I read The Breakdown a while ago and I knew I needed to read more by her. When I saw Bring Me Back on NetGalley I instantly hit request and I did not regret it one bit.
The storytelling sucked you in and wouldn't let you go. I read every night until my eyes burned and I was about to fall asleep. I was reading it between jobs and attempted reading on the treadmill. Unfortunately I forgot my eyes aren't used to reading without glasses anymore.

I loved every single character. Normally there's at least one I cringe when they come on the scene but there wasn't one! I thought I would know how everyone would act in a given scenario but then another layer was added to the story and it was completely different. There were so many different layers to the story and I never knew what would happen next.  I am falling more in love with B.A. Paris's novels with every one I read.

I had so many theories running through my head so obviously one of them was right and it was the one Regina from Bookish In Bed put in my head kind of early on... and I fought against it the entire time.

The only problem I had was toward the end, during a kind of key turning point there was a flaw logically. However, spoilers.

If you haven't read anything by B.A. Paris I highly suggest you start.

** not included in review **
The part about the email login is the part that was a flaw logically. No matter which computer they use that login information on they would still be able to get in. It doesn't prove that Ellen was sending the emails.

Review will go live June 4th. I may add more to the review though nothing will be cut.

I enjoyed the first half of this very much. The mystery surrounding Layla’s disappearance at the pit stop pulled me in and when things first started escalating I was totally hooked. Gradually though I found myself feeling a bit annoyed with Finn and I worked out the ending soon after half way so there was no big surprise finale for me. All in all it’s a pick but with reservations

I had previously read The Breakdown By B.A. Paris last year and I loved it. So I was super excited when Bring Me Back on Netgalley. I just knew I had to request. Of course B.A. Paris does it once again! I ended up really enjoying this book a lot.

Plot:
The story is about Finn who has a successful career and has just recently purposed to his girlfriend, Ellen. Things are going good for him but his past still haunts him. Years ago, Finn's ex-girlfriend, Layla ended up going missing while they were on vacation in France. Nobody has seen Layla since then. Layla also happens to be Ellen's sister. Now back to the present, these little Russian dolls start popping up. Only Ellen, Finn, and Layla know the significance of them. Finn begins to question if Layla has come back after all this or if the person who kidnapped Layla so many years ago is playing games with him.

I really enjoyed this story. I felt like it kept me on my toes. I ended up reading it very quickly because I ended up having so many questions. I needed to know if it was actually Layla or if it was someone who was just messing with Finn. I felt B.A. Paris is great at revealing information. She knows how to give you the right amount of information with out giving too much away. So that really kept me hooked on this book. I was surprised that I actually figured out one of the reveals of this book. I feel I am usually oblivious to certain things and I'll have my guesses but I'm usually wrong. It was nice to be right for once. Even though I figured out a major part of the book it didn't ruin my experience because there was more to the reveal. So I only figured out a little part. I was still very surprised by the end of the book.

Characters:
I have to say when I first started reading this I thought the main character was a female. I guess I am just always use to there usually being a female main character. Not to say I wasn't disappointing in the male main character. I wasn't a huge fan of him. At the beginning of the book you learn he's a decent guy but he does have some anger issues. So I found that to be a bit unsettling at times. I did end up liking the side characters more. They were very supportive of Finn and all he was going through. I did like that they really cared for him and had his back no matter what. I feel it's always very important to have a good support system. Especially since Finn has gone through so much.

Writing:
I said previously how much I enjoyed B.A. Paris's writing. She does a very good job at pacing the book. She slowly releases shock bombs. She let's those sink in and describes it. She ends up giving you more detail about the information that you just learned. Then when she feels you're not expecting it she releases another shock bomb. It kept me intrigued the whole book. I didn't want to put this book down. Especially when I got to the end. I was dying to know what happened and had to stop a couple of times and it was torture. I felt she wrapped up the story very nicely. I ended up really enjoying the ending a lot.

Overall I thought this was such a great read. B.A. Paris is becoming one of my favorite authors. I can't wait for this book to come out on June 19th so you all can read it. My friend that I buddy read this with, Jenna from J.K. I'm Exploring, picked our next buddy read and it's Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris. I can't wait to say I read all of B.A. Paris's books. She is such a talented author. I can't wait to see what she comes out with next.

I’ve had B.A. Paris on my radar for a while and I’m so glad to have finally read a book by her. Bring Me Back has just enough suspense to keep the pages turning and the right amount of twists to keep you guessing. I loved every minute of this read.

I highly suggest going into this with no further knowledge than the synopsis. There are plenty of times where you begin to question events or people and it's best to have no previous idea of what the truth is. I wouldn't say I was blown away by the twists, but there were a few I didn't figure out and I loved never knowing where the plot was heading.

This book is pure thriller entertainment and my tbr has officially gotten longer with the back list of Paris' books I just added to it.

Unsettling in the best possible way!!!

Does anyone put the “psychology” into psychological thriller quite as well as B. A. Paris??? Paris really has a way with messed up characters and disturbing situations. This book is a mind game from the first chapter right through the very last page. I finished this book two days ago and the story is haunting me! What a great read!

As happens with Paris, early reviews are largely positive, with a mix of “did-not-finish”. Most of those seem to struggle connecting with the characters. I urge readers to give this book time! You don’t always have to like all of the characters to enjoy the ride. And I think some characters will ultimately surprise you—all are not telling the full story right away, which made the development points for each character so compelling. This is a book that grows in suspense and makes you uneasy, right along with the characters.

Finn is living the Bachelor life in London when he meets Layla. Instantly, Finn forgets his current girlfriend and develops strong feelings for the enigmatic Layla. A year into their relationship Finn and his Layla are on their way home from a vacation in France, when they pull over so Finn can use the restroom. He is gone only a few minutes, and when he returns Layla’s door is open and she is missing. Finn looks everywhere but Layla is gone…

Now

Finn has moved away from his cottage with Layla to a new home in Simonsbridge. After a long grieving period, Finn moved on to other relationships before falling for Ellen, whom he has just gotten engaged to. But Ellen isn’t just any woman, she’s Layla’s older sister. Ignoring the gossip from those who remember the story of Layla’s disappearance, Finn and Ellen have created a wonderful, happy life together.

Until one day Ellen find a small token on the wall outside their house…

The token is innocuous to all but Ellen and Finn. You see, there is only one person outside of themselves who could possibly know the meaning of this token…Layla. But how can that be? Is it possible Layla is still alive?

The premise of the story was enough to make me read this book, but I also have to say that Finn’s struggle to comprehend the meaning of the events is what kept me hooked. I wouldn’t say I particularly connected with Finn, but I did feel so much empathy for him. Finn in a way is his own worst enemy. He is such a passionate person, and so was Layla. This is what drew them together. Ellen is Layla’s opposite in so many ways, and yet she is good for Finn, if only he will let her be. But you can see his struggle to truly forget the past.

The love of Finn and Layla was entirely different from the love Finn shares with Ellen. Sometimes I wanted to shake him and say “why can’t you let yourself be happy?!?!?” But of course, you can’t. One thing that was particularly engaging about the storyline was the lack of closure. As much as Finn wants to convince himself that Layla is likely dead, her disappearance and lack of finality leaves that small part in his brain that makes him wonder if it is possible she did survive somehow. That lack of closure would drive anyone mad, particularly when the token shows up.

Finn’s heart is fighting with his mind. He knows the likelihood that Layla is still alive but hasn’t made contact with anyone for 12 years is nearly impossible, and yet he wants it to be true. The story is somewhat slow, but steady. It is never stagnant. This was one that I looked forward to diving back into each time I had to put it down. I’m so thrilled that B. A. Paris has continued to write such compelling novels, and I look forward to her next one!

My sincerest gratitude to St. Martin’s Press, NetGalley, and B. A. Paris for providing me an Advanced Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I was a huge fan of “Behind Closed Doors”, so I was very excited to receive this ARC. Unfortunately, the book did not live up to my expectations. I would have liked to learn more about other characters besides Finn or more about the original love story, so I could connect more or like them. It started off okay, I was intrigued to learn more. Once I hit the second part, it dragged and I just reading in hopes that it would get better. It didn’t. The ending left me thinking “This is what you expect me to believe”.
PRO: Quick read, keeps you guessing for a bit as to where the story leads
CONS: Unlikeable/boring characters, the ending/twist seemed improbable and somewhat predictable, story drags in the middle, ending seemed rushed and too neat

As usual, B.A. Paris has written a book that keeps you entertained until the end. I liked this book quite a lot, but I felt like I figured out the plot twist rather early. However, there were still a lot of details that kept it interesting and kept me questioning if I had actually figured it out. I'd say this is a three and half stars from me. I love B.A.'s mind and writing style. I cannot wait to see what she comes up with next.

This book was provided to me by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

2.5 stars
This book grips you from the beginning and becomes a constant roller-coaster of ups and downs. As much as I loved this author's last two novels, this one however fell short with me. The plot is implausible and the mystery part of it has been over done by many other authors. If you want an easy to read and easy to solve mystery I would recommend this book. The author has a way of writing that you'll devour this in one sitting.

Bring Me Back was a huge disappointment. Another reviewer called it cheesy, and I'd have to agree. read in Jan.

I’m not sure how to review this. I enjoyed this read but am not sure I was really satisfied at the end. I did not have it figured out. Looking back I can see how some things that were mentioned suddenly fit, but I also feel that there were a couple instances that really didn’t. It didn’t come together cleanly. I was kind of disappointed at the end. I was waiting for the showdown.

*****Spoiler*****
Why would Layla push Finn to kill Ellen? How did Finn not notice large orders of dolls coming to the house? He very purposefully beat Ellen to the mail for quite some time.

What a page-turner! I spent two late nights reading this book. The story line was unlike any I'd read before and great twists and turns along the way. I hope to read more by this author very soon!

BA Paris has a knack for suspense that keeps the reader hooked and guessing what might happen next with clues strewn throughout.
Finn has moved on more than 10 years after his girlfriend, Layla, went missing, but when things get serious with his new girlfriend, he is haunted by thoughts of Layla. He finds himself questioning whether Layla really could be back to show her disapproval, or if someone else in his life is unhappy enough with the union to scare him.

The beginning of this book was so engrossing I couldn’t put it down. The author does an amazing job of pulling you in and not alienating you with the truth about the narrator. Most of the books in the latest fad of missing persons books with the unreliable narrator have a narrator that is grating and just plain unlikeable. Finn reveals very quickly that he has a dark side and did not tell the whole truth about his girlfriend’s disappearance but the author writes so well it doesn’t matter. She also skillfully used flashbacks, which I normally despise, to show us Finn and Layla before she disappeared in alternating chapters with the present. The plot draws you in wondering what really happened with Layla. I do think it lost itself in the middle when a second narrator was added. It was still a good read but not as great as the beginning. It’s easy to figure out the twist but I enjoyed the author having the red herring play out. Normally you don’t get to see the other option investigated like that. I am now going to check out the author’s previous books.

Wow! What an ending! This book really sucked me in from the beginning. My mind was going every which way and then finally I somewhat figured it out. But, the how & why was really the turning point in this book.

Overall I really enjoyed the writing and the story was as equally intriguing! I definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes psychological thrillers. It’s one of my favorites this year!

I love this author, but was a little disappointed in this book. Behind Closed Doors was one of my all time favorite books, but Bring Me Back was predictable.

Bring Me Back puts the reader on edge from the opening chapter. The pages contain an underlying sense of doom and you know that the story is not going to end well. Part one of the book tells Finn's story in flashes of now and in the past. Layla disappearance weighs heavy on Finn but the reader is never quite sure what actually happened. Part two and part three begins Layla's side of the story while flashing to Finn currently. With a growing sense of anxiety, the pages flow quickly as the reader realizes not everything is as it should be. Finn begins to doubt everything and the reader does right along with him. You wait for the other shoe to drop because you know it is going too as the psychological cat and mouse game unfolds. With twists and turns like a curvy mountain road, the story unfolds differently than first predicted but like a big flashing sign of danger that is just ahead. I started out just knowing where this story was going but by Part three I had to throw those notions aside and embrace the truth of the end that was coming. Finn is overall not a very sympathetic character but neither is Layla. Even though I did not like them much the story compelled me to know the ending. Nail biting and nerve racking, the story does not disappoint. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.

Psychological thriller at its best! I loved the fast pace of this story! I couldn't wait to find out what happened next. The author really kept me guessing. Excellent read!

Ever since reading B.A. Paris' book The Breakdown I have been beyond excited to get my hands on a copy of this book. Thanks to NetGalley, that became possible! This book was addictive just like every book she has written. A great mystery that will throw you for a loop in the end.

This book is about Finn and his girlfriend Layla who are traveling on holiday through France when he stops at a roadside truck stop to use the bathroom, leaving Layla alone in the car. When he returns to the car her door is ajar and she's nowhere to be found. No one ever sees or hears from her again. Fast forward ten years he's engaged to be married and happy with good friends that have been there for him through his rough times. Everything seems to be perfect until something from his lost girlfriend's past mysteriously shows up at his cottage that only him, Layla, and his now fiancee (his lost girlfriend's sister by the way) know about. Weird things start happening that make him question if Layla is back or is someone playing games with him.

This was a great book that I could not put down and I'm sure no one will be prepared for the ending. B.A. Paris once again crafts an amazing novel of mystery that will have you guessing till the end.

I was automatically intrigued by the premise of "Bring Me Back," but apprehensive to read another novel by B.A. Paris. My book club read "Behind Closed Doors" last year and while the story itself was great, we found the writing choppy and elementary.

I was so pleased to see that was not the case with "Bring Me Back!" The writing flowed and pulled me into the story completely. I read this book in a matter of days - it was such a fast and easy read, and I could not put it down!

Going back and forth between the two characters perspectives - Finn and Layla - was a terrific way to give the reader insight and build a connection to each character, while maintaining the suspense of the plot. I've already recommended it to my book club and am excited to read more from B.A. Paris to see how her writing style has evolved. She has great ideas and knows how to come up with some interesting (at times crazy) psychological story-lines!
