I really wanted to enjoy this book, but it was so unrealistic that I could not finish it.

I got this copy from NetGalley in trade for an honest review. Thank you Judith Price for this opportunity to review this book.

I try to finish the book until the end, but somehow, I missed the story completely. I’m not quite sure whether because it’s part of a series and I haven’t read the first 2 books.

There are some parts I missed and I keep looking for the explanation during the whole book. Sadly, I got only bits and pieces. Not enough to explain the background story.

For example, who’s Jill, what happen in the previous life with David. For the plot, it’s quite fast pacing but for me it’s a blur. There are 2 completely different plots and they don’t really look connected until the last chapter. The one that doesn’t really connecting is the secret group. Somehow, I don’t know where the group comes from, what’s the connection with Jill.

Characters are quite interesting. Jill has a lot of personal issue. She’s not on firm ground, questioning lots of stuff. Sometimes she’s too stubborn. Not a good combination. It shows weakness as a woman that works in justice department. Again, I don’t quite aware of the background story of Jill. David on the other hand is a mysterious character. He’s there, mentioned in some parts, and then he’s gone for some parts. Their relationship is not quite clear.

Recommend for those who like a bit of a twist in a story and some political stuff. I think for this one, you need to read the previous books.

This book is about covert operations, double agents, lies, and deception. Everything that makes an intriguing spy novel.
Move over 007 Jill is on the case!
This is just one of a series. A lot better than the average spy thriller.
Interesting, exciting, explosive. And you'll never guess who's the good guys and who are the bad.
