Molly Jebber is a talented author who always gives readers what they have come to expect from her books, endearing characters and a delightful story.
Such a precious story of learning what love really is and how waiting on God’s timing is always right and we get more that we ever expect.
I look forward to reading Molly Jebber's books in the future.
I received a free copy of this book through NetGalley with no money exchanged only a request for an honest review. This is my review in my own words.
I loved reading this book. It was a wonderful story line. I loved the story and the characters. I didn't want it to end. It held my attention from start to finish. I can't wait to read more from Molly. I highly recommend this book to others.
Fantastic storyline and fantastic Amish Fiction. I love reading Molly's books. She makes the reader feel as though they are part of the story.
It is impossible not to love the characters in this book! I was rooting for Liza and Jacob from the very moment they met. I also hurt right along with Ellie, Peter, and Mae. The family members and Amish community as well as the local English sheriff and doctor are so supportive of the widows and their children. It would certainly make life more difficult not to have this invaluable support.
Readers will also feel concern when some bad folks cause trouble for our dear ones here in Charm. I've been to Charm, Ohio, and the Amish community there is so quaint and sweet. The businesses run by the Amish flourish and locals and tourists alike frequent them. I would love to visit Liza's bakery and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, along with some of her delicious molasses cookies. Molly Jebber painted such a beautiful picture with words that I felt like I was there. But a little taste would have been nice too. Wouldn't it, readers? Haha
I rate this book 5 stars and highly recommend it to those who love Amish fiction, Christian fiction, good wholesome reading and a good clean romance.
I received a digital version of this book from netgalley and Zebra Publishing in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own. I was not required to write a positive review.
The theme of this book is second chances. Three of the main characters—Jacob, Liza, and Ellie—find themselves facing decisions for second chances at happiness. I loved the main characters of Jacob and Liza and was interested to follow their story to its happy conclusion. The storyline is filled with SO many twists and turns that at times it became a little distracting. Despite that, it’s a sweet, clean Amish love story that’s well worth reading. I am already looking forward to the rest of the books in this series.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. I was not required to give a positive review. This is my honest opinion of the book.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK
Liza Schrock in content running the bakery her late husband bought for her, and has no need for another man in her life. Paul was enough for a lifetime of men for her. Until Jacob Graber and his daughter Ellie walks into her bakery and her life.
I enjoyed this sweet Amish story, though some of the time it was a bit slow and things were repeated often. Lisa was happy to be rid of her demanding husband and could now live without fear of his abusive behavior. Though she reacts to Jacob differently than any other man, she is still content with being alone. But Jacob is determined to win Lisa over. I didn’t really care for Jacob’s attitude in several areas. He was rather pushy, even asking Lisa’s family personal questions that were none of his business at the time. And I didn’t like the way he talked to his daughter Ellie about how he felt over his wife’s death, how he missed her too, and needed a friend. To me, this just added to Ellie’s negative feelings, and made Jacob a bit self centered, which is not how Amish men are to act. Soles he sounded like more the whiny child. And I could understand Ellie’s feelings. She had lost her mom after all, and was at the age to question Amish life. And with her dads feelings and attitude all over the place she needed more stability than him.
This story jumps around a lot, it deals with a lot of issues lightly but it doesn’t get too deep in any of them. For Amish fiction lovers, you will enjoy Lisa’s story. The ending is much better than the rest of the book so hang in there and keep reading!

This is the first book in the Amish Charm Bakery series.
Liza's late husband was a well liked and highly respected man in the community. No one could have know he was verbally abusive to Liza and criticized all she did. This was an arranged marriage, not something she wanted but a marriage non the less and she had to make the best of it. When he passes her heart is closed to the possibility of another relationship, after all look how her late husband treated her and how the town"s people see him. Not equal for sure. Her saving grace is her husband set up a bakery for her, for a profit to benefit him of course but it's her escape. Her bakery makes her happy, it's her shining light in an otherwise dismal life. A new man comes to town with his rebellious and disrespectful daughter. She is struggling after her mother dies. She needs a Mom to put her back on the right track. The more time Liza spends with newcomer widower Jacob Graber the more her heart may want more than just friendship. Friends, that what she is convinced she and Jacob can stay and the relationship go no further. Jacob's daughter, Ellie is in no hurry to have a new mother and does all in her power to let them know her feelings. When Ellie has thoughts of going over to the English world Jacob is heartbroken and turns to Liza for support. Liza shows nothing but friendship and support to the teen . Lending an understanding ear and a gentle hug, can Liza make the teen see her as a friend and not competition for her Dad's affection? I really enjoyed seeing the community rally around Ellie and help her in her time of uncertainty. Seeing her mature and accept the Amish community and God's word was heartwarming.
I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the next in the series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley through Kensington Books. All opinions expressed are mine.
Such a cute story! Liza was in an unpleasant marriage which of course she put up with because being Amish there was no other option. Once her husband died, she never spoke down about her husband or her marriage, not wanting to taint the perfect memory everyone had of her husband. But after her meddling sister and her husband continue to try to push her towards another marriage she finally relents and tells them why she's so scared of marriage.
I loved Jacob's character but even more than that I loved Ellie. She was so fierce, so difficult and so not what we typically see from an Amish teen. I appreciated that the author gave her difficulty in dealing with her mother's death and reluctance to accept her father's interest in Liza.
The ending was pretty predictable but still I enjoyed reading how the author developed it.
This Amish romance was enjoyable and an easy read. Something I needed at this particular time. Liza is a widow from a difficult and abusive type relationship. And when she meets widower, Jacob, she does not know if she can trust again. Finding solace in her work, she seems to know that she does want to follow her heart, but there are obstacles standing in her way that she does not see a way to overcome.
This is a story of love, learning to trust, family, community and all those things that are important in life.
I enjoyed this story and it was a good read.
I received an ebook copy from NetGalley. All thoughts are my own.
"Liza's Second Chance" is the first book in the "Amish Charm Bakery" series. This book did not flow well for me. It made me think of riding on a dirt road after a rain storm. The scenery may be beautiful, but it is hard to focus on the beauty when the ride is so rough. It is much easier to notice the surroundings when riding on a newly paved road. This doesn't mean it will be the same for everyone. My tastes in author's writing styles are not going to be the same as another person's. In some ways, I think this story would have been better as a novella. It kept going over the same issues. I liked how the characters wanted to know God's plan for their lives, but Jacob felt like a bull in a china shop plowing ahead trying to get Liza to marry him. He didn't take into account anyone's feelings but his own. He said he'd wait for as long as it took for her to trust him, but then went right back to telling Liza they belonged together and she was foolish to think otherwise. It was a nice story and wrapped up nicely.
I got a free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own and given voluntarily. No compensation was received for my review.
This was a heart warming story. Liza’s fought her second chance for a long time and her reasons were easy to understand.. Enjoyed how Jacob courted her and got his second chance too. Good story from start to finish!
I was gifted a copy and my review is voluntary...
This is the very first book I read by Molly Jebber and I found it enjoyable and refreshing. The book deals with the effects of an unhappy marriage and the reluctance to try to love again. It also looks at the subject of parenting issues when dealing with raising a child as a single widowed parent.
I would recommend this book for a first time Amish genre reader. It has enough substance to keep you interested but it is not weighed down by heavy subjects. The characters are likeable, even when they are experiencing issues of their own. I will definitely be on the lookout for more of Molly Jebber's books.
Liza's Second Chance is a fabulous beginning to the new Amish Charm Bakery series. I thought it was a fun and entertaining book. Looking forward to book 2. I give this one 4 1/2 stars.
This story made me laugh and cry. I had a hard time putting this down. I have loved all of Molly Jebber’s books and this one was no exception. I look forward to reading more books in this wonderful new series. I loved all of these fantastic characters. Each character grows as the story unfolds. This is a great Amish fiction story. I received this book from Celebratelit for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
I hope there aren’t many men among the Amish who were like Liza’s late husband. He bullied her and made her distrustful of males. She plans never to marry again. She’s thankful for her bakery, where she can minister through sweet treats. However, when Jacob and his rebellious teen daughter move to Charm, the two sense an attraction. But could it work out for Liza and Jacob, with her hesitation to commit and his daughter’s displeasure? This novel set in 1912 gives a bit of different view of Amish life. I found the dialogue and characters’ thoughts somewhat unnatural at times—as if the details need to get included even if it sounds rather artificial. And five-year-old Peter sounds rather precocious in his speech. Amish children grow up speaking Pennsylvania Dutch at home so I doubt he’d speak with non-Amish adults. But the story has exciting parts—that’s where there’s plenty of showing not telling—and it did hold my interest. The main characters are well-developed and the plot believable.
I enjoyed this book! I had a couple not really issues but annoyances...first. I liked Liza, loved her connection with her family! I hated that she kept such a secret about her life and didn't even share it with her sister. I liked Jacob I really did but my biggest issue with this book was that everyone excepted him way to easily...like Hi your new to town you have my blessing to marry my sister.....a little unrealistic to me. any one else have a harder time excepting this???
I had a hard time keeping in mind the setting.....1912....I had to remind myself more than once but hey thats not that big of a deal.
Other than those things I liked the story and will read more from the series...I can't wait to see who the next book will be about.
I received a copy of this story for review...all opinions are my own
Liza’s Second Chance by Molly Jebber is the first novel in The Amish Charm Bakery series. We go back in time to 1912 in Charm, Ohio. Paul Schrock purchased the bakery for Liza (as an investment), and Liza considers the bakery her haven. Liza was happy to be off in her bakery each day making delectable delights for her customers. It allowed her to be away from her husband’s criticisms (mental abuse). Paul projected a different persona to the community. Liza never told a soul about her miserable marriage. He has been gone a year, and Liza is happy with her single status. Then Jacob Graber and his troubled daughter, Ellie arrive in town. Esther, Liza’s sister, believes Jacob would be the perfect mate for Liza (a matchmaker at heart). Ellie has a belligerent attitude and ruined Jacob’s last relationship. Jacob moved them to Charm to give Ellie a chance to start over, but the outside world fascinates her. Liza aids Jacob and Ellie in adjusting to the new town. She introduces Ellie to her niece, Hannah hoping they will become friends (and it will help Ellie’s attitude). Things seem to be improving with Ellie, but then she disappears into the English world with a young man. Why did she take off and where did she go? While Ellie is away, Jacob and Liza spend time together and grow closer. Jacob wishes to marry, but Liza is reluctant. What would happen when Ellie returns? Will there be a happily ever after for Liza and Jacob?
Liza’s Second Chance is nicely written and has a nice flow. I found the book easy to read. The author incorporated major events from the time-period like the sinking of the Titanic, the Olympics, and Harry Houdini. I did find a repetition of information. Details surrounding Liza’s first marriage for example are repeated several times. Amish words are interjected into the dialogue. The meaning of them can be discerned from the text. Christian elements include scripture, accepting God and his plan for a person’s life, forgiveness, power of prayer and having faith. We get to see the importance of family and friends. Liza has a close relationship with her family and they are happy to include the Graber family. I felt that the author could have developed the characters more. There is a lack of details on the main characters background that could have given them depth. I did become annoyed with Jacob at times. Liza wants to allow time for a friendship to develop between herself and Ellie, but Jacob keeps forcing the issue. His lack of understanding was frustrating for me. Liza’s Second Chance is a light, sweet Amish romance that will appeal to fans of Amish fiction.
Liza Schrock is running her hometown bakery in Charm, Ohio. The year is 1912. However, the reader would not be aware of this except for a few references to major events happening during this time period. When newcomer, Jacob Graber moves to town, LIza finds her carefully guarded heart starting to care again. Widowed from an abusive marriage, she is not looking for any type of love. Meanwhile, Jacob is having a hard time raising his willful daughter. Will these two find the love they both seek? Or will they decide that love isn't worth the hurt?
I look forward to another book in the series. I received a copy through Netgalley. The review is strictly my own.
Liza was working in her Amish bakery. Liza had been able to keep her mentally abusive husband and horrible marriage to Paul of ten years a secret. Friends wouldn’t stop mentioning Paul to her and that didn’t help pretending any easier. Paul had been dead for a year. Liza had made the bakery a success with her talent for creating new recipes. The bakery had been her peaceful place away from Paul. Paul had been good to her family and other people in need but it came at price for her. It had been the most miserable ten years of Liza’s life. Esther was her sister and and tried to be a matchmaker and sent several interested men to Liza but Luza would never trust another man. Jacob came into the shop with his teenage daughter Elle and caught Liza’s eye. And it was the first man to catch her attention in a long time. Jacob’s cheerfulness and kind demeanor added to his appeal. Jacob’s wife and passed away three years ago liza had occupied Jacob’s mind since he’d left town and he couldn't explain why he was so drawn to Liza. Liza helped Jacob and Elle to adjust to the new town they now lived in. Things seemed to be going better but Elle was very interested in the English and the English world. Then Elle disappeared with a young Englishman. While Elle was gone Jacob and Liza get close. Jacob wants to get married to Liza but she is reluctant.
I liked this book a lot. It was an easy read. This had a good plot but was a little slow for me at times. Also some things were repeated. I loved how Liza was close to her family and they to her. Jacob did annoy me at times but not enough to not like him. I felt Elle just wanted to try the English life and wasn’t so much her mother’s death especially three years later not completely anyway. I liked the characters and the ins and outs of this book and i recommend.
Liza's Second Chance his story of Love, Faith and Hope. You have an Oklahoma dust storm that comes along instead of the Prayed For Rain by James. One day during the storm the neighbors neice is stuck stranded over at his house. The next thing you know is that he is forced to marry her. She had secrets of her own and he learns them. He starts to think was this a good and meant to be by GOD idea? Well is it? Will they love each other? Only you could know if you read this story.
