This was an engaging historical romance, set in London but featuring a few proud Scottish families. If it wasn’t for the heroine’s selfish silliness toward the very end this may have earned 5 stars instead of four. Yet, any way you carve it, it’s a good read with steam, spirit and a surprise or two.
I received an ARC of this book, from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Charm, quality time, humor, sex appeal, and a full frontal (hehe literally) assault on her defenses which included slipping a little Scottish brogue into his vocabulary and donning a kilt to show her he respected and appreciated their shared Scottish heritage. I was giddy. I swooned. I enjoyed every moment of his pursuit of Isobel’s heart since settling for her hand in marriage just wasn’t good enough. He wanted all of her and gave her the space and time she needed to finally let go and grab onto their HEA with both hands. Swooooonnnnnnnnn!
There is no “mystery” subplot that tends to creep into historical novels these days. The nuts and bolts of the novel is Isobel and Nick’s romance and their obstacles. They meet, they have a torrid affair and sizzling tryst, lost touch, run into one another during the London season and sabotage one another’s prospects while coming to terms with their fated love affair. Thought their time together was initially brief, they felt like friends and basing their eventual romance on their camaraderie made their bond all the more genuine. Neither perfect, but perfect for one another. Oh, how they made me squeee and laugh with their banter!
I received with thanks an ARC copy of What a Highlander’s Got to Do (Untamed Highlanders #5) from St Martin’s Press & Netgalley.
This is my true and honest review of What a Highlander’s Got to Do by Sabrina York. This was published in 6th March 2018
This is another hit from the amazing Sabrina York. I have loved everything from this author. She knows how to write a brilliant historical romance. Yes, is number five but this can be read a standalone novel.
Give it a go if you love highlander’s and a good historical romance.
Enjoyed this story, but thought it would have been helpful to learn more about why isobel was so afraid of marriage. She was a strong woman,.. loved Nick. He was kind, funny, loyal, protective, and madly in love. Very nice story.
This is Nick and Isobel’s story. She was a Scot and he was half English. She never wanted to marry neither did he. Their were many misunderstandings. They get betrothed. She wants to escape. It all works out in the end. It was hot. I read it in one sitting.
Another exciting read from author Sabrina York. It was interesting that Nick, an English lord, seemed to be laughing at all the angst the rest of the world was going, and he merely above it all. The character of Isobel is what we expect in a Scottish lass... strong, feisty, and stubborn.lots of steamy scenes interspersed with moments of humor. An entertaining read.
This author delivers another entertaining tale as the reader keeps turning pages to see how this Scottish lass and English Viscount find their love.
Ebook from netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.
This was a fun read! The story was well paced and the characters lovable! There is a lot of humor and steamy moments! Also there is a little bit of angst. The banter between Nick and Isobel was entertained and fun!Isobel is a stubborn and strong heroine and Nick is sweet! Overall it was a great read that I enjoyed most of the time!
A Sottish Lass meets handsome stable master, she thinks! Is she ever wrong! Nick, a Viscount, has found the perfect feisty lass, beautiful, and defiant! They both are different illusions of who the other is.
I highly recommend!

Isobel Dounreay Lochlannach hates the English. She would never marry one of them! In fact, she plans on not marrying at all if she can help it. Isobel does want to experience passion and who better to do it with than the attractive new stable boy. After a short fling, she can get on with her life.
Viscount Nick Wyeth feels bad for deceiving Isobel when he learns that she is actually a lady. When he arrives in London and learns she is there, he picks up his pursuit of her. Nick knows she is the one he wants, but how to convince her that not all Englishmen are worthless may be another story, considering he still owes her a massive apology about misleading her into believing he was someone of no consequence when they met. No doubt, sparks will fly between them both.
Author Sabrina York has written another wonderfully entertaining novel. WHAT A HIGHLANDER'S GOT TO DO is a thrill ride a minute. The heroine, Isobel, is a strong, bold, capable woman who wants what she wants in life and is not afraid to go after it. Her match, Nick, is your typical alpha male, a little overconfident, sexy as hell and also willing to fight for what he wants. The chemistry between these two is off the charts! Their story is very enjoyable. I am anxiously awaiting Ms. York's next historical romance.
Rated 3.5!
Sabrina York is a favorite author of mine and her latest book tells the story of Isobel Dounreay Lochlannach and Nick Wyeth, Viscount Stirling. Isobel meets Nick in Scotland while out riding and assumes he's a stable boy and Nick does nothing to dissuade her. Their connection is immediate and Isobel gives into her lust figuring she'll never see the stable boy again. She's shocked when she meets Nick again at a London ball and he's the heir to a duke. She's furious he lied to her and even though their connection is undeniable, she vows never to marry. Nick is besotted and must do everything in his power to change Isobel's mind. Can this two independent spirits come together and make a go of it?
I really enjoyed this book especially the hero, Nick. He was willing to do whatever he could to win Isobel's hand and change her mind about marriage. Isobel was a little annoying at times, always spouting that she's a Scottish lass and will not be tamed and will never marry. The story moves along at a good pace and there's a few twists and turns that will keep the reader turning the pages until the end. Fans of Scottish romances will definitely enjoy this one.
Highlander sufferance?
I just did not identify with Isobel Dounreay Lochlannac. And the idea that she'd give her virginity to a handsome stable lad is just not realistic for the times, although it could be argued that it's realistic for this particular headstrong, wild, young Scots woman.
Of course the stable lad is really Nick Wyeth, Viscount Stirling. Unfortunately, despite the swoon worthy description of Nick, and his devotion to Isobel who is determined not to marry an Englishman, I found him somewhat flat.
I was so over Isobel by third of the way through the novel. Sadly my sympathies for the story as a whole just didn't engage.
A NetGalley ARC
Two stubborn characters.
Isobel wants to be free and she knows that marriage means one more of a kind of prison to women.
One of her freedoms is wanting to be with the man she wants, and that's exactly what she thinks when she meets Nick.
However, after this first encounter in combustion, Nick, a British lord but with Scotch blood in the veins, will do anything to show Isobel that she only has to gain by staying with him.

Isobel Dounreay Lochlannach the heroine of this story is no fan of the English! Especially those of nobility and has no intention of marrying one that’s for sure. Than one day on her trip to London she bumps into the most swoon worthy stable lad. She meets this handsome man whom she thinks is a stable lad by his wardrobe and speech. Well in fact he is Viscount Nick Wyeth, the hero of this tale, plus heir to one of the wealthiest domains in England. Nick, also from first meeting does not believe she’s a Scottish heiress. He assumes from her spitfire actions, beautiful, Isobel to be a maid. Someone he can have a casual dalliance with! As it turns out he quickly finds out whom Isobel and her family connections are. If anyone found out they kissed they would be forced to be married immediately! Something neither wants especially Isobel yet he also knows he wants this Scottish beauty to call his own!
As Isobel’s family are hoping to find she and Catriona a match this season. Something Isobel dreads, she loves her Scottish country more than anything. The last thing she would want is an English nobleman for a bloody husband! Nick soon finds out that Isabel's family have whisked her away before seeing him again! So he is left with one choice and one choice alone and that’s to go after her!
Even though Nick has only met Isobel briefly he is obsessed and needs to see her again. He plans on turning her head and opinion on Englishmen. Can he sway his stubborn, opinionated spitfire?
You must read this fabulous story it is absolutely breathtaking. If you are like me and a huge fan of the (Untamed Highlander) series you will especially love this heroine. As it is none of other than the five year old girl all grown up now from “Susana and the Scot”” the second book of this phenomenal series. You can easily read as a stand alone book too.
Beautiful setting, breathtaking dialogue and phenomenal plot lines was absolutely magnificent! A fast page riveting adventure filled with star crossed lovers, mystery, supsense, steamy passion, love and more! All the element historical romance readers love! I could not put this book down!
I absolutely loved this story and can’t recommend it enough!

I received a complimentary ARC copy from Swerve publishers through netgalley. I voluntarily agreed to read, review and blog an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts, ideas and opinions are my own.
This book was very entertaining and very funny at times. The author has done a bang up job of writing highlanders like nobody's business. I just love those untamed men who wear their kilts so well.
Even though this is a series, it can be read as a stand alone.
Isobel Dounreay Lochlannach is a Scot from the top of her had down to her toes. She has no use for marriage and really doesn't want to go to London with her family. While she's out riding her horse. she meets a very handsome guy who is dressed like a stable lad. Isobel flirts with him and they agree to meet the next day. They meet again and share a kiss that really is hot! Isobel just wants to see how things go with this guy, but she knows that she will have to leave soon.
Nick Wyeth is really an Englishman who has the title of Viscount Stirling. He is really taken with Isobel and sets out to seduce her. But then he finds out she is a untouched lass, well things get complicated after. She wants nothing to do with marriage, but Nick is honorable and wants to do the right thing.
There are lots of adventure and lots of kisses to get anyone heated up. I just love Ms York's writing and can't wait til the next one.
I appreciate Net Galley for the title in which I gave an honest review.
I quite liked this story and found many scenes funny. I loved the H Nick, and liked the h Isobel. The plot was good and paced nicely, though the ending was a little rushed. This is the 5th book in the series, and can be read as a standalone, however you do know that there were previous books based on the odd comment. Overall a good historical novel that firmly held my attention (housework can wait, right?) and was an entertaining read. *I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and this is my voluntary and honest review.
I really enjoyed this book about a young woman who just didn’t know her own mind and a determined young man who did. It has twists and turns you don’t see coming and it keeps you on your toes . Enjoyed it would recommend.
Nick Wyeth, Viscount Stirling rescues a maid who he thought was on a runaway horse to only find a feisty Scottish maid who mistakes him for a stable lad. He steals a kiss and he thinks she is just a maid too, but soon learns his mistake when he returns to the house where Isobel is staying. He’s disappointed to say the least, he’s instantly attracted to Isobel and is disappointed she’s not the simply the maid he first thought she was. Isobel wants nothing to do with London and high society and Nick wants nothing but to call this wild Scottish lass his own and sets out to make her his own. A truly awesome story of two strong willed characters who eventually realize they’re perfect for each other.
This is my honest opinions after I voluntarily read a copy of this book that was provided to me with no requirements for a review.
I really, really needed a light fun read, and that's exactly what I got with What a Highlander's Got to Do by Sabrina York.
I have a weakness for Scottish men and women, especially in historical romance, and so when my brain needed an escape, I reached for this one. I jumped into the series at book #5 (this can be read completely as a stand-alone, by the way), and now I have to go back and read all of the previous books in the series because I'm in love with this feisty family!
The story is certainly an example of a strong woman/beta male historical romance, which is something I'm liking more and more. The main couple had intense chemistry, and I could not get enough of them together.
I even fell for all of the side characters, something that doesn't happen very often. I actually started reading this book at about 11:00 pm and stayed up all night to finish until about 3:00 am. The story was fun and made me smile, something I've been sorely needing.
My only quibble was that the female MC bothered me a bit with her reluctance to see what was right in front of her face towards the end, and I sort of wanted to shake her to wake her up to what a perfect guy the male MC was (in and out of a kilt!). However, I do love a woman who can defend herself, so I let my issues go a bit.
If you are in the mood for a low-angst, fun, light historical romance with some kilts, some brogues, and a highlander lass who knows how to use a bow and arrow, then pick up What a Highlander's Got to Do. It was just what I needed.

I like Sabrina York's books but for some reason this one main female character, Isobel, got on my nerves. The plot is ok but her personality gets annoying.
