Entrance is the first story I've read by J.J. Sorel and I really enjoyed it. When Clarissa meets Aidan sparks fly. Lots of heat. Clarissa gets in over her head with Aidan but he is smitten. Some minor back characters try to break up the fiery couple. Overall I found the story to be well-written and the characters had a lot of depth.
Clarissa applies for her dream job and gets it. When Aidan first sees Clarissa, he knows he must have her, the chemistry between them is off the charts hot. Both have had pain in their past, can their budding new relationship survive or will they face more pain. This is a fast-paced read with plenty of steam as well as drama. I like the characters and the story held my interest throughout. Looking forward to more.
I received an arc of this book from the publishers via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Clarissa is an art graduate but unable to find a job she is working temp jobs when she is sent to interview for a personal assistant position. Aidan Thornhill made his millions after military service which left deep scars in his mind. He is unable to resist the draw of his new personal assistant even though he has enough to concern himself with.
This book started out with a lot of promise but I found it a little too slow and the plot line too predictable. The author is clearly a fan of fifty shades of grey, while not bdsm there are definite similarities in the plot. As several other reviewers have pointed Regency era speak is the dialogue format which is not fitting with a modern era setting. For fans of fifty shades of grey, I would definitely recommend this book.
Entrance by J.J. Sorel is the first book in The "Thornhill Trilogy" series. This is the story of Aidan Thornhill and Clarissa Moone.
Clarissa who has maxed out her money needs a job and goes on a interview. There she finds a lot of beautiful ladies and they are told that they have only one question to answer. Later she gets the call that she has the job. Although she doesn't formally meet her boss at first she does meet someone who she thinks is part of the help in that household.
Aidan is a rich man who likes to get what he wants and he wants Clarissa from the first time he sees her. Their attractions only grows...but they both have things from their past that might stir up trouble for them.
Their story does not end with this book and will continue in to book 2 "Enlighten" in this series.
I enjoyed this read; it has a Fifty Shades of Grey feel to it, and that was a series I enjoyed. I like the h and H and they have a steamy ,passionate romance. There are times that the h, Clarissa, seems too emotional and childlike to me, but overall, I like her as a character. I'm on the fence about whether I like Clarissa's roommate as she seems loyal as a friend, but terrible in relationships. I liked Aidan and how sweet/ protective he was of Clrissa. Just an FYI, this read doesn't really have an ending and doesn't have an epilogue. It seems the author just took one story and cut it into three parts. That being said, I'm definitely going to check out the next book in the series!
