Although I’m not generally a huge fan of time travel stories, this one held my interest. With different time periods in place, there were so many different directions that the plot could have taken, and I kept reading to find out what would happen!! Thanks to NetGalley for supplying this ARC!
One of my new favorite books! This author has such a way with words the pages flew by in no time! I can’t wait to see the next work by this author! This was such a joy to read!
I received an ARC of this book from Netgally but due to issues with my Kindle, I couldn’t access the book, I only *just* read it. And it was worth the wait!!! The Dream Daughter is a very original, engaging story. I finished it in 3 days, anxious to read more and more of the story. I wanted to come back & review this even though I’m well past due because this story was so amazing & I enjoyed it so much it deserves another 5 star review.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys heartfelt stories about family, Mother’s, daughters, time travel, and/or Vietnam. No one else could have successfully entwined these different subjects so beautifully.
Everything you're looking for in a pageturner. Time travel brings Hunter Poole into the 1960's where he meets physical therapist Caroline Grant. Hunter is introduced to Caroline's sister who becomes his wife. Everything is going swimmingly until Caroline's unborn child experiences health issues that are treatable in the future. Read it already!
I jumped at the chance to read the new book but Disney Chamberlain. Once I realized it’s departure from her other works, I grew hesitant. Finally on a rainy day I picked it up and devoured it. Don’t let the time travel deter you. Stop what you’re doing and read this book. It’s such an amazing story of love.
Absolutely adored this book!!!! Diane Chamberlain is a favorite of mine. Time travel is intriguing for me. Wish it was available. None of her books have disappointed me including this one. Hurry and get it
I enjoy time travel stories and Diane Chamberlain’s writing, so this was a winner for me! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a complimentary copy of this book.
Diane Chamberlain never disappoints, but I think this was my favorite by her yet! This enchanting science fiction story is actually one of the love between a mother and daughter.
Very enjoyable! I love any books about time travel, and this one definitely hit the spot. It was captivating and kept drawing me on, wanting to know what was going to happen next. There may want to be a trigger warning on the back of the book or in a blurb about 9/11.
Diane Chamberlain is such favorite for me, I couldn't wait to dive into this one. I buddy read this book with several ladies and for the most part we all really liked it. I have to admit that it isn't a personal favorite of mine when compared to other novels by the same author. I like realistic books. This book took a turn I wasn't expecting, which was fine, but it lost me a little when she decided to do that. Without saying what it was, I still enjoyed the story and the characters overall. So I allowed myself to suspend belief and enjoyed it regardless. It was a wonderful book to discuss and we talked a lot about this one!

Thank you to the publisher for providing me an advanced digital copy of THE DREAM DAUGHTER. You can basically sign me up for any book revolving time travel, and this book was no different. Diane Chamberlain is a new author to me, but I will definitely be reading more of her work in the future. I loved this emotional story about family, and the love that mothers have for their children. This one was great!
Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for the allowing me to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
This read just blew me away completely!
Yes, I had read some great comments from fellow readers, but I was also a bit apprehensive.
knowing that the story evolved around time travel.
I am not a fan of supernatural themes in books or movies for that matter, and was afraid that I would not be able to fully surrender myself to the story, but boy was I wrong about that!
The story of Caroline (Carly) Sears grabbed me right from the start.
It's the 1970's and while Carly just lost her husband when she finds out that her unborn child suffers from a life threatening heart condition. Devastated by the news, it is her brother in law who offers her an unbelievable chance to save her baby. It will take a lot of courage on Carly's part and (literally) a great step into the unknown, but then again, she would do anything to keep her baby.
This book just kept surprising me, it’s full of twists and turns and packed with sympathetic characters.
All in all I can honestly say that this book is unlike anything I ever read before. I strongly recommend this book if you are ready for an emotional, rollercoaster ride through time.
This is the first book that I have read by Diane Chamberlain, and it won't be my last. I really enjoyed the alternating time lines. I was really able to relate to this story as a mother, and found the characters all really relatable. Definitely grab this book for a great read.
Caroline is devastated. Her husband has been killed in the Vietnam War. All that remains of their life and him is the unborn child she is carrying. The one connection she has left to her husband.
That connection is threatened when the doctor discovers that the baby has a heart condition, a condition that will be fatal no matter what.
Caroline will do anything to save her child. Even something that sounds absolutely insane, but what other choice does she have?
This is an emotional story about the lengths one woman will go to save the life of her unborn child. The trust that she will have to put into her family and a love that transcends time.
This novel is pretty hard to describe without giving it all away, but the basic premise is that the main character, Caroline, is pregnant and finds out her unborn baby has a heart defect that will be fatal. But her brother-in-law reveals that he has time travelled from the future, and although it is 1970, he can get her to 2001 where she can have fetal surgery that might save the baby. This book seems to have a lot of raves, but I have mixed feelings about it. There were definitely parts I really enjoyed. However, this book just didn't feel believable to me. I've read plenty of books with time travel and other science fiction/fantasy type stuff that I have been able to suspend my disbelief for, but the way time travel was described in this book just didn't make sense to me. Plus, there were so many different plot twists that it felt a little melodramatic and even mawkish/emotionally manipulative. However, all that being said, I did really want to find out how things turned out, and I did mostly enjoy reading it. So I'm going to average all of that out to 3 stars.
Such a great, easy-to-read time travel novel. Many are difficult to read, in my opinion, trying to keep timelines straight all the while it's jumping around. Another homerun by Diane Chamberlain.
The Dream Daughter by Diane Chamberlain is the story of one mother’s fight to save her unborn daughter. The story opens in 1965 where Caroline “Carly” Grant is an intern at a physical therapy facility where a mysterious man named Hunter Poole insists that she be his physical therapist. This man is strange and seems familiar with information that puzzles Carly. Fast forward to April 1970, Carly is a widowed pregnant woman who is being seen by her doctor. Her husband, Joe, has been killed in Vietnam and she is staying with her older sister, Patti and brother-in-law, Hunter. The doctor reveals that her baby has a serious heart defect and would not survive outside the womb. Soon she will hear a story from Hunter that will blow her mind and possibly give her baby a chance. Hunter is from the future and his idea will send Carly to the future to a time of medical advancements to save her unborn daughter. Will Carly take the chance? Will her baby survive? Will she be able to return home?
I received a copy of The Dream Daughter from NetGalley for my honest review. It took a while for me to be able to sit down and read but once I did, I could not put it down. From the open chapter to the last page, the story of Carly’s journey to save her baby gripped me that I couldn’t wait to see how it ended. It is a beautiful story with twists and turns. It wasn’t the story I was expecting, it was so much more. Just when you think you have it figured out, you found out that you don’t. My favorite line from the book, which sums up the story for me, is “The love of a mother could make a hero out of everyday woman.” I highly recommend The Dream Daughter!

A stunning book written from multiple perspectives, THE DREAM DAUGHTER is one you can’t miss. I can’t wait to read this book again.
The Dream Daughter was a fun read. Although unrealistic, I found myself wanting to finish the book. The story line was interesting and the characters were well developed
I have read most of Diane Chamberlain's books. I was looking forward to reading "The Dream Daughter" but when I started reading it and it involved time travel I didn't think I would enjoy it. But I think this is one of her best yet. The book really made me think how I would handle some of the situations the main character Carly Sears had to get through. She was much more brave than I think I could ever be. This is a great book club book, there will be a lot of discussion revolving this book. Definitely a 5 out of 5 stars!! Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher of this book for my ARC copy for honest review.
