As someone who is a bit of a mood reader, I'm a firm believer that there is a perfect time for every book. If I want something a bit sexy, I'll search through my Kindle until I find one that fits. If I don't know what I'm feeling, I'll search for a book cover and/or description for one that piques my interest. This is kind of what happened while I was reading Want You by Stacy Finz. I loved the first book in Stacy's The Garner Brothers series and I was excited to pick up book 2. However, it wasn't grabbing my attention. I kept reading in hopes I'll start loving it until I finally set it aside for a good month to move onto other books. Fast forward to last week when I had a bit of free time and I thought, for better or worse, it was time to finish the book. I was ready to give it 3 stars and move on. So I picked it up again with just over half of the book left... I could not put it down! It was perfect timing because I ended up loving the last half of Deb and TJ's story.
While I loved Deb from the start, it took me a long time to warm up to TJ. I loved that he's had feelings for Deb since they were kids, but never could act on them since Deb was always linked to his brother. When it looks like Deb and Win are finally over for good, TJ slowly started to make his intentions known. He spontaneously gives Deb a job that she's not qualified for at all just to help her out. That part of him I adored. I wished he had moved a bit faster, but I understand why he was as cautious when laying his heart on the table. Deb knows that she's in over her head with her new career, but she doesn't let that stop her and she's willing to work hard to figure things out. By the end of the book, I loved both Deb and TJ. Things were not easy for them, but when they were finally on the same page it was all good.
Once I got past the roadblock, I enjoyed Want You. The first half of the book moved a bit slow for me, but that could be because I wasn't in the mood to read it or we simply weren't connecting. Once I picked it up again, I loved the last bit of the book. I'm glad I didn't give up on it. I enjoyed Stacy's writing style. I love the setting! And the characters are lovable. I'm excited for Win and Darcy's story. Both characters deserve to find happiness, especially after all of the shit Win went through throughout this one. Poor guy!
I love the Garner Brothers series. This time, we have the oh so focused TJ,the money cruncher for the family's outdoor sporting business. He has a lot on his plate with ideas to expand the business and discovering he has no personal life. His eyes are on Deb, his younger brother's sometimes girlfriend. Deb had crushed on TJ in their teens, but he was older, so she dated Win, the younger brother with a huge zest for life and fun. Deb is ready for more in life and TJ offers her a job in the company which she seems to have a knack for. Soon they realise how much they have in common and can't ignore their attraction anymore. Their story is totally fun and sexy. I was also surprised at Win's story thread and finding a newer, more serious layer to him, so I am excitedly waiting for him to get his story!
I received an ARC from NetGalley for my opinion of the story.
What can I say about Stacey Fins? Exceptional author, always a joy to read her books. Well rounded characters, heart melting heroes and sassy heroines, make for a great book every time!!
Deb Bennett is a woman struggling to survive with bills stacking up and her job not paying enough to keep up with them. So, when TJ Garner offers her an executive job at Garner Adventure, she can't say no. Not when the job will give her the chance to prove her worth and will have her working alongside TJ. However, working with the Garners is a blast and when she and TJ start to get closer, it's hard not to give into their intense chemistry. Will TJ and Deb be able to achieve their happy ever after, or will TJ lose Deb to the brother he believes she's always wanted?
Ms. Finz's books are always entertaining, and I really enjoyed this book because Deb is a down-on-your luck woman that finds her luck changing the moment TJ offers her a job; the hero begins to discover that work isn't all life should be about because of Deb; the dialogue was an enthralling combination of intense moments due to the main characters back stories and what the hero's brother is going through and playful banter that had me liking that TJ and Deb took a chance on each other; and the obstacles these two face to be together are tough, but I loved how they overcame them including whether the hero can do what the heroine wants to help with the company's online store and whether the hero realizes how good Deb is for him before he loses her.
Both the main characters were fascinating and I loved their back stories, as TJ has always been the responsible one and the best to lead the company while Deb has done everything she can to help her family and finds her efforts aren't enough. Will she ever earn enough money to make a dent in her bills? Moreover, the heroine is strong and brave in finally moving on from her off and on again relationship with TJ's brother and I liked that she finally took a chance on TJ because it's palpable how much he wants her. I also liked how hard-working she is and the brilliant ideas she comes up with to hopefully generate sales for the new venture of Garner Adventure. While the hero, he's charming, attentive and I liked that he would do anything to help someone in need, which is proven by how he helps Deb several times. Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero is the tight bond he shares with his family and that they would do anything for each other, even supporting one of the brothers that finds himself between a rock and a hard place when it comes to a woman that -- it's palpable -- is using Win for what he can give her.
Overall, Ms. Finz has delivered a wonderful read in this book where there's plenty of chemistry between TJ and Deb; the romance was fantastic, as TJ finally gives into his feelings for Deb; and the ending had me loving what the hero does to prove to Deb and his family that he has skills on the snow and isn't a coward anymore, even though for years he's felt like a failure when it comes to his sporting career that never was. However, it was how things worked out for this couple that I liked most about the ending because Deb is good for TJ. I would recommend Want You by Stacy Finz, if you enjoy the friends to lovers trope or books by authors Peggy Jaegar, Melissa West, Melody Grace and Jill Shalvis.
I received an arc from Netgalley. This book definitely has a romantic twist but one I just could not get into. Secretly loving someone but dating the brother forever.... just doesn’t jive with my tastes. 2.5 stars
I am going to be in the minority and honestly do not care, I did not understand the five starts but I guess everybody is entitled to their opinion. I however will not give it five stars, will not give it 2 because it was not poorly written. I do not like when someone ends up having a relationship with siblings that is not for me. I could not understand how h thought she was not good enough for one brother so settles with other and then in the long run ends up with the one she originally wanted..yuck..Then the loyalty this family had none, they supposedly knew and cared for h, yet had no qualms about firing..sorry folks this was not a love story for me and I do not care to read about the rest of the group.
Stacy Finz is a new author to me, I’ve never read anything by her but the blurb caught my eye and my attention and I thought this sounds like a great story to read and I wasn’t disappointed at all. This book has such a wonderful and amazing story that I really liked as it grabbed hold of me and didn’t let go till I had read the whole book. I especially loved the characters in this book. Liked how they interaction with each other and how the romance grows between them as your read their story. I would wholeheartedly recommend this book
it's a total coincidence that the previous review i wrote also had two characters who've known each other since their school days and have loved each other since then, and that the male lead's name also happens to be t.j. hey, at least the female lead has a different name, but deb has similar money and family problems.
anyway, so in want you, t.j. and deb finally stop protecting their hearts and glaring and realize that all that heat was crazy sexual attraction. and it's pretty great once they stop circling each other and just go for it. interspersed with t.j. and deb's deepening relationship is t.j.'s younger brother and deb's on-and-off-again ex, win's story. my guess is that the next book will be about win and darcy, and if you are wondering why i'm focusing on that instead of t.j. and deb, it's that we spend a lot of time hanging out with other characters.
colt garner might have been charming as the lead in his book, but he's a total jerk in this story and that made some of the family scenes harder to buy. but as everyone works through their issues you do get caught up in the lives of everyone at glory junction.
**want you will publish on february 27, 2018. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/kensington press (zebra shout) in exchange for my honest review.
This is the second in the Garner Brothers series, and while I think it could work as a standalone, I think you’d miss a lot of the background flavor.
Both TJ and Deb have grown up in Glory Junction, and both are outdoorsy people. On the surface, though, that’s where the similarities end. TJ is the workaholic, business-oriented Garner brother, at the expense of his own personal life. He has a certain vision for the company, and while he’s helped make it wildly successful, he’s not satisfied. Deb, on the other hand, works as a waitress at the local diner. Though they’ve each secretly had crushes on each other since they were kids, Deb believes TJ is too good for her, and TJ has avoided Deb because of her on-again-off-again relationship with his brother Win. When Deb confesses her money issues to TJ, he resolves to help her, but the main solution to her problem is that she needs to make more money. So, naturally, he offers her the management position for his family’s company’s new retail division – something she has no experience in.
“The entire business world operates under the premise that it’s who you know, not what you know. No one passes on an opportunity because they have too much dignity to take a hand up. But if you want to live over a diner, drive a busted car, and eat ramen the rest of your life, suit yourself. The rest of us will happily use our connections to get ahead and prove ourselves.”
Deb is, understandably, shocked (as is the rest of TJ’s family), but eventually takes the position, and then works her butt off trying to learn on the job. Luckily, she has a network of small business-owning friends (oh, and Delaney, the fashion designer from the previous book), so she’s not going in completely blind. I was initially a bit skeptical of the whole premise, but Deb was an amazingly hard worker and had the advantage of being the type of person they wanted to advertise to. I was also a bit uncomfortable with the power dynamic – not only does TJ hire her for a job that’s she desperately unqualified for, but he’s also her direct boss. Partly because of this, by the time Deb and TJ finally get together, it’s more than halfway through the book. They have several other external obstacles, as well, like pretty much everyone in town’s assumption that Deb and Win will eventually end up together, and various characters shoving random women at TJ. Internally, Deb feels unworthy of TJ – I mean, her parents used to clean the company’s office when she was a kid, so there’s definitely a class divide. TJ, for his part, desperately wants to succeed but is also terrified of losing, to the point where he’s either unwilling to try something for fear of failing or, if he does try something, gives up the minute it becomes too hard.
“Which reminds me, what are we doing for your birthday?” he asked.
“Getting drunk and then setting my car on fire.”
“I’ll bring the gin and marshmallows.”
We’re told that a lot of Deb’s financial situation is a result of her constantly bailing out her parents, and we do see it twice in the book – once at the beginning, where she ends up “loaning” them most of her tips so they can buy firewood, and again in the middle when they need help with a plumbing emergency. While having a much better paying job that includes benefits is sure to be a big help with dealing with that expense, I know from experience that that kind of responsibility is a mental as well as monetary burden. I would’ve liked to see that covered more. Instead, there seems to be a lot of time spent maneuvering other characters into possible relationships for further books in the series, including a pretty substantial subplot with Win. While I understood why some of this would need to be covered since everyone assumed that Deb and Win would eventually end up together, for me, it took too much time away from Deb and TJ. To be contrary, though, I did enjoy Deb’s relationships with her friends. Her conversations with Hannah, Foster, and Delaney were some of my favorite parts of the book.
Overall, while I had some issues with the book, I did enjoy it, and I’ll most likely be picking up the next book in the series! Recommended for fans of small-town, outdoorsy romances!
I received this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
This is the second book in this series about the Garner brothers. I really like this series. This book focused on TJ Garner, who is the CEO of Garner Adventure, and Deb, who is a waitress. Deb used to date Win, the younger Garner brother but TJ has always had a crush on her. Stacy Finz weaves a story with lovable characters that will pull you right in and touch your heart. I could not put the book down and I am so glad there are more good looking Garner brothers for even more stories! I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
Glory Junction is the new Nugget for me, a place I would wish to visit. In Want You by Stacy Finz we get to visit the Garner brothers, this time TJ. What is not to like about any of these brothers but TJ is a special man. Maybe it is his willingness to take a risk in hiring or just his overall “good guy” but he is one great main character in this story. Deb is not slouch in the work ethic department either. I enjoyed seeing these two work together, cementing their friendship which then leads to more.
The easy to get lost in story is character driven with depth and growth within the characters and their relationships. Wonderfully written, making this a place I want to visit again and again, even though I am not into extreme sports.
Garner Brothers #2, As much as I love Nugget I am loving Glory Junction just as much. The Garner Brother's are all risk takers they love adventure so it really is a good thing that the family owns an outdoor adventure company where they specialize in extreme tours. Stacy Finz always does a fantastic job building up the small town to where all the towns people are quirky and entertaining. The dialogue is smooth and the pace of the story is carries you straight through you won't want to put it down. I loved TJ because he asks like he has everything together but really he's just flying by the seat of his pants and he's a little more insecure than he lets on. Deb is great I really enjoyed her character she is so hard working and sweet and even when it seems like everything is against her she still remains strong and goes forward because she knows she can't give up.
TJ is the one brother who seemed interested in the business side of things, he has a great head for business as well as for skiing. TJ has been longing for more time out of the office but with the new apparel line coming and a new website he can't get away. His only hope is that when the person he hires for the retail division comes on he can take some time off, only the person he wanted didn't take the job.
Deb has known the Garners just about all her life, her parents use to work for them and at one time she worked as a guide, she even dated Win. She and Win have had an on and off relationship since high school, she convinced herself that he was "The One" and so far she has just been waiting for him, until recently. Deb realized that there is no use waiting for Win and her mountain of debt is sinking her fast and she needs to concentrate on getting herself out of that. Out of desperation she asks the one person she usually tries to avoid, not because he's a bad guy but because she has always liked him and never thought she was in his league so she settled for Win, TJ for advise on her options. TJ helps because he's always liked her but she chose Win. When he sees just how bad her finances are he offers her a job to head the new retail division while she has no experience she is part of the target demographic and he trust her with the job.
But things aren't going smoothly as he hoped they would one of their major competitors also launched an apparel line and had it featured in a magazine. Everything is riding on the line now and unless it picks up Deb is once again to be out of a job. Deb has to deal with a web designer who did a horrible job with the retail site and TJ doesn't want to admit that she's right, finding the best and cheapest way to promote their line, prove to herself as well as the rest of the Garner's that she is the right person for this job and keep her job all the while deal with her attraction to TJ, that is until they start sleeping together then they have to tell Win.
Overall, this was a great book. I loved the side story with Win it helps set up his story and how he had to grow up. The conflict between TJ and Deb wasn't that massive but it was still very emotional and had a very sweet ending.
I am always drawn to books that revolve around a business environment. So after reading the book blurb, I just had to check out Want You by Stacy Finz. I have read quite a few books by Ms. Finz, and her romantic stories never fail to disappoint. To begin with, the cover of Want You is quite pleasing to the eye. Secondly, I found the trials and tribulations of running an adventure company to be both exciting and enlightening. Furthermore, the writing is well-paced, descriptive, and brings out the true emotions of the characters. This is the second book from The Garner Brothers series and it can be enjoyed as a standalone.

Want You by Stacy Finz
The Garner Brothers #2
Glory Junction feels like a small town environment although it is flooded with tourists, skiers and people looking for adventure when on holiday and Garner Adventures has been lucratively helping people have fun through their business for decades.
In this book we are told a story of a woman who has always thought she was not good enough for one Garner brother so settled for another. After fifteen years of hot and cold it seems it is finally time for Deb Bennett and TJ Garner to not only see they are meant to be together but act upon that fact. There is some indecision on TJ’s part due to the bro-code as Win has been “with” Deb for so many years BUT eventually he overcomes not only that but a few of his other issues. What issues you ask? His touchiness about not making an Olympic team, his drive to make the company succeed at the expense of his own personal life, his mixed feelings toward his brother(s)…and perhaps a few other things.
This was a story that had many men seeing Deb as HOT but not acting on it because it was always assumed she would end up with Win. It was a story of Deb being in a bind due to her commitment to family at the expense of her own needs. It is a story of past beliefs and personal issues impacting the present. It is a story of coming into one’s own when finally given the chance – and taking it – to work to full potential. It is a story of friendship and community. And, it is a story of family and all it can and should be.
I am interested in Win Garner, the supposed womanizer and flake with a heart of gold, and who he will end up with. I believe it just might be Darcy after a few things that were mentioned in this book ;)
Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington-Zebra for the ARC – This is my honest review.
3-4 Stars
The Garner Brothers series just keeps getting better!
TJ is the CEO of the successful family business and works hard. Deb has been friends with the Garner family for years and is having a hard time keeping up with supporting her parents and her own bills. They both love skiing, being outdoors, and they have been secretly attracted to each other for years.
When Deb starts working with TJ will they be able to resist their feelings? It might not be easy, but Deb dated TJ's brother Win and everyone expects them to end up together.
I really liked that both TJ and Deb grow and change over the course of the book. They compliment each other well and are believable characters.
I am looking forward to reading Win's book next! After reading this series, I went out and downloaded Stacy Finz Nugget series and can't wait to read it too!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Loved, loved, loved! These Garner brothers are all so swoony and TJ seems to have it all. A little bit geeky, a whole lot rugged, and hot as sin. As the CEO of Garner Adventures he could have his pick of women but the only one he wants is Deb. Too bad she's off limits. TJ's brother Win and Deb have had a sometimes on again, mostly off again relationship of years and TJ has had to watch from the sidelines. Now Deb is working for Garner Adventures and staying away from her is getting harder and harder.
I absolutely adore this series and even though each book can be read standalone I recommend you treat yourself and read them all. I'm sure you will fall in love with the little town of Glory Junction and all the characters that live there just as I have. I definitely recommend this one.
Here we are at book #2 of the Gardner Brothers series. I'm sure loving this series so far! I really enjoyed the first story and have the novella on my bookshelves and need to get to it. Up this time we have TJ and Deb. Both characters we met in the prior book.
I really enjoyed TJ in the first book of the series. Yes he had a bit of tunnel vision where it came to the family business. For him nothing came before it. Or so that's the impression I got in the first book. So imagine my surprise (and his families) when he hired Deb to head up a department on her own.
Crazy!
But for them it worked. I was shocked sort of.
I wasn't at first sure how I felt about them together when she dated his brother for so long but as the book went along I started to wonder what that relationship was like? It seemed they were more buddies, that Win only was with her when he had nobody else. Makes me wonder how she's going to redeem Win in my eyes.
But as you keep reading the story you really see how much both TJ and Deb care for each other. Both thought each other was out of their touch. If they only talked. I liked how hard Deb worked to prove herself and how TJ was there to help her. She had others helping her too! She was very lucky.
What got on my nerves a bit was the way Colt kept saying that she had to go for the sake of the business. They ran into some trouble (the business) and would have to make some cuts somewhere. but it seemed like he wasn't giving her a chance to make the company any money. I wanted to slap him after like the third time of him saying how he loved Deb but she had to go.
Other then that, and let's be really it wasn't that big of a complaint, I really enjoyed the story and I'm looking forward to Win and Darcy's book. That should be fun.
This book captured my attention from the very first. I found that I kept returning to it as the story was so interesting! I loved all of the characters. TJ & Deb had known one another a long time. That shines through in some of the kind things they do for one another. You find yourself praying for their happy ever after. The other side stories also kept you intrigued by this book. I highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys outdoor adventure sports. There were also some extremely funny portions like Stan the Man! I anxiously await the next book to read!
I voluntarily read this book as an advance copy! The comments regarding the book are all my own thoughts and feelings.
Deb Bennett has loved TJ Garner since she was a child but she knew that she would never measure up to the Garner's golden boy so she settled for his brother, Win. The two of them got along quite well since Win is sort of the family black sheep, the one least likely to succeed (though that's not hard in a family of overachievers.) But Win isn't coming back to Deb and she knows that it's for the best. For TJ, that means it's an opportunity to win the woman he's always loved, first by wooing her with a marketing job.
And Deb ends up being amazing at the job even though she's only worked as a server and never went to college (or only went for a little while... I don't remember). While I'm sure there are many people who can do this, I didn't get any sense that Deb was going to be that person. And I have to admit that there was so little time between Deb and TJ on the slopes. We're told over and over that Deb is this amazing sports-woman but we never actually get to see it. And TJ's story of angst is... a little disappointing. I didn't love this story but am definitely still looking forward to the next.
Three stars
This book comes out February 27

I find that I really enjoy contemporary romances in which the jobs of the characters are more than something just thrown in to check off a box, but actually are an integral part of the novel. Too often, we’re told that a character has a job and maybe he or she goes to a meeting or two, but otherwise the author spends no time creating a realistic work environment for the main characters.
In this novel TJ Garner is the CEO of an outdoor extreme sports adventure business. TJ has just added a retail clothing line to the company and needs someone to run that part of the business. He has loved Deb Bennett since high school, but she has had an on-off relationship with his younger brother, Win, for 15 years. And the four Garner brothers might be competitive with each other, but they don’t try to steal the other one’s girl. But Deb has always had a thing for TJ, but thought that she was out of his league. She’s had to give up all her dreams and work in a diner in order to earn enough money to help her parents out. Then TJ offers her the job of heading up the retail division of their new clothing line. Sure, she has absolutely no experience, but TJ has faith in her and she has some good friends who give her advice so why not take a job that will help her get out of debt and out of the waitress uniform?
It’s unbelievable that anyone would hire her with her lack of experience, but just roll with that. The business has troubles that TJ has to shoulder and try to address while resisting his love for his younger brother’s ex-girlfriend. And the younger brother is having some romantic problems of his own.
All in all, it was a very enjoyable read and I look forward to Win’s story.
I was given a free ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
