Received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.
This was a cute read! Less spice than I expected, but a really cute story and I love the princess theme. I'm definitely going to ready Ariel and Isabelle's books!
Fairytale retellings are some of my favorites! Tara is one of my favorite romantic comedy authors and she knocked this one out of the park! It was hilarious, the friendships were amazing, and so was the relationship!
Unfortunately, I was unable to read this book due to a formatting issue.
My review is based on the blurb.
There's nothing better than seeing a woman come into her own, even if it's begrudgingly and become a woman that is empowered by her own drive and ambition. This book is laugh out loud funny, which is no surprise since it's written by the fabulous Tara Sivec!
Cynthia, Ariel and Isabelle are three woman that live on the same street in their "perfect" neighborhood with their "perfect" lives...until they're not so perfect! When they get an offer they can't seem to refuse, so begins their journey of becoming stripping princesses!! I literally snort laughed so many times while reading this book because it's a great premise, it's dirty and filled with women that become a group of take no BS from anyone women.
Their adventures into the world of stripping don't always go as planned but that's what leads to some of the best moments!
A shy librarian, a flamboyant loudmouth who can curse like a sailor, and a prude walk into a strip club…. this is an actual scene in At the Stroke of Midnight. And yet, knowing that this book was written by Tara Sivec, it makes that seem totally normal. Three women, each with a story of their own but no experience, decide to go into business for themselves. As strippers. Dressed as Disney princesses. What could possibly go wrong?
This book was laugh-out-loud hilarious. I haven’t had this much fun since the Chocoholic series! Belle, Ariel and Cindy were a fantastic trio that had me snorting and trying unsuccessfully to explain scenes to my husband (who now thinks I’m a lunatic).
While Belle and Ariel will certainly have their own books, this one focused on Cindy, the repressed, reserved, downtrodden wife of the group. When her husband unexpectedly divorces her and leaves her with no money, she does everything she can to hold on to her perfect life on Fairytale Lane. But when reality hits and the bills come in, she needs to think of something fast. Enter the most unlikely duo to help her out: Belle, with her wealth of useless knowledge, and Ariel, with her unbelievably foul mouth and no filter. From the moment these three princesses run screaming from a bachelor party, through Ariel coaching Cindy to scream foul mouthed obscenities in her kitchen, to Cindy’s happily ever after with her Prince Charming, this story was a pure joy to read.
Belle will get her Beast and Ariel will get her Eric and I can’t wait to enjoy those stories as well. Tara Sivec was creative in her retelling of these Disney classics with a raunchy twist, and I for one will never look at the princesses the same again!
This is At The Stroke Of Midnight, book one of the Naughty Princess Club written by Tara Sivec. If you have never read an original book by Ms Sivec then you really should expand your horizons! She has an innate gift of being able to write most amazing potty mouth, sarcastic, tongue in cheek, dirty dry humping goodness, while still making her characters totally believable. You will want to be a member of the naughty princess club by the time you get done. I’m willing to place a bet on the fact... Kmsl. I love Cynthia, Arial and Belle as they try to maneuver the world as each of their own sole providers. And HOLY SMOKES, don’t you forget about PJ Charming. Buckle up folks, you won’t put it down until the last word and it’s gonna be a bumpy ride! I can’t wait for the rest of the series!! Run, don’t walk, to your nearest retailer and snag this book! You will not be sorry!!
Oh my god!!!! This book was HILARIOUS!
I've only read one other book by Tara and that was Seduction and Snacks. So I knew going in, this would probably be hilarious too. And boy, I couldn't stop laughing.
When I heard that this series was based of Disney princesses, I was all in. I'm a HUGE Disney nerd so this made me super happy. It's funny to see all the little elements from this "world" of princesses.
Seriously, this book was hilarious and so freaking good!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 STARS
At the Stroke Midnight is a highly entertaining story of friendship! Tara Sivec hit a homerun with this one! She never ceases to amaze me. There has not been one book that I haven’t loved. She has easily become one of my favorite authors over the years. I look forward to what she will come up with next. She has a kick for humor! As usual I was LOLing which earned me some looks but what better way to share this story than by letting them know that they absolutely must pick this up the minute it releases!
Cindy a.k.a Cinderella is picking up the pieces of her life after she was blind sighted by her cheating husband who has left her with nothing and she has a daughter to take care of. She becomes friends with fowl mouthed Ariel and sweet innocent Isabelle. These three women are loosely based on the Disney Princesses. They are mistakenly taken for strippers while dressing as princesses in an attempt to better all of their situations and make some money. Cindy is set on finding herself and breaking away from the quiet meek woman her husband wanted her to be.
PJ comes to the rescue more than once. He finds her annoying banter cute.
This is a story of friendship! If you love a good girlfriend read this is it!!!
At the Stroke of Midnight is the first installment of the Naughty Princess Club by Tara Sivec.
It’s hard to find a good story with a balance between fairytale’s and the modern era we live in. However, Tara Sivec seems to have it in spades. At the Stroke of Midnight, has a great mixture of sass, wit and sexy moments that will have anyone hooked. I personally loved that Cynthia wasn’t going to just wallow while her ex-husband marries the babysitter. Instead, you could say Cynthia does a bit of a 180 of her life after meeting Ariel and Belle at a Halloween block party.
These ladies don’t need a Prince for they have each other…
I look forward to reading more of the Naughty Princess Club, for Tara Sivec has me hooked.
Side Note: Couldn’t help, but have the song Cinderella by the Cheetah Girls playing as I wrote this review. If you haven’t read it, go check it out!
This is my favorite series from Tara Sivec. I loved every moment of this story. I can’t wait for the rest of the girls stories. Highly recommend!
Everyone need to read At The Stroke of Midnight by Tara Sivec because it is hilarious romance read that you will not put down once you started.
At The Stroke of Midnight starts unexpectedly. Cynthia find herself in debt since her no-good husband left unexpectedly with all their money and the babysitter. That was the most dirty thing to do to anyone especially to your own wife and children, which he did. Cynthia is in full denial when her no-good husband left. She keeps putting a brave face but things don't go too well when everything starts to fall apart. She has no idea what to do but she gets to bond with two unique yet sassy women, Ariel and Isabelle.
They both bond together about their struggles in life that they unexpectedly form a business together. It may be unconventional but it seems the best idea ever: stripper business. But they. have no idea how to be stripper or to be in business. It is absolutely hilarious to read where they are trying to figure out. They are too much but they are in it together. I love it about them.
They are going to struggle how to go about it but they get an unwilling help from stripper club owner, PJ Charming. PJ Charming has so much in him that he is perfect for Cynthia. He is willing help her no matter what. That's completely support since most men will not let their women strip. But it is a new age and PJ Charming is completely support of her dreams. Love it.
Cynthia will discover a lot about her self than before. It is a wonderful thing. She gets to know her true self. And PJ Charming along the way is a plus too.
At The Stroke of Midnight will bring a tale that will make you laugh nonstop. Four Stars.
I loved this story! Funny and sweet and sexy! Loved the plot, characters, everything!!!
I can't get enough of the characters!!!!
I knew the story was going to be hilarious! Tara Sivec always bring us the funniest and sexiest stories and This one was so amazing!
This was a sweet, fun read but it just fell a little short for me on the humor front and at times, I just found my attention wavering. Overall, this was just an ok read for me.
At The Stroke Of Midnight is a super fun retelling of Cinderella. The Naughty Princess Club is formed when Cynthia, Isabelle and Ariel need to find a way to support themselves. They take the lemons that life has given them and make some amazing spiked lemonade!!
“I don’t think this is a children’s princess party!” I shout over the noise of the rambunctious men as a shower of dollar bills land at my feet. One of the men yells “TAKE IT OFF!”
After being abandoned, divorced and left with no money by her husband, Cindy is just trying to keep up appearances for the PTA and her neighbors. But together with Belle and Ariel, she learns to shake off the persona that her ex-husband and MiL have built around her and she starts shaking something else!
“You are NOT going to die sexless and alone with anything stuck in your cookie, aside from another much larger, much more enjoyable frickle,” Ariel reassures me.”
I adore this really humorous series of steamy fairytales that are entertaining and loaded with heart and heat!!

"You're sexy and beautiful and young enough to shop anywhere you damn well please."
"The Naughty Princess club! That's what we should name our business."
This book had a bit more than I expected (insert sex scenes here), but the story was funny, empowering and had great characters, one with a bit of a potty mouth, I did enjoy it.
Once upon a time... three Beautiful women lived on or near Fairytale Lane.. Cynthia (Cindy Ella) is the main character in this book. She is a newly divorced woman, with a teenage daughter named Anastasia, who struggles to make ends meet. Her husband left with their previous babysitter, emptied the bank accounts and stole five million dollars from his parents. Cindy's life echos that of Cinderella in the fairytale. Her widowed father remarried a woman with two daughters. He died and she was left taking care of them as well as being treated like crap by her mother and step-sisters. Brian, her ex-husband, rescued her from a small apartment and working two jobs, only to abandon her and his daughter years later. Ariel is a single woman with the looks of a princess and the mouth of a trucker. She was also abandoned by her husband and lost her antique business as a result of having to pay him alimony. She is now selling off her antiques to survive. She had a one night stand with Cindy's husband and is trying to reform her. "Take the stick out of your butt" is one of her favourite sayings. Belle is a quiet librarian who still lives with her father. Cindy and Ariel want to bring her out of her cocoon and start to live.
The three ladies are all dressed up as princesses at the neighbourhood Hallowe'en party. They are offered a job to entertain at a party and they are excited to earn $3000.00 to entertain at a children's party. How wrong they are. It is a birthday party and the ladies have been hired as strippers. The laughs do not stop from that point on in the story. The girls were a bit over the top, everything exaggerated a bit, but that made it even more funny. The fairytale references were great. The strip club is called Charmings, Cindy's love interest is called PJ (if you know the story you will understand the significance) and the bouncer at the club is named Beast, I wonder who his love interest will be. My only complaint is there is some well described sex scenes in the story, but I just skimmed them and it did not diminish the storyline at all. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
Tara Sivec is a rom-com genius!! Every book of hers I've ever read makes me laugh, shake my head and try to remember the crazy terminology her characters use. Each book has at least 1 new term that will stick with me. And they're always hysterical and completely fit the bill!
This series is about 3 women who get together unexpectedly because they all need money. Each book will be a "princess'" story. This was Cynthia's. Aka Cinderella. There is sassy Ariel (The Little Mermaid) and Belle (Beauty & The Beast). Cindy is so uptight, straight-laced and total Stepford wife until Ariel enters her world. And man does she rock it! But when Cindy breaks out of her shell and lives her life how she wants to, you are just cheering for her and "You Go Girl" yelling for her!
I can't wait for Belle's story! She needs to break out of her shell and I love the interactions between her and Beast.
Oh, how I love this book. At the Stroke of Midnight is more than just a story of romance. There is also so much women empowerment that I’m so delightful to read. Having read a few Tara Sivec’s, I already know what to expect and it certainly didn’t disappoint. If anything, it exceeded my expectations. It is sexy and absolutely hilarious, I had a smile on my face from the first page up until the last one. It is definitely something you won’t be able to put down once you started. As usual, the writing is great and the set of characters are lovely. I can’t help but root for them. Especially Cynthia. Her character development into a confident and independent, kick-ass woman is amazing. The way she discovered how powerful and liberating taking her clothes off can be. And PJ is more than just a prince as he fully supports Cynthia in her career/business. Very charming, indeed. The positive portrayal of exotic dancers is something to be admired as well. I also adore the unlikely yet strong friendship that formed between the three women. The banters between Cynthia and Ariel are laugh-out-loud funny. Despite the constant humor though, there are still some serious issues that were covered which are handled pretty well. Overall, is a hilarious and sexy romantic comedy that is about self-discovery and empowering women. A totally fun read that left me wanting for more as I hit the last page. I love it!
Holy Cow I enjoyed this book so much!
I think everyone knows what it feels like to lose yourself.
This author gives us a story full of humor and discovery as the heroine works to rediscover herself after life as she knew it falls apart.
Cynthia finds that maybe her great life wasn't so great. And maybe she is allowed to swear out loud.
At one time I laughed so hard I cried!
I love the best friends too. And the hero in this story is all broody and hot of course.
Seriously I can't say how much I loved this book!
Cindy's on her own after her husband left her and her daughter for the nanny. Now with no money she has to learn how to survive without her husband. Cindy meets the new neighbour Ariel and the girl on the next street over, whom still lives with her dad, Belle. They happenstance meeting happens at a block halloween party where are three are wearing princess dresses.
A wrong assumption of the princesses turns into a new business venture, now they just have to learn how to strip and get the confidence to actually do it.
Cindy has seen a handsome stranger a few times and lo and behold he also happens to own the local strip club, where Cindy can learn how to strip but what she doesn't expect to find is her HEA at a strip club.
"Welcome home, Zero Fucks Given Barbie. Welcome home,"
The friendship between the three is so funny, and the shenanigans that these three get into are hilarious.
Cant wait for more from this series
