A story of the “worm” turning and the devastating and far reaching consequences. I felt angry for Charlotte and annoyed at Harriet who to me achieved her own salvation at a high cost to others perhaps this was not what the author intended!
I found the storyline plausible but thought the abduction a little “rushed”
There is a lot of Psychological thrillers about missing children at the moment but, wow this is stands out from the rest.
Charlotte is Harriet’s best friend and only friend. She lives with her Husband Brian and daughter Alice. Charlotte is divorced and has 3 children of her own. It’s the day of the summer fete and Charlotte offers Harriet to take Alice to the fete. As Harriet is going on a book keeping course. But, Brian doesn’t know this as she would stop her from going.
It’s the day of the fete, and Charlotte is at the fair with the 4 children. When they come to the Jungle inflatable when Charlotte kids return but, Alice seems to have vanished. The police and Charlotte’s friends blame her for the disappearance saying that she wasn’t watching her. Even to go as far as her friends putting things on social media about her. Charlotte feels guilty.
You know when you get a book and you know from the very first page that this book is going to be good. Well, this is one of them. I couldn’t put this down. I thought this expertly written and very well planned out. I could feel the tension between Harriet and her husband Brian. The way the author described is him manipulating her and trying to convince her that she was losing her mind. They are a lot of twists and turns in this book and would say that this is not the usual child missing scenario. You will just have to read it to find out.
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book.
Really enjoyed the book. It shows that nobody ever knows what goes on behind closed doors and nobody can ever truly know about somebody else's past. Demonstrates the extraordinary lengths parents will go to, to protect their children and the amzing bond between friends.
A thrilling psychological story. A little girl goes missing from a school fete and who has taken her??
The main suspects are Charlotte, who was looking after her whilst her mother Harriet is on a course.
I liked the way the story was told, from Harriet's in the past and Charlotte's present day. The ending was a surprise. Well written, a nail biting read which leaves you wondering 'who dunnit'

This is not a genre of book that I would normally read, but I really enjoyed the plot and the ever increasing twists in the story. To begin with I found it rather slow and unsurprising. However as the story progressed it became extremely exciting and unpredictable. The strained relationships between the dysfunctional adults were extremely well portrayed and believable.
A thoroughly good read.
I loved this book and couldn't put it down. I was expecting it to be predictable with the current crop of psychological thrillers and missing children but this one was far superior.
Harriet has never left her daughter Alice with anyone else but one day she asks best friend CHarlotte to watch her - and Charlotte loses her. As Charlotte tries to deal with her guilt and ostracism by her so-called school mum friends, Harriet begins to lose the plot - but what's really going on and what does her creepy husband have to do with it all.?
I liked both Charlotte and Harriet and how their stories unwound in both past and present and the careful misdirection by the author. It all built to a fantastic conclusion and I would definitely read more by this author.
Absolute masterpiece! A brilliantly put together plot and characters built a solid base for the unexpected twists and turns throughout the story. The theme of the book made me feel quite uneasy, but in a good way. I mean, it's a psychological thriller so a little bit of discomfort is encouraged, I think. Overall I really recommend this book to anyone who's looking for the next mystery to get sucked into. Do clear your diary though as you won't want to put it down!
*Thanks to NetGalley and Century for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.* I devoured this book in under 24 hours. The premise is every parent's worst nightmare - Harriet's little girl Alice disappears from the local primary school fête when she was supposed to be being watched by Harriet's best friend, Charlotte Reynolds. A massive man-hunt is launched, but no trace of the little girl is found. As the book unfolds, more is discovered about Charlotte and Harriet's pasts and nothing is quite as it seems. A thrilling novel and I will be following this author's work closely.
Absolutely excellent suspense novel that left me feeling unsettled right to the very last page.
This story is about two friends Charlotte and Harriet. Harriet asks Charlotte to look after her 4 year old girl Alice. Charlotte is very happy that Harriet has entrusted her as Harriet has never let anyone look after her before. At the fete that Charlotte takes Alice and her own three children to the unthinkable happens and Alice goes missing.
I really enjoyed this story and it definitely went places that I did not expect it too. Any twists were unexpected which is rare for me as I have read so many Psychological Thrillers I can normally see any twists coming. I felt great sympathy for the two main characters. What I really loved about this story is that there were a couple of cliches that the author could have used but she didn't go there and I enjoyed it all the more for that. I was very satisfied with the ending.
My goodness what a page turner ! I was gripped from the beginning. So many twists and turns it really does take some doing to keep up with what’s going on. Thankfully the characters are few and beautifully created. The police are probably the least well developed and this is one of the strengths of the novel. Harriet and Charlotte are the stars of the show and the dynamic between them really convincing.
The controls exerted by Brian are spine tingling and made me feel really uncomfortable from time to time. There could well be a follow up - if there is I’d read it for sure
Very lucky to have been given the chance to read this before publication. The views expressed are my own
Superb, twisty taut thriller. An excellent tale of deceit and manipulation. Satisfying ending with friendship coming out on top. Highly recommended.
This was an excellent book with continual twists and changing focus. What the 2 women involved suffered! Didn't expect the outcome
A woman who has never left her four year old child with anybody before entrusts her friend to babysit and she loses her in the park. A police investigation is opened and the friend is blamed for having not watched the child properly. The book is very gripping from the start and full of twists and turns. Usually I find the endings of these books a let down but this was consistently good throughout.
Wow what a stunner of a book. A real page turner that had me gripped from the start to end. I really enjoyed it.
The story takes you on a journey of heartbreak, fear, guilt and sometimes joy. I really enjoyed reading the story from the perspectives of the main characters. It gave it so much more depth.
There were twists and turns that you least expect and just when you think you have got it another twist comes along which makes it even more interesting. A great read. I will certainly be reading more books from this author. I would recommend to anyone who enjoys reading. You can't fail to be impressed.
This is the first book I've read from this author and I have to say I will definitely be reading more. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and raced my way through it - a real page turner!
When the unthinkable happens and a little girl goes missing at a school fair, the story unfolds in alternate points of view. We are taken on an emotional journey through pain, fear, tears, sorrow, guilt and much more as we follow this harrowing thriller and just when you think you know how its going to end, there is another twist and an extra dimension to the plot.
A fabulous read that I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone!
Now You See Her had me gripped from the beginning, I really couldn't put it down.
Feeding you just enough information to question what really happened in the disappearance of Alice and making it so that you have to read just one more page.
I received this book from Netgalley and at first I found it quite difficult to relate to. It was quite obvious without the blurb, to guess that Charlotte was not going to keep a careful eye on Alice but once Alice went missing the whole pace changed. This is one of the most chilling psychological thrillers I have ever read and I have read quite a few. I think that was because it was just so plausible and yet so horrifying.
I soon found it impossible to get this book out of my head and kept picking it up again as I couldn't wait to find out what or who was behind Alice's disappearance, and it was so full of twists.
I found Charlotte's police interrogation a bit cumbersome, possibly because as the reader I had no idea what was behind it. Harriet regretted a lot of things but she seemed to overlook the fact that had she not held her nerve there might well have been a different outcome.
Heidi Perks is definitely a writer I will be looking for in future.
Thank you Net Galley and Heidi Perks for the opportunity to read this fantastic book and rave over it.
Page turning and exciting from page 1. A psychological thriller about the abduction of a little girl, focussing on friendship, deceipt, trust and fear.
Twists and turns throughout with some gasp out loud moments. I will definitely recommend.
A chilling depiction of every parents nightmare! Is it worse if your child goes missing, or if your friends child was in your care when she went missing?
The story is told from two points of view, Harriet who's daughter, Alice disappears and Charlotte who was looking after Alice when she went missing.
The characters are well written and the emotions are almost tangible. Full of unexpected twists showing you never really know what goes on behind close doors.
Thankyou to netgalley for my free copy of this title.
