This was a good story. That had a bit of mystery, and a touch of suspense. Not to mention a group of likable characters.
However, I did struggle to begin with and I found it a little hard to get into mainly because I did feel like there was some sort of back story to this book that I wasn't aware of. And so, especially in the first few chapters I felt like I was maybe missing something. But once I got into it, I found it enjoyable to read and there were large parts that really drew me in.
Yet, I didn't connect with the romance element of this story, and to be honest, I found it a little unbelievable at times.
But overall I thought it was a good read and there was certainly more I liked than I didn't.
And I'm sure anyone who is a fan of Lora Leigh or her Romantic Suspense series such as Elite Ops. Will I'm sure enjoy this book.
When an author has you remember a book that you have not read in a while, says a lot about that author. I had the pleasure of reading Collision Point and not knowing a lot of detail about the book other than Lora Leigh wrote the book. What a surprise while reading the book I notice that Riordan Malone was Nathan’s brother. If you ever read Lora’s Elite Ops series than you should remember Wild Card.
Well in Collison Point the first in Lora Leigh new series, Brute Force. Riordan “Ray” Malone an Elite Ops agent himself, whose whole future is on the line. When the woman he loves comes under attack. But the problem is Amara Resnova doesn’t remember who he is. The only thing she knows is Ray Malone is the only person she can trust to track down the person or persons out to kill her.
Collison Point was great. Fast-paced action and hot romance will have you readers up until the crack of dawn trying to solve the mystery. At one point I thought I had solved the mystery. If this was a movie no one could have changed my mind of who the assailant was. What a shock when the mystery person was revealed and the reason behind the attacks. This was certainly a great start to this new series. It is always a pleasure to revisit with old characters.
Collision Point on sale this month. I certainly recommend this story to any fan of mystery suspense or readers who loved Lora Leigh Elite Ops series.
This is the first in a new romantic suspense series from the author. This is a bit of a spin-off series from her Elite Ops series, which I haven't read, though I do know a little about it. The hero is the younger brother of the hero from book 1 in that series. I have read the author's Tempting SEALs series, so I assumed I would like this one too, and I was right!
Riordan Malone is an amazing bodyguard. His instincts are second to none, and he knows his business. He never expected to find love on his last assignment, but he did. He also nearly lost her, and almost died himself. It's been 6 months, and he's just now getting back to healthy enough to work. When she needs his help again, he knows he won't hesitate to protect her, no matter how painful it might be for him.
Amara Resnova is the daughter of a crime lord. She knows who her father is, but she knows he loves her, often to the point of overbearing madness. She has had a constant feeling that the danger to her isn't over, and she knows she needs help. She doesn't know where to turn for that help, except to Riordan. She has no idea what type of reception she'll receive, but she has to try. She's more afraid of what will happen to her if she doesn't.
These two had chemistry like whoa from the beginning, and I loved their back and forth banter. They definitely start off at a rocky place, and I loved seeing how they both dealt with their issues, or chose not to deal with them. They were constantly antagonizing each other, and I was just waiting for their chemistry to explode in their faces. There were some very interesting twists and turns to this story, even outside of the direct suspense plot, and I enjoyed how it was all laid out in the story.
The suspense plot was intense, and I liked how the book navigated through all the issues Amara was having with someone after her. My only issue was something I can't go into too much without spoilers. But let's just say I wanted things to speed up by Riordan just telling Amara what she needed to know, without waiting for her to figure it out for herself. I know and understand why he didn't, but I still found myself annoyed several times by their utter lack of communication. Especially when what should have been a time for communication ended up with them unable to keep their hands off each other, instead of talking.
I'm sure readers of the prior Elite Ops series will appreciate the glimpses of characters from those books here, especially Riordan's brother. I am very intrigued by many of the men on Riordan's team, and I hope they will be getting books in this series. I'm also SUPER into the obvious chemistry between Amara's dad, Ivan, and one of the female side characters that showed up later in the book. I hope we'll get their story as well.
Overall, this was a good, strong, romantic suspense story with TONS of sexual tension, and plenty of awesome sexy times. The suspense plot kept me guessing all the way till the end, and I enjoyed all of the reveals. I'm definitely interested in continuing on with this series!
I spent a good portion of this book feeling like I was missing something, like I was starting a story in the middle. Considering that this the first book in the series, I thought (hoped?) that things would start to come together and backstories would be explained. As it turns out, Collision Point is the first in a spin-off series. Given that information, I don't see any way for a new reader to even come close to figuring out the complexities that led to this one. That aside, I kept reading to see if my interest would be piqued enough to warrant checking out the series that started it all. Sadly, as the story progressed, it became more and more about this couple's sexual appetites than anything else. That second half of the book is more steam than story with Riordan and Amara pawing at each other, often at completely inappropriate times. I appreciate well-written intimacy, and the author is certainly talented when it comes to turning up the heat, but the book quickly became pages and pages of sex with bits of story thrown in during the down-time. While this does show attraction and chemistry, that's lust, not love, and even though they eventually do say the words, the only thing I felt was that Riordan and Amara seemed more like hormonal teenagers than adults supposedly in a dangerous situation. In fact, at one point, Amara is finally remembering details from her abduction - something everyone has been waiting for - but wait, before we can get those answers, they absolutely can't wait another minute before having sex again. We'll get to the answers later. Given the nature of those answers, the whole thing became completely ridiculous at that point. It didn't take me long to start skimming these parts to see where the actual story would go. What I ended up with was a rushed ending stuck between steamy times and a less than satisfactory conclusion. The book closes with a somewhat open ending of a story that's not quite finished, but given my experience with this one, I won't be reading further in the series. Fans of the author and the original series would probably enjoy this one much more than I did, but I can't say that I would recommend it to a new reader.
I loved Collision Point and I was so excited to see Rory Malone (from Wild Card) finally getting a book. Rory is working doing security for Ivan Resnova, an underworld crime boss. Rory began a relationship with Ivan's daughter Amara and from there things went wrong. Not only for them but beyond their relationship. Now Amara no longer remember's the past year and has fleeting memories of Rory but she has come to him seeking answers. Rory will risk anything to help Amara and together they will enter on a journey to uncover the truth about what happened to her. Lora Leigh is a fantastic romantic suspense writer and Collision Point did not disappoint me. Lora Leigh books are all stand alone books however she is a huge series writer. Her characters are always interacting with characters from previous books and Collision Point is no exception. Prior to this was the Elite Ops series which begins with Wild Card. Characters from that will be mentioned. I recommend you reading the Elite Ops series after finishing Collision Point if you haven't already. Heck, go back to her Tempting SEALs books if you haven't read those too! As you can tell from my review, I am a long time Lora Leigh fan and recommend Collision Point to any fan of romantic suspense. As all her books it is written in dual POV and is exciting, steamy, naughty, fun and there's always a HEA for someone! I received a review copy via Netgalley and this is my freely given, honest opinion.
This is the story of Riordan Malone and Amara. If you are familiar with Ms. Leigh's Elite Ops series, then you will know that this is Nathan's little brother, getting his fated mate and doing everything to protect her from some very dangerous people. The story opens up with Amara getting rescued, after being kidnapped. What happens during the kidnapping, is a series of events that caused her to lose her memory of not only Riordan, but a whole host of other things. The usual alpha OTT attitude, followed by a lot of steamy sex scenes and action filled with suspense are rife in this story. I liked this one but didn't love it. I found some repetition and Riordan's OTT attitude started to grate on my nerves. It just stopped being cute, you know? There are cameos from other characters from the Elite Ops series and maybe a book about Ivan and Syn? I hope so, Lol. 3.5 stars.
3.5 Stars Book one in the Brute Force series, Collision Point in an enjoyable read. Rory and Amara are great characters and the story has plenty of action and romance and made for a good afternoon read.
Collision Point is the first in a spin-off series titled, Brute Force by Lora Leigh. The main character, Rory Malone has ties with the men of the Elite Ops with several of those characters making an appearance in this book. It is a book with suspense, danger and lots of steamy scenes.
The men are tough, the women want to be but still somehow are needy too. The villains are appalling but the good manages to win the battle if not the war still raging. The suspense in the story along with the danger is good but it is over shadowed by the sex. It seems to be something that the characters can’t control no matter how much danger that they are in. This suspense romance formula Ms. Leigh has used for many years in her books. It has served her well and is evident in Collision Point. I guess I was looking for more. Fans of Lora Leigh will enjoy this book.
An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley.
I did not realize that this was a spin off of another series and I really wish I would have known. I felt like I was missing some information and that bothered me somewhat. However, I did enjoy the story and really liked the author’s writing style. I just wonder if I would have given this story 5 stars had I read the other series. There are some really intriguing characters and I did not see the ending coming.
I guess I should read more because I did not realize this novel had a romance aspect which is not my cup of tea so I did not enjoy this one as I'm sure others will.
Since this is labeled book 1 - I didn't expect to feel like I was missing pieces of the story (which happen in another book, in another series). The premise is good. I did enjoy it. The heat level is up there, but it seems at dd times and I really just skimmed over them because I was more interested in the plot and suspense than the sex scenes. LOL
overall a good book, with characters I liked. I read through it pretty quick and do look forward to more!
Lora Leigh is well know as an Erotica Romance author with crazy, HOT, steamy scenes. If I had to rate that one this alone ... yes, it’s packed with lots of sexy and suspense but it fell really short for me and will be added to my DNF list.
For being a first in a series maybe I expected too much, not enough, I don’t even know. This book felt like there was more to the story like there was no way this was book one, but maybe further in the series. Needless to say, I stopped reading it. It wasn’t for me. I was lost, confused and it didn’t provide me with that great escape books in this genre generally do.
After searching online, it appears this is a spin off of her Elite Ops series, so my suggestion is read that series first, then read this one. Happy Reading!
suspense and daring. These two characters are both fighting inner demons and outer ones as well. I have to say i was a bit lost at times but in the end figured out the different connections from the past series.
Lora Leigh hit another one out of the ballpark with Collision Point, loved it. As per her usual this book was full of angst, suspense & sexual fire right from the start. This book was an edge of your seat, not wanting to put it down read. The chemistry between Riordan & Amara was combustible right from the start. The heartbreak of loss & damage from brutally pushes Amara to block the last year from her mind, but with a killer after her she turns to the only person she feels a safe connection to...Riordan. Riordan for the last 6 months has been battling back from death with a determination to get his soul & Amara back. With his brother & their teams behind him they race against time to figure out who is behind everything that’s happened to Amara. I loved The Elite Ops series & this series looks to be as interesting & suspenseful as the others. Definitely recommend.
I have been a fan of Lora Leigh for a long time, so when I was offered the book through NetGalley I jumped at the chance, however I had to throw in the towel about halfway through. I hate when I don't connect to a story and in the past I might have stuck with it to the end, but life is just to short to waste it on books that only frustrate.
The dialog between the main characters just did not make sense to me and they were acting more like horny teenagers than adults who are in a series situations. As for the plotline I pretty quickly figure out what had happened to her. So when I started to skip ahead I knew it was time to give up. Very disappointing read, though I still am a fan of the Author.
Collision Point by Lora Leigh is the first book in the new Brute Force romantic suspense series. However, even though Collision Point is opening up a new series it is a spin off from Lora Leigh’s Elite Ops series so the characters have carried over from there.
In this first book Amara Resnova seeks out Riordan Malone after having dreams of him and believing they may have a shared past. Amara had lost her memory of their time together and her father has done everything to keep Riordan away.
Now when picking this first book up I hadn’t realized that it was part of a previous series and the couple had been around before. Starting off the story is a bit confusing for me until realizing there was that something missing there from jumping into the book.
But the biggest reason this book really wasn’t for me at all was the fact that it seemed more like erotica mixed with bits of action than a romantic suspense. Basically the story was jump on each other and make out every other page to where the “story” was so buried it’s almost forgotten. I’d just much prefer a good compelling plot with a few steamy moments than the opposite of only having a few moments of plot which is how this felt so in the end this one was just not my cup of tea.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.
Another glorious hit from Lora Leigh. I could not put this book down. It was that gripping.!! Thanks for another well-written, provocative story Lora.
IF i could give this book more than 5 stars, I would. It was steamy, full of passion, gripping...I can't find enough words to describe the book. I highly recommend this book to anyone.
Collision Point is the first book in Lora Leigh’s Brute Force series, but also a spin-off of her Elite Ops. The story is definitely action-packed and chock full of romance and intrigue; but it’s also a little confusing in parts and not one of Ms Leigh better stories.
I’ll definitely read the next in the series before making too harsh a judgement, but this one was lacking.
Sexy, suspense , wonderful
Oh my goodness, Amara and Riordan had chemistry off the charts. Lora Leigh did an amazing job of weaving their complicated relationship into the multifaceted suspense story. I loved that characters from her previous books showed up as secondary characters. I could not put this book down I so wanted to get to the end to see who the guilty culprits were. This is the first of the Brute Force series, can hardly wait for book 2.
I received an advance reader copy from Netgalley.
