there is some romance but it seems as if it will never work out, the cliff hangers were great.
If you want to lose yourself in a world of patisserie, Paris and old world charm then this is the book for you. If you are on a diet - maybe not!
I'm giving this book 5 out of 5 stars my thanks to netgalley for an ARC to review.
I love this series and this book. A must read to lift your spirits. I am still hungry for Paris and sweets.
A nice easy read with a good story line have not read any of the others in the series but it didn't put me of and is a good stand alone book.
Paris the city of love and the most scrumptious patisserie's didn't think there was to much depth to the story, but a nice read rather scrumdidly.
Delighted to get an early copy from netgalley in return for an honest review.
Although this is the third book in this series, it’s the first I’ve read of Julie’s. I’m definitely not disappointed. It made me want to read the first two! Really enjoyed this book. Great characters and storyline. An easy read that was well done. Would recommend.
The Little Paris Patisserie is a well-written confection of a story with wonderful descriptions of Paris sites and the art of patisserie but, while it is set in such a romantic city, the romance is left on the back burner.
Sebastian is a successful chef developing a new restaurant/bistro in Paris, but he has broken his leg and needs assistance with a patisserie course he is obligated to teach. Nina is his best friend Nick's sister, who has carried a torch for Sebastian since she was a teenager. Nick suggests that Nina could be Sebastian's assistant, and he reluctantly agrees.
Once Nina arrives in Paris and assists Sebastian with the course, the focus switches to Nina and the eclectic course participants who become her newfound friends. While Nina and her friends learn the art of pastry making, they also work together to resurrect the patisserie that Sebastian wants to redevelop into a bistro.
I enjoyed reading about Nina and her relationship with all the secondary characters, but the romance between Nina and Sebastian needed just as much attention.
I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I really love this trilogy and am so excited there's going to be a fourth title after this one. I devoured the first two titles in record time and this one was no exception. I was so hooked I was late back from lunch because I just had to know how it ended. Like the previous titles along side the lovely leading lady, on this occasion Nina, are a wonderful array of supporting characters who you'd love to have around you in real life and the descriptions of the food are divine and are very likely to have you nipping in to M&S for some macrons on the way home. I cannot recommend this trilogy enough and haven't been this excited about a book in a long time.
Every time I read a book in the 'Romantic Escapes' series, I love it, and this one is no exception. Romantic Paris, delicious patisserie, a lovable heroine and a grumpy, gorgeous hero, need I say more?
Nina, the baby of the family, is tired of all the well-meaning interference in her life, she wants to be independent and find out if she can use her talent for baking to forge a career. The opportunity seems heaven sent, but then she finds out her boss is the man she grew up with and has always loved, too bad he never saw her that way.
Nina discovers so much more in Paris than a talent for patisserie, although it's absorbing reading about all the delicate patisserie she makes. Her relationships with the people on the patisserie course make this story heartwarming, and her gradual acceptance that her love for Sebastian, will not go away shows she has the tenacity to fight for something she wants.
Sebastian fears to lose his surrogate family if he gives into his feeling for Nina, but her empathy, hard work and desirability make falling in love with her again inevitable but will he take the chance?
Romance, humour, an authentic cast of characters and a beautifully described setting make this story of second chances and growing up a sweet delight to read.
I received a copy of this book from Harper Impulse via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
This is the third book in a Romantic Escapes collection. Having read the others, and loving them, I was really excited to read this book. It definitely didn’t disappoint.
Paris, pastries and unrequited love. What’s not to love. Fabulously written with a will they won’t they plot that keeps you constantly changing your mind.
Set in Paris, Nina goes to be a glorified dogs body for her brothers best friend who also happens to be her childhood crush. It’s a beautiful love story and of friendships and yummy patisseries.
A must read for the romantics out there.
This is the 3rd in the series of books based around the most amazing coffee shops, but, its also a standalone book which makes it easy.
Whilst being unable to do a lot due to a broken ankle, I devoured this in a day, it is such a heart warming novel.
I just love Paris, who doesn't? In this delicious book, we explored the beautiful city and it was great recognising places.
The story was the usual Julie Caplin story, love with a twist, but that's what makes them so enjoyable, they aren't flouncy, just down to earth boy meets girl books.
As usual, I strongly recommend this book, it's the sort of book to buy for your girlfriends.
Thanks to NetGalley, Harper Impulse and of course Julie Caplin who keeps making me smile.
Paris and pastries, Could anything be better? Such a lovely story and a fab piece of escapism. It's made me really want to go back to Paris soon!
This has been one of my favourite book series in a long time and i''ll be looking out for more from this author in the future!
A friend of mine recommended earlier this year that I read books by Julie Caplin, and I was overjoyed when I was given the opportunity to review this book by Netgalley and Harper Impulse in exchange for an honest review.
I love Paris, and always gravitate towards stories that are set in Paris, because it makes me happy being able to visualise the places I have been and that I know so well. This book was on to a winner already with the location. The storyline, which is about a burgeoning romance between Nina and Sebastian, who had childhood crushes on one another, but for a variety of reasons both fought against their feelings, is so much more than a romance. The main setting is a beautiful patisserie, which is gradually transformed by the friends who all come together to help Nina re-establish the patisserie, uncovering the hidden beauty of the building, and with Nina's incredible vision and talent to create amazing cakes and pastries. I completed this book in one sitting, and now really have a craving for an eclair! If you want a charming, heart-warming story (that might make you feel hungry too), this book is for you.
My review has been posted to my blog & Goodreads.
Review has also been tweeted as usual.
Thank you! :c)
I really enjoyed this adorable book! I haven't read the previous two books in the Romantic Escapes series, but this functions well as a stand alone. I loved the characters and the sweet little patisserie. I hope there will be more books connected with these characters.
Julie Caplin has done it again.
Woe betide anyone who interrupted me whilst I was reading this story, from beginning to end if anyone dared to approach they’d better be bringing caffeination with them.
I don’t know what it is with Julie’s writing, be it her characters or the plot but in each of the three I have read, I have found a little piece of myself in the story. Be it a name, a wish, an emotion or, as with Paris, a place I have felt myself transforming into the character and living every up and down right there with them. It is a rare breed of an author whose words have the ability to affect me in this way.
The story in itself was a joy to read, every morsel made was a delight and the characters, each with their little quirks, loveable.
There was nothing about this book I didn’t like, well except the tea flavored macaroons, I mean they should have at least been coffee *chuckles*
A charming and light, easy read. Enjoy losing yourself in a Paris made of patisserie and romance. Perhaps a bit predictable, but a lovely effortless page turner.
I love other books by Julie Caplin, so I was thrilled to get the chance to read The Little Paris Patisserie. However, the first half of the book dragged on and on for me...It took me almost a week to get through the first half, and then I read the second half in a day! I did love all the descriptions of food and the romance between Nina and Sebastian. I just wish there wasn't quite so much build up to get to that point!
I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.
This is the third book in a lovely series by Julie Caplin. When Nina is bundled off to Paris to help family friend Sebastian as he recovers from a broken leg, she is conflicted. Sebastian has been the unrequited object of her affection for many years and she embarrassed them both with a clumsy declaration. Now he needs her help and she is available so she ends up in France helping him do a baking course in an old patisserie that he is going to turn into a bistro. When Nina spends more time with the patisserie's few patrons and the little man who works there, she finds herself baking and doing little things to spruce up the place. She also finds that her feelings for Sebastian have not disappeared even as he treats her like his flunky.
Nina and Sebastian have this chemistry that just pulls you into the story. The secondary characters are fun and quirky. I loved this book. I loved the slow building romance, the descriptions of the shoppe as it comes to life and the whole patisserie aspect. When I finished it, I had an incredible urge to go bake something.
Being new to the series, I promptly went out and bought the first two books and eagerly await the fourth!
