Once again former Marine Matthew Betley brings an unstoppable, gut wrenching adventure. The amazing, courageous Logan West and John Quick are faced with unspeakable treasonous events reaching all the way to the seat of power in our nation's capital. And the ending?.....well, you will have to read that for yourself

This is already the third book in the Logan West series, and unfortunately I haven't read the previous books in the series. I will certainly rectify that soon. Logan and his team has to beat super spies at their own team.... can someone queue the theme song of Mission Impossible please? That's just how good this book was !
Highly recommended.

While Matthew Betley’s debut, Overwatch, dealt with a man bent on revenge against America, the follow-up, Oath of Honor, expanded the threat to a global level. Now, in FIELD OF VALOR, the president of the United States wants Logan West to form a covert task force with the mission of dismantling a nameless enemy. With the full resources of the Justice Department, the intelligence community, and the military—not to mention presidential pardons pre-signed—Logan must battle a secret organization with the connections and funding to rival many first-world nations.

A breakneck thriller, with a strong pace and cinematic actions scenes. A very enjoyable novel, with the actor showing insider knowledge of this world.

Love the series. Love the characters. And, while I enjoyed Field of Valor, the touchy, feely, introspective handling of the Logan West character left me a bit put off. I have no problem with a bit of warranted introspection or the closeness that develops between team members constantly in life and death situations, but it was just too much in this case. Still, a good read, and I cannot wait to find out what happens next.

Field Of Valor is the third book in the action packed Logan West series. I found this to be the best book in the series and it is highly enjoyable. The characters and the writing have gotten stronger as the series has progressed, and that is saying something because the series has been solid from the get go. I would highly recommend starting this series or continuing the series if you've read the first two. What I especially liked about this book is how each character was developed and their strengths are allowed to shine. It centers around Logan West, but there are other characters that help this series be so enjoyable. In fact, I would be interested in reading some spinoff series if Matthew Betley was interested in doing such a thing. Overall, I really enjoyed Field Of Valor.

This is a fast paced book that takes off from page one. Logan West and his group are facing a threat against society from a group called the Organization. They are ruthless but no match for the protagonist. There is a lot of violence and quick moving action. It is well written and I love this author. I will read more of his work in the future.

I have been given an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Another winner! Author does a beautiful job of developing the plot, and characters. His action scenes are fantastic, and there is action from page 1 to the end of the book. I have read all his books, and I will look forward to the next one.

Matthew Betley exploded onto the scene with Overwatch which introduced the world to Logan West. In Oath of Honor, West and his team reached new heights and now in Field of Valor Betley has proven that he has what it takes to stand alongside all the greats in the field and his character Logan West can stand shoulder to shoulder with Jack Reacher and Mitch Rapp. Lock those three in a room and I wouldn’t care to wager which one walks out.

In Field of Valor West is leading a covert task force sanctioned by the President to take down a group whose aim is to pit China and the US against each other, leading to a world and a government that is shaped more to their liking. Once again, the action leaps off the page, literally from the opening words. Betley writes high-octane action as well as anyone and the wise-cracking pair of Logan West and John Quick are a blast to watch. Cole and Amira, the other two members of the team, first introduced in the previous book are back for more action as well.

Betley has a knack for quickly sketching out characters that make them instantly relatable. He did it in the previous book when introducing Cole and Amira and he does it here as well with Special Agent Austin Chang of the Secret Service. In just a few pages, he lets you get to know Chang and then drops him in the middle of an intense firefight. Not only are you invested in the action, you are invested in Chang and whether or not he will make it out in one piece. This kind of attention to what in other hands might be a throwaway character is one of the things that sets Betley apart.

West and his team follow clues that take them from a Space Center in Virginia to a private residence/fortress on the Chesapeake Bay and into the heart of his own government. Throw in some flashbacks to West and Quick’s time in Iraq where they are first introduced to some of the other characters that pop up and you have the stage set for some jaw-dropping action sequences. Betley can write a scene that will leave you gasping for air and convinced you can smell the gunsmoke in the air. Logan West is a larger-than-life figure who draws both fear and admiration. “The man fell to the earth, looking up at the looming figure of Logan West descending toward him like a mythological god of death and destruction.” That is Logan West in a nutshell.

This is a fantastic series and Field of Valor will rank as one of the best thrillers of the year. If you haven’t picked up these books yet, do it now. Highly recommended.

I was fortunate to receive a copy of this book from the publisher.

Bentley is new to me but he is , in my opinion, the best of the new breed of spythriller/ military adventure/ action writers working today. The book is authentic, well written and never drags. Highly Recommended

What an amazing story. The Author has done a wonderful job in the detail and background of the characters, and Logan West is the ultimate fighting machine. There are plenty of action scenes, and I quite enjoyed the plot. It just never lets up, which is one of the things I love about Matthew Betley’s books. He certainly knows how to entertain.
Lau Han wanted revenge for his son’s death, more than anything else in the world, and he was sure Logan West was the man responsible. Logan spent years overseas in the military, and he normally knew who is enemy was. Now the President has given him the mammoth task of finding a different enemy, and they are going to be a lot harder to find and defeat. Luckily Logan has an incredible team of amazing operators, that are very deadly in their own right. However, Logan is scared of losing one of them, as he is still haunted by the death of his friend Mike Benson. Logan manages to get his hands on the list that has every member’s name on it, belonging to the rouge group that they are hunting down. He’s just got to work out who he can trust, and stay alive at the same time. A very good story from start to finish. If you enjoy Action Thrillers then you will love this book.

Fans of the emerging thriller hero Logan West are in for another treat from author Matthew Betley.

Field of Valor picks up on the heels of Oath of Honor, the second book in the Logan West series. From the opening pages I was hooked. Without giving anything away, the opening scene is emotionally powerful and packed with the high intensity, fast paced action/drama that fans of the series and the genre love and look forward to.

Betley utilizes time as a character/feature in this novel, which I thought he did exceptionally well. In general the story takes place in four days, just 72 hours, which adds to the intensity. Flashbacks are incorporated to flesh out some more character history and backstory which really will help readers who pick this up without reading the first two installments to enjoy the characters and follow the story.

The cast of Logan West and his crew, the ARES taskforce, as well as supporting characters are great. West is a retired Marine (you can take the man out of the Corps but you can't take the Corps out of the man) now officially operating under the umbrella of the FBI, with a single, direct reporting line to POTUS, and all of the resources associated with that kind of reporting structure, right down to pre-signed Presidential pardons. Betley, himself a retired Marine, gives a strong voice of authenticity to the characters and plotlines. In addition to being hard core, save the world type hero associated with this genre, the characters also have a fantastically entertaining humor to them. Humor cut from the battlefield, used as a mechanism to keep some humanity in the face of the atrocities of the world. The heros are also human, recognizing their mortality, the fragile nature of life, and the luck that supports them. In short, they are easy to like. They are rapidly morphing into "friends" that you look forward to hanging out with.

Betley and Logan West are still relatively new to the genre, but are rapidly gaining the staying power that will help to ensure the quality of work remains high. He is definitely on the way to becoming a household name like Flynn, Thor, Silva, Mills, and Clancy.

I give this a stout 4.5 - 5 rating. I loved it, and look forward to re-reading in the future. Existing fans and new readers alike will want to watch out for this in May, 2018!

I was extremely excited to have received an advance copy of this book from #Netgalley and the great folks at Atria/Emily Bestler Books. The thoughts and opinions are mine and provided in exchange for the eBook.

This is my first introduction to the work of Matthew Betley and wow what an introduction. The action starts on page one and is relentless as we are thrown right into the drivers seat as our two heroes are fleeing for their life and have rogue agents on their tails. The story then back tracks a few days to see how we ended up here. I’m told that this continues on from his previous book (which I’ll be seeking out) but it also works as a stand alone story. For those people (like me) who are unaware of Logan West then you are in for a treat. He’s in charge of the Ares programme run by the President and is as relentless and unstoppable as The Terminator. An excellent book laced with action, violence and stunning set pieces. Highly recommended.
