This story is about Maggie Roby a woman who was cheated on and betrayed by the two people she held close. Her best friend and her now ex-husband bronc-busting rodeo rider Todd Banister. The thing is she didn’t find out until after she said I do. So, she is not a woman that believes in happily-ever-afters. She believes all men if given the chance will cheat.
So, how ironic that not only was she having to make her sister’s wedding cake. You know, since after divorcing her ex, she opened a very successful bakery, but she was also being a co-maid of honor with her baby sister April. Yup! Her middle sister Cassidy a single mother to Lexie, is marrying, Mason Hannigan, only the most famous quarterback in the country. She so deserves this win of happiness for herself after being a single mom. Maggie just hopes that Mason can just keep it in his pants.
But as Maggie could attest to money and fame doesn’t keep their zippers up when your away from them. In fact, not even when your right there with them. A cheater is a cheater no matter what. So, when she catches the sexy eye of an out of towner trying to have sex in her sister’s new laundry room, which by the way is the size of her whole apartment, with a different woman that he came in with that morning at her bakery not just a few hours ago she is pissed. One, it confirms that all men are pigs. But two, that her guy meter is as to who is a good pick is totally flawed still. Handsome and rich doesn’t mean faithful.
Then, she figures out that man is none other than Mason’s replacement best man, Jack Sutton. Great! She thinks, her date for the evening part of the time at least. Little did she know that her spunk and feistiness would turn him on. To the point of him telling her that she would kiss him by the end of the night.
This is the story of two people at the crossroads in their lives. He, at the peak of wealth. But after meeting her and her down-home charm realizing that all the wealth in the world is worthless without someone special to share it with. As for Maggie, she’s learning that you can’t judge all books by the same cover or determine the outcome of the journey without taking the walk.
I loved this book the characters made me laugh. The small-town feel, of the noisy neighbors, all up in your business. Namely her mama. Coralee was a hoot. What finally made me happy was when Maggie finally stood up for herself with her ex. Damn, girl, took you long enough though! She was a little sticky-sweet at times that may have been the bakery. LOL!

On any given day, Maggie Roby has cake batter on her sleeve, flour where the blush supposedly goes, and sore feet from standing since dawn. For her sister’s wedding day, she’s added a side of heartache. Maggie’s failed marriage taught her that love is a lie and commitment a mistake, and it was an expensive lesson. But with her bakery thriving and her life simplified to work, family, and knitting for her pug, Maggie thinks she's bought some peace. Until Jake Sutton walks in and she realizes she isn't safe from desire at all.
I was really hoping for a sweet romance that was quick and enjoyable. That’s not what I got. The guy was a typical bed-hopper, which I really don’t line and the woman was a bit of a pushover. It made for a hard-to-read book for me.

I'm so sad to say this book was definitely not for me.
When I first read the blurb I couldn't wait to get into it, this sounded so good!

Unfortunately, it was disappointing. I couldn't connect to the characters, nor to the story. Things were so unbelievable. I don't want to get into details by fear of spoiling but this book is one you should definitely make your own opinion of. I didn't like it but I'm sure others could.

This is quite a nice story about two damaged people. Maggie has been damaged by her broken marriage and cheating husband. She no longer believes in happily ever after or that love can last. Jake was raised by an abusive and alcoholic mother and has spent his life trying to protect himself from every being poor again. He has also actively avoided love and affection and tries to be alone.

Once Maggie and Jake meet, they find that they are drawn to one another and can't resist the pull that they experience towards each other. There is a little bit here that I have a bit of an issue with. Jake keeps telling Maggie what she is going to do. Being an 'alpha male' is one thing, but being controlling (to the point of sending her dresses that she can wear on their date) is quite another and not a particularly attractive trait at that.

Overall I enjoyed the story. I did feel that it felt a little rushed in parts. The bones of the story were here, but things happened quite quickly on an emotional level and it made it slightly difficult to believe that they could both overcome their issues quite so easily. I do think that Maggie really deserved someone a little more understanding and less damaged, he disappeared on more than one occasion and she ran to him. Perhaps she should have been less of a doormat. It was an enjoyable read though and I liked the idea of the story and the characters.

Sweet Dreams is a SEXY read. The characters were really well written & the story was strong & very entertaining.

This was the second book in the Dreams Come True series & Ican be read as a stand alone. Characters from the previous book are in the story but their background isn't needed to understand or enjoy the steamy story of Maggie & Jake

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I really didn't agree with the name of this book, I didn't really read anything that was sweet besides that Maggie had a bakery. I wasn't crazy about Maggie, I found her to be a doormat, I mean here your ex-husband cheats on you repeatedly with you ex-best friend and you greet him like it was no problem, heck no he would have been hurt. I understand not wanting to take out your hurt on the kids but they were not your responsibility she was just dumb, and both her ex-husband and ex-best friend showed how much. Then there is Jake, yeah buddy make up your mind and grow the heck up.

Maggie's done with love, in all shapes and sizes. If people, including her family, think she's bitter and unforgiving, let them, because she is. She's trying to be happy for her sister on her wedding day, but all she really wants to do is go home and take a nap.

When the best man, Jake, begins flirting with her, she does her best to shoot him down, but Jake is a persistent man. As he begins to spend more and more time in her little town, Maggie realizes there's more to him than meets the eye.

I enjoyed this book, how the characters’ slow and easy interactions eventually led to more. How misconceptions and perceptions can easily lead to misunderstandings and heartbreak. Hindsight is 20/20 is an old saying for a reason.

This is the second book in the series. I would recommend that you read them in order. This follows on directly from Dream On. There Cassidy Roby was the local girl who recaptured her girlhood love. Here, her sister Maggie is the centre of the story.

Maggie most definitely does not want any romance in her life. She was terribly, badly treated by her husband, but now divorced and living above her bakery, she has found a new balance in her life. Unfortunately, at her sister Cassidy's wedding she meets Jake Sutton, multibillionaire and man with whom she has intense chemistry. In complete denial, she works very hard to avoid him, but he is having none of it! I loved the push-me pull-you conversations and interactions between these two fated lovers. For the reader, it is just a matter of when and how... and Ms. Keith does an excellent job of throwing in a lot of barriers.

This is a fun, sweet, and sexy read, which does a great job of levelling out the playing field for these two contrary people to accept the inevitable!

Heartwarming romance

Stacey Keith did a nice job creating the town and folks of Cuervo, Texas.
Maggie and Jake have an instant attraction but a bumpy way to their HEA. They each grow through the course of the story, healing the hurts that the past had produced.
This is the first book I've read by Stacey Keith but it won't be the last. I've just one-clicked Dream On the first book in the series. Sweet Dreams reads well as a stand alone but I liked the authors writing style and enjoyed the secondary characters so much I wanted to read Cassidy and Mason's story.
I received an advance reader copy from Netgalley.

I loved this story. Didn't want it to end. Just enough angst mixed in with a lot of patience and romance to wow the reader.

Sweet Dreams by Stacey Keith
Dreams Come True #2

Just what I needed to read today! Jake Sutton and Maggie Roby so deserved their happily ever after and it was a joy to be able to watch their romance unfold.

Maggie owns a bakery in Cuervo, Texas and sometimes thinks of herself as the Grinch of Weddings – especially as she prepares to be maid of honor at her sister Cassidy’s wedding. At the wedding one man stands out in a big way – the best man – Jake – and the kiss they share shakes their worlds.

Jake, a very wealthy self-made man is in the process of investing in two ventures I Cuervo. Wanting to keep his eye on his projects (and Maggie) he moves to town for a month and lays siege to Maggie…and what a wooing he does! Both have trust issues to overcome in order for them to find their HEA but they do so in such a way that I just could not put this book down.

What I liked:
* Jake – a book boyfriend that warmed my heart
* Maggie – a loving caring family woman
* The dialogue
* The interactions between Jake & Maggie
* The quirky bits
* Maggie’s family and community
* The smile on my face at the end of the book

What I didn’t like:
* Jake’s childhood
* Maggie’s icky ex-husband, Todd
* Avery – Maggie’s one-time bff
* The idea that Todd and Avery’s children probably won’t have a wonderful life

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books – Lyrical Shine for the ARC – This is my honest review.

Jake and Maggie's relationship was pretty unbelievable on many levels. True chemistry was lacking, the writing was poor and the conversations were stilted and awkward.

This is my first book by Stacey Keith.

What I liked:
The writing style
The characters
Part of a series: Dreams Come True
Standalone
HEA

I look forward to reading the other books in this series.

Maggie owns the local bakery in a small town in Texas. Everybody knows everything, and they all know Maggie is jaded when it comes to love. Her ex-husband cheated on her with her best friend. So can she believe in love again? Maggie doesn't trust that she ever will. Attending her sister's wedding is just a stark reminder of her lot in life. Yes, her bakery is doing very well, but Maggie herself, not so much. She's living but just going through the motions. Things take a dramatic change when she meets Jake, the best man and sparks fly.

Jake is a player and doesn't believe in love or family-both have brought him misery. Plus being a billionaire and running a demanding company, he has no time for relationships. That's why he plays the field-and heavily! They are all throw-away's until he meets genuine Maggie, with a heart full of sunshine. She brightens his days by just being herself! He can't get enough! She's made him want things that he never wanted or thought he could want. Can he trust in himself that he can be all that Maggie wants??

This is a very sweet romance. Two people who have major trust issues that have hampered their lives. I liked both of them and I could feel their chemistry! Talk about sizzling!! I so wanted them to figure everything out! I wished Maggie would've been harder on both her best friend and her ex, but it just wasn't in her character to do it.

A slow build romance that ticks all the boxes!

Love, love, love the chemistry in this story. From the moment they meet there is such a pull between Maggie and Jake, they cannot seem to stay away from each other. Or to say no to one another. No matter what they tell themselves and how much they convince themselves they are going to resist, as soon as they are in the same space everything else fades away.

My heart breaks for Maggie and the things she has gone through. For such a strong and independent woman, she can be a bit of a pushover when it comes to certain things. From the beginning Jake has her number when he says she’s a romantic. She definitely has a soft heart, but that’s not only appropriate. Certain people really know how to take advantage of that.

As for Jake, he’s kind of a jerk…and he knows it. Even his best friend knows it! But isn’t there always a reason when a hero is a jerk? Jake has a great reason to hold people at arm’s length, but life is messy and he can’t keep his well-structured life from starting to crumble around him when his past comes back to haunt him.

There are a few timeline issues that are quite minor and will most likely be corrected before publication (my copy was an ARC). Also, the story isn’t as in-depth as the first book, Dream On. But overall, it’s an excellent story and a great, page-turning read.

This was a 4 star winner. Trust and getting over the experiences you have had from the past is something all people need to learn how to do.
Here we have a woman who was betrayed by those she felt the closest to... her bestie and fiancee. She is now having to deal with her sister getting married and her doing the wedding cake through her bakery.

The conflict and delight of banter, sexy times and plain fun is the last minute "Best Man". He at first was seen as a player but ends up showing the woman she needs to judge each man on his own. Fun read

I love this story. Maggie’s bakery business is doing great but her personal life not so much. Her ex-husband is a lying cheater so she has definite trust issues as you would expect. Living in a small town has its own set of problems. She meets the sexy Jake at her sister’s wedding and the chemistry is palpable. Unfortunately Jake is a player and totally not her type so she stays clear, well as much as she can anyway. Jake has his own issues but no one really knows what they are as he has always put his best playboy billionaire face forward. I really like both Maggie and Jake so much and found myself routing for them to just get out of their own way and open themselves to what they could have together.
I do love it when the mighty fall though. Jake didn’t see Maggie coming and she made him want things he didn’t think he ever would or could have. Very sweet story about learning love and trust again.
