I just fell in love with Bren in Hooked On You. That brooding Scot had so many uphill battles starting with dealing with his alcoholism. When he realized what was truly important in his life...his daughters he does whatever is necessary to fix himself so he could be there for them. Along the way, he was gifted with the Vibrant Violet who simply swept his feet out from under him. She has had her own battles to face, but she is sassy, smart and adores his daughters. They both bring out the best in each other and find the strength to move on from their past, together!

Hooked On You by Kate Meader is the third and final book in the Chicago Rebels series featuring three estranged sisters who own a Chicago hockey team. To keep it, they must work together and have a winning season. Along the way, they find family, friendship, and love.  In Hooked On You, sassy, flirtatious and unapologetic Violet Vasquez goes head to head with team captain, Bren St. James.

Since Irresistible You, the first in the Chicago Rebels series, I've been waiting for Violet and Bren's story. A free spirit and a brooding Scot? That has my name written all over it.

Violet's character has been portrayed as a snarky, cute firecracker who showed surprising depth when her sisters needed help sorting out their own lives. But you wouldn't guess at the hurt about her father's indifference and the constant fear she has been living with since her cancer diagnosis. When Violet inherits a third of the Chicago Rebels her plan is to fulfill the conditions her father expressed in his will, then sell her share and get the hell out of Dodge...but she didn't anticipate the fierce attraction she feels for the team's captain Bren St. James, who gives her the sexiest scowls which turn her into a puddle of need. Too bad he doesn't feel the same way, right?

Violet's propensity to needle Bren, always having a comeback on her lips had me laugh out loud frequently. She lives in the now and is determined to make "the year of the V" all about herself, which is not to say that she's selfish but having a health scare like hers just makes you look at things differently.

If you've read the other books in this series you know that Bren has a drinking problem. If not for Harper he would have been kicked off the team. After rehab he's now determined to not only make sure that he deserves this second chance but also repair the relationship with his daughters who have come to live with him, at least for a limited time. Being on the road a lot he needs somebody to look after his kids and while he totally underestimates Violet in the beginning, thinking of her as flighty and superficial, he soon realizes how good she is with them. If only she weren't temptation personified. He is spread thin with all the things going on in his life and a relationship with this woman who lights up his very soul would be doomed at this point. But who said they can't just...play?

Sixteen months without sex. That’s all it was. He was hard up, and his hard-on was making everything so fucking hard.

Bren was actually less broody than I expected. Yes, he had a lot of issues but he had a surprisingly positive outlook on his life. Doing right by his girls and Violet came always first and I loved him for that. I adored the way he was with his daughters - there is nothing more beautiful than a father who shows his love for his kids.

While Bren was a natural skater, he was a born father.

A love that Violet never had. It was obvious why she always gave way when it came to Cat and Franky -  with her own daddy issues she understood that they would always come first in Bren's life. Violet is incredibly aware of her environment and the people close to her, very smart, witty, full of life and sparkle and a wisdom beyond her age.

One of the scenes I found most endearing  was their reenacting Ferris Bueller's Day Off. It had most of my favorite characters from all books in it and was sweet and funny.

Speaking of, we get to catch up with them all. Harper and Remy is his charming sweet Southern self, as per usual, Isobel and Vadim who doesn't let us forget how adorable and hilarious he is in arrogance. And of course Cade and Dante, who have stolen my heart and were featured in the novella Undone by You. I can't say how much I loved Vi's and Cade's friendship - and her relationship with Izy and Harper which is getting stronger and more substantial. All of Violet's friends and family wanted her to be happy and helped her getting there.

Their collective group dynamic was just wonderful...

“You hungry, Vasquez?”
“Starving. I think Remy might have brought something, though.”
“Uh-oh,” Cade muttered. “Dante also brought something. Ingredients for pasta puttanesca.”
All attention shot to the chefs, watching as the two men sized each other up, kitchen masters about to throw down. This could get ugly real fast.
“DuPre,” Dante said, all gravity.
“Moretti,” Remy replied, equally serious.

Both of the main characters are at a point in their life where they wait for it to re-boot and start again, finding their place after so many changes. It's a little like standing in the waiting line and things are moving slow and I have to admit that I kind of felt a little bit like that in the first half of the book. Don't get me wrong, I loved this story so so much and my admiration for both Vi and Bren knows no bounds but the first part felt a little on the slower side.

The relationship is a deliciously slow burn but Violet and Bren's chemistry certainly sizzles from the beginning and will have your reproductive organs melting down.

The conclusion of the Chicago Rebels series had me laughing out loud, giggling like a school girl and swooning because of all the hotness that is Bren, Remy, Vadim, Cade and Dante - I will miss them all so much. Kate Meader has become an author I can count on to deliver thoroughly entertaining stories with buckets of humor and a very pleasant writing style. If you haven't read her books yet, the Chicago Rebels can all be read as standalones...but I'm sure once you've read one story in this series you'll want to read them all.

"I wasn’t ready for you, Violet. I wasn’t fully formed. You need a man who will give you a 100 percent of his focus, who will treat you like the queen you are. It took me time to become that man. He stands before you.”

Okay, you caught me. I know I say that the current couple in the book is my new favorite of a series, but I’m dead serious right now. Violet and Bren, are hands down, my favs in the Chicago Rebels series. They’re perfectly imperfect for each other. I am completely Hooked On You Violet and Bren.

Violet is still reeling from her crazy year, living the “Year of the V” and all that—which now includes helping run the family business, the Chicago Rebels hockey franchise, navigating her role with the team and with her two sisters, oh and then there’s her massive attraction to Bren St. James. Mr. Untouchable. Mr. Missed His Chance.

Bren’s just trying to make it through the day—sometimes minute by minute. He’s getting his life back together after almost losing it all. With his girls now back in his life, he needs a nanny STAT. Enter the most unlikely of nanny’s: Violet. His girls love her. She loves his girls. But she’s a siren calling to him from the rocks. She’s temptation unlike any other temptation he’s ever come across—and that’s saying something. Will he be able to ignore her siren’s song, or will he give in?

Mm hmm. Good luck with that avoidance, Violet and Bren. They’re like circling sharks on a piece of raw meat—and it’s an amazing sight. I loved their snarky, sexy banter. Their desire for each other shining so bright, but keeping all that attraction simmering only leads to a huge boil over. And damn, did it boil over. *fans self* I loved how they both put the girls first. Bren as dad . . . watch out ovaries! Oh and Bren on the ice . . . watch out ovaries.

But I would be remiss to not share the love I have for the Chase sisters. I’ve loved every minute spent with Harper, Isobel, and Violet. Loved seeing them grow as a family, and grow their circle of friends who become family. I really hate to see this series end because I just love these characters so much. I want more. A lot more. Sigh.

Do I love Kate Meader? Why yes, yes I do. Did I know who she was prior to reading her Chicago Rebel series about a trio of sisters who inherit a failing professional hockey team? Nope. Will I read everything she ever rights henceforth? You bet your 8-pack loving life I will.

Bren St. James is a recovering alcoholic, single dad, and captain of the Chicago Rebels. Violet Vasquez is the misfit surprise third daughter of a hockey legend. Together they're hilarious, heartbreaking, and hot enough to melt the ice. I assume that's a thing, I know nothing about hockey other than what I read about in romance novels. Plus Bren is Scottish. Enough said.

I really enjoyed this book, it had fairly realistic story line along with the fall out. It was a great conclusion to this series.

Title and author: Hooked On You by Kate Meader
Series: Chicago Rebels - Book 4
Publisher: Pocket Star
Releases: May 7, 2018

Genre: Contemporary

Rating: 4.5 Stars

There have been numerous emotional challenges in the Chicago Rebels series for the romantic couples to overcome, and the complex problems in the fourth and final story could deeply affect what happens in the relationship of Violet Vasquez and Bren St. James. While I enjoyed watching these two bicker with each other and make sharp retorts, I could also tell that desire was actually fueling many of their reactions. Both have their reasons for not wanting to get involved, and the journey they take to finding happiness is filled with genuine joy along with some heartache. Kate Meader manages to make Bren and Violet not only engaging but very realistic, and I was totally immersed in their lives all the way through the story. HOOKED ON YOU is believable with sincere emotions and imaginative developments.

Although Violet Vasquez could have felt sorry for herself because of all that she has endured lately, she is ready to face the new phase in her life with a positive attitude. When she inherits one-third of the Chicago Rebels hockey team, she leaves Nevada to work with her two half-sisters because of a stipulation plus it will eventually give her much needed money. Though Violet knew very little about hockey before becoming an owner, she did know men and the captain of the team intrigues her.

While Bren St. James has also gone through some tough times in the past months, from getting divorced to needing rehab because of too much drinking, he is really trying to turn his life around. Having to take over the responsibility of his two young daughters makes him determined to prove he can be a proper father. Since he has to travel for games, Bren must find someone to watch the girls while he is gone, and there is no way that spirited Violet would be his choice.

The sexual tension began building between Violet and Bren during their initial meeting, and each interaction afterward only increased the attraction between them. She enjoyed provoking him, and his grumpy responses only proved that he was hiding how he truly felt. I smiled often upon reading what comments were made, as Violet could always come up with something humorous. Since Bren is doing his best to be a great dad, his two daughters play a big part in how their relationship progresses. The girls are adorable, and they only added to the storyline, never overshadowing. HOOKED ON YOU is a captivating novel about family, love, and heartfelt emotions.

All the beloved individuals from past books make appearances, and the topics they discussed are frequently hilarious yet sometimes surprisingly meaningful. It was wonderful getting to discover what was currently going on in their lives. Though hockey games and camaraderie amongst friends and family are featured in the story, it is the emotional ups and downs Bren and Violet experienced that really kept me engrossed.

I voluntarily reviewed the book from the publisher via NetGalley, and all comments are my honest opinion

Another great story from Kate Meader! I loved the journey and story! A must read for hockey romance fans.

I absolutely adored this book!

I came in late to this series as this was the first book I’ve read by Kate Meader and the first book in this series. I didn’t even know until I finished reading that this was the last book in her Chicago Rebels series. Clearly, it can be read as a stand-alone haha!

Violet and Bren make for one awesome and powerful couple. They both have ghosts in their past they battle on a daily basis but in the end make them both so much stronger.

I found myself laughing out loud or secretly giggling while reading this book because Violet’s inner monologue is hysterical! Violet’s character is a riot and makes the perfect fiery Latina.

So who better for her than a big, broody Scot’s man! Bren loves fiercely and will do anything for his two daughters and his teammates. I loved reading the struggle that Bren goes through throughout this book. He truly is an amazing hero.

I will most definitely be reading more from this author now that I’ve discovered her!

I loved this series, and I’m so sad to see it go!!
Frankly I’d like to start off by saying congratulations to Kate Meader on a fabulous series. I literally loved each of the books within this series, and fell more in love with each other characters in all their different stories. Which brings me to this masterpiece – Hooked on You.
The great thing about the last book of a series that you’ve been following, is that you usually get to read about all the older characters coming together and watch how they meddle/interact/bestow their own wisdom into the current couple’s story. Hooked on You was no different. It was great to see all the key players of the Chicago Rebels series in this latest and last instalment.
This story follows the highly anticipated and fiery pairing between permanent tease Violet Vasquez and Chicago Rebels’ brooding Scottish captain Bren St James. If you have been reading this series from the start, Meader set this couple up perfectly, frankly she did so for all her couples, but none more so than Violet and Bren who from the get go have had a perfectly antagonistic relationship.
Bren often came across as disapproving about how flamboyant and fun Violet was, but their story in this novel shows how hard he was finding it to resist Violets charms.
The premise I’ll admit was “semi-dark” in the sense that both Bren, a recovering alcoholic, and Violet , a breast cancer survivor, are really fighting themselves and their own pasts to make this relationship work. It is however great to see them help each other realise that neither are alone in some of the tough things they have to come to terms with.
To be completely honest, I almost always avoid novels where the storylines have hints of dark stuff, because frankly reading is my outlet from a job that probably deals with enough of that crap, I love things that are light hearted and witty and make me laugh. So I feel it’s necessary to throw into this review, that if you’re someone similar to me, then fear not, because this really was a great read and the HEA for these two was definetly worth the wait.
Brilliant enemies to lovers plot and brilliant finish to a fantastic series Ms Meader! Look so forward to your upcoming releases!

I have been waiting for this book since being introduced to these two characters in the first book of the series. Miss Meader did not disappoint! I loved the slow burn between Bren and Violet. She showcased vulerability in these two characters so perfectly. Bren with his alcoholism and Violet with her breast cancer as well as always being felt left out or forgotten. There were so many sweet and tender moments between Bren and Violet both together and with his girls. Often times when an author writes children into the story I cringe a bit, because it doesn't ring true or sounds too forced. But Bren's girls had so much character themselves and were included perfectly in the book. And no one writes steamy scenes like Kate Meader - wowza! I will admit it wasn't my favorite of the series (that would have to be So Over You), but it was a lovely conclusion to a great series!

May I first just express my deep sadness that Hooked on You marks the end of this fantastic Chicago Rebels series? I'm seriously so sad. Like, I want to flip this book back to the first page and allow myself to soak it in - languish in these lovely words - rather than devour it with a sort of crazed gusto like the obsessive addict I actually am. I freaking loved this series and this one might be my favorite of them all.

There is a special place in my heart for surly heroes and Bren St. James excels at that sort of smoldering grump of which I can never get enough. Toss in the broken/wounded single dad thing and I was a goner before I even started. I adored him. Even better? I adored the way the fiery and vivacious Violet Vasquez tamed his demons and put that soft underbelly on display for us all to swoon over. This couple, man. I could not get enough of them. They were sparky and sexy and they made my heart ache for them. They were so much fun to read, while also plucking at my heartstrings and eking out a few tears along the way.

On top of the nearly perfect romantic storyline (and chemistry that was, oof, on fire y'all), Ms. Meader nailed the bromance between the hockey brotherhood as well as the heartwarming sisterhood between the Chase sisters. The whole series wrapped up so beautifully, causing more tears and lots of high beam smiles. This series was my first foray into Ms. Meader's work and I am completely hooked. From the completely compelling storytelling to the deft way she weaves these tales full of emotion, heat, and humor - this is the exact sort of one-click catnip I crave and I will always be back for more.

This is a beautifully written story about two people who know the downs of life but do not let it ruin their lives. Who knew that Violet had such a maternal instinct? Both Bren and Violet are vulnerable but hang onto the hope that they can make it together even through their bumps and missteps. This story really surprised me in how emotional and heartwarming it is and how these two wonderful characters get exactly what they deserve – LOVE!

If you've read the previous books in the series, you know that there's been tension and chemistry bubbling under the surface between Violet Vasquez and Bren St. James from the very beginning. The recovering alcoholic, professional hockey team captain and the reluctant owner of the Chicago Rebels have been avoiding and teasing each other for a long time now. I had a feeling Violet and Bren's was going to be my favorite in the series, and I wasn't wrong. It was truly my favorite.

Violet and Bren were so perfect for each other. That's it. That's all there is to say about it. No, not really, but I could end it there. Violet and Bren were just the person the other needed. Violet bridged a gap between Bren and his children, while helping him heal from his past. Bren gave Violet another part of family she desperately needed. It was all so sweet! I adored them together!

The surprise shining stars in this book were the slugs. Yes, slugs. I know. Surprising, right? Well, it wasn't actually the slugs, but Bren's daughters. Frankie and Cat were the perfection addition to the story. There's something incredibly heartwarming and attractive about an amazing dad.

I could not have picked a better ending for this contemporary sports romance series. Hooked on You was a delightful read. It was filled with amazing chemistry, an emotional connection, and a whole lot of fun.

I am so sad to see this series end. At least it is going out on a high note with what is quite possibly my favorite book of the series. I have been waiting for this story for a long time because, let's face it, a broody Scottish hockey player is pretty much my dream man. I also have been really curious about Violet, the sister who never knew the father that bequeathed her a hockey team. When I read that Violet was going to be Bren's nanny I will admit that I had reservations. This was not at all how I thought their story would unfold and I was afraid it would seem gimmicky. However, I ended up fully on board and really liked how Bren's children brought out aspects of Violet's personality that had never been seen before. Plus as much I love Bren, I ended up loving his daughters more. I really liked how Bren and Violet both had issues from the past they were still dealing that with and how they helped support each other. I would have liked Bren's ex-wife to be less of a typical, shallow villain but it was great to see the three sisters continue to grow closer even with all of their differences. All of this and I learned more about slugs than I ever thought I would.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed reading Hooked On You. The character dynamics and the great balance between storyline and romance makes this a great read. I would definitely recommend this book and series!

I was really looking forward to reading Violet and Bren’s story since they are the characters I was most curious about because of the potential of their back story. Plus I have no idea what type of chemistry they might have with each once the spotlight is focused on them. I really did enjoy the book but I probably wasn’t fully satisfied the the romance development overall. Still I still really liked it and probably still recommend it to fams of the series and those who love characters with in depth back stories.

This is the fourth book in the heartwarming Chicago Rebels series. I have enjoyed reading these fun, sweet and sexy stories filled with colorful characters and hot hockey players.

Bren St James is the sexy, tortured captain of the Rebels. He is fighting a drinking problem and does his best to try to get along with his ex-wife. He is riddled with guilt over the way he treated his family and is doing everything in his power to make up for his past mistakes. He has two daughters from his marriage ages nine and eleven and he is dedicated to making sure they are are happy. Bren is giving up his bad boy ways and that means no drinking, fighting or sex. This makes him grumpy and sullen.

Violet is a free spirit who hides her true feeling behind a sassy attitude. She comes off being flirty and flighty but underneath Violet is insecure and afraid. She is an instigator and loves to ruffle Bren’s feathers. She is continually changing her hair color from pink to purple and has tattoos all over her body. Violet and her two step-sisters inherited the Rebels hockey team from their father and Violet has been thrust into a totally different world. She is slowly getting to know her sisters and learning about hockey.

It is fun and exciting as Bren and Violet try to fight their strong attraction to each other. Although they have baggage and insecurities they are dealing with, they are good for each other and I was rooting for them the entire time. I liked Bren and Violet and found it easy to connect to them and I also enjoyed catching up with Violet’s step-sisters and their hockey boyfriends.

This is the third book in the series and so it's time for the last sister to get her man ;)

This series is about three sisters, who inherited a hockey team together, when their father died... This book is about Violet, who is the youngest sister. Violet is the result of a one night stand, and even though her father knew she excisted, he never showed any interest in her. Until he died that is.

Now Violet is part owner of a hockey team, with two sisters she doesn't know that well. She doesn't really know what is expected of her though. Her sisters have both found their place within the team, but Violet is struggeling with her role. She will probably just sell her part to her sisters, when the season is done. She really likes Harper and Isobel , so she is doing her best.

Bren St. James is the Captain of the Chicago Rebels hockey team. He has been struggeling for a long time...with his marriage/divorce, his kids and most of all...with alcohol.

He has been sober for almost a year now, and it looks like he might be getting custody of his two daughters... He is really attracted to Violet, but he thinks she is a wild child and he doesn't want anything to rock the boat when it comes to his daughters.

Little does he know, that she will be the best thing that ever happend to them and to him !!

These two were sweet and extremely HOT....damn that man. I mean who doesn't like a hot scotsman ??!!

This book was definitely my favorite out of the three. Probably because I really liked Violet and Bren was the man !!!

If you are looking for something sweet, funny and hot, you should really give this series a try !
