A hot steamy love triangle. I enjoyed the emotional storyline and the steamy sex scenes. Another great read from Opal Carew
I have been wondering what to do with this book for a while now. It opens with a wife Abi who has been wanting a divorce from her husband Liam for a couple of years now. He won’t give it to her because he still loves her and wants to stay married to her. No he did not cheat on her, but I do understand both of their sides. Now she has always liked Del who has always been her friend and also a friend of Liam. One weekend when she they all go to a weeding thinking that she would be going into Del’s room she actually is in Liam’s, and yes they act like they are still married. Of course when Del finds out he is upset because he always thought he the two of them would get together now that she was getting a divorce. Instead of leaving all together he decides to go on a trip with the two of them, and this is when it turns into a threesome. Great for her but she is still married to Liam because they have decided to stay married. A reason because of the weekend from the wedding. Now Del agrees to this whole plan and my only thing with him is that he is selling himself short. He will never have what the other two have. He always wanted to be married and have a family but I really don’t think this is the way he was thinking it would happen. When I got to the end I felt if Abi really loved Del she would have let him go but I guess it is better to have two guys than one.
Opal Carew sure knows her stuff! Wowsers! Keep the fan on ladies! This won't be everyone's cup of tea but I love these kind of stories to escape from the daily grind!
Steamy sex! This wasn't your typical Opal Carew novel. Usually there's a storyline to enjoy behind the red hot passion, but this one fell quite flat. I enjoyed the connection between Abi & Liam, and even could have enjoyed Del ... there just wasn't enough story there to sink my teeth into. Very disappointing read!
As always OC provides a hot, spicy read, The story itself was a bit angsty for my liking but in the end it mostly won me over...
Three stars for "X Marks the Spot"; Ms Carew introduces us to Abi a young women who finds herself wanting to move on with her life, separated from her husband for two years waiting on him to sign the divorce papers Abi finds herself reluctantly looking forward to her brothers wedding . The wedding brings the oppurtunity to see her freind Del. Del was the first person she met when attending college for her masters ; a freind of her brother's who stopped in to watch ove her a dell her acclimate .Abi had feelings for Del form the start but Del's sense of honor would not allow him to move forward with his mutual attractions to his freinds sister and as it turned out Del is the one who introduced Abi to her husband Liam .
With some meddling by Abi's sister Jamie the perfect opportunity to actually get Del to engage with her on more than freindly level is at hand , that is until Del switches rooms with his freind Liam, thinking he is actually helping to spare Abi from seeing him at the wedding ; leaving Abi naked in the wrong mans bed, her husband and hopefully soon to be X .
Abi makes some poor decisions , such as staying in Liam's bed, when she really wants Del.
This action prompts Liam to push for more time alone with Abi to work through and talk about feelings and possibly keeping their mrriage together , which Abi keeps falling in his bed to spite having finally moved on to a relationship with Del and being in his bed..
For me Abi's wishy washy , I love both of them and she can not decide was driving me nuts , until this wishy washy Abi turned into naughty bold Abi asking for threesomes. This is where MsCarew excels because she writes sexy, steamy and erotic scenes ever for these three that eventually lead to a HEA for all.

A steamy smoking hot romance book that is a great introduction to this author. Well written. Great characters .
This was so different than what I thought going into it. I am fan of taboo romances but this was hard to get into. It went a little too far for me. I loved the blurb of this book but once I started reading it I only got about half way and had to stop.
I voluntarily read an advanced review copy of this book
I liked this book. It is very far from a cookie cutter romance and filled with heat and romance. If you are more into reading about traditional relationships then this may not be the book for you....but if you are on the fence or into reading about all of the different shades of gray that are out there then you will really like this book
Overall, this book was good. I had moments where I wanted Abi to just sit down and figure out what she wanted but in the end I had a huge smile on my face and enjoyed every second of her HEA.
I wanted a light hearted book to read following some really tough ones, so I selected Ms. Carew’s book. I’d like to say I loved it, but I found that I had some issues with it (and it wasn’t the sex).
The central issue was Abi, the female character. Both Liam, her husband, and Del, her friend and want-to-be lover love Abi. Both want her for their own. Abi can’t choose.
That’s all I’ll say.
Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and provide an honest, and short review.
I am going to be completely honest, I am not a fan of a love triangle. I usually like one better than the other and end up hating a character and in the end, not enjoying the book. I wanted to give a triangle a try again... and well, I was left not hating it, but it is still not my cup of tea. I'm sorry.
True to Opal Carew, fashion this was a very sexy books. She can write a scene!
Abi, oh girl! I could not connect with her. She was just to much back and forth, wishy washy behavior. All I could think of was how she ended up getting her way and that was not an attractive quality for me, and there lies the problem I had with this book. Abi, was my issue. I was hoping to get over it m but sadly I did not like her as my leading lady.
Liam and Del, both had likable qualities, but I could not believe they let Abi manipulate the situation at all times. And.... hello! Liam's best friend hooks up with his wife? Where is the bro code? This story was told between trysts in bed hopping. I really wanted to want more of these characters. I wanted personal growth and maybe pick one and see where that could take you. But Abi, got her way and they all lived HEA.
X Marks the Spot by Opal Carew is a hot and seductive tale of lust, passion, and betrayal. The story begins with a young bitter woman trying to move on from a tragedy that has consumed her. What is making matters worse is that her husband won't sign the divorce papers.
Abi want's a fresh start, and try to find some sort of happiness.
But soon she finds herself between two men, who will fight for her every step of the way. My heart hurt for these two men, she was stringing them along the way manipulating and breaking their hearts in two.
X Marks the Spot was a slow burn that builds up to a full out menage, that left my dirty bits tingling.

10 stars- What an amazing book. I loved every page of this story. Once again Opal has a winner. The chemistry, interaction, and romance between the main characters was on fire. What happens when the person you love ends up being someone else? This was a story that shows you don't always know what you want until it is too late. Thank you for allowing me to read and write about this.
3.5 STARS!!
This story wasn't to entertaining at the beginning, but I'm glad I didn't give up on my reading so fast.
This book is not about cheating, is about 2 men willing to share the woman they love and whom in returned loves them back. While there is some jealousy and winning throughout the story, everything changes when the three of them start interacting together.
If you're a fan of Ménage beautifully well written, this book is for you. Abi, Del, and Liam's story was very interesting and I really enjoyed following their journey.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and publisher St. Martin's Press in exchange for my honest review.
Man... this read was a hard one for me. While the intimate scenes are pretty hot the emotional side messed with me. I was Team Liam from the go and I honestly wanted to knock Abi upside the head. Like, how many times does your husband have to say & show that he loves you before it actually seeps in?!?! And then there’s Del. He friend-zoned himself and totally regrets it. And while yeah, that sucks; I still wanted Abi to snap the heck out of her stubbornness and end up back with her husband. And while yeah that happens, that’s not all that happens & I didn’t like how she went about it all. Still married, sleeps with her husband then goes to Del and sleeps with him like it’s all good. There was just too much flip-flopping for me. Of course, to each there own.
Somehow X Marks the Spotis the first book I've ever read by Opal Carew. Yes I know I'm late to the game, but I can say I'm happy to have a back list of books to read now that I've discovered Ms. Carew's books.
I honestly liked all three of the main characters in X Marks the Spot. My heart broke a bit about Abi and Liam's history with the loss of their baby, but I still liked them both as well as Del. My only real issue was the fact the three of them waited so long to find a solution to their situation. Abi and Liam were incredible together as were Abi and Del. I could tell that Abi loved both men and both men loved her. I'm here to tell fans of super sexy romances, Ms. Carew writes some pretty smoking hot love scenes between the couples, and once they became a ménage, they were even hotter.
I did feel like X Marks the Spotmoved a bit slowly in the beginning. Not when it came to the love scenes and they were there from the beginning, but from a real relationship standpoint. There were even times I found Abi to be a bit too whiny when she had two amazing men in love with her and she was in love with them as well. I did understand her overall dilemma and let some of it go. Even both Liam and Del had their moments of "woe is me" when Abi was with the other man. I have to say I almost didn't finish reading this book, until Liam walks in on Abi and Del and he is completely entranced in watching them together. It was the first time I had hope for the three of them to work it out. Honestly it was the point I started loving the characters rather than just liking them.
While X Marks the Spot did start out a bit slow for me, I really did end up enjoying the story. I found myself absolutely loving Abi, Del, and Liam as individuals and as a group. I have to say Liam was probably my favorite character by the end of the book and really hope we get to see the three characters in future books from Ms. Carew.
Rating: 3.75 Stars (B-)
Super steamy romance that will keep readers combing through at a breakneck pace.
Well, the only thing I can say is the story is ok. I tried several times but I just couldn't like Abi, mainly because it seemed that it was all about her and the two guys were just an add-on. I have read these type of stories before, ala Maya Banks but for whatever reason I just didn't care.
X Marks the Spot is a stand-alone novella by Opal Carew. While celebrating Abi's brother's wedding, Abi is determined to act on the crush she has had on Del since the two of them attended college together. While trying to make her move on Del, Abi finds herself in Liam's bed by accident. Liam, deciding its time to renew efforts to win his estranged wife back uses Abi's mistake to his benefit and seduces her.
The idea for this book is good in concept. I enjoy a denied passion love story. The romantic encounters are pretty sexy and serve the purpose of getting your blood pumping. The scenarios are motivated mainly by Abi's indecision on which of the male characters she wants, which leads to bed-hopping between the two men, and eventually the three of them together. There is less time to develop characters the shorter the story is, and here they are a little one dimensional, but this fact may not matter depending on one's perspective. The story unfolds into a string of sexual fantasies and not much else, which is not necessarily a bad thing. The men are sexy and in love. The woman gets what she wants in the end, and everyone is happy. In between, they all spend a lot of time between the sheets. If lustful thoughts are what you want out of your erotic romances this one will deliver.
I received an ARC copy from NetGalley and St. Martin's Press in exchange for my honest opinion. All opinions are my own and may not be identical to others. I urge all readers to come to their own conclusions.
