Only the second of this series, and already a serious step up in story telling. I love the interaction between Kane and Alton and can;t wait to see how their interactions develop.

I went on from book 1 to book 2.

I’m not sure if it’s me or what, but, I’m finding this a very good promising plot but it just doesn’t deliver to me as a reader (personally) what I would expect from a story like this.

The dialogue is stilted.
The characters wooden.

The great thing I found in this was the putting of good use technology in finding someone.
It’s not all bad this technology thing.

I’m peeved I’ve not enjoyed book 1 &2 because I really wanted to.

Bring Me Flowers (Detectives Kane and Alton #2) - D.K. Hood

I thoroughly enjoyed the second in this American police procedural series. For the last wee while I've much preferred the British crime and psychological thrillers but this series has grabbed my attention and I will absolutely read all that follow.

Kane and Alton are the kind of police officers that you really wouldn't want chasing you, talk about determined. We meet Shane Wolfe a pathologist who is going to be an new permanent member of Black Rock Falls crime fighting team and he certainly brings a lot to the table..

There's plenty of subtle hints to which way this is going to go and even though I did guess the culprit before the reveal in no way did it spoil my enjoyment of the book. With plenty of suspects and twists there's more than enough to keep even the most demanding of readers happy.

I must apologise for my tardiness in posting my review I read this quite some time ago but due to ill health I'm a little behind in reviewing books.

Read for an honest review. Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture

Awesome!!! I couldn't put this book down. I didn't see it coming at the end. I couldn't believe who the killer was. It had great characters, story line and very believable. I really enjoyed this book. I would definitely recommend this one.

It’s been six months in Black Run Falls where Detective Jenna and Deputy Kane have settled to a safe routine. But the peace does not last long as soon a body of a teenage girl is discovered in the woods as result of a vicious attack. When more bodies start turning up Jenna and Kane realize it’s a work of a serial killer who will stop at nothing till he claims his final prize.

Bring me flowers is the second book in the Jenna and Kane series. It’s a fast paced addictive storyline and even though can be read as a stand-alone I would recommend reading it in order. I enjoyed learning about the characters backstories and am looking forward to reading more about the new character that was introduced in the series

I would like to thank Bookouture & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.

I have had the privilege of reading all 3 books in the trilogy courtesy of Netgalley. Since I've read all 3 one after the other, I will review them all together. They were so brilliant, I can't distinguish between anyone !
In Don't tell a soul we meet Sheriff Alton. A kickarse lady, that has a secret that she could tell you, but then she would have to hurt you.... no puns intended. Through into the mix a handsome, quiet and secretive new deputy named Kane. He also has his own secrets.... The chemistry between them was entertaining. In this book they have to deal with missing persons. Something that seldom happens in their sleepy town.....
The story continues in Bring me flowers. A new deputy has been appointed at the station. He also seems to have his own secrets..... This book made me question all around me, because the killer I did not see coming.......
The story continued once again in Follow me home. The relationship between Jenna and Dave is continuously entertaining and I just couldn't wait to finish the book.
I hope from the bottom of my heart that will be a fourth book!!!!

We’re back in Black Rock Falls, Montana where the past, secrets, revelations, grooming, trust, betrayal and a search for the truth & justice grips the reader at every page turned!

Holy hells bells! Intrigued by the prologue is an understatement! I was thrilled to see the backstory dropped in now and again, making this an easily read stand alone novel in the series. I enjoyed how the story played out, with red herrings, revelations and some OMFG moments injecting in the shock factor and kept me turning the pages until I reached the very end!

Kane and Alton are a formidable pair with such a fanastic backstory each, you wonder how unlikely it is they would find each other in the same circumstances but it just works! I also liked the added addition of Shane Wolfe and what we learn about him… I loved how the characters pooled their skills together to solve the case, each adding the extra level of suspense, mystery and intrigue. A controversial storyline that was well written and in no way gratuitous. I may have figured out the puzzle, before it was pieced together but that in no way took away from my reading pleasure!

So would I recommend this book? That would be a HELL YEAH – I recommend this series and can’t wait for the next one! Dark, intriguing and punch-in-the-gut revelations will have you hooked!

This is a brilliant book, with a solid exciting storyline and relatable characters. There were plenty of twists in the plot, it was a real page turner. I couldn’t put it down, I read it in one sitting. I can’t wait for the next instalment of this series. Five star recommendation.

Many thanks to Netgalley and D.K. Hood for the copy of this book. I agreed to give my unbiased opinion voluntarily.

As a Montana girl I was so happy to read a book where the state of Montana becomes a type of character. I think the story was incredibly fast paced, the characters are relatable and likeable, you will stay up late to finish this one

This is the second of the books by D. K. Hood that I have had the pleasure of reading and reviewing. The first one ‘Don’t Tell A Soul’ was released in October 2017. I absolutely loved it and I had high hopes for ‘Bring Me Flowers’. Boy oh boy I was not to be disappointed as it is even better than ‘Don’t Tell A Soul’ but more about that in a bit.
I absolutely loved the character of Detective Jenna Alton. She is one tough cookie but then she has had to be. She’s a strong female lead, who is able to command respect from the people she works with and from the people, who live where she works. Jenna is feisty and not afraid to stick up for herself, although she occasionally gets herself into dangerous situations. Something has happened in Jenna’s past, which meant that she had to ‘disappear’ completely. I’m not going to type too much as to why but safe to say that it was felt her life was in danger. Jenna found herself in Black Fall Rocks with a new identity and a new job. Jenna gets on particularly well with Deputy David Kane, who is in hiding himself. Jenna & Kane get on so well that it is almost as if they are married and they so make a lovely couple. Initially I wasn’t too sure about Deputy Wolfe as he seems to be lacking somewhat in customer service and people skills. It soon becomes clear that Kane and Wolfe know each other of sorts but I don’t want to write too much about the reasons why as I don’t want to spoil the book for others. The characters that really made my skin crawl were the cowboys, who were in town for the rodeo competitions. To say that they are slimeballs with a sense of entitlement is putting it mildly and politely.
As I alluded to at the beginning of this review, ‘Don’t Tell A Soul’ is good but in my opinion ‘Bring Me Flowers’ blows ‘Don’t Tell A Soul’ out of the water. The story hits the ground running and maintains the pace throughout. Once I started reading, I found that I just couldn’t stop and my Kindle came everywhere with me. I was so wrapped up in the story and the investigation that I didn’t notice how quickly the time was passing and the page numbers were flying past. By the time I looked up, I had literally cleared 33% but I genuinely had not realised. I was hooked on the book from the moment I opened the front cover and the book didn’t release me from its grip until I closed the back cover. I was so disappointed that I had finished the book as I was enjoying both the writing style and the storyline so much that I just wanted the book to continue. Reading ‘Bring Me Flowers’ was very much like riding on a rollercoaster ride with lots of twists and turns and moments where you just have to cover your eyes because you fear what is going to happen next. Whilst reading the book I even started shouting at the pages to warn the characters of imminent danger but then I had to remind myself that it was fiction and nobody could hear me. I smugly thought that I had worked out who had done what and to whom but I was so wrong and the book took me off in another direction entirely.
In short, I absolutely blinking well loved reading ‘Bring Me Flowers’. The series featuring Detectives Alton and Kane is going from strength to strength. ‘Bring Me Flowers’ is one of those books that is going to stay fresh in my memory for a long time to come. I would have no hesitation in recommending this author and the Alton & Kane series to anybody. New readers are in for one hell of a read. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a well deserved 5* out of 5*.

I am hooked on the Kane and Alton series. I love the fact that these 2 troubled people, both with a hidden past, have managed to bond together and right the wrongs in their small town!

This is a good read. I thought though that it lacked tension and that I would have enjoyed it more.

Thank you very much to netGalley and Bookouture for the advance copy of Bring Me Flowers my review is honest and unbiased.
I loved the first book in this series so I couldn't wait to read this and it totally lived up to my expectations. I love the relationship between Detectives Kane and Alton and how he tries to look out for her and take care of her. Brilliant edge of your seat story line with lots of twists and turns and I never guessed the killer until it was revealed in the book which is always a big plus for me.
