This book was a nice read. I enjoyed the storyline and showing how people should help each other. Ada and Josiah both have difficulty getting past losses. Ada has lost her parents and Josiah has lost his wife. Both are starting new chapters in their lives when they meet at the school Ada is teaching special needs children. Ada has her brothers and sisters to raise and Josiah is raising a son who is fearful of him and is deaf. Their worlds join together as they try to help his son. Ada's siblings are also trying to adjust to her being their parent. Both are very attached to all the children and want the best for them They are both attracted to each other but, circumstances don't allow them to court. Things get a little messy before they get better. Enjoy reading this sweet book. I was given this book as an ARC and my review is my own.

What a wonderful sweet story! Special needs children are often overlooked in our society but this new to me author brings them forefront and center in this novel.
Ada has agreed to teacher the special needs scholars in her Amish community. She is nervous about her first day of teaching and wonders how she will do all she has to at home and teach as well. Even though she has only a handful of students, they all have special issues and Martha, a teenager with Downs, is her only assistant. With seven siblings at home to take care of after the loss of her parents, Ada is exhausted at the end of each day.
Josiah, a widower of nine months, has a son in Ada's class. Nathan has issues of screaming, kicking and acting up as well as being hearing impaired. Josiah is at a loss as to what to do and worries about how his son will react to a new classroom environment.
I was deeply touched by several things that went on during the telling of this story. I kept a box of tissues handy. To be deeply moved by the Christmas program put on by the special needs students would be a huge understatement! I loved all the characters, even Betty. There was a couple of mysteries hinted to that kept me up late turning the pages until way past my bedtime. Romance, mystery, and lovable characters can all be found within the pages of this book. As book one in a series it can be read alone but I'm definitely looking forward to the others that follow.
I received an ebook copy through Netgalley but was not required to write a review.

I was very impressed with this new-to-me author. I really enjoyed The Amish Teacher’s Gift and will definitely read more books written by Rachel J. Good.

The characters in this story really pulled at my heart. Whether it was Josiah and his inability to communicate with his deaf son, Nathan, or Ada trying to do her best to help her special needs students, I was totally connected to these characters. The communication issues between Nathan and Josiah, along with the tantrums, created many tense situations that had to be overcome.

I also loved the chemisty between Josiah and Ada, but a relationship developing between them wasn’t a simple situation. They had plenty of miscommunications themselves, as well as much judgement to overcome from the community.

I enjoyed this novel so much and look forward to the next in the series.

I cannot say enough positive feedback about Rachel's Goods latest book An Amish Teachers Gift. This is the first book in Love and Promise series. Perhaps its because I have worked with special needs children for many years so I may have a soft spot for the story.

I normally write my reviews about the characters, but this review will be a bit different as I will focus on how Good brought the most accurate story about special needs in an amish community, and how they provide the most current a update resources for their teachers in the classroom. This story brings you everything I could imagine, from frustration to happiness and questioning how all this will come together. I can't recall any other story written with such accuracy. Trust me when I say you will be moved by all the characters in this story and your heart will beat just a bit faster. There is always so much to learn from those with special needs. Thank you Rachel Good for your continued writings.

I was given an electronic copy of this book from Net Galley for my review which I have given.

Widower Josiah Yoder wants to be a good father, to his deaf young son, Nathan. Nathan doesn't understand why his mamm isn't coming home. Josiah enrolls Nathan in a special-needs school and is relieved to see his son immediately comforted by his new teacher. Ada is a
woman whose sweet charm and gentle smile just might be the balm they both need. Ada Rupp wasn’t sure she could be a good teacher with seven siblings to care for, but then she holds Nathan in her arms and realizes she'll do all she can to help this lost little boy. Then she finds herself falling in love with a man in mourning. Although it may be against the rules, his quiet strength is the support Ada never knew she needed. They could have the loving family she'd always hoped for. This is a beautiful story of faith, love, and second chances.

I received a copy from the author and voluntarily chose to review it.

The Amish Teachers Gift is a wonderful heartwarming Amish story about Ada, a young special needs teacher, who not only teaches school but has the burden of taking care of her seven siblings after her mother dies. She also makes a difficult decision regarding her father's health condition and is looked down on by most of the Amish community for doing so.

Ada wants a husband, children, and to find happiness, but her situation seems hopeless. Things are complicated when Josiah brings his deaf son, Nathan, to her school for her to teach. Josiah is going through a difficult time also learning to take care of a young son alone.

The story is one of hardship, struggles, relationships and a willingness to help others in spite of what the main characters were going through. I love how the author communicates the relationship between Ada and Josiah throughout the story. You get glimpses of both Ada and Josiah's insecurities, their hunger to find true love, and a want to put to rest the guilt they both feel.

Ms Good is a new author to me but I enjoyed reading this book very much. I will definitely be reading more from this author.

I enjoyed being in the classroom with Ada Rupp and her special needs students. Nathan Yoder is one of her students. His mother died but he doesn’t understand and keeps throwing fits and screaming because he wants her to come home. She and Nathan had been in Mexico for her cancer treatments and he thinks that’s where she is. Ada’s brother David signs and is able to communicate with Nathan. They become fast friends and, only when he is at school or Ada’s house, is he calm.

Read this well written story by Rachel Good. Read about Nathan and Josiah’s (Nathan’s father) struggles. Does he ever understand that is mother isn’t coming home? Will he stop being mad at his father for sending her away?

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Amish School Teacher’s Gift Review

Where do I even start, this book was amazing from top to bottom! I love reading religious books, particularly those that focus on the Amish community because it’s such a stark contrast from the way I live as a modern-day Christian.
I enjoyed the various interspersings of Deitch words, but I wish the context of the sentence would have made the meaning more clear. I gather that huchmut is bad, but is does it mean “forbidden”, “frowned upon”, “illegal”, etc?
I love the scene when Josiah stands up for his faith with the boss of his company. It’s very difficult to be the odd one out and he wasn’t afraid to do the things his faith required of him

The Christmas play...tearjerker! I felt like I was right in the scene with the parents watching their deaf son or autistic daughter tell the story of Jesus through sign. And then the bit at the end with Nathan...my heart swelled. I felt as though I myself had witnessed his breakthrough. I also liked the following scene when they give Ada a gift in her classroom.

Overall, the author has a great handle on the emotions of her readers and characters. It’s difficult to write in a way that the reader feels like they’re a face in a crowd and not a peeping Tom. Rachel knocked this out of the park! I can’t wait for more work from her.

This was the first book that I have read and reviewed for this author and I loved it.

Ada is a teacher in a special needs Amish school. The incidents the author writes about aren't glossed over but very accurate in how it is to have a special needs child and that they can be very difficult at times. I know this first hand. That honesty came through and appealed to me, personally. I enjoyed the characters and the experiences that they shared and the not always perfect lives they led. They had issues to overcome and to deal with. Made it real! Made it believable.

I really loved reading this book and hope I will have a chance to read many more from this very talented author.

I received an ebook copy of this book from the author. All thoughts are my own.

The Amish Teacher's Gift by Rachel J. Good

Rachel J. Good is a fairly new author to me, but every book I have read has made me want to read more.
Her newest release The Amish Teacher's Gift is one of those unique Amish books that I love to read. This story, centered around real life struggles and situations along with its characters just drew me in. I found it very hard to put down. This story of loss, forgiveness, learning to trust God and his plan through all your struggles, and unconditional love had me hating to see this book end. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley, but was not required to give a positive review. All thoughts are my honest opinion.

In An Amish Teacher’s Gift, Rachel J Good, introduces us to Ada Rupp, the oldest child in her family who is caring for her seven younger siblings after her mother’s death and her father’s disappearance which we later learn about. Ada not only is taking care of her seven siblings, but is the new teacher at the Amish special needs school.

Josiah Yoder is a young widow and father of a hearing-impaired son with whom he has trouble communicating and even getting along with due to his son’s terrible fits. Josiah will do anything to connect with his son and turns to Ada for help.

It is hard to write about this novel and not give too much a way, but it is definitely captivating and keeps the reader hooked.

I loved this book and applaud Ms. Good for undertaking this story as this topic is close to my heart. I would recommend this novel to anyone who loves to read!

I received an advance reader copy of this book from netgalley and Forever in return for my honest opinion of the book. All opinions and statements expressed are strictly my own.

Precious story of a young teacher who cares deeply for her scholars. Extraordinary circumstances and very special families are brought together with the love of this teacher and her devotion. Each scholar has their own diagnosis and each family handles that diagnosis uniquely. This is a heart warming story. I received a copy of this book from the author and this is my personal opinion.
