I did not know this series and did not even know that the prequel is divided into 3 parts, and this one is the second one. That is, I started reading already with the impression that I had lost something very important.

But what I understood was Janie and Brent fell in love almost instantly - even if the circumstances were not good - and now, she is in danger, when a serial killer is after her.
Brent, as the gentleman in silver armor he is, will do anything to protect her- but wasn't Janie a cop? Suppose she has some self-defense training, right?

Quite a novel way to read a prequel but very disappointed that Twisted Fate is not on Netgalley, will not be reading anything else by this author.

After reading Shattered Fear I knew I needed to read this one. So many questions that the author still has me guessing on. Who is pulling the strings? What does she know that she doesn't realize? Who is carrying out the orders of the Gentleman?

When Janie and Brent went to the city they thought they left it all behind for a few days. They find out how mistaken they are. When they come back home everything starts escalating and they're looking at everyone from a different view point.

Cannot wait to read the last book in this series. Would have liked to be able to read them as one book though.

I read this novella with reading the prior book [book:Shattered Fear|35399851] - Big Mistake!! This series of novellas should absolutely be read in order. Now after reading the first book I can appreciate this book so much more. The characters are intriguing and the mystery and suspense elements of the story are fantastic. The writing at times wasn't clear to me but overall the point got across. Can't wait to see how this story wraps up in the next novella.

I would recommend this one with the caveat that you need to read each of these in order.

This novella picked up right where Shattered Fear left off. I am still enjoying this series so far. Not loving it, but enjoying it. There is something a little amateurish with the writing at times, but the mystery aspect has me hooked, and the characters are quite likable. I'm definitely onboard to see how this wraps up in the last novella. And I am looking forward to seeing how this author handles a full-length book.

In Hidden Fate we revisit the couple we met in Shattered Fear, and continue to follow them on their journey, and just as the first installment this one is thrilling, dangerous, and lots of fun to devour!

Janie has since been relived of her position with the force, but that doesn't seem to deter her from wanting to hunt down the man referred to the Gentleman, the one who seems to have his sights set on her and wanting her dead. So, of course the game of cat and mouse is still in full force, as is her developing relationship with wealthy businessman Brent Taylor. Brent is determined to keep her safe, and thinks taking their relationship to the next level, and sharing a home together might just be a way to do that, but Janie has her reservations. So there is a lot to be discovered, and some things left up in the air, and sure to be answered in the next installment, can't wait to get my hands on it, and get my answers!!

If you like romantic suspense then I highly recommend you check this series out, it sure to keep you on the edge of your seat and flying through the pages!!

Roses are red. Janie will never be safe as the killer is still out there and he coming for her. He loves to play games with her and that is making her even more scared & angry. Brent knows that the only way that he can keep her safe is to get her to move in with him. But that isn't the only reason he wants her to be with him now & in the future. Janie knows that there is something that she is missing it is right in front of her. Will she see it in time or will it be too late? And who is Bea's secret man hopefully he is good for her. I want to find out who the gentleman is as he has far too much power for my liking. A good short novella not my favorite one though. I received a copy via netgalley & the publishing house in exchange for my honest review.

This is a good bridging novella. It kept my attention with its pace and suspense. I enjoyed the unpredictability of the killer and not knowing how far he/she was going to take it. I would have liked a few more twists (I think the killer is pretty obvious but again, I think the twists are going to come in the full novel when we get deeper into this world).

I know its a novella and you can only do so much with the page count, but I found the romance was a little rushed. But don't get me wrong, I really love the two of them together and I get why they are drawn to each other. Certainly the situation Janie finds herself in has escalated things faster than normal. It's just that it took away a touch of the realism this story had had up until this point.

I'm still on the edge of my seat though, waiting to see what happens in the next novella and how this will lead into the full novels.

*This is part of a series of novellas, that really must be read in order to get the full effect* It's been awhile since I've binge read an author. But Tara Thomas has me hooked and I've read all of this series so far. I'm not patiently waiting for book 3! I am looking forward to finding out about The Gentleman - I have so many ideas darn it!

I don't want to give anything more away but to say the characters are fabulous, the suspense is gripping and carries over between books, While you can read out of order, you learn pieces that may help you later in each book.

2 Janie does not have a gun Stars

I received this from the publisher and was so excited!! I have never read a Tara Sue Me book but when I learned she also wrote romantic suspense as Tara Thomas I decided to pop in and burst my author cherry!

so going in I knew this was a novella to help me ease into romantic suspense by this author.. what I got was:

serious intalove to including moving 13 hours to live with him
a cop that literally sucks a ton at being a cop
a male MC that thinks money solves problems
a stalker who likes playing with his prey
and a freaking headache.

so lets talk about why it didn't find its way to one star..
the stalker aspect was perfect!!!
the ending loved it!!!

so basically I'm pro bad guy in this book and I don't care about our MC's.

The second book took up right where the first ended, which I liked. Janie and Brent break all the rules with there relationship with her on the force. More questions are asked in this book and a lot of obstacles pop up. Now some one is after Janie and wants alive. Can Brent keep her safe or does the killer win? Not disappointing for a second book, can't wait for the last with some definite answers. Honest review in exchange for ARC.

Hidden Fate is the second novella in the Sons of Broad series and picks up right where Shattered Fear left us. Whoever has been snatching and killing the girls has ramped up their efforts in stalking Janie. Much of this book is Brent and Janie wracking their brains trying to figure out who it could be.

Now that Janie has been released from the police force, her and Brent are left to their own devices of trying to figure out what clues they may be missing. Her friend Alyssa has been assigned to the case and she and her boyfriend, Mac do what they can to provide info to Janie without getting Alyssa in trouble. Janie feels like she's missing something, but can't quite put her finger on it.

Brent has been struggling with a job offer he's been offered in Washington D.C. but now that Janie doesn't work for the force anymore, what is left to keep her in Charleston? Can he talk her into going with him? The feelings he has for Janie are unlike any he's ever experienced with a woman before, and he knows this is the real deal. Does she feel the same way?

We get a few little glimpses of the mysterious Gentleman, who is putting the pressure on the stalker to get things handled, otherwise he's going to demand the stalker's own girlfriend for his "collection" Hmmm I can't wait to find out exactly what this collection is.

Again the suspense builds to a crescendo at the end, and just when Janie comes to the realization she knows who her stalker is, we end on another little cliffhanger!

I like how Tara is building this story up and leading us to the dramatic conclusion. At least, I hope that's where we're heading! I don't know how much more suspense I can take!

On to Twisted End to see what happens!

NetGalley and St. Martin's Press provided me an advance copy of the book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

This is the first book I have read by Tara Thomas, and I enjoyed Hidden Fate a great deal. I received a digital ARC from the publisher via Net Galley with the promise to read and review in advance of publication. My opinions are my own and are not influenced by that fact.

Hidden Fate is a fast-paced, exciting read. While it doesn’t meet the traditional criteria for a romance, it definitely does as a thriller. I totally enjoyed the plot and the building of tension. The story pulled me in from the start.

Janie’s character is engaging, and I liked her right away. She got a raw deal from her employer which helped me become invested in her character. Since this is a short novella, her character development is better than I normally see in this type of book.

Brent’s character also pulled me in. He is a stand-up kind of guy with no hidden agendas. I would have liked to know more about his inner thoughts and his background, but again, this is a very short novella designed to tease the reader and make them want to read more. It certainly did that for me.

Janie and Brent are already in a relationship so I didn’t get to experience them falling in love, but the attraction between them is strong, and I can easily see them as life-long lovers.

The focus of this book is plot-driven and it’s done very well. Ms. Thomas is clearly a master at suspense, and it comes through loud and clear in Hidden Fate. I’m glad I decided to read this book, and I can’t wait to read more in the next installment. I do want to mention this is a cliff hanger, so make sure you have Twisted End downloaded as the story continues in it. Happy reading!

**3.5 stars** Hidden Fate is the second of three prequel novellas in Tara Thomas’s new Sons of Broad series. The story picks up right where the first novella (Shattered Fear) left off. **spoilers ahead if you have not read the first novella in the series**

Janie Roberts (a cop) has received flowers and a note threatening her life from the man who has been kidnapping and murdering women from a local “Gentleman’s Club” in Charleston. She’s recently been fired from her job since getting involved with wealthy businessman Brent Taylor, who at one time was a possible suspect in her case. Luckily, she has her friend and former co-worker Alyssa working on the case.

Janie and Brent’s relationship is growing stronger and Brent will do anything to keep her safe. He wants her to move in with him, not just because of what’s happening, but because his feelings have grown very strong for Janie. He’s also possibly taking a job in Washington, DC. What does that mean for their relationship? Will they have a long-distance relationship? Would Janie move with him to DC?

As things escalate with the threats to her life, Janie and Brent are even more determined to find out who the serial kidnapper/killer is. But as they put together all they know about him and figure out it might be someone they know; will they be able to catch the killer before Janie herself is another victim?

NOTE: This novella ends on another cliff-hanger, but I’m looking forward to reading the last novella to see how the story ends.

The 3 novellas release a week apart from each other (2/6-Shattered Fear, 2/13-Hidden Fate, Twisted End-2/20) and the first full length book Darkest Night (different characters) releases February 27th!

This book follows Shattered Fear and continues the story of Janie and Brent.
As the threats increase toward Janie, it's obvious someone wants her dead. We have a mystery man who is taking orders from a second mystery man. Brent is ever vigilant and protective of Janie and Janie is still trying to piece together pieces of the puzzle. Some things start to click into place ever so slowly and Tara really weaves this one on a long thread. Think you know? Yeah, but you don't.
Janie's co worker Alyssa has been helping Janie while still filling her role as a cop as well but somethings off with her also. As the threats get closer and closer, Janie is still trying hard to figure this out. She's so invested in this and obviously now since she's a target but for what reason?
She and Brent make a couple of life decisions and they prepare to move forward. As the screws get tightened my the man behind the curtain, it puts more pressure on the our second sick puppy. Quite an interesting combination. And yes, a total cliffhanger at the end of this one. Now we sit on our hands and wait.
I think Sons of Broad looks like it will be a good series to read. This is another short read that moved along and kept me turning my pages.

Can we talk about this cover for a minute!? I know you don't know this, but it's so perfect for this novella! I just love it! Anyway, this book picks up where Shattered Fear left off and it held me hostage. I couldn't put it down. This was a very fast read for me. Brent wants to protect his girlfriend at all costs now that there is danger lurking ahead. The danger speeds up their timeline and propels their relationship a little faster than if things were going well for them. I enjoyed watching the relationship between Brent and Janie grow, her new relationship with Bea. Due to everything going on around them, Janie and Alyssa haven't been able to get together to discuss anything. And the hits keep coming! Due to the fact that the reader knows the conversations happening between The Gentleman and his henchman, the things happening aren't unexpected but they aren't known so I felt like I was on the edge of my seat waiting with Janie to find these things out. And the ending! WHEW! Hang on! You'll want Twisted End to be able to see what happens next to poor Janie! I certainly can't wait to find out how things will end up.

This novella picked up right where the first one ended. No page fillers or anything and I appreciate that. I love being able to pick up a book and not feel like I'm being run around in a circle.

Janie and Brent are still trying to figure out who is after her and they realize she isn't safe anywhere. While they try to keep each other safe, it's hard not knowing who is after her. Or why.

This is a very short story and ends in a cliffhanger but answers the question of who it is. Now we just need to figure out the why. I'm excited to keep reading!

2.5 Stars.

I think I'd have preferred if the author had released all of these novellas as one short novel because I found it really hard to connect to the characters in this format.

This was a quick read and I was annoyed because just as I was getting invested, it ended, but not in a way that had me aching to read the next instalment.

I liked the characters well enough and sometimes Brent endeared me to him but I didn't feel like kind of chemistry I wanted out of this (especially because it was so short).

I also wish the mystery had been more suspenseful. I found it really predictable. I wish I had enjoyed this more.

I should start off by saying that I have not read any of the previous books in this series. That being said, I was easily able to jump right into Janie and Brent's story. Hidden Fate is a fast paced and thrilling novel. It hits the ground running and will have you captivated the entire time. I loved the game of cat and mouse. I enjoyed trying to figure out who was after Janie and who the "gentleman" was. I loved the multiple points of view. I think it really added to the thrill and mystery of the story. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat and the ending left me begging for more! I can't wait to get my hands on the next novella and see how their story is going to play out.
