Love on the Forbidden Side is a well written romance/suspense. Great plot and characters.. I enjoyed the author’s writing. I have not read other books in the series but will be looking at them.
Love on the Forbidden Side in an interesting blend of romance and suspense. Julie and Liam are a good pair. I liked how the author was able to keep my interest with the suspense elements. Solid writing.
Cute quick read, nothing really new here, FBI guy defends best friends sister who is a lawyer from escaped convict. He also happens to be her brothers best friend and has loved her for years but didn’t want to break the bro-code. I just didn’t understand how after everything else she had gone through how the bro-code became a non issue and they were so loved up! It was a good read just not really that exciting.
I received an ARC from Netgalley. I love a good protector romance and Liam And Julie’s story is one that won’t disappoint. Liam an FBI agent and Julie an ADA are two characters that not only make you hope for a love match but have lives that leave you on the edge of your seat.
The threat coming to Peak town is one Julie tries to hide from Liam trying to prove she can handle things on her own however when they handle the threat together is when sparks really fly. This book was a great read.
Liam and Julie had good chemistry and I like the brother's best friend romance trope so I enjoyed this read. I liked our H and h but felt they could have been developed more. Maybe some flashbacks to when he spent time with her when she was previously injured would have added some depth to their romance. I also felt the villain was a caricature and not well-developed. Despite those drawbacks, I still enjoyed the story and it was well-written, so this was a read I'd recommend.
Love on the Forbidden Side is nicely paced, filled with lots of tension and is a great love story. Julie decides to stay at her brother's home (what used to be their family home), she's surprised to see her brother's longtime best friend, Liam, there, too. But, now that she's seen him, she's determined to get him into her bed, as she's wanted forever. But, Liam, although he's wanted her forever, too, knows not only is she off-limits, but that she's far too good for him. So, he's just as determined to keep his distance from his best friend's little, beautiful, sister.
I like how organically their relationship changed and evolved, and how thick the tension was, even after they gave into their obvious attraction to each other. I also like how the suspenseful element rode along in the background, never taking over, but never forgotten, either, or fading into the ether the way it sometimes happens in so called romantic suspense. Brother's best friend is one of my favorite tropes, and it's done so well here that I couldn't help but fall a little for this story. Julie and Liam are a great couple, have lots of chemistry, and their story has made me a fan of this series and this author. Can't wait for more!
I received a copy of Love on the Forbidden Side by Mariah Ankenman from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I was intrigued by the summary and really wanted to like this novel, but the storyline could have been pulled together better and the characters developed better.
