I loved this book! Thank you for the ARC. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize that I wasn’t leaving reviews on netgalley and was solely sharing on Instagram. My apologies. Huge fan of this author! I actually received the tangible copy. Trying to clean up my netgally account.

Dexter is one of my favorite shows so if you tell me a book has Dexter vibes I'm automatically sold on it. This was a good read and it's also a debut. I would read more from this author to see if his books get even better. The concept was great. I'm not a huge fan of books that focus on cop/detective stories, unless you make it have Dexter vibes and then I'll pick it up. It's dark, it's twisted, and it has good plot progression. I also enjoyed how the author left the ending open to where the reader can decide or the story can continue.

Find You in the Dark is a decent thriller. Martin Reese digs up bodies of serial killer victims by buying stolen police files. He taunts the police, trying to ger them to do their job. Problem is one body he dug up may cause him some serious issues. Someone is not happy that he has dug them up. What will they do to Martin when they find him? Hoe far will Martin go to protect his family?

This was such an interesting concept for a story. I really enjoyed this book!

If you are an author or publisher seeking a review/blurb from me, please note I only provide those on the books I thoroughly enjoy and read cover-to-cover. If I don't give you one (as is the case here), it doesn't mean there was a problem with the book, it simply means the book wasn't for me or it may not resonate with my fan-base. I will, however, give you five-stars because I know EXACTLY how much work went into getting this particular title here and I'm not about to drag down your overall score just because it didn't hit for me. I wish you nothing but the best.

I would like to thank NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book even though I did not finish this book.

The right amount of twists and creepy factors ~ trudging off secretly by yourself looking for the remains of victims left by serial killers. Martin Reese does this because of his past, his sister. No closure, no true evidence. It was a bit lacking in build up and suspense. I do applaud the originality of the premise though.

A well crafted and suspenseful thriller. Moves a little slow at times, but manages to easily keep the reader interested and invested in the story and characters.

Martin Reese is a likable lead character and his perspective is a very unique one. It isn't your run-of-the-mill detective thriller, but the procedural aspects are there at times.

I will definitely be checking out more from Nathan Ripley.

I was attracted to the whole grave digger synopsis of this and found the the plot to be original and captivating. At times I found it difficult to keep some of the characters straight but the ending was solid.

Many thanks to Netgalley, Text Publishing and Nathan Ripley for my complimentary e-copy ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

I thought the premise was interesting and one I would like. Well it was different but a little too creepy for this dark and twisted mind and it just didn't work for me

The plot seemed intriguing enough for me to request Find you in the Dark by Nathan Ripley.

It took me a while to get into this book and it was a slow process, no big twists as far as I could tell, so sadly this fell flat for me.

Will see if there are other books by this author.

I received this ebook copy from the publisher and NetGalley for an honest review.

This book had such an interesting plot and I was intrigued. Unfortunately it lacked the thrill and twists that I was expecting. Other than Martin, I felt the other characters kind of fell flat and you really didn't get to know them.

**twisted is only one way to describe this. But that can be a good thing! The idea of the plot is still interesting to me...I love the twists, turns, and something completely outside of the box. While you may get invested in the characters...there isn't much to like about them and the story moves kind of slow waiting for that climax ...

Looked back on this title in our library collection and we cannot keep it on the shelf. I'm glad to be proven wrong! Will purchase more from this author in the future.

I'm not really sure what all to say about this book. I was really expecting to like it and I honestly really wanted to like it, but something just didn't work for me. It took me a while to get interested in the story and I just really didn't like the main character. He seemed closed off and I just couldn't bring myself to care about what he was doing at all.

I think this story had a lot of potential, but unfortunately it fell flat for me. It was compared to Dexter and Caroline Kepnes' Hidden Bodies, so if either of those were of interest to you then maybe give this novel a try! Just because it didn't work for me doesn't mean it won't be a hit for you!

Find You In The Dark by Nathan Ripley Book Review
Serial killers, unsolved crimes & vigilante justice (kind of). Mix that with a foggy backdrop, add in a crooked cop, a detective with something to prove & a suspicious daughter & you've got yourself a solid thriller with Nathan Ripley's Find You In The Dark.

A Creepy Audiobook is a Win for Me
I chose the audio version of Find You In The Dark & listened to it during Halloween week. Let me tell you, there are some super creepy parts. As I'm driving, I realize I'm leaning forward & gripping the steering wheel a bit more tightly. I live in Portland, so the fact it takes place in the PNW makes it all the more spooky to me.

Sometimes I have a difficult time following a fiction based audiobook. Luckily, Find You In The Dark is easy to follow, the narrator is great & I'm happy I chose that route.

Slow Burn with Some Twists & Turns
Nathan Ripley knows how to build the tension. There's this pressure right underneath the surface. Some may view what Martin does as admirable, but he's still digging up bones. Then we learn some sketchy stuff in his past. As things begin to turn South, Martin has to move forward.  In doing so, he risks losing everything that matters to him.

The ending gets a little...all over the place & not as believable to me, but I still really enjoy how we get there. Does that make sense? Basically, I didn't love the ending, but it didn't ruin the story for me.

While I thoroughly enjoyed Find You In The Dark, I'm anxious to see what Nathan Ripley does next. His writing style is fluid, characters are believable yet flawed & he creates a memorable thriller.

THE VERDICT
I am Into This book! There are times it gave me some Jar of Hearts vibes, which in my book is a GREAT thing! If you're Really Into anything serial killer and/or enjoy a true crime element, you'll likely enjoy Find You In The Dark.

Special thanks to Nathan Ripley, Atria Books & NetGalley for providing our copy in exchange for an honest & fair review.

**4.5-stars rounded up**

Dark and twisted, this book had me glued to the pages from start to finish. I flew through it. Almost as soon as I started reading I was sucked in. Find You in the Dark mainly follows Martin Reese, a retired tech guru with an amazingly odd hobby. He was a really unique character. Not super likable in the mainstream sense, he is definitely morally grey, but personally, I like that. I got major Tony Stark vibes from this guy without the iron super-suit. Super smart, wealthy, cunning, dry and harboring a lot of secrets.

We also get the perspective of Detective Sandra Whittal. I loved Sandra, she was my favorite character. She's on to Reese and his extracurricular activities and she's pretty much the only one. Dogged in her investigation, Detective Whittal refuses to back down, even when reprimanded by her higher-ups. Along with her sexy partner, who she may or may not be intimately involved with - you'll have to read to find out - she commences a wonderfully plotted cat-and-mouse game with Reese.

Okay, we have a cat, we have a mouse, then a dog gets thrown in too just to make the game a little more interesting. That's right, we get to climb into the mind of a serial killer. It's dark and I loved every second of it. There were twists and turns in this I did not see coming. In a few places I was absolutely floored. I thought the plot progression was wonderful and the characters fleshed out, messy and complicated though they were. As you can tell, I had a heck of a lot of fun with this one. I hope there is a continuation to this book. It left off in a place that could stay here and let the reader decide the rest or could be progressed further. I would love to see Sandra and Martin meet again for a rematch!

A big thank you to the publisher, Atria Books, for providing me with a copy to read and review. I truly appreciate the opportunity and really look forward to reading more from this author in the future!

I am excited to read more from Ripley.

Although this story did not blow me out of the water - I think that he has potential to write a great story.

I was on board with this story about halfway through - the premise intrigued me, and I was enjoying the plot progression. But, unfortunately, as I find with so many thrillers, the characters lacked any sort of depth, and I just could not connect with their storylines on an emotional level (which for me personally, is important when I read).

I think that this was just a very typical thriller. It was really fun to read in the moment, the writing was fine, etc. But, it won't be one that I remember to hand out to my friends when they ask for a thrilling recommendation. I think that people who just enjoy a classic thriller, who aren't looking for something super original, will enjoy this just fine. I can see a lot of people liking this one. It just wasn't for me.

*Thank you Netgalley and Atria Books for sending me a copy to review in exchange for my honest opinion*

The synopsis had me really excited to read this one, but it wound up being too much of a slow burn for me with an ending that seemed much too tidy for the complex and thrilling story I just read. It was a little long and seemed to drag at times but overall wasn't bad. 3.5 stars.

When I read the description for this one, I wanted to read it. It seemed original and dark. What I did not expect was it would also be the best of it – the blurb. I wanted to enjoy this one, way more than I ended up enjoying.

So what was wrong with it? For me, a story needs characters you care about. I didn’t care about anyone in this book. The MC is downright odd and completely unlikable. Nothing wrong with that, so long as there’s someone else you can root for. But, there isn’t. Sandra Whittal certainly engenders no good feelings. She alternates between being an annoying character and just being an unbelievable one. I won’t spoil anything, but let’s just say she rarely acts like a detective.

I don’t know, lots of people like it, but for me it just didn’t work.

2.5 stars
