Sunflower Summer In a summer of fun book. Raccoon was having fun making a calendar and cleaning his garden shed. He found something special while he was cleaning and he wanted to do it with his frends - how awesome to share isn't? The kids will learn how to do this and learn it is such a fun thing to do. This book has a great theme and a great lesson for the kids.
Great read! Wonderful characters and good story. Great illistrations. Entertaining book to read with kids. Would recommend.
Sweet story of woodland animals growing sunflowers. It will take a lot of work and patience, but will it all be worth it in the end? Illustrations are really cute! I can't wait to see the book! I think it might be a good story for story time for littles, too. Maybe plant some sunflowers!
Sunflower Summer (God Gives Us Friends When We Need to Wait) by Wendy Dunham is the second book in this delightful series concerning a group of animal friends. It gently teaches a lesson in waiting patiently which is what the animals must do for the sunflowers. The personalities of the animals are coming through in this book even more than the first. Skunk is the pessimist of the group while Raccoon is the wise one. The grandkids and I enjoyed getting to know these characters better.
I always thought that sunflowers received their name by the shape of their flower but now I will watch the ones in my garden this summer to see if the animals’ observations are true. Now I also look forward to the Bible verse at the end of the book. While Sunflower Summer is a Christian children’s book, it is so with a soft touch.
The story will appeal to preschoolers to independent readers. The book seems to be able to be read by a child at the end of first grade.
Sunflower Summer by Wendy Dunham is a perfect book I just loved it. Its about seven woodland creatures are on their journey of planting their first sunflowers. Raccoon calls all his friends and they work as a team to plant a sunflower seed and then watch it grow. Everyone loves Sunflowers. This is a sweet story that shows friendship between each other and patience as they watch their sunflower seed grow into a giant sunflower. Great illustrations throughout the book and clearly written.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. The illustrations were colorful and kept my little one’s attention. The story was very sweet and simple enough for my toddler to follow. I loved the story of the sunflowers and Raccoon’s surprise at the end. I really liked how the author created a memorable story to teach an important Biblical truth and tie in the verse.
Adorable, light hearted story for young Christians. Beautiful illustrations complement the story well.
What a fun whimsical little book! I really liked the planting scene. That was really imaginative.
It took me a second to follow figure out what point they were trying to make. I assumed, with all the talk about the sunflowers and how they follow the sun, it would be about us following the Son, but she took it in another direction entirely. It was good, just not what I was expecting. The last page includes an applicable Bible verse.
The illustrations were wonderful, cheerful, simple, and colorful.
I received this as a free ARC through NetGalley and Harvest House Publishers. No favorable review was required, and these are my honest opinions
