I was not prepared for how this memoir would move me.
This is the kind of story we all need to read. There is something in here for everyone to relate with. It will make you fall in love with your family in a new way and to take a new look at trauma you have faced.
This book will being laughter and tears in equal measure and any author that can accomplish that is going to get a rave review from me.
The publisher provided an ARC through Netgalley. I have voluntarily decided to read and review, giving my personal opinions and thoughts
I had never heard of this comedian/author before I read this book, but watching his youtube videos makes me want to watch more of his comedy. He's a good comedian and a a good writer. This heartbreaking story of his sister's mental health issues is very sad and an obvious way for him to heal and honor her memory.
I look forward to reading more things by this author.
I could relate to various aspects of this book, which I suppose is good and not so good, The author does a wonderful and honest job of depicting the grief that follows a suicide and the book is a beautiful tribute his sister. Very heartbreaking and heartwarming. Thanks for the advanced copy!
This is one of my absolute favorite books I've read in years. Adam writes beautifully and powerfully with authenticity and heart. His stories made me laugh, and cry, and I felt like I was fully present. I'm already recommending this book to so many people and look forward to being able to give it as a gift.
Good book that provided insight into depression and how to cope with suicide when it hits your family. I think it will be helpful for people who have experienced suicide of a loved one understand that sometimes there is nothing you can do and there's no need for the guilt and what ifs to plague your life. He loved his sister, he tried to help her and he was there for her when she needed him, but ultimately there was nothing he could do other than stand watch over her 24/7 that was going to prevent this from happening and now she is at peace.
