A total page Turner. Really liked this book. Must read. I was hooked and think I found my own prince charming. Get it now. Don't wait
Very cute book! I really enjoyed it and look forward to the rest of the series when they come available.
Claire and Killian what a duo. This was definitely worth the wait. When I heard about this book the premise sounded to good and too fun to pass up. I have been looking for it and when I came across it to read I was soooo excited. It was one of my favorite books of the last several months and that is a lot. The chemistry between the two main characters was sizzling and entertaining. Thank you for allowing me to read this and write about it.
The first book of Secrets of Stone is off to a great start. If you don’t have it on your TBR I highly suggest you add it. This was a fast pace book, full of secrets and fun take on Cinderella.
No Prince Charming definitely delivers it’s a very hot book that keeps you interested and entertained. Angel Payne and Victoria Blue worked well together and for sure doesn’t disappoint at all!
I had been itching to read this book for a few months now. And I was granted the book from Netgalley for a honest review.
I’m usually a reader that isn’t hard to please but sometimes there’s a few books that have me scratching my head. No Prince Charming did that at first. The prose was different than I expected but as I read about 30% into, I’d gotten used to it.
It’s not necessarily a bad thing, just not what I was expecting or used to in writing. The characters were fleshed out and not contrite. Though, the heroine had me gritting my teeth a few times. But Killian was a awesome hero, there’s only a few books that stand out in my mind for the hero.
This is one. If anything read this book for him. He’s definitely worth the time and effort.
I loved the remaking of Cinderella.....lots of laughs and romance. Lots of steamy scenes to keep you turning the pages. Loved the chemistry between Killian and Claire.
So this is a modern Cinderella story. Killian Stone is our prince, with not so nice brothers. Claire is our Cinderella, complete with a widow dad, an evil step mommy in waiting (engaged to Claires dad and her boss on top of it), and the evil step sister (ESS). Killian has called in Claire's future step mom to help Trey (his brother) out of a public relations nightmare. ESS has declared Killian off limits, and she has dirt on everyone so all do her bidding. Killian and Claire have an instant attraction for each other and sneak around to be together.
Claire was not my idea heroine. She was very weak. I like characters who grow and well basically get some balls. But even at the end ESS and step monster were walking over her. She needed to tell them off. Also, the back story behind Killian and his family was never really discussed to her. You had too much going on in this book. Killian and his family secrets, ESS having dirt on Claire, Claire and Killian relationship, Step mommy and Claire's dad issues... I felt it was too much. Book one did end in happily for now ending. Maybe some of the unanswered questions will be answered in book two. Let's hope.
This one had me hooked from the beginning and then I couldn’t put it down. I love Angel Payne books and was one of the reasons I got this book. It does not disappoint. I cannot wait for the sequel because this one was too good not to have one. I would recommend this to all romance readers out there who love a good story.
While I'm not usually a fan of fairy tale based romances, this one, based on Cinderella, complete with evil stepmother- and stepsister-to be, certainly kept me entertained, and it gets 3.5 stars from this reader.
The Prince Charming in this novel is Killian Stone, the youngest Stone brother, who is managing a high-profile, multi-billion dollar, global empire from his Chicago skyscraper, and managing it well. He's drop-dead gorgeous and has a commanding presence, but the thorn in his side is his wildly irresponsible, drinking and partying, older brother Trey. As the novel opens, Trey is caught, en flagrante, with the underage daughter of a U.S, Senator, who is loving the media attention and plans to see Trey in jail for messing with his daughter. That's more scandal than Killian's PR department can handle, and so he contacts the best PR firm in the business, one which built its reputation on covering-up such scandals, Asher and Associates, housed in San Diego and run by Andrea Ashe, who accompanies her team of media and data specialists, and also her daughter, Margeaux, to Chiciago, to set up shop at Stone Global for six weeks to clean up Trey's image and rectify the PR nightmare the company is now experiencing.
As soon as the team meets Killian Stone, Margeaux calls dibs on him, but he only has eyes for the data and statistics specialist on the PR team, Claire, who is also taken by Killian's looks, presence, air of authority, and innate strength. Getting involved with one of her firm's clients would mean the end of her career, and that's before we learn that Margeaux is basically blackmailing Claire by holding over her head information that not only would cost Claire her job, but, if discovered, just might mean a prison sentence. The attraction between Claire and Killian is electric, and Killian has a reputation for always getting what he wants, and what he wants is Claire.
As in the previous novels I've read by Ms. Payne, she certainly knows how to turn up the heat, and there are long, involved and very graphic scenes as the clandestine relationship between Claire and Killian becomes more than just a fantasy. While I had no problem with the adults-only sex scenes, I began to have a problem with the heroine. While she's certainly smart, snarky, and quick with comebacks to Killian's advances, once their relationship gets underway, she loses the strong backbone she has business-wise, and becomes nervous, uncertain, and dismissive of and around Killian, and it's her innocence as well as her looks that attract him. She's not virginal, nor is she trusting about relationships, her last one, three years earlier, cost Claire her self-confidence, self-esteem, and made her anything but trustworthy about her choices in men. Coupled with Claire's personal issues and self-doubt, there's also the fear that if Margeaux gets wind of Claire and Killian's affair, she'll spill the beans on Claire out of sheer spite.
Against the backdrop of trying to clean up Trey Stone's image is what was, for me, far too many long passages of inner dialogue. Since this story is told using alternating narration, the inner dialogue comes from both Claire and Killian, and it's simply too much--over-the-top angsty, overwrought, and at times, practically and oddly poetic. In short, some of it should have been whittled down by an editor. Another issue is the secret Killian is keeping, and while the reader is told his secret, he never manages to tell it to Claire, which struck me as rather odd while the two played truth or dare one night. Claire bares her guilty secret, Killian does not. Finally, there is Claire's cowing behavior as Margeaux sets her up, and then confronts her, spewing the worst sort of garbage at the most inopportune time possible. What happened to the backbone Claire showed at the beginning of this novel? Why didn't she speak up in her own defense? It just felt wrong and out of character for her. I found myself disappointed by the fact that Claire didn't slap Margeaux silly.
Finally, there's the ending, or is there? It's sort of an HEA ending, but not quite a complete one. I realize that this is the first novel in a series, but I felt that all the loose ends in this novel should have been tied up more completely than they were. I'm hoping that we'll finally see those loose ends tied in the upcoming novels in the series. All in all, this was an enjoyable and sexy read that could have been made even better by some editing and fine-tuning.
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.
I really enjoyed this book. Can’t find my amazon review. I highly recommend it and will be reading Nomore Masquerade soon. Angel you rock!!
Payne and Blue are one of the best duos I've read. You ladies have done a perfect job with book one in the Secrets of Stone series, No Prince Charming. This was a sweet retelling of Cinderella. The characters were fun and relatable. If you like Cinderella you should read this one. Great job looking forward to book two!
A sweet charming romance book that will leave you wanting more from this author. Relatable characters that makes you cheering for their happily ever after.
This was a fun quick read of a retelling of Cinderella. These characters were so fun and it was well written. Our prince charming was a dirty talking alpha male and I loved it. The perfect way to retell this fairy tale I loved as a kid. If your looking for a quick feel good read this is it. You will laugh and the banter is perfect.
I recieved this book from netgalley for an honest review.
I like that this is a modern day Cinderella story and also makes it a more relatable story than the traditional Cinderella fairy tale.
I loved Killian and Claire. I also loved how they had such banter between each other.
What a fantastic story. I don't often go through the gamut of feelings reading romance novels but this one brought out love, anger, frustration, disgust, happiness, heartbreak, intrigue, and tears to match them.
The characters have my heart.... I can't wait to read the next in the series. Killian needs an heir.....
This was a wonderful take on the story of Cinderella written incredible well by these two fantastic authors. I really enjoyed this story and the characters that were in it. I cant wait to read more in this series and more from both these authors.
This book was great, loved the chemistry and the relationship between Killian and Clair. It took me a few chapters to get into the book, but once I did I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read the next book.
Cute love story, can't wait to read the next book in the series. Recommend to everyone.
Amazing! Sexy electricity between a "clean up" public relations team member and the head of the corporation she is hired by. There are so many secrets and dangers surrounding their interaction will they risk it or will they ignore it? So many questions, so many answers, it leaves you wanting more.
No Prince Charming is a sweet, sexy, modern take on Cinderella.
Claire is the Cinderella in this tale. She's a hardworking woman who works for Asher & Associates, the PR firm her dad's girlfriend runs. When she meets her Prince Charming, aka as Killian Stone, it's unfortunate that he's just hired Asher and Associates to clean up his big brother's image, and that her wretched stepsister, Margaux, has already called dibs on him. But, it isn't Margaux whom Killian wants. No, it's beautiful Claire who captures his interest. And he pounces, in clearly hot fashion.
This modern Cinderella take is pretty amazing. Claire and Killian are so sexy together and Killian is divine. He's sweet, he's sexy and he's alpha without being OTT about it. I can't wait to read the conclusion to Killian and Claire's story now!
