Because this is a trilogy, there is a lot of story here! It took me a little while to become attached to the characters in this trilogy, but it was an interesting set of books that took science fiction places that I hadn't read about before!

The shiva syndrome trilogy by alan joshua.
Near Moscow, a mind warfare research experiment goes horribly wrong, igniting a chain of inexplicable events. A mysterious black cloud silently obliterates thousands of lives and vaporizes a city, leaving a mile-deep crater.
A very good read. I liked the story bit long but I took my time with it. 4*
