I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It wasn't what I expected going into it. The synopsis promised a vampire romance, old lovers resurfacing (one of my favorite tropes), and some lgbtq representation, but what I got was much more than that. I thought this would be a fun read, but I also got excellent character development, some cool action, and the promise for more. The one thing that hindered my enjoying was that ending. It threw me for one hell of a loop that I was not expecting. It was a fun, wild ride, however, and I will be picking up more books by this author in the future.
This book was not what I expected! It started off one way, then went in a completely different direction. Some parts in the beginning of the story was dragging, but picked up as the story unfolded. I can't say the story wasn't full of action and love in all different ways, I mean those are the things I love in vampire stories so I wasn't completely disappointed. I felt the characters had grown up as the story went and I did have a few jaw dropping, teeth clenching, and “are you kidding me” moments.
Even though this story did keep me entertained, I do have some mixed feelings about a couple of things. One, this is not an MMF romance, even though the cover gives you that picture. Two, I would have liked to have had POV of all characters but I get why the author didn't do this towards the end of the story.
I don't want to give too much away about the story. If you like vampire romance, this just might be the book for you.
***I voluntarily reviewed this ARC for an honest review via NetGalley, this is my honest opinion and has not been influenced by the author, Publishers or NetGalley in anyway.*** Thank you!
I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review through Netgalley.
Where do I start? At first I thought that it would be hard to write a review without spoilers, but the more that I progressed through the book, the more I saw there wasn’t a lot to spoil.
I will start by saying that I had to make myself finish this one in order to fulfill my commitment to receiving ARC’s. The one reason that I gave a rating of two stars instead of one is because the editing of spelling, grammar and all things that should be edited before publishing a book, were spot on and that is huge for me! It’s harder for me to read a great book with horrible editing than for me to read a less than great book with good editing.
Next is that this is promoted? Tagged? Presented as an MMF romance and it is not that at all. There are two main male characters, gay, and a female that comes into the equation through the last 2/3 of the book, but without giving away too much, I will just say there is no part of this book that is in the MMF category as I see it.
As for the rest of it, there is just too much of it that seems unrealistic to me. I understand that it is a vampire book so expect “unreal” but I’ve read many paranormal books and the ones that strike most true for me are the ones that present the paranormal beings as mostly melded into normal society. Parts of this did that, but mostly not.
When Tristan first finds Justice again, he doesn’t recognize him right off the bat, but then slowly.... OMG, the love of my life I haven’t seen in 7 years and have no relationships since he left, because I was so devastated at the loss... but he doesn’t recognize him immediately? Vampires are generally kept in an eternal state of sameness when they are changed, how on earth could he not be recognized by the love of his life??
The rest of the book was that way for me. Bouncing around from night to day, hungry to not, love or not, running or not, just too much of the whole story that didn’t flow well for me. Sorry...
Fangs for the Holidays starts off fast and keeps readers guessing from the very first page. The characters are strong although Tristan is a bit naïve in a kind of too stupid to live way, but at the same time kind of fits him, so it works out. The romance is kind of in two parts with two romances to read about and the sex scenes are super-hot with some m/m scenes.
I have some pretty mixed feelings about this story, on the one hand I enjoyed the book, but on the other there were some things that just doesn’t sit right with me so at different points in the story I would find myself questioning what the author was thinking. The book starts off with a delicious sounding m/m romance between Justice and Tristan and then the story ends up being an m/f romance. The characters do some complete 180s, which is a bit too confusing. I think maybe this is because the story didn’t provide a lot of details especially about Justice’s mood swings although it did provide an explanation at the end.
Anyway, I don’t want to give too much away. If you love vampire romance, the book is a hot romance that provides a kind of different outlook on vampires and once I started reading it, I definitely wanted to know how things turned out, so like I said above I have mixed feelings about the book.

This was one crazy story. I wasn’t too sure about it during the first half. But I changed my mind in the second half. This is a paranormal vampire story.
Tristan is turned into a vampire by his first love Justice. But Justice is in hiding from the head vampire because he left the Brotherhood.
This story is full of romance and action that keeps you on the edge of your seat trying to find out more.
Thanks NetGalley and Riverdale Avenue Books for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Overall I have mixed feelings... Pro- vampires, old lover is back after 7 years of disappearance, M/M, good vs evil, HFN ending... Con- bad guy burning his ‘love’ on fire and letting her feel it and making her son watch, the ending just came and ending quickly, so called old lover turned and did a 180 on Tristian and became what the leader wanted, I’m also confused at curtain parts like why didn’t we get Justice is p.o.v.? (Its only in tristian’s p.o.v.) To better understand him then from watching him be the good guy to becoming and insecure, conceded, and so much more of a jack@ss. What was his life really like.... why 7 years later did he finally try to fight his maker?
There was never any sex between Morgan and Tristian so why the ‘L’ word at the end? Is this it or will there be more? Like I said I got confused more then a few times.
