An Amish Heirloom
An Amish Heirloom is a collection of four Amish stories made up by four different authors.
A Legacy Of Love by Amy Clipston, The Cedar Chest by Beth Wiseman, The treasured Book by Kathleen Fuller , A Midwife’s Dream by Kelly Irvin. The authors did not disappoint. I love the stories and the characters, both were well written and real like characters. Each of the stories is centered around an heirloom, rocking chairs, cedar chest, an antique Bible, and a baby quilt. These stories are full of inspirations and faithfulness.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Zondervan through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
This is a collection of four stories that show us love, understanding, forgiveness, and the search for our true paths in life. Through rocking chairs, a Bible, a crib, and an old cedar chest, the couples in these stories search in both the past and the present. It can be hard at times to really know if we are walking the path God wants us to walk. I love how each of the authors brought the couples together and helped them work through their troubles. These couples tend to be old friends who find one another in a new light. I would highly recommend these stories. I received a copy through Netgalley. The review was done strictly on my own.
This collection of Amish novellas is filled with hope! Each story is centered around an heirloom. Susie Bontrager’s grandparents’ rocking chairs; Emma Fisher’s great-grandmother’s unopened cedar chest; an antique Bible Shane Broyles and Lucy Fisher found at a flea market and midwife Iris Beachey and a baby quilt. Every novella is distinctive and full of inspiration and faithfulness. I enjoy these short novels as they are a nice break from a regular length book without compromising the story. This is a talented group of authors and a definite must-read!
I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley. The opinions are my own.
Very enjoyable stories about different heirlooms. Each heirloom had a special meaning that had been passed down through generations. This collection of stories is a sweet example of four authors who write wonderful Amish books. Novellas are a great way of introducing authors to readers.Highly recommended!
This is a collection of stories from several all-star authors of Amish fiction. Every story will touch your heart.
If you love Amish fiction, this is a collection that you don’t want to miss. It’s one that will definitely go on my “read again”shelf.
Clean, sweet stories with a theme of faith and love.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. This is my honest opinion of the book.
If you're a fan of Amish fiction, this is a good book for you to check out.
This book contains four novellas from popular authors of Amish-themed novels: Amy Clipston, Beth Wiseman, Kathleen Fuller, and Kelly Irvin. It's an enjoyable read of how heirlooms (chairs, hope chest, Bible, and a baby blanket) impact four different people. It's a quick, easy read which focuses on faith and love.
Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley, but I wasn't required to leave a positive review.

An Amish Heirloom
An Amish Heirloom is a collection of novellas from four of my favorite Amish fiction authors: Amy Clipston, Beth Wiseman, Kathleen Fuller, and Kelly Irvin. This set of stories does not disappoint! It is fun to read while reminding us of values such as love, honesty, and faith.
In the first story, A Legacy of Love, by Clipston, we get to learn Leon’s story. We first met Leon in A Place at Our Table, the first in her Amish Homestead series. Leon is a local volunteer firefighter and a carpenter. When his ex girlfriend Susie comes to him to ask him to refurbish two antique chairs for her to use in her new home after she marries, he is more than happy to help her. What he doesn’t expect is to find that his feelings for her have not lessened with time apart. If anything, the more time he spends with her as he is fixing the chairs, the more he realizes how much he still loves her. Susie also is experiencing doubts about her feelings for her fiancé and wondering if Leon doesn’t still hold her heart. Will they mend their love while he is mending her chairs or will they realize they are best apart? I really enjoyed this story. I am excited about the next book in the Amish Homestead series also! You can always count on Clipston to engage you with her characters and make you smile.
The second story is The Cedar Chest by Beth Wiseman. When Emma and her daughter Catherine discover an old chest in the basement full of letters written back in the twenties by their ancestors, they can’t help but explore them and discover more about the past. However, they soon realize that their family almost wasn’t to be. A series of circumstances caused some trouble that had to be worked through. Catherine, especially, is moved by these letters, as she and her husband have been having some difficulties. As she reads more, she learns that she can work through whatever is happening if she just has faith and doesn’t give up on her and her husband’s love. I thought this story was really sweet. I love books that go back and forth in time, between the past and the present. Wiseman does a great job here of making you want to know what is happening in both worlds. I would love to read more about these characters in the future!
The next story is by Kathleen Fuller, The Treasured Book. In this story Shane and Lucy are old friends who meet again when a kindly, although meddling, older lady needs Lucy’s assistance and Shane is there also. Lucy has always liked Shane but since he is not Amish, she knows that it won’t work out between them. Little does she know, Shane has been considering converting to the Amish faith for some time now. That is, in fact, why he is there. He is living with friends while he speaks with the Bishop and prays over his future. Unfortunately, his old fiancé and his family are against his choice and put pressure on him to come back home. Will he cave in to the pressure or will he and Lucy find a future together? I thought this story was great. I can’t wait to read Words from the Heart, which was a prelude to this story. Fuller did a great job of really reaching me with her characters!
The final story in the set is The Midwife’s Dream by Kelly Irvin. In this story, Iris is a midwife who longs for the chance to have her own family and babies. She loves being a midwife but her heart calls out for a home and family of her own. When a young English girl and her boyfriend arrive at her home to deliver their child, Iris helps them as she would any other. They have a sweet young girl named Lilly and then leave during the night, leaving the child in Iris’ care. She and Mahon, who has secretly loved her for his entire life, work together to take care of the child and also to find her parents. The more time they spend together, the more Iris realizes that maybe what her heart desires has been staring at her all along. I really liked this story. It made me smile and reminded me that love comes when we least expect it and in God’s timing. I have not read the prelude to this one either, Irvin’s Upon a Spring Breeze, but I am sure I will soon!
Thank you to each of these ladies for sharing your characters with us! I fall in love every time I open one of your books and I am grateful, as always, for the chance to meet them. I received a free copy of this story from NetGalley for my honest opinion. All opinions are expressly my own!
This book gives you a look into 4 peoples lives and how the heirloom they have come across affects them. The first one with the chairs. They lead her back to a past love. The second a hope chest. The chest brings memories from generations back that help a young woman see the importance in her marriage. The third a Bible. This Bible helps her see the promise of love. The fourth a Baby Blanket. Through giving up a man who wasn't her true love and caring for a baby who needed her at that moment she is given a chance to see true love. All these stories are about Gods plan for us. You will feel the Love and Faith in these stories
I simply adored the stories in this book. I have read several similar anthologies by the same writers and I found myself reading through it quickly and getting lost in the stories just I have reading previous books.
A lovely collection of four separate stories, each one featuring a unique heirloom--old letters, rocking chairs, an old Bible, and a baby quilt--and a tender romance.
"Please, God. Guide my heart and show me the right path, the one you have for me."
The main characters are all people of faith, searching for God's will in their life, serving their families and others in their communities while they wait. Some of the couples were acquaintances, or friends from childhood. One story involved a struggling newlywed couple. I liked this one the best as it had a dual timeline told through old letters. There are some difficult situations involving unwed mothers, miscommunication, and interference from others, making their road to love complicated.
I enjoyed all of the stories and getting a glimpse of the Amish faith community, which is something I know very little about. I look forward to reading more from these authors who were all new to me.
Recommend to readers who enjoy gentle Christian-based romances.

I always enjoy reading novellas, and I recommend this book to anyone enjoying the Amish genre. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Zondervan through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
This was not my usual type of read. I was looking for something easy and heartwarming, and it did provide that in the end. I was disappointed with the first story, which seemed very predictable, with nothing much happening and nothing Amish about it except a lot of foreign words. I enjoyed the second story more, and then the last two I thought were really good, with much more about Amish beliefs and customs and the challenges and satisfactions of the life, as well as deeper emotional content. I'm new to Amish romance, but I would read the last two authors again--Kathleen Fuller and Kelly Irvin. Overall I was glad to have tried this collection, and I'd recommend it.
A wonderful collection of four Amish Inspiration novellas.

I received an advance reader copy of this book from netgalley and Zondervan Fiction in return for my honest opinion of the book. All opinions and statements expressed are strictly my own.
LEGACY OF LOVE by Amy Clipston
Losing a friend, made Leon realize how alone he was. Seeing his ex girlfriend, brought questions of why he let her go. The legacy of sixty years of love that had been shared, with these rocking chairs, she brought in for repairs. Was a pass love, repairable, to be for a lifetime.
THE CEDAR CHEST ..by Beth Wiseman
A treasure in the basement left, to heavy to move, and broken key in lock, for 3-4 generations. Within, among things were envelopes, to open one, revealed a mystery..The sharing good and bad strengthen the love in marriage, and would for Catherine and Abram.
THE TREASURED CHEST by Kathleen Fuller
Story of Shane being English and Lucy being Amish. For Shane coming to term with wanting the simple, peaceful life. Not the business of a law office, and the girl he had been dating.
THE MIDWIFE. by Kelly Long
Iris helping a teen girl, give birth, only to find they left after she had awake, leaving a baby girl. With Moran a friend, they seek to find, and that was only the beginning All 4 stories are by seasoned authors were a delight to read. About the young maturing, and what they want out of life, with true values, family and friends. Given ARC by Net Galley and Zondervan for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
An Amish Heirloom is a collection of four stories involving Amish characters in various parts of the United States. Before reading An Amish Heirloom, I was familiar with two of the authors of these stories. I have read and enjoyed books by Amy Clipston and Beth Wiseman. Kathleen Fuller and Kelly Irvin were new authors for me, I will look for other books by them. All the stories were faith-based and each was well written.
Having lived in and around various Amish communities, I can say that the research of each story reflects their lifestyle. Reading about the use of cell phones within the communities was a bit of a shock to me, but times change even for Amish.
Each story is independent of the others. I cannot pick a favorite. Some of the characters have appeared in other books and might be familiar to other readers. All are romances with the normal angst of getting the main characters together.
The settings include Lancaster, PA, Middlefield, OH, Missouri and Iowa. Whenever Middlefield, OH comes up as a place in a story I tend to read a little more carefully. I lived there for nine years and had Amish neighbors. It was fun to learn that Middlefield Cheese is now named Rothenbuhler Cheese Chalet. (As an aside, if you like swiss cheese and see any made in Middlefield, give it a try.)
I recommend An Amish Heirloom and give it 4 (out of 5) stars.
I received a free copy of the book from NetGalley and Zondervan Fiction in exchange for my honest review. Thank you.

An Amish Heirloom contains four beautiful stories of second chances, of meeting characters from the regular series each of these novellas were drawn from, and for sweet love stories. Amy Cilipston's "Legacy of Love" is a touching story of Leon and Susie- who broke up a few years ago, and now take a new look at each other even while Susie is engaged to Josh. She starts to question WHY she is marrying Josh.
In Beth Wiseman's "The Cedar Chest", old love letters from Emma's great grandparents draw Emma and her married daughter Catherine closer, and give Emma an opportunity to help Catherine with marital difficulties. In "The Treasured Book, old friends Lucy and Shane re-discover each other even as Shane explores converting to the Amish faith. And in "The Midwife's Dream", Iris longs for her own family while delivering her friends and cousin's babies. Will she realize her true love is already by her side? I wholeheartedly recommend this touching and sweet collection which I already want to re-read!
A sweet collection of four Amish short stories. Just in time for Valentine's Day, although not mentioned of course.
A Legacy of Love by Amy Clipston
The story of Leon and Susie. They had been together as teenagers, but were too young and broke up. Now she is getting married to another, but has unresolved feelings for Leon, and he for her. A sweet story, and it was nice to see her troubled about hurting another. Felt sorry for her fiance, but still was hoping for Leon. Really liked this one.
The Cedar Chest by Beth Wiseman
A story of the past. When Emma finds the love letters of her great grandparents, her and her mother read up on the past. Interesting, and ties in with the troubles Emma is feeling towards her husband. I liked the story, but at times found it confusing to keep track of whether they were in the past or the present.
The Treasured Book by Kathleen Fuller
A story of the English Shane and the Amish Lucy. A sweet story, and one I liked overall, but felt like conflicts were thrown in just to be resolved. Liked the characters, but not my favorite of the grouping.
The Midwife’s Dream by Kelly Irvin
The story of Iris, the midwife, and Mohan her friend's brother. When two young English kids show up, and Iris helps give birth to a sweet little girl, the plot thickens. When Iris wakes she finds the teenagers had left the baby and disappeared. Seeking help she goes to Mohan, who has strong feelings for her, and they go looking for the teens. Sweet story, and like the characters. Liked this story.
I've long enjoyed these short novella collections in the Amish series, and this one was no exception. Each of the stories brings something different to the table, but they all center around generations past, memories lost and reclaimed, and the joy of a continuous thread. Some of the books are connected to other series that I have read (such as A Legacy of Love), while others introduced characters that left me wondering if there is more to the series (The Treasured Book), but each story brought a unique lesson to be learned.
