Suzanna does not do well in the relationship department. After her fiance leaving her at the altar, and now her latest beau left town, she is now resigned to being a spinster. Former Ranger Jake, a newcomer to Marietta, does not know how long he will be in town. He has been offered a partnership but has yet to sign the papers. When Jake's dog, Rufus, takes advantage of Suzanna's front-yard sign, their chance meeting leads to more. A kiss under the mistletoe is beginning. I just cannot resist a story with a military man involved. Really enjoyed this one!
Admittedly, it's been a while since I've read this story. I just realized I didn't leave a review. Thus, this is going to be really short, and based on what I can remember.
I love Christmas romances and this was a good one. A Mistletoe Kiss by Jennifer Faye is a fun story about a fake relationship that becomes real. This is a story about learning to trust not only your heart but yourself.
Suzanna’s family is returning to Marietta for the Christmas holiday and she is worried they will feel sorry for her with her lack of a boyfriend. Then she meets the new guy who moves in next door, Jake, he has a very big dog she is afraid of but they get along great.
Somehow the two of them decide he will act as her boyfriend just through the holiday, and oh how I love this kind of pretend romance that suddenly has heat.
This is a fun read I really enjoyed, and if you enjoy Christmas holiday stories with a couple of pets tossed in for fun, then this one is for you.
A Misteltoe Kiss is such a sweet and clean romance. I give it 4 1/2 stars and recommend it.
Loved this romance. A Mistletoe KISS is well written with a great storyline and characters. I enjoyed this author’s writing and anticipate reading more of her books.
A Mistletoe Kiss by Jennifer Faye was one of those books that was just such a sweet, delightful, little read, that left you feeling nice and happy. it was well written with a nice setting and characters that was well thought out. And through in a mistletoe kiss and you have yourself a lovely Holiday story.
Welcome back to the small town of Marietta. This is one of Jennifer Faye's best books in this series. I really liked the charade story line. Suzanne Simms and Jake Hamilton are neighbors. They end up pretending they are a couple in front of her family at Christmas because Suzanne does not want her family to feel sorry for her. She has not had a very good track record with guys. The kiss under the mistletoe at her parent's house leads to unwanted feelings for both of them and that is when the fun begins. I received and advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
I enjoyed this romance story taking place in Marietta, Montana, where everyone was friendly and knew everyone elses business. Suzanna, who had been jilted at the altar, as well as the latest boyfriend left town without so much as a goodbye. Jake, who just moved in as her neighbor, is working for Cory, as a contractor. Being neighbors, they get to know each other and when Suzanna's family decided to surprise her and come home for Christmas, Jake tries to help her by being a pretend boyfriend to save her from the pity of her family at once again being alone. Of course, the pretending started becoming real as well as their feelings for each other. A delight to read.
Loved this book!! It will have you laughing out loud with Rufus and Pixie. Suzanna has been jilted twice in relationships, so she is going to be man free this holiday season until her new neighbor moves in. Jake, does not have the best memories of Christmas growing up, so he just doen't do Christmas. Things will change when they decide to have a fake relationship when Suzanna's family comes to town.
This is a quick sweet Christmas romance that proves why I love Marietta so much. I am hoping for some more stories from this family and friends!
Jennifer Faye is an author I’ve read and enjoyed in the past, so I was looking forward to A Mistletoe Kiss. While not a complete winner for me, it is a feel good holiday romance, so it’s a perfect title to cuddle up with during the frigid temps we have been experiencing.
Suzanna has decided to have a low-key Christmas. She’s recently broken up with her boyfriend, and she’s just not in the mood for joyous festivities. When she meets her handsome new neighbor, and his big, scary-to-her dog, Suzanna is surprised to feel a tingle of attraction for Jake. After being left at the altar two years ago, and after her recent break-up, she’s given up on finding Mr. Right. When her parents unexpectedly arrive in town, Jake surprises both of them by pretending to be her boyfriend. Can she keep her feelings out of this fake relationship?
I had two major issues with this romance, and I admit, they are strictly my issues. The first is Suzanna’s fear of Jake’s emotional support dog, Rufus. I totally understand being afraid of dogs, especially if you had a bad experience with them, and Rufus is a huge dufus, so I’ll cut Suzanna a little bit of slack there. But if you are going to have a relationship with a guy who needs his emotional support dog, you can’t constantly force him to leave the pup at home. I felt bad for poor Rufus. Suzanna misjudged him from the beginning, and it took until the end of the story for her finally give him a chance. He didn’t even do anything bad at their first meeting, just used a sign that she didn’t even like for a scent marker.
The other issue was the need for the charade in the first place. Suzanna has had two boyfriends, and because of the failed relationships, she is the town’s romantic failure. The guy who left her at the altar is a jerk, so she dodged a bullet there, and the other guy just packed up and left town to pursue a job opportunity, so they were obviously not on the same wave-length there, either. All the better for Jake to zoom in and sweep Suzanna off her feet.
Jake caused a few more headaches for himself than necessary, too. Instead of just seeing where things went with Suzanna, he has already made up his mind that he isn’t the kind of guy to settle down. Abandoned by his mother and raised by his emotionally distant grandparents, he doesn’t do Christmas either. He’s also suffering from PTSD after a mission ended badly overseas, and his military career came to a pre-mature end.
I would define a lot of the interactions between Jake and Suzanna as awkward. Neither of them really knows how to act, so their encounters at first are painfully clumsy. I despaired at them ever finding common ground, and then, suddenly, they found their footing. At least until Jake got cold feet and thought it was time to move on again.
It did take some patience to get behind the romance, but in the end, both Suzanna and Jake left their fears and worries behind and realized it was worth it to invest in each other. This is a quick, light read with a very satisfying conclusion.
Grade: 3.25 stars
What a delightful holiday read! The characters are strong and determined, both have been hurt in the past. The story line moves quickly and I could not put this book down as Jake and Suzanna journey toward happily ever after. Great story! A must read.
A sweet Christmas romance in where else but Marietta, Montana...the Christmas capital of Tule Publishing. The author has constructed the perfect couple in Jake and Suzanna...they have instant chemistry, are drawn to each other and fill a need in each other that is unexpected, but has pleasant results. You're easily swept away in their romance and the Christmas season in Marietta.
This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
Book two in the Tangled Charms series, A Mistletoe Kiss is a truly sweet small town contemporary romance. Set in beautiful Marietta Montana, this story works as a stand-alone or as a part of the series.
Jennifer Faye has created some lovely, caring characters in this book. Jake has always been a loner but he’ll do anything to protect those he cares about, as he demonstrates when he steps up to help Susannah weather an unexpected Christmas with her family. Susannah is very much a family person - she loves them to bits even if she wishes they’d stop prying into her love life. These two work together really well and are a perfect example of good friends falling in love.
As a Christmas novella, this story is ideal - not too heavy or angsty, yet with enough emotion to satisfy. It is well paced and kept me interested throughout. I liked the way the characters developed as their story unfolded and I’ll be looking out to see if there’s a book three in this series.
Jennifer Faye’s A Mistletoe Kiss is a sweet, charming Christmas romance story. Besides having two very likable main characters, it has a rumbustious St. Bernard and a small timid cat in it too. These two pets emphasize the differences between Jake and Suzanna. Still their core values are the same, so love finds them despite their charade. All is well that ends well, this is an enjoyable read to getting there.
Enjoyed reading of the karma that falls to one from Suzanne’s past as well as learning a little more concerning the town busybody, Carol Bingley. I don’t know if I pity that woman or just loath her, but at least she did no harm in this story. Besides she was half right about Jillian’s (Sprinkled with Love) baby. Still she is my favorite Marietta character to boo.
A Mistletoe Kiss by Jennifer Faye is a lovely story that catches this reader’s interest and holds it throughout the entire novella. It is hard for me to choose who I liked best, Jake and Suzanne or their pets. All were enchanting, being good-hearted characters even if the females could be timid at times.
The story flows with the pretend boyfriend trope. Of course, this never works out as planned. However, the realism of how Christmas activities can be great or fall into disaster is part of the honest lure of this story. I enjoyed seeing Jillian in this book too, especially as a baby is due now. This is a sweet, fun read, perfect for relaxing after a busy day.
A Mistletoe Kiss is the second book in the Tangled Charms series. I recommend reading the first book in the series to appreciate all the characters and the Tangled Charms store. I love the characters and the town of Marietta, Montana. Suzanna and Jake are not looking for romance, but find it hard to resist each other when they are neighbors. Jennifer Faye does an excellent job of adding in a cute kitty and dog to the storyline.
This was a fun holiday read. The characters were likable and the town was one you want to settle down in. it would be a perfect Hallmark channel movie!
A very enjoyable read!! It's got a touch of humor, some really amazing characters and a fun storyline in this quick read. Perfect for a relaxing afternoon read.
After her last breakup, Suzanna Simms has decided to focus on her business and take a break from men. One little problem. She forgot to tell her family. So when they mistakenly assume Jake, Suzanne's hot new neighbor, for her serious boyfriend they let the ruse play out rather than correct them. Everything's going fine until the ruse begins to feel real!
Definitely a boo I recommend.
This was a sweet book. I liked all the characters and the flow was right on. Glad I read it for my Christmas break.
Suzanna and Jake's romance set in Marietta, Montana. As typical here, both have issues to overcome and solve before the HEA. Overall, I enjoyed it, as I have many set in this little mountain town, but not my favorite. Felt it could have been a bit more in depth on the issues, and I wish there would have been more with the dog Rufus and the cat Pixie. Still, even with my minor problems with the story, I enjoyed it and wanted to see the HEA. Would still highly recommend.
