A story of self-discovery, romance, and knowledge! This is one of the books that will probably go unnoticed unless more people know about it! Through Drea's POV we learn her inner thoughts, her lack of self-confidence and her everyday life, before and after the "incident".

Drea gains the ability to have ALL the knowledge in her mind, like an encyclopedia! This is an interesting factor for a YA and mostly I liked her relationship with her father and her friendship-turned love with Dylan.

I do have to mention that this book also has quite a surprising cliffhanger! I didn't expect my reading pile of Januray to have so many cliffhangers!

Drea Smith has always been a bit weird, but in a completely normal way. She's a clutz, she doesn't have many friends, and she lives her life behind her camera lens. When her and her father are hit by a drunk driver, her father is killed and Drea is badly injured. Everything gets even stranger when she gets out of the hospital. Suddenly, she's super strong, super fast and is able to speak any language fluently. To make matters worse, she's having visions of another world: Eugenica.

I was so intrigued by the summary of this book and the tag line: Two dimensions and the girl who connects them. I've always loved multiple dimensions and Sci-Fi in general.  I was interested to see if this was a time-travel sort of story or more like a portal fantasy. A.M. Rose goes beyond expectations here and creates a completely new kind of Science Fiction story.

The characters in this story were all well developed and work well in this complex plot. Drea is interesting, intelligent and curious. I enjoyed watching her explore her new abilities and struggle with figuring out her feelings for her long-time friend, Dylan, and the strange new boy at school, Maddox. There is so much mystery and curiosity surrounding every character, even Drea's absent and workaholic mother, that I found myself invested and interested in everyone in Drea's life. One of the reoccurring themes of the story is "Don't Trust Anyone" and as a reader, it's easy to get drawn into the paranoia. I found myself questioning everyone and everything that happened, being just as scared and skittish as Drea herself.

A.M. Rose is a master of tension. There were so many scenes that could have been melodramatic or even boring, like Drea coming home to an empty house after a disturbing experience at a lacrosse game. Instead of trying to flip through to the action, like I've found myself doing in other books before, I was holding my breath and digging my nails into husband's arm, just like I would in a horror movie. I was very impressed by the author's ability to draw out the terror Drea felt in this scene and pass that fear onto her reader.

The plot of this story is so complex. There is a coming of age story, a love triangle, family drama and the science fiction element. It's a lot going on, but the author does a good job of melding everything together. As we progress through the novel, we get more and more questions. And while the plot twists were surprising and excited, we don't really get any answers to these many questions until the last 5% of the novel. Even with those answers, we're left with more questions than before. Since this is the first book in a series, there's still so many questions at the end of the book that it's hard to feel satisfied with the ending.

Road to Eugenica is a complex and compelling first book in A.M. Rose's science-fiction series. The characters, Drea our main character and narrator included, are mysterious and well-rounded. The story has many elements that mesh and meld together well, but don't expect to have a full, complete ending. We'll have to wait for the next book in the series to get all our questions answered.

I have mixed feelings about the Road to Eugenica. It was so outside the box and not what I expected. I was hooked on every page because I wanted to find out what was happening, but also a little scared to keep reading.

Alexandrea seems like an ordinary girl. She's in love with her best friend and trying her best to tackle high school. The day a new boy, Maddox starts school everything starts to get a little strange. She can suddenly understand and speak foreign languages. She isn't struggling with her education and she seems to know things she hasn't learnt. Dylan, her best friend has always been a big part of her life, but the new boy has caught her eye. Alexandrea's life is about to get crazy and not in a good way. Her happy bubble is about to be popped and there is no going back. Nothing is what it seems. No one can be trusted. She wants answers, but her life may be in danger.

Road to Eugenica is a suspense mystery like no other. Two dimensions and one link. It's strange and interesting. It's like nothing else I've read.
*There will be a sequel to this book and the next book will make or break this story.

3.5 stars out of 5. This book had me wanting more all the way through, but I'm not sure I liked the consequences.

*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

As an adult reading YA I just couldn't get into this book. It was way too young. Drea acted way too young. She's supposed,to be at the end of her junior year, in other words college is only a year away, but she acts like she has no,idea how to take care of herself. And the interior monologue drove me crazy; she would stop and tell her self to focus, or that she could do it, in the middle of urgent situations. And her naivety about people was astounding. Beyond that every plot twist was telegraphed far in advance so there were no surprises. While the basic idea of the book is interesting, unfortunately I will not continue reading this series.

Road to Eugencia by A.M. Rose is an intriguing YA science fiction/fantasy tale. A young teen has her entire life flipped upside down and inside out...it's torn apart. First, she comes down sick, then, there's a car crash and her dad doesn't make it. Her mom is not who she thought she was. And then, there's two guys. One of them is her best friend forever, Dylan. He's crazy about Drea. Dylan wants to keep her safe. Next is Maddox. He too, wants to keep her safe.

Road to Eugencia is full of action, suspense, and danger. The attraction Drea feels towards Dylan feels real. After going through all the hell, Drea has to figure out whose after her and why. Staying safe, will be difficult. But with Dylan, Drea feels safe.

The shadowing from the end of this novel, has me wondering everything I thought I knew about Drea's situation and her best friend, Dylan. I can't wait to read the next book! Overall, I highly recommend it to readers everywhere.

"Road to Eugenica" is an intriguing YA fantasy. Alexandrea (Drea) Smith has always been pretty typical teenager- until her life begins turning upside down after a car accident. Not only is her father dead, but she is suddenly a superstar in school, has a bunch of new skills, and has a photographic memory. She has long been afraid of the 'green-eyed man' who haunts her dreams- and now she thinks she might be seeing him in the real world also. To make things more complicated, Drea is in love with her BFF Dylan who has her firmly in the friend-zone- and now there's a hot new classmate, Maddox, who seems to be interested in Drea.

While trying to figure out all the mysteries about herself she doesn't know and navigating this new romantic/friend field, Drea is also coping with the loss of her father and her distant mother. This book is like an origin story for Drea, as we spend the vast majority of the book determining which new skills Drea has and getting small tidbits about who she is and why she has these skills. By the end of the book, I still feel like I was left with a whole ton of questions, and so I am very eager to read the next book in this series.

I thought we would explore Eugenica some more (considering it's in the title), but we don't really learn anything about it until more than halfway through this book- thus, this really felt like an origin story/prequel to me. Regardless, I found it to be an enjoyable read, and I was completely invested in Drea and her life. I am really curious to see where this series will go, as it has a lot of potential. I found the beginning to be a bit slow, but the second half of the book picks the up the pace getting faster until the end, which gives you a bit of a cliffhanger. Some things (including the ending) were a little more predictable than I wish they were, but I still enjoyed this story which has a lot of sci-fi potential!

Please note that I received an ARC from the publisher through netgalley. All opinions are my own.
