Modern fairytale retellings are just the most fun - tracing the threads of the original story, but still not knowing exactly how things will unfold is an adventure I will always go on. This Cinderella adaptation hit all the right notes.
A modern re-telling of our favorite princess, Cinderella, this book left disappointment. It was funny and cute, but I found the characters to be under-developed and unlikeable. The romance was a little cheesy in parts and I found it hard to take it seriously. I overall was not a fan and don't know if I would read other similar books.
This was a decent romance. I enjoyed Claire and Killian's chemistry and the story had enough steam. Overall, it was a fairly predictable story, but that doesn't make it bad. This would be a nice beach read when you just want to shut your mind off and enjoy a steamy book. I would probably continue the series.
The writing is good but some what cliched and the plot was predictable, This is a light hearted read for people who enjoy a bit of romance
I'm sorry. I've come to the conclusion that this book was not for me. I could not finish it and will not review it.
Claire and Killian clearly have some issues that they need to work through. I like the fast pace of the book. I found it entertaining. I like the word banter between Claire and Killian. I also like how the writer describes Killian male dominance. It helped me visualize him better. I have to say the same for Claire. All in all. I liked the book
Claire Montgomery is a 26 year old data member of a well-known PR company, Asher & Associates based in San Diego. Her company works to fix the images of high profile clients and the newest one is a member of the Stone family in Chicago. Her boss is her soon-to-be stepmother, Andrea Asher, and her daughter, Margaux Asher, is a key social media member of the same team.
The description of the novel describes Claire as a fighter and not a princess, but I didn’t really see much fighter in her aside from some bickering as she tries to stay away from Killian. She has her reasons for not wanting to be with him and she “fights” her feelings for him. However, she mainly is a pushover when it comes to everything else as she’s fearful of negative impacts on her career. I wished she stood up more for herself overall and worked a little harder about being the best that she could be in her job as it felt like she never put in a ton of time into her work considering she was supposed to be driven by the desire to do well in her career.
Killian Stone is the youngest child of the Stone family and CEO of Stone Global Corporation. His brother Trey has royally made a mistake in a sexual encounter that became public and the reason Claire’s PR Emergency Image Repair team was hired. He also has a secret that he’s not a biological member of the Stone family and he must work to maintain this secret. I’m not sure if this will be a larger deal in the future novels as it seemed to be a forgotten plot piece in this novel (this is a series where this couple are featured in the next so it could be addressed in those books).
Before entering the Stone building, Margaux has called “dibs” on Killian and threatens to expose Claire’s secrets if Claire tries to pursue anything with Killian (even before they meet). Claire must, therefore, fight her initial attraction as Killian turns out to be much more charming and handsome than she expected. Killian feels an insane attraction to Claire and must try and get her to see that they should pursue a relationship.
The two characters have crazy sexual chemistry and lust after each other, but it took a long time before I sensed any substance between the two. Even by the end, I felt that this couple’s connection wasn’t fully formed as they desired each other, but didn’t seem to find a lot of common ground. As their relationship builds, it would be nice to see some substance between them in book two. The points of view change between each main character which helps the reader determine what is going on through each of their heads at any given moment. This helped to give background to the characters and story and I enjoyed that both Killian and Claire got their “say” in what was occurring in the story.
Overall, I’m curious to see how Claire and Killian’s story officially turns out in the next novel, although, you could read this as a standalone as the ending is fairly conclusive. The Cinderella adaption portion is felt with Claire’s relationship between Andrea and Margaux, but I felt the “prince” portions were very forced as the moments are told to the reader rather than occurring naturally. The novel is fairly fast-paced and light-hearted which made for a fun and interesting read. Although it wasn’t quite the story I thought it would be, I’m still glad that I took a chance and read the first novel in this series.
**Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for my review copy to read. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.**
Loved reading the fabulous and fantastic love story. Claire works the company that is suppose to improve the reputation of Killian Stone's brother, Trey. As Claire is fighting her attraction and pull towards Killian, Killian's charm, persistence, and overall dedication to wanting Claire continues to pursue her. Claire's evil stepmother to be has blackmail information that could send Claire to jail, and Claire's evil stepsister to be set her sight and called dibs on Killian. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, full of action, twists, and turns, and a must read love story.
I reviewed a copy of the book through NetGalley.
Wouldn’t we all love to meet our Prince Charming? What if we had the money to call someone in and erase our biggest problems away? However, we all have those secrets that we don’t want to let others know or that it takes us a long time to reveal!
Claire is a PR eraser and is called in to help Stone’s company with some family laundry that is affecting their stock! The too seem to make that connection, but Is this where the Princess and the Prince are going to be thwarted by a wicked witch?
The author does a great job at putting it all out there in the beginning, so there is no actual build up, but there is another opportunity for a surprise later in the book.
For a lighthearted read in front of the fireplace or at the beach this is an excellent choice!
Thank you to the authors and publishers who work diligently for us the readers.
I received an advanced copy from NetGalley and these are my willingly given thoughts and opinions.

This book was right at the top of my favorite. I loved the push and pull. I loved the romance and I loved the strong alpha male with a sassy female to keep him in check. I would definitely recommend this book.
3.5 Standard Cinderella story with current twists. The young woman who is the Cinderella has to deal with a very ugly step sister type, holding a secret over her head, allowing her to boss her around. The task presented is cleaning up a "Situation of a very wealthy famous family's hunky son. He is handsome and has his own secrets.
The attraction between the two mirrors 50 Shades.
Modern Cinderella type story with all the characters including the wicked step sister.
Very hot read, full of drama and romance. Has elements of Fifty Shades which if you like that type of book, this would be a perfect read for you.
Though I have to say, not really a favorite read for me.
Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.
This is a nicely written story about a 'prince'_ a rich entrepreneur - and a romance with a 'poor' girl.
Claire works for a very high powered PR firm which specialises in turning disasters into 'wins'
She is the most junior member of team and works mostly behind the scenes. Which suits her very well as she has a secret-one which, if made known, could end up with her in jail. And this secret is being held over her by the daughter of the firm's owner.,
Killian, the Stone family's 'prince also has a secret. One which is not just his but the stone family's too.
These secrets affect Killian and Claire's relationship and will obviously lead into book2 of this series.
Loved reading this book! I always look out for great character development and this book catered to my needs well! The plot, characters, everything was great.
I really enjoyed this book. It was exactly what I wanted it to be. The story was good, good character development, and great sex. I was looking for a sexy book and, boy, did this one deliver. Also, it was a mild riff on Cinderella which is my favorite fairy tale. Would recommend.
What a great way to start this series I couldn't put it down once I started it! Lots of drama, humor & much needed hotness. cant wait to read the next installment of this series!
I read this book on the weekend and I very much enjoyed it .
It is well written and I couldn’t put it down.
I do recommend this one .
Book 1: This book is full of humor, romance, and sarcasm. A retelling of cinderalla but with a dirty talking prince. there were parts I loved and parts i didn;t such as the step sister. short review but great book.
I have never before read any book by Angel Payne or Victoria Blue. So I started this book with no expectations.
I expected this to be some sort of retelling of Cinderella.
It was. Sort of.
I loved the writing and the story but what I hated was a HFN ending. I didn’t know the story actually continues in the second book! I am curious how their story progresses even though I hate cliffhangers.
4.5 stars for the unexpected ending.
This story was.... charming.
see what I did there?
Claire and Killian are swoon worthy, even amongst all the angst. I love Angel Payne, and it was nice reading a book she co-authored. I'll be glad to get my hands on the next in the series.
