I loved this book! Super cute. Will recommend for sure! This book was exactly what I didn't know I was looking for!
Definitely my least favorite book by Jessica Frances so far, despite Harvey being one of the most memorable sidekicks in her previous books.
I can't even say for sure what exactly it was that didn't work for me. Maybe it was the slow pacing, particularly during the first half, maybe it was the supposedly sizzling tension between Harvey and Nix that I just didn't feel. Maybe it was that awful portrayal of Sasha that made me feel so incredibly glad I didn't read book #2 of this series. Maybe it was one more rushed finale that didn't satisfy me in the least. Or maybe it was a little of all of them.
I did quite enjoy the plot during the second half though, as well as the writing, and I appreciate that Frances isn't afraid of including some tragedy in her romances and thus avoiding too much sap, which is why I decided on three stars anyway.
I love this author, but this book was not for me.. I am sure others will enjoy.
This book could have been great....instead it was ok. I didn't love it but I liked it. Had such potential.
Not what I was expecting when I got this book- didn’t really enjoy.
This is not my genre to read but because I read all the book in the series I said that I will give it a try because I liked Harvey in the previous book and I was intrigued to read his story. And of course, all the book that I read in the series were an enjoyable fun read I couldn't say no to this one. And I was satisfied with the book and story. Both Nix and Harvey were great, developed and likable characters from time to time I enjoyed developing their relationship more than I did with Joe and Tegan. Also, Harvey had me surprised a lot. It was great to see what are doing others from the gang, of course, they made the story funnier. This one is a little bit darker with more suspense, mystery and a little more bloody than previous. But the whole package is great enjoyable read.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly
After reading the previous book and was impressed by this I had to know what was the deal with Harvey's story. I didn't even read the description to this book before getting into it, I had a feeling I was going to like it and turns out I was right. I loved getting to see Harvey and Nix and seeing him open up to someone other then Teagan. I loved seeing the attraction between the two, I loved seeing the true feelings one another had by seeing to know both of their point of view. I enjoyed the moments where Nix was struck with the ladies and seeing how they talked with one another. There is drama and suspense of wondering what was going to happen next. When things start to look good these guys just couldn't catch a break. Overall pretty great book, I still needs to see what previously happen in the first and second book and I really appreciate that I was able to get ahold of this book.
I was looking for something a little outside the "usual" romance, saw Nix and Harvey's book here, thought it was worth a read. Wow, I can say I was pleasantly surprised, a new author discovered, back reading of the previous stories in this series is now in my near future. Great characters, engaging story, still an alpha guy falling hard for his love, it just happens to be a guy in this story. Nix father is a Chicago mobster type, takes exception to his wife turning him in, his son being gay and a huge disappointment. The story takes the reader on Nixs action-packed journey, getting shot at, car crash, murder, fire, New friends, and Harvey. A very enjoyable read, it became two people falling in love, life throwing the curve balls, and how they face them together. Fab - recommend it.
A big thank you to NetGalley for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I did not read the blurb well enough, as the book sounds fun but I didn't realize it was about two men. This type romance is not my thing. I skimmed the book. Don't take my rating to heart as I didn't read it all. If you like male/male romances you will probably like this.
3.5 STARS!!!
I Broke Into His Office was a good read. This book can be read as a standalone but I would recommend readers start with the first book because the characters are interconnected and starting from the beginning might help readers understand these characters more. I was excited to read Harvey's story ever since he appeared in book 3 and played such a major part in the story. However, he was still a bit of a mystery and seemed so reserved with everyone besides Teagan, so I was excited to know all about him. I liked the moments between him and Nix, and there were some funny moments with the girls, but I felt as if this story was missing something. The thing is, I cannot pin-point what that something is, I just know something feels missing. I've read every book in this series and one thing this series does not lack is suspense. This book might have been my least favorite but I still liked it. I have enjoyed every book in this series and I'm sure I will read the next one if there is one. I recommend readers who enjoy a good suspense filled read with a touch of romance and laughs to give this series a try.
