Cute story about brothers trying to find love, Maggie runs into one brother, but it's another brother that ends up being for her. Cute story!

A fabulous intro to the Chase Brothers of Petal, GA. Four hot brothers what is one quiet history teacher to do. Maggie has not had the best family life with a self centered mother and sister who try to make her feel bad about herself. Kyle thinks Maggie is the best and can't wait to make her his. Lots of great drama that Dane is known for with good character development.

Sexiness and romance with a side helping of emotion. Maggie just wants to be loved. But her insecurities lead to some disasters. Dating one of the hottest men in town help, but his hot/cold attitude leaves her feeling rejected. When his brother props her up she is distrustful. Can a second chance at love be her first time with success? Will her ability to cope become stronger? Will his love finally be the tipping point for her HEA?

DNF 10%

I found the entire first couple of chapters to be very immature. It was like middle or high school with the way the characters were acting. Worried about looks, make overs, snapping at others, snapping at someone because you might like them...

Nope just couldn't do it.

Giving Chase is the first book in the Chase Brothers series by Lauren Dane. I had a couple of this author’s other books on my to read list including her Delicious series but just never got to them. So when this one came on my radar as a re-release, I decided this was the perfect way to get to know this author.

Margaret (Maggie) Wright grew up always being told she wasn’t good enough, that she wasn’t as pretty as her older sister. Her mother and sister did everything in their power to demean her. Her father remained silent. Maggie went on to college and became a high school history teacher. With pretty severe self confidence issues, which is to be expected, she keeps herself under the radar. Her two best friends have had enough and give her a make over before a blind double date.

After a couple of dates with Alex, the man she was fixed up with, Maggie sees red flags like crazy with his behavior and stops seeing him. At the same time, suddenly the Chase brothers seemed to have noticed her. She has no idea why she would even be on their radar. In her opinion, she is no where near good enough for any of them.

Now let me introduce you to the Chase Family. I am just in love with this family. Mom, Polly, and Dad, Edward have raised four very good looking, successful in their own individual ways, boys. In this book you will mostly get to know two of them, Shane, the Police Chief, and Kyle who owns a landscaping business. All the boys knew Maggie but none had gotten to know her more than just in passing. But they noticed her now. The first to ask her out is Shane. But Shane has serious commitment issues from a past heartbreak and after a couple of dates, he runs. I do want to address something here. I have read that some readers didn’t like that she dated one brother first before falling for another. But they never did more than some heated kisses. And keep in mind that Maggie is completely overwhelmed that they are even acknowledging her, let alone asking her out!

Kyle felt attracted to Maggie from the start. He can’t believe he never bothered to get to know her before. After his brother walked away from her, he waited several weeks before asking her out himself. He knew right away she was special, that she could be important to him. Maggie felt it too but it takes her a long time to actually accept that someone like Kyle could really care for her.

Once these two start dating, their feelings develop pretty fast. They certainly don’t lack in chemistry. Together they are hotter than hot. Maggie’s family, though, does their best to beat her down and cause drama. And at the same time, there is danger lurking. Something that could rip them apart and destroy their lives. Through it all, the Chase family rallies around Maggie and becomes the family she never had.

“In the last half an hour, she’d gotten more comfort and love from the Chase family than she’d had from her own over her entire life.”

I really enjoyed this book. It did take me awhile to get used to her writing style. She switched back and forth pretty fast between point of views and a couple of times I had to go back a few sentences to make sure I knew who was talking. But the book was fast moving, steamy, sweet, and suspenseful. I loved the ending. It seems like Shane gets another chance at love in the next book in the series, Taking Chase. Will he run again? I definitely won’t hesitate to read more by this author.

Giving Chase is an emotionally gripping tale full of suspense and with some interesting romantic twists that adds some spice to the story.

This story has wonderful, compelling characters that pull readers into the story with a sweet romance that is interesting and different and emotional issues that readers can relate to and understand. Kyle and Maggie have some magical and electrifying chemistry that has sparks flying in every direction and the supporting characters are just as wonderful and attention grabbing as the hero and heroine which ensures that I will definitely be getting to know all the Chase Brothers and their family and friends.

The story also brings some of the suspenseful and dangerous twists in the dating game to life with keeps readers on the edge of their seats and building suspense while the couple try to work out their happily ever after in this fast paced story.

Lauren Dane certainly has a gift for making her characters lifelike with real characteristics and issues that make it easy for the readers to feel as if they really know the characters and are part of the story and the Chase Brothers are some sexy brothers that I sure don’t mind getting to know, in fact I want to know where I can find one of my own. LOL! Oh well, since I don’t see that happening anytime soon, I will just be happily awaiting the release of the next Chase Brothers book.

I’m really enjoying these re-release ARCs as they are like going back to your hometown for a visit. You get to sit for a spell and reacquaint yourself with old friends and that’s always a fun thing to do. Giving Chase was probably the first Lauren Dane book I read long enough ago that it’s actually on my very first eReader, an old Nook. I loved the small town aspect of the story, and it had a bit of suspense to it, both things I’ve always enjoyed in my books. Once I’d read all the Chase Brothers series, I discovered her paranormal books and devoured her backlist.

I loved that Maggie actually dated one brother before falling in love with Kyle. It was handled well and never felt like a love triangle. This is mainly because when Shane screwed up, he did it in a huge way so that door was not just closed – it was sealed shut. Kyle, close to his family, wisely waited a bit before making his move. Because of this, it felt more like an interesting twist than an angst fest.

Kyle was just absolutely swoon-worthy. Once he decided he would take a shot, he set out to woo his woman in a way that would do any southern mama proud. Just like all his brothers, he’d always had it pretty easy with women. He’d never seriously dated one, and certainly never had to work for one, but he was all in when it came to Maggie. He was gentle when she needed it and extremely protective even when it meant taking on her own family. Needless to say, Maggie was one lucky woman.

Maggie had a tough upbringing with the mother and sister from hell. Because of this, she had an inferiority complex that did get on my nerves a bit. She also aired her mother issues at the drop of a hat which I found a bit odd. When she wasn’t stressing about that I liked her. She was a bit of a lost one but blossomed under Kyle’s care.

I loved Kyle’s family and some of Maggie’s friends. Each of the brothers has their own distinct personality and I even found myself liking Shane at the end despite his asshattery. The suspense aspect didn’t necessarily have me on the edge of my seat, but it had just enough action to keep things interesting.

I enjoyed this little blast from the past and am thrilled these books are being brought back to life. Yeah, I could see some dusty corners and maybe an outdated window dressing or two in this little trip down memory lane, but the story felt just as sweet, the chemistry was just as hot, and at the end, I was smiling just like the first time I read it.

I read this book and all the books in this series about Petal, Georgia, a small town where everybody knows everybody. I remember enjoying this series back then, so thought this would be a good time to re-read it as it is coming out again in 2018. I’m not sure how I feel about the book now though. I have thought about this and although I do still like some small town contemporary romances, it is not my go to genre anymore. It is a wonderful small town romance and there was a bit of intrigue so that helped to keep my interest. Overall,I loved this series originally and although not my favorite genre any more, if you like that kind of romance and have not read the series, this is a wonderful one. Lauren Dane is a great writer and I still read many of the newer books she has written. You can’t go wrong with this series or this book. Chase and Maggie are a good couple and the dialogue was enjoyable.

Great start to a series. Giving Chase brings us Kyle Chase’s story and it is well worth the read. A wonderful storyline and fabulous characters made this great Sunday read.

Such a crazy whirlwind of events. What happens when not 1 but 2 sexy brothers "notice" you? Your fun loving girlfriends tell you to go for it. But with a self conscious attitude, built solely from your Cinderella like Mother and Sister, will any type of relationship last? Then throw in a crazy stalker and things really get messed up. This is a great story of love, acceptance and getting the family that you always wanted but never knew you'd get a chance to have.

Stinking adorable. Admittedly, I will never understand the allure of dating one sibling then another, but I really enjoyed "Giving Chase". My only complaint is the overuse of the word cinnamon. I mean seriously....her freckles, her nipples, AND his nipples are all cinnamon colored? Give us some variety, haha.

DNF-stopped at 33%. The writing was juvenile, and I felt like I was reading high school characters. I like drama, but not this kind.

This is a great book by this author. I’ve never tried any books by this author before and was made up with the story I have read in this book. Had a great storyline which was easy to follow and get into. The characters are likeable and you can relate with them. And the romance in the story suit the book just right. I would recommend this book to everyone and will keep a look out for future books by this author.

***ARC received in exchange of an honest opinion***

Giving Chase is that sort of predictable feel good read you pick up when you want something fun and easy to read. There were some unpredictable aspects to it, for example the main love story, but overall it was a cliche through and through.

But that would have been okay with me. The storyline isn’t that bad. But the characters and their, well, characterization...That left a LOT to be desired. Some of the dialogues and conversations were painfull to read. Maggie and her girlfriends were so annoying together! The way they talked like some vapid schoolgirls and how stupid they acted, specially when there were men involved. I can barely deal with people like that in real life, imagine in a book!

Maggie’s mom and sister came straight out of a villains 101 directions book. They were written in such an overdramatized way, they felt unreal and unbelievable.

There was a lot of unnecessary drama in this story, but I could have been somewhat okay with that if it wasn’t for the characters. They made this book frustrating and annoying. The constant need to point out how Maggie was considered out of the hero’s league and how she was the ugly duckling, hiding behind her school teacher façade. That is too over the top and it’s been done so many times already!

Unfortunately this story didn’t catch my attention and it wasn’t enough to hook me so I’d read the rest of the series. Book 1 was enough for me.

Well written short story with great storyline and plot. A sweet romance. It is a nice read. Full of expanse and hotness. But absolutely worth the read. I like that the characters are relatable and likeable.

I love the journey towards their HEA. Great romance with a twist and very enjoyable read though.

I like the main characters and how they develop. The story flows nicely and it is very captivating from first to last chapter.

I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Giving Chase (Chase Brothers) is a very entertaining read and a great start to this series. This book takes us to Petal, Georgia and here we meet the four infamous Chase Brothers. This book focuses on the romance that grows between Kyle Chase and Maggie Wright. They have great chemistry and a hot attraction but also there is a deep sweetness to their relationship that brings it to a whole other level. A well written book that offers plenty of drama, humor and emotional intensity. The book has a good cast of supporting characters that add an incredible amount of enjoyment to the book. In particular, Polly or Mama Chase, as I like to think of her. Your emotions will be put though a wringer as you, cry, laugh, get mad and swoon as you read this sweet and steamy page turner. A wonderful read that shall grab hold of your heart and never let it go. I, myself cannot wait to return to Petal and see the next Chase Brother meet his match. I'm voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an advance copy of this book.

First, a creepy stalker. Then, she starts seeing a guy who seems great at first, but soon shows his true colors. He's a player. His brother is genuinely interested in her,but because of bro-code, doesn't pursue her. He eventually does pursue her and they end up with a happy ending. I didn't care for the whole brother thing. I was involved with him and it didn't go the distance. I didn't connect with these characters or this story as much as I need to to enjoy a book. Shane was a jerk. He pursued her, even though he knew she wasn't the type of girl he normally played with. I really wanted to throw my kindle at him. Shane could have gently let her down.He eventually apologized for his behavior and liked them together, so was good with them. I really liked Kyle and he he was with Maggie. He was sweet. The other brothers were cute as well with how they were with her. I liked the Chase family. I was glad she finally stood up for herself with the family and the woman. This was just an okay read for me.

This was an interesting premise with high school teacher Maggie Wright getting gussied up and attracting the attention of not one, but two men in town. One is a crazy stalker and the other is the brother of her hero. So that's new and interesting. She actually dates two people before getting together with the hero, Kyle. I liked that. She hadn't been out much, having been told by her mother and sister that beauty beat brains and therefore Maggie was worthless. But now, with cutie pie Alex interested and sheriff Shane Chase asking her out, Maggie's reveling in her new makeover.

Kyle Chase was interested in Maggie but she's off limits since his brother Shane asked her first. But Shane messes up, big time and leaves Kyle with an opening. One he's only too willing to walk into. Even though Maggie's gunshy after having been burned by Shane, Kyle convinces her that he's serious about wanting to be with her. Now they just have to work through Alex.

I didn't love the pacing or the writing but I kept with it and mostly enjoyed this story. I really wanted to read the second book since I was interested to see how Dane could transform him.

I really enjoyed this easy to read romance, it had a bit of drama thrown in making for an entertaining read.
Maggie and Kyle had sizzling chemistry and I was pleased they got together. Her family were crazy and his....well what wonderful in-laws they'll make. The background story with her ex, well not really an ex after only a few dates kept me glued to my kindle.
Great story, I loved it.
