I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. It grabbed from the start right through to the end. Great story! Great new author for me to add to my list.

COLLISION POINT (BRUTE FORCE, #1) LORA LEIGH

Lora Leigh begins another suspenseful series with Collision Point, the first book in her new Brute Force series.

I love everything that this lovely author pens, mostly because I've never been disappointed by any of her her books. At it's heart this very romantic, and very exciting, story is magical. Riordan Malone and Amara Resnova were true soulmates. They had such a deep connection that not even death could keep them apart. I loved their chemistry, sexy scenes, and even the fights. I loved the mystery and the suspense and action, and best of all knowing that it's not over yet.

Lora Leigh creates the most unforgettable characters. There's something special about them almost like they could leap right off the pages and come to life for real. Riordan and Amara were two such characters who came to life for me. They stood out and grabbed my attention and they refused to let it go until the end. I loved Amara's spirit and Rory's stubborn Alpha ways. This book is a spin off from the Elite Ops series and it helped that I was already a bit familiar with some key characters. Although it had been some time ago since I had read it they still stood out in my memory.

Lora Leigh is an awesome writer who did a super fantastic job on this book. Collision Point was a great read and it hooked my interest in the new series. Can't wait to read the next book !

I always look forward to reading a Lora Leigh book. She generally writes stories that are suspenseful, with twists and turns, and romance. This book had those ingredients, but I didn't feel like it had enough of a storyline. Lora has a wonderful writing style and so I enjoyed the book, but wished that there would have been a little less romance and more suspense and action. (I received a copy of this book for my honest review.)

This was an entertaining, spicy book. Amara Resnova, daughter of an alleged notorious crime lord, is determined to find out the truth about what is going on around her, and refuses to let Rory Malone shield her from the facts or the danger. Rory is the fiercest of warriors and protectors, and comes from a line of men who live for one single purpose: to protect the women who own them, body and soul. Sparks are flying between them, but they are surrounded by danger. This book can be read as a standalone story, though it is book #1 in the Brute Force series. I enjoyed this book and would read other books by this author.

First off I love this author. Love her ops series but I don’t read the bread series, so needless to say I was excited to see a new series starting. The book is highly fast paced and lively. I did get frustrated on the lack of description in some parts that would have made it flow better. Example without giving spoilers. She goes to him for help but the does a 180 not trusting him and keeping secrets. It was a little odd. Then the end seemed to wrap up quickly and I had to read the page again when someone is shot but the next paragraph is standing right there. But I love this story and can’t wait for another

I received an ARC copy of the book. I was excited when I heard Ms Leigh was writing this book as I was a fan of the elite ops series but I was a little disappointed. First off you can read this as a stand-alone but will appreciate it more if you read the Elite Ops books. I was happy to see familiar characters like Nathan and Pops but had a hard time keeping the new characters straight. Also there are a lot of flashbacks/memories which were a little confusing. I’m glad Rory got a story but found it a little disjointed and I’m not sure if Amara really fit him. While I would recommend buying the book anyway to continue with the original series I would wait til it’s on sale. However the epilogue does leave hope for book two.

Collision Point was an incredibly hot romance packed full of suspense with characters willing to go to extremes for the ones they love.

Riordan Malone, a member of the Brute Force Protection Agency, is the youngest in a long line of Malone men who are willing to risk everything for the women they love. Riordan believed Amara Resnova to be that woman only for her abduction to tear them apart when after a daring rescue operation, Amara wanted nothing to do with him. Six months later, Amara suddenly returns to Riordan’s life claiming no memory of the year prior to her abduction but adamant that he can protect her from unknown enemies still after her. Unsure of each other the two embark on a mission to find out who is after her while trying to protect their hearts along the way.

Amara has spent the six months since her abduction trying to put her life back in order while also trying to remember the year prior to her abduction. The one fragment she can remember leads her to Riordan who she feels a deep connection to. Despite her belief that someone is trying to kill her, Amara is determined to live her life and can be quite stubborn when told to do otherwise. Amara is very close to her father and loves him despite his shady business dealings and his tendency to try and control her life.

Riordan has spent the last six months recovering from injuries sustained during Amara’s rescue under the belief that she doesn’t want to see him. Riordan is very much an alpha male type hero (one of my favorite types of romance heroes) and can be quite protective, so being separated from Amara is particularly difficult for him. Riordan is very close with his family and his relationship with his grandfather, which is more of a father/son relationship, was one of my favorites.

Amara and Riordan’s relationship starts out a bit slowly as she has no memory of him or their relationship in the year before her abduction. Their physical attraction is there right away, but for Amara the rest of it comes back more slowly. When the relationship does get physical, it’s extremely hot and very steamy. There is a bit of miscommunication in their relationship, but it’s understandable as she doesn’t remember him so the trust isn’t immediately there. I enjoyed the unique connection Riordan and Amara shared and it was definitely something I haven’t seen before but added an interesting layer to their relationship.

Collision Point is the first book in a spin-off series of the author’s previous series, Elite Ops, which is not something I was aware of going into this book. I have not read any of the Elite Ops books which did put me at a slight disadvantage as a number of the characters in this book are from that series and the book is written in a way that assumes you’ve read those books.

Ultimately, Collision Point ended up being a very enjoyable romantic suspense read that I likely would have enjoyed more had I read the previous series this is connected to. I will definitely be continuing with the series and look forward to reading more books from the author in the future.

This is the first book I have had the pleasure of reading from this authro and am amazed by her writing. She will definitely be on my list of top authors to one-click. This story will pull you in from the first chapter, keep you guessing, throw a few twists at you and leave you satisfied with the end.

Amara- Powerful daughter of a man

Riordan Malone- Security guard and lover

Amara suffers an event that leaves her without a memory of what happened for a time span of 11 months. She knows there is something there, something that she needs to remember but cannot. Stricken by erotic dreams and nightmares she sets out on a quest to figure out who is trying to hurt her and in the process realizes that the dreams and nightmares may in fact not be what they seem.

Riordan recently recovering from an injury comes back into the life of his former lover, the girl that holds his heart, his soul knowing that she doesn't remember him nor the love they shared.

Together they both seek the truth, the memories she has lost, the secrets he never knew and the love they must unravel to find their way back in order to stop the threat to their lives, family and the love they once shared.

I really enjoyed this book. The cast of characters were very believable. It has suspense drama and romance. I loved Riordan! He is what every woman would want in a man. The ending came as a surprise. All in all, a great read.

It's been a long while since I last read a Lora Leigh book, but when I first got started reading romance/erotic novels, I was a fan. So I was ecstatic to see an ARC pop up on Netgalley for review. After reading this book though, I think my tastes have just become more refined and the growly 'must have sex now' caveman just annoys me. If that's what you like, then you'll love this one. Every time Riordan was mad at Amara, they wouldn't talk, nope, they'd have rough sex. Rinse and repeat and that's pretty much most of the story it seems. Of course, there is an actual plot/story in there somewhere, but it's hidden behind sex scenes that I ended up just skimming over after a while.

I hadn't read any of the Elite Ops series, except maybe Live Wire and that was so long ago that I forgot. So the background of all these characters was lost on me. This is part of a new series, but to get the most from this one, you may have to go back and read a book from the Elite Ops series to learn more about the characters that you'll encounter with this one. There are a lot of names to remember and I found myself having to search back through the book to see what context the person was referenced in before.

My first big issue with the book was the first Chapter. I was utterly confused after reading the Prologue where we learn what happens to Amara and then the first chapter that takes place 6 months later. I was questioning whether or not this was a paranormal book at first given all the 'dreams' that they kept having. I mean if she had lost her memory for 6 months, the author should have led with that since I couldn't keep up and had to keep re-reading parts. It was frustrating to say the least, but I kept reading.

Amara is the daughter of a Russian that some people think is a mobster, but he really just walks a fine line between shady and legal business. He wasn't really a bad guy, just one that was overprotective of his daughter. Amara is trying to regain her memory and she's forgotten her lover and protector, Riordan (Rory). Now Rory is back in her life and he's not about to let her push him away now that he's healed and ready to move forward. There's only one problem, someone is trying to kill Amara and they need to find this person first. Since Amara doesn't remember who kidnapped her, she'll spend the whole book trying to piece together the parts of her memory that keep coming back.

This book didn't really get good until the last 30% when we start learning pieces of what happened to Amara. It thought it was incredibly slow-moving up until that point. When we do finally learn who kidnapped her, it wasn't a big 'shocker' like I expected. It was a pretty boring revelation and the ending of the 'nightmare' for Amara was abrupt. I expected more action/suspense but that's not what we got.

I liked Amara and thought that she was incredibly strong, especially given all she went through. She was a bit of a pushover when it came to her dad, at least initially, but she learned to fight back and not let him get his way all the time. I liked Rory as well, at least when it came to how tough and dedicated he was to Amara. He was sexy, knew what he want and went after it, so I respected that. I just wish he used his mouth to communicate more than for other intimate reasons.

Unfortunately, this book just didn't do it for me, but the next in the series seems a bit more promising, although I'm not sure how I feel about her dad and the woman who is young enough to be his daughter hooking up, but who am I to judge...

I know this was an ARC and editing should be forgiven to a certain extent, but I found a lot of errors in this book and that's pretty unusual, especially for an author of this caliber. The writing style was just choppy sometimes and that made it harder to enjoy this one.

Lora Leigh brings the heat and action in her newest book, Collision Course. Riordan Malone is a fierce bodyguard that will protect Amara Resnova with his life. Being the daughter of a crime lord isn't always easy, but it is especially hard when someone wants you dead. The opening chapter features a daring helicopter recuse with a shootout. That chapter sets the tone for the rest of the book.

If you are looking for a thrilling afternoon read, this book is for you!

Actual Rating: 3.5 Stars!

Collision Point is the first book in the all new, exciting Brute Force Series from author Lora Leigh. One of the first things about this book that caught my attention was the cover. The cover was absolutely stunning. I loved the colors and the way that it was set up. My eyes were completely drawn to it, and it was that moment, that I knew I had to read the synopsis. And let me just say, if the cover wasn't enough, the synopsis sealed the deal for me. I knew I just had to get my hands on this book and check it out.

Told from dual points of view, Collision Point follows the story Riordan and Amara. Riordan is a force to be reckoned with. He is tough. He is fierce. He is protective. He is the kind of guy that you would want standing up for you and keeping watch of your back. He is the best in his line of work. However, the one thing he never planned on, was Amara. From the moment he laid eyes on Amara, he knew she was the one. He would do anything for her. Anything to keep her safe. Even if it meant dying for her...Being the daughter of a notorious crime lord is anything but easy. But, don't let that fool you, Amara is a force to be reckoned with. However, Amara's world is about to be turned upside down. When she falls in love with the one person she's not supposed to, all bets are off. With danger around every corner and a year of time that is unaccounted for, Amara is about to embark on the craziest ride yet...

Overall, I thought this book was an ok read. The prologue sucked me in and had me asking a million questions. I was totally captivated and couldn't wait for more. I enjoyed Riordan and Amara together. You could tell that the two of them shared an intimate past and that they once meant the world to each other. I loved their chemistry and looked forward to when all the pieces to the puzzle clicked for Amara.

Collision Point is a fast paced romantic suspense novel that will keep you on the edge your seat and will leave you guessing the entire time. From kidnappings and danger around every corner to amnesia and the thirst for truth, to love and those unforgettable sexy moments, this book hits all the marks for a suspenseful read. I think this series is off to a solid start and would definitely be open to checking out more from this author in the future.

This read was interesting to say the least. I have enjoyed some of this authors books and was excited to read this book and new series. I think maybe knowing it had a series of other characters that had relating stories beforehand would have allowed me to read that series before this book. It said #1 so I was like Great! A beginning series! Needless to say one of my pet peeves is to start readinng a book in the middle of a series and that is how this book is. Reading it seemed like I was missing some vital information. Then, I thought towards the end I should read this other series first. I was seriously bummed because I already knew how it ended for the other characters. So there ya have it. This author is a good writer. The plot was awesome and the ending was intense. RC received for review

New series that is a spin-off from the Elite Ops series.

The story was choppy and a little all over the place, but Rory was hot. All of the Elite Ops team was even Grandad. I'm not really sure if Grandad had a point in going on the mission. Rory was a wee bit of a jerk to Amara at times especially after what she had been through. Her father was a little weird. It was just okay and not as good as some of the other books I've read by Ms. Leigh.

Now if the next story is who they allude to in the epilogue...I think I'm going to pass on it.

"Collision Point" is the first in the Brute Force series by Lora Leigh, but this is not a series that stands on its own precisely. It seems to be a spin off of the Elite Forces books by the same author, as references are made to characters and relationships that were clearly the focus of previous books. The plot of 'Collision Point' stands on its own, but I would caution readers against starting with this book. It's not that the backstory of the other characters is *necessary* per se, but there are references and details that I'm sure I didn't pick up on, since I've only read the Breed series by this author. Overall, I think readers will get more out of this book and enjoy it a lot more having connected with these characters previously (especially since I suspect the male lead is someone whose HEA fans have been anticipating).

The book itself was interesting - decent pacing, well constructed from a technical standpoint (and the few places where it wasn't perfect I'm willing to ignore because I was reading an uncorrected proof) and generally well written. Characters were three dimensional and engaging, and the suspense elements were well placed. This is most definitely a novel that trends more toward the erotic end of the spectrum - lots of explicit sex scenes, which is something Lora Leigh does in most (if not all) her work so I doubt most people will be surprised by it.

Overall I found the book an enjoyable way to pass the time. As a vacation, plane ride or bus commute book, this is a solid option and one that I think a number of fans will enjoy.

The premise of this story was great! There was twists and turns. Answers and lies hidden beneath missing memories. The only thing that kept this from being a concise story was all the sex scenes. Whenever Roardan and Amara would argue they’d have sex. The scenes went on and on. I have nothing against sex scenes except for when they take away from the storyline. Wow!!! This book definitely delivers! The prologue is intense, graphic, and thrilling. You would expect the book to fail to maintain that initial level of intensity but it doesn't. Instead, leigh's storytelling winds you up tighter and tighter in the plot leading you to a heart pounding ending. The romance between Rory and Amara is perfection. Bad guys, an explosive romance and a plot that keeps you on your toes....what's not to love?

COLLISION POINT is the beginning of a brand new series but as I was reading I felt that there were stories for some of the characters that I was missing. Some quick research at Fantastic Fiction tells me that some of these characters were introduced in the Elite Ops series which I have on TBR mountain. The basic story is that Riordan Malone was hired as a bodyguard for Amara Resnnova. They fell in love, started a hot affair, then he was sent on an assignment, and, while he was gone, she was kidnapped. He found her severely beaten and with broken bones and rescued her. During the course of the rescue he was shot multiple times and died three or four times before he got to the hospital and out of the operating room.

He tries to contact her and is denied by her family who says she doesn't want to talk to him. Then she comes running to him because she's had dreams that tell her that he is the only one who she can trust. She has had a number of close calls which tells her that whoever kidnapped her and wanted her dead hasn't given up. The trauma of her abduction has made her lose all memory of the last year of her life. The last thing she remembers is meeting him when her father hires him to be her bodyguard.

Riordan was getting ready to go claim her when she came looking for him. He formed a connection with her that makes her his. He is willing to die for her. The sexual tension is high between the two of them despite Amara's lack of memory of their previous relationship. Much of the book is foreplay between the two of them. Lots of the rest describes their sexual encounters in tedious detail.

The romance plot far outweighs the suspense plot in this story. In fact, when the villain was revealed, my first reaction was "who's that?" Fans of Leigh's steamy romances will enjoy this one. People looking for suspense should look elsewhere.

DNF

I have a checkered history with Lora Leigh’s work and haven’t read one of her books in about a decade. I truly disliked many of her Elite Ops novels (and characters!) but figured ‘new decade, new series, interesting premise… I’ll give it a shot!’ when COLLISION POINT came across my desk. Unfortunately, I barely got a quarter of the way in before being unable to go on, since COLLISION POINT embodies everything that drove me crazy in the Elite Ops series: disgustingly Neanderthal hero, idiotic unlikeable heroine, sex scenes that are copious rather than well written, and choppy, uneven writing (not to mention the shoddy editing… ohh, my eyes!). So, no, even ~10 years later, Lora Leigh is not for me.
