This was overall pretty good. I thought it was well written and she did a good job explaining priorities and setting your priorities in a way that is “correct.” I obviously did not agree with every single thing but I did enjoy this. It was a great reminder
The cover alone will draw people in to this book! I love the layout and the gentle colors. The discussion questions and prompts are great for diving deeper in to the study.
This book is a warm, faith-filled story about an adoptive family. Teresa Swanstrom Anderson’s life took various unexpected turns, and she records how her faith grew along the way. She has pink hair, a creative spirit, two biological children, and four adopted from Ethiopia.
I appreciated her glimpses from mom life and her encouragement to view life as an organic creation, being shaped by God for purposes you cannot fathom right now but will delight in later. Her life has been an adventure of faith, and you will find her story uplifting and thoughtful.
Her inspiring memoir is fun to read and full of great quotes like these:
“Plastic gods don’t matter much; they fit in a small crevice of the live you want, the life you were planning to have. And when everything is working…plastic gods feel like enough.”
“Forget what your brain is telling you from past experiences, hurts, failures, or weaknesses. What is Christ showing you right now?”
“By acknowledging that there is nothing outside of His timing, we can push frustration aside through seasons of seeming pause, knowing that there is teaching within it.”
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley.
Love her writing ! Great book on faith and living from a God centered perspective. Enjoyed the beautiful way she wrote about her surroundings and the love for her adoptive children and how she was courageous enough to listen to God.
Teresa Swanstrom Anderson has written an uplifting, thought-provoking powerhouse of a book! She candidly shares her continuing journey of letting God take control of her life. That doesn't mean she doesn't question, or worry, or doubt, or complain about the seeming lack of answers to prayers (or the timing of them), or get angry at God. What it means is she listens... she listens for God's still, but amazingly loud, voice and direction. She tries to get out of God's way and let Him give her the life He has always wanted her to have. Doing so has given her a life completely opposite of the one she once dreamed of, and guess what? She couldn't be happier!
Written in such a down-to-earth, warm-hearted way, this book is highly readable. Her honesty is refreshing. Ms. Anderson has her priorities straight, and has definitely made me revisit mine. I especially love the scripture verses and quotes she chose to make some of her points.
This book came to me at the perfect time, and that was NOT coincidental. I will always keep this shelved to revisit time and again.
EXCELLENT!!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Worthy Publishing for allowing me to read this book in exchange for an unbiased review. The opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
We spend our time making plans, but we need to understand that God guides our footsteps and we have to trust in Him. This book is beautiful, thoughtful, and absolutely relatable -- which really sets it apart. It's not always easy to just read facts, but when it's told in story form and then explained in detail, the reader gets the full experience. I will definitely recommend this book to my friends!
Talk about the total shift. How many of us have plans our lives completely only to have God come in and completely wreck us. There is beauty in the journey as long as we focus on obeying our Father in Heaven. This book is a reminder that he knows and that he cares about what we are going through. His plans are much higher than ours.
Teresa Swanstrom Anderson has written a book that resonates with me in every way. It was as if the Anderson wrote it for people who are in the same boat. I have come to the point of my life where I am allowing God to call all the shots in my life. I have noticed that he is changing my heart for things that I never wanted before. Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read a book that gave me even more confirmation that I am on the right path that others don't understand. I am following God and that is all that matters.
As the author shares her story with us, we are encouraged to believe that God is also working through the “interruptions” in our own lives. An encouraging book to read when you are facing changes and challenges.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. I was not required to give a positive review. This is my honest opinion about this book.
This book was a very nice surprise. I was expecting a theological book. But it seemed more like a novel but a different kind of novel.
As Teresa starts to relate events and experiences in the first pages, I couldn`t put down the book. She tells you the story and then gives you the lessons she learnt. Beautiful lessons, which are the highlights of the book.
It is an emotional book but one you have to read because of the teachings you will find.
This book was emotional and thought provoking. I learned so many things about myself, and how to learn to let God lead the way!
I'm at a stand still in my life right now. This book taught me to trust God and seek him in direction for my life.
“Closing one eye and bringing the device to the other, we’d see nothing but blurry scenes. Yet with a few twists of our wrists, it all came into clear focus, so close that we’d reach out expecting to touch it”. This was my favorite quote out of the book. This book is so beautifully written. I recommend anybody who is religious to read it. It’s definitely an eye opener. I have learned so many things about the journey God will sent me on. This book takes you on the Journey of Teresa. It describes the lessons God gave her and how she realized what he was saying. I loved it.
I love Teresa Swanstrom Anderson's blog and this book really fed my soul in the best ways. The author shares how to embrace the life God gave you, letting Him have the wheel and enjoying the journey. She shares her own journey, which was empowering and gave me reassurance that God's way is best. This book is wonderful!
