Sometimes you just need one of these books to take your mind off things. This is a clever well-written mystery that you want to finish preferably in one go. I did figure it out about halfway through, but it didn't make a difference because you still want to know the why. I certainly don't think everyone would figure it out either. The plot is good and the characters are well developed, so it makes for a few hours of great entertainment. If you have a few days off, this is an exciting read.
This was a fast paced thrill ride. From the onset you are brought into a mystery. What happened to Layla? Is she alive or dead? What really happened? Does Finn know the truth? Is he lying to himself? Does he just not remember?
I could not put this book down. I was hooked from beginning to end. I was unsure whether or not to trust Finn but finally felt he was reliable. Ellen was so sweet and good you couldn't help but feel sorry for her.
I highly recommend this book to everyone!!
I received an ARC from NetGalley and St. Martin's Press. Thank you so much for such a fantastic book.
I absolutely love B A Paris and knew when I started reading this book that there would be. A twist that I never saw coming. Oh my goodness, I wasn’t disappointed! I planned to go to sleep over an hour ago, butbinjustbeanted to finish one more page!! Fantastic, thank you for giving me the opportunity to read this book before it’s general release.?
This book is by far the best book that B.A. Paris has written. Her first was also amazing, but not quite the puzzle this one entangled readers in. And the second very well written, but too predictable for thriller fans. So, while I was excited to try this one, because even if predictable Paris always gives readers something that is well written and great to read,I got the shock of a lifetime! The reason being is Paris made sure to entangle the reader of this book and immerse them in a web, which you can't untangle from, but also don't want too! You will be flipping through the pages of this roller coaster of a book all while holding your breathe and know this author is here to write some of the best psychological thrillers there is to offer to the readers of suspense! Preorder today, you won't regret!
While on vacation Finn reports his girlfriend Layla missing. 12 years after her disappearance, we find our guy Finn is "happily" engaged to Ellen. (Oh, Ellen happens to be his missing girlfriend's sister). Without being spoilery; things happen that make the new couple think his first love Layla is back and a bit unhinged.
I think the book has an awesome plot. The pacing is bit slow at times. As for the characters; I really disliked Finn. Oh how I hated Finn!!! Which was fine with me, my loathing of him actually fueled my interest in finishing the book (you know.. hoping he had a horrible and painfull ending) If the plot sounds like your cup of tea you should pick it up on its release.
This book was provided by Netgalley in exchange for an honest opinion.
***Thanks to Netgalley, the author, and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review ***
I was so excited to get the ARC for this as I am a huge fan of Paris' last two books. Bring me back is divided into three parts, and each section left me with very different feelings. Part 1 was amazing; I would give it 5 stars for suspense. The second part felt like a Gone Girl rip off. The third part redeemed itself for originality but was somewhat confusing to follow at times.
Overall, if you are a Paris fan, you gotta read it, and I'm interested to see what others think.
Oh. My. Gosh. Every book this author writes, I will purchase and devour again and again! Every one of B.A. Paris's books has captivated me! The twists and turns keep me turning the pages and losing sleep! This one is the best yet! I kept coming up with different scenarios in my mind and was gratified this time to have figured it out before the end!! Great, fantastic read! I recommend for anyone who loves psychological thrillers that make you hold your breath!
I loved The Breakdown by BA Paris, so was eager to read this one. I flew through it, wanting to figure out what had happened to Layla, and so curious as to who was behind the mysterious messages. I thought the book dragged just a bit in the middle, but I couldn't put it down as I wanted to know what happened. I personally didn't see the ending coming and thought it was a bit bizarre overall. I'm not sure if I thought it was entirely believable once I found out the "twist", but, the book kept me captivated and entertained throughout. I would recommend this one!
The Breakdown by BA Paris was the first book I read from the author. It sets high expectations for future books.
A huge thank you to St Martins Press for the advanced copy. We have been waiting for Bring Me Back for sometime. Its a fast paced psychological thriller and is almost a book of two halves, the first half setting the scenes, getting to know the characters the story and setting the scene. And with Finn questioning himself constantly is it, is she, or is it.... will start to build pace and the second half you will not put the book down, reading at speed, turning the pages, forgetting sleep 😴. But it’s well worth it.
Prepare once you’ve read about 55% of the book to forget everything until Finn and you know the truth. I worked the final twist out but it doesn’t detract from the feelings you have when read the final chapters. And that’s the knack BA Paris has in worrying, you are absorbed into the lead character.
It’s that 50% of the story that is Gripping, page turning and tense. Another of BA Paris books I will be shopping of to a fellow book reader in USA ahead of their publication date.

I received a free e-copy of Bring Me Back by B.A. Paris from NetGalley for my honest review.
Finn, a man who meets Layla, falls immediately and deeply in love with her. One day they had a fight while driving and they stopped at a rest stop so Finn could use the restroom. When Finn returns to the car, Layla is missing.
Twelve years later, Finn is in a relationship with Layla's sister Ellen and he starts receiving emails and letters from someone who claims they are Layla. Is Layla still alive or is someone playing a sick joke on Finn just before he plans on marrying Ellen.
I loved how the book goes from the point-of-view of each character in the chapters. One chapter will be Finn, another will be Layla, the next Ellen. A very engaging psychological thriller that will have your head spinning from the characters theories of what they think is going on and also what you think is going on. All the lies, secrets and deception will have you reading through the night. Fantastic book that I highly recommend.
Layla, the love of Finn McQuaid's life, vanished on their way home from a skiing getaway. Twelve years later, he doesn't know if she died or started a new life somewhere without him. He's set in his ways and is engaged to Layla's older sister Ellen, with whom he commiserated after Layla's memorial service. They seem to have a comfortable, routine life -- until he starts getting suspicious emails from someone claiming to be with (or be) Layla herself. This turns Finn's life upside down and to make matters worse, he starts receiving ominous Russian dolls that only meant something to several people in their lives. As you try to figure out who's behind these emails, B.A. Paris constantly shifts your focus so you think it's someone else! One thing's for sure, you definitely won't see this ending coming!
I love this author and her first two books were so good. I felt like this one fell a little short. There was still a good mystery and I really wanted to know what happened to Layla. However, the ending seemed a little rushed and undeveloped. I did suspect the truth about Layla, but didn't think her reasoning for running away was believable enough. And I can't believe that Finn was completely fooled. I just kept thinking that a better twist was coming and it never did.
Gone Girl type of book. Unfortunately, I figured it out at 20% and though I usually resist the temptation to scan ahead to the end to see if I'm right... this time I did. I felt that getting to the 20% mark to establish who the characters were in my mind, and then on to the final chapter gave me all that I needed. I don't seem to do well when a book like this is written strictly with a male voice.
Being a fan of B.A. Paris and enjoying the authors first two books, I was excited to be given the opportunity to read her new book. The blurb sounded great and I couldn’t wait to dive in. The story was good that I wanted to keep reading. The twists and turns play with what you think is going on. Somewhere near the last quarter of the book, the story just lost its momentum and my attention. I think the plot was an excellent idea, but I believe it had much more potential to make a much better story. I will still recommend it as a good read, but it’s not one of my favs by this author.
BRING ME BACK by BA Paris. Liked this so much better than the BREAKDOWN. A suspenseful story with an unusual twist at the end. Finn is hard to relate to at first but gets easier to like as the story progresses. Layla and Ellen are mysterious in their own unique way. Peggy is the most stable and grounded of all.
Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.
Thank you to NetGalley and B.A. Paris for providing me this copy in exchange for my review.
Had to let this one fully digest before I could write my review. 12-years ago Layla disappeared from a rest stop as Finn and Layla were coming back from a trip to Megeve, France. As the years have passed there has never been a clue as to how Layla went missing. Fast forward to the present, Finn is now engaged to Ellen, Layla's sister and little Russian dolls begin popping up along with cryptic emails that Layla may be alive after all. What follows is a series of twists and turns throughout the book that have you believing one thing and finally learning what happened to Layla that fateful day.
I am a big fan of B. A. Paris. From her debut book "Behind Closed Doors" which I was very impressed with and then "The Breakdown", I have become a big fan and could not wait to get my hands on her latest "Bring Me Back."
Finn is our main character, a bit different as the last two books were women narrators. Finn's girlfriend Layla vanishes while they are on vacation together. It is now 12 years later and he receives a little Russian doll, a reminder of Layla. Talk about creepy, those dolls were starting to creep me out a bit. Is she back, could it actually be her? I have to admit the plot was very far fetched to me and not all that believable. However, I was engaged completely in this book until the end and that last twist did surprise me. B. A. Paris has a way of writing that I really enjoy. I look forward to seeing what she comes up with next and will be eagerly awaiting her next book!
A big thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for allowing me an advanced copy of this book!
I don’t want to give anything away because this book doesn’t come out until August 2018. All I want to say is trust the blurb! Believe the hype! Buy the book! BA Paris has done it again. Thank you so much to Netgalley and St. Martins Press for my advanced copy. Another hit!
I big thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for granting me an advanced copy of Bring Me Back by B.A. Paris. This book will be available in your favourite bookstore on June 19, 2018.
This is a story of passion, loss, and damaged hearts. Twelve years ago, Layla disappeared from Finn's life in a very tragic way. Years later, he is dating Layla's sister, Ellen, and asks her to marry him. Soon after their engagement is published in the newspapers, Russian dolls start showing up everywhere and he receives emails from the one he thought he lost forever. The Russian dolls are sending a clear message to Finn: get rid of Ellen. Conflicted, Finn tries to solve this mystery, but there are too many lies and how can it be possible that Layla would still be alive? But is it Layla? Who would want Ellen out of his life?
Bring Me Back is a page turner which will leave an imprint on your thoughts. Every time I put the book down, I found myself thinking about the story to figure out the plot. Great book!
