I didn't enjoy this book's predictability and lack of anything really happening. Didn't feel the love not any urgency in losing the shop or Max
This was the perfect, escapist summer read for me! I adored it! As I'd read The Cosy Christmas Chocolate Shop at the end of 2017 I felt like I was back with old friends. The setting of Warkton-by-the-Sea felt so real and the descriptions were just so vivid. I could close my eyes and be transported there in a flash.
I also can't write this without mentioning CHOCOLATE! This book had me salivating more than when I read its predecessor. The descriptions of all the chocolatey delights had my stomach rumbling constantly. I also loved the recipes within the book (especially the raspberry gin chocolate truffles).
The Cosy Seaside Chocolate Shop had me smiling, laughing and left my heart feeling full of love..and my stomach pining for chocolate. Thats not a bad thing though right?
The Cozy Seaside Chocolate Shop is the perfect summer read. It’s delicious and sweet, filled with wonderful characters, leaving me wanting to search for the first book in this series. That way I can read it and this one all over again. Thank you NetGalley for this e-copy in exchange for my honest review.
I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys romance a easy summer read! I flew through it and the plot was intriguing.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When Emma opened her gorgeous little chocolate shop in the harbor village of Warkton-by-the-Sea, she realized a lifelong dream. Love is also blossoming with her hunky beau, Max, who’s slowly healing her fragile heart. Summer's here and life has never felt so sweet. Until the rain clouds start to gather. A rival sweet shop and killjoy landlord give Emma a headache, and when a face from the past turns up unannounced, Emma finds herself spiraling down memory lane. With Max’s crazy work schedule driving him to distraction, Emma’s in danger of making some choices she might come to regret. With close friends, spaniel Alfie, and the whole village behind her, will Emma get to keep the chocolate shop and get her love life back on track?

The author does a great job of writing characters that the reader can connect to right from page one, it almost feels like you are visiting with your friends and you don't want the visit to end but you know it eventually will. The descriptions of all the chocolates that Emma makes for the shop will have your mouth watering and wishing that you had some of them to eat while you are reading the book. The author does a nice job of touching on the topics of love, hope, loss, and making mistakes that make her characters very life like and believable. The book's ending brings the books events to a nice conclusion, but it also leaves it open for the author to write a third book for this wonderful series.

I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley and Harper Impulse and Killer Reads for my honest opinion of this book.

Emma is loving her life running her chocolate shop in Warkton-on-sea. She has her own flat with her beloved dog over the shop and had moved on from the death of her boyfriend in a crash and is seeing the gorgeous Max........... but can her life carry on this good or is the bubble about to burst!
Great to be back with Emma and her friends I loved the first book and this one doesn't disappoint, in the same easy light hearted style perfect for the summer
From that very second I seen the cover for this I was so excited, I mean look at it, it is just so summery and beautiful.
What delighted me even more was that this was a follow on from the first book The Cosy Christmas Chocolate Shop. I couldn't wait to find out what was happening next for Emma and the Chocolate shop and of course her dog Alfie.
My goodness this did not let me down it was Fabulous! I found myself so engrossed the minute I picked up the book I just couldn't put it down before I knew it I had reached the end.
Oh and the chocolates wow! They made my mouth water, they sounded so delicious, I loved imaging what they tasted like. My imagination went into overdrive!
When reading this I just didn't know what was going to happen next or how the book would end and I absolutely loved that! It kept me guessing right until the end.
Perfection!
I didn’t realise this was the second book in the series but I really enjoyed it despite not reading the first book.
This book was set in a beautiful location with wonderful characters and the chocolate throughout had my mouth watering.
The chocolate shop by the sea is most people’s dreams. Emma is making a success of her dreams and has made her home and business a thriving success. She has overcome her previous heartache and has found love with her new boyfriend Max.
With the appearance of someone from her past and the chance of her losing her business , her perfect life is but on the line. Can she hold on to her hopes and dreams or will they come crashing down?? Can one mistake change her life forever?
This book is the perfect summer read. Light hearted and easy to read. Now I want to find Emma’s seaside chocolate shop and sit down to sample her mouthwatering chocolate treats .
I have been a fan of Caroline Roberts and her books for a fair while now. I absolutely LOVED reading ‘The Cosy Christmas Chocolate Shop’ last year and when I heard that Caroline had plans to release a sequel, I just knew that I had to clear the decks and read ‘The Cosy Seaside Chocolate Shop’ as soon as I could. I have only just finished reading it and I absolutely ADORED reading it but more about that in a bit.
Emma is the owner of ‘The Chocolate Shop’ and she lives above the shop with her gorgeous dog. This book sees Emma feeling settled in Warkton-by-the-Sea. She has her business, she has her friends, she has her gorgeous sounding boyfriend Max, she has her gorgeous dog and she has worked through her grief for her previous boyfriend, who was killed in a road accident. Emma is a lovely lady, who works hard but she also knows how to relax. She supports her friends, who in turn support her and have her back. Emma sounds like a lovely lady to chat to and she is always ready with a friendly ear if one of her customers or friends needs to chat. However, there’s trouble on the horizon for Emma with the slimy landlord, who owns the building where the chocolate shop is, the re-emergence of her dead boyfriend’s brother, the fact that Max (her current boyfriend) is working away from home and only comes back at weekends and there is possibility of competition for the chocolate shop opening up nearby. I had taken to the character of Emma so much that I felt that she was a friend of mine. When she hurt, I hurt and when she felt upset I felt like jumping into the pages of this book to give her a hug, to sort out whoever was upsetting her and to put the world to rights with her over a cup of tea and some chocolate.
As soon as I started reading this book I felt as though I had reunited with old friends. Warkton-by-the-Sea sounds like a lovely place to live as it is a small but tight knit community by the seaside (which is ideal for somebody with a dog who loves water). Even though it is a while since I read the first book in the series, it didn’t take me long to reacquaint myself with which character was which and where they came in the story. Like the first book, reading ‘The Cosy Seaside Chocolate Shop’ became seriously addictive. As soon as I started reading , I was hooked and before I knew what was happening, I had cleared about a third of the book and a couple of hours had flown by. The page numbers flew past in a blur and despite my attempts to ration how much I read at once, before I knew what was happening I had finished the book, which I was so disappointed about. I was enjoying the author’s writing style, the storylines, the characters and where the book was set (in the North East of England where I live) so much that I just wanted the book to continue.
Being a chocoholic myself, I absolutely loved the fact that the story is set in a chocolate shop. The flip side to that of course is the fact that the descriptions of the chocolates were so vivid that I found my mouth watering and when I had finished reading I was desperate for chocolate and lots of it, which isn’t good for somebody who goes to Weight Watchers and is trying hard to lose weight not put it on.
In conclusion, I absolutely ADORED reading ‘The Cosy Seaside Chocolate Shop’ and I would definitely recommend it to other readers. I can’t wait to read what comes next from Caroline Roberts. Here’s hoping that I don’t have too long to wait. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a well deserved 5* out of 5*.
This is the 2nd book in the Cosy Chocolate Shop series. It can be read as a standalone novel, but it does make sense to read the books in order. This book picks up the story from The Cosy Christmas Chocolate Shop and we are reintroduced to Emma and her divine little Chocolate Shop in the seaside village of Warkton-by-the-Sea. Emma’s chocolate shop is still up and running with the added bonus of a coffee shop on the side. Emma is just about making ends meet, but decides to open up the courtyard area of the shop as an outside seating area for the summer, and also to host event nights at the shop. Unfortunately, the obnoxious landlord has other ideas for the shop…
I loved the first book of this series, I mean, let’s face it, what’s not to like about a chocolate shop! This one matched it word for word on the enjoyment stakes. I sat glued to this story until I had finished it. I really liked Emma’s character from the first book, and felt that she was such a hard worker yet nothing ever seemed to go her way. I liked the fact that she was still with Max, but have to admit I didn’t like Max as much in this book. He didn’t seem to be there for Emma as much in this book, and if he had have been perhaps she wouldn’t have gotten into the predicament that she did!
I think as the series goes on Emma’s character is blossoming and really coming into her own. The business is also doing the same and I can’t wait to see what comes up in the next book (please say there will be one!) The location is absolutely perfect and as I was reading my imagination ran wild! You can certainly tell the author is from Northumberland as the description of sandy beaches, little fishing villages and rugged landscapes certainly come from someone who’s been there!
Now, I come to the important bit – the chocolates! I said it about the last book and I’ll say it about this one, I honestly think I’ve put on about 3 stones just by reading this book. If chocolate is your thing then you will be in chocolate ecstasy reading this! The concept of a Chocolate Shop was always going to be a good one, but the author has added in so many descriptions of how the different chocolates smell, look and taste that it just puts you right there in the story! Fabulous!
A really enjoyable summer read, which will put you in the holiday mood without a doubt. Roll on for the next book in the series!
At Christmas I read The Cosy Christmas Chocolate shop by Caroline Roberts and let me tell you that quaint little shop and its loveable owner Emma has stayed in my mind so when I saw that there was a sequel being released I couldn’t wait.
In A Cosy Seaside Chocolate Shop we are reunited with all of our friends from the previous book and once again the community spirit is shining through. Emma and her friends Holly and Bev who work at the chocolate shop are as busy as ever and are keen to push the business even further with another new idea that was set to get the tastebuds flowing. Mr Eel is upto his nasty tricks again and for a while I did worry that the storyline was going to be a bit to alike the first book but gradually other events unfold to set a fresh feel to the storyline.
What I love about both of these books is how ambitious and passionate Emma is about her business and all of her hard work looks to be paying off but poor Emma always seems to face continual hurdles whilst all we wish to see for her is a fairytale happy ending. We see more of her relationship with Max in this book and also see how the relationship between Holly and Adam is blossoming too.
The detail that the author goes into with regards to the delights made and sold in the chocolate shop is amazing, nobody will be able to read this book without drooling from time to time. I wish that this little shop really did exist then I would be there in a heartbeat.
This book has everything you could possibly want from a perfect Summer holiday read and I am just keeping my fingers crossed that we will get a third book in this series as I do not feel like I am ready to say goodbye to these characters yet.
Any story that features Northumberland gets my attention and having read the first book in the series 'The Cosy Christmas Chocolate Shop' I was looking forward to seeing what happens next to Emma and Max, whose deepening relationship faces several tests in this Summer story.
Emma's business is growing, but despite her hard work and creativity, she is still at the mercy of an unscrupulous landlord. There are lots of colourful events in this book, including prosecco parties and food festivals. They celebrate the culture and vivacity of Northumberland life adding both authenticity and depth to this romantic story.
Emma's tragic loss of her fiance Luke made her wary of falling in love again, and even though she is committed to Max now, the unexpected appearance of a face from the past makes her remember what she's lost and threatens her future happiness.
The village characters make this romantic tale resonate, they are believable and demonstrate the community spirit associated with English village life. There's also plenty of gossip and lots of advice, not all of it welcome but again this underpins village England and makes the story realistic.
The lovely chocolate descriptions are a bonus, so good you can almost taste them. Recipes are included at the back of the book if you want to sample the chocolate delights.
The ending is heartstoppingly romantic, the perfect conclusion to this sweet story.
I received a copy of this book from Harper Impulse via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
I would recommend this book to friends and family who fancy a delicious escape to the coast.
A cosy escape that leaves me wanting more.
I enjoyed reading this book, with thanks to #Netgalley. I enjoyed most of the characters, especially the older ones, not afraid to speak their minds, though one character got my back up from the moment he left without paying.
Whilst I loved the story set around the village and the chocolate shop, in particular, some of the motivations and conflict were a little predictable but that didn’t detract from my enjoyment.
There were moments in the book where the third person omniscient (I think) point of view stood out a lot but it did help to find out a little more about the secondary characters stories.
PS: I loved the recipes at the back of the book :)
Thanks, #Netgalley #HarperImpulse
Second book in this series set in a chocolate shop by the sea.
An easy read, and a great setting. There is a sense of community in the book, where they look out for each other, and want to help each other out.
I haven't read the first in this series - The Cosy Christmas Chocolate Shop - but will definitely be picking it up after finishing this delightful new addition to the Cosy book family! A new set of wonderful characters, a new spectacular location.. and chocolate!! What more could you want from a book?!!
Emma is the owner of the Chocolate Shop by the sea and has been for a number of years, and life is perfect!! The shop is a success, she's surrounded by great friends and she's also loved up with the yummy Max and she never thought she'd find love again after her previous heartbreak!
Life can never be that good though and soon Emma is facing a number of problems, mainly to do with the landlord at her shop changing the goalposts, and a new business in town stirring things up to take away trade! Max is also away more due to work and they are finding it tough to see each other as they're just both so busy. She needs to start thinking up new creative ways to get the customers coming back. And there's a blast from the past who walks back into her life that turns her head too and brings back some strange feelings.
I adore the way this author captures the community spirit so well and fills her books with the loveliest characters who you connect with from the start, and this was just such a sweet (!) story that I look forward to future books!!
I absolutely loved this novel! I read the first one, the Christmas novel, and enjoyed it but boy did I find this one soooo much better! I'm not sure what it was, maybe it was reading it and drooling over the ice-creams and milkshakes whilst it was nice and hot outside, or maybe it was just the characters and the juicy and drama filled storyline. Either way, I loved it! I'm not sure why, but when I first saw it on Netgalley, I didn't put two and two together and realise that the Christmas one was the one before this, but once I started reading it didn't matter anyway, you could read this as a standalone easily.
The cover is just absolutely beautiful. I love the bright, summery colours, the pretty flowers and the little boat bobbing on the sea with a lighthouse far in the distance. It just looks like a perfect summer read, and the storyline behind it is just as beautiful! It was stunningly written, I related to all of the characters and there wasn't one that I didn't like! I even liked Anne from The Rock Shop! I loved the idea of the Prosecco Parties, the Courtyard Cafe, the Monster Milkshakes, the Eton Mess truffles - everything just sounded so mouthwateringly delicious and will soon make you want to eat some chocolate!
One thing I was disappointed over, was what Emma did to Max, I really really felt for Max and was so upset for him! I don't like reading about stuff like that, because I certainly don't agree with it - but having said that, it was just a little portion in the story and wasn't written about for long - so it's still well worth 5 stars in my eyes! I absolutely adored this book, I adored the food, the chocolate, the setting and all the characters. I loved the village fete that took place along the habour, and all the tales about the other characters woven into Emma's. Overall, a beautiful story. Thank you to the publisher for a chance to read this novel via Netgalley, which I have reviewed honestly.
A cosy story about a cosy little seaside town with a romantic, picturesque setting in the harbor. And a very nice distraction from real life: 'And remember, we all fall down sometimes, Emma, whether it's the stairs or making a mistake, but then we get up again. It's what you do next that matters.'
The Cosy Seaside Chocolate Shop is about Emma and her lovely hunk of a boyfriend Max. Perhaps there could be a follow up? I'd love to know how Em's assistant Holly gets on at university.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of the book.
Haviing read the previous book In the series, I was so excited to read The Cosy Seaside Chocolate Shop, and I have to say, yet again I loved every single minute of this book, everything was just perfect, the lovely characters Emma and Max, the perfect beautiful location Warton by the Sea, and not forgetting the chocolates which sounded so yummy!!! It's just the perfect read.
A fun and easy read for summer. Reading about Emma and her Chocolate Shop by the sea made me hungry, and wish I could visit. Enjoyed her and her friends, especially Max, but felt her lack of being upfront with him was not wise, especially her age since she was not a teenager. Still, overall, I really liked this story, and highly recommend this book and author. I didn't read the first book, but was not lost at all.
Thank you so much #netgalley for the chance to read this book before publication. Absolutley fantastic book I love this series I love the characters Emma, bev, holly, max and of course Alfie the dog and lots of other characters from the village. Poor Emma it never rains but it pours she has suffered a lot of heartache already with the loss of like her fiance. And now due to "Neil the eel" the landlord as nicknamed by holly her whole world could come crushing down and she could lose her beloved chocolate shop by the sea. Then feeling emotional things happen that could destroy her world with max. I laughed I cried but I really enjoyed following the chocolate journey I really really hope we get more books in this series. If you haven't read the tea shop in the castle book series by the same author I highly recommend. I really love the stories from Caroline you really do feel for the characters and there is a good mix of a story to make you laugh and cry in equal measure. A fantastic summer read. Thank.you again netgalley.
